How the frick do I just unlock more regular levels in this game? I only have 2 more ????? Worlds to unlock but everytime I beat another “diehard challenge” or “beat uhu to the goal” filler bullshit level it’s not unlocking anything and I just want this shitty ass game to be over. The controls are KILLING me

it's been long time since i played that.
not helpful, but i don't think you needed to do anything special.
good luck with the final boss if you get there. the waggling timing is very precise on that. took many tries.

Shame about the gameplay, because the art direction, graphics, stage concepts, set pieces, cutscenes and soundtrack are quite good.
the gameplay isn't too bad. Obviously not great but it works mostly. sort of fun since it's pretty original way to play.
black knight on the other hand, there was something weird about the gameplay. don't remember what. couldn't find it fun from it.
weirdly enough people seem to prefer black knight over secret rings.
Unlocking more stages is based on completing specific other ones, not a certain amount. No, the game doesn't tell you which whenever they're not obviously story-related.
>black knight on the other hand, there was something weird about the gameplay. don't remember what. couldn't find it fun from it.
Probably how you had to come to a stop to do janky sword swings to attack, the antithesis to how Sonic is supposed to play.
>Probably how you had to come to a stop to do janky sword swings to attack
yea it must have had something to do with the combat stuff now that you mentioned it
>We will never get another Arabic themed Sonic game again because this one sucked shit
I hate that they squandered the idea on this piece of crap
No exaggeration, there's absolutely no game I've played rented that I ever dropped. Until I played this shit. It took me 10 mins from boot up to actually turning off my wii from the jank controls. How hard was it to add regular joystick movement? I even felt bad for making my mom driving us to rent it and spending a few bucks on it. Of all things I could have felt from a stupid disingenuous gameplay.
OP here, I’m fricking done with it. I almost NEVER drop games. I haven’t dropped a game since Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright back in 2019 but I’m dropping this shit 10 hours in. I thought I was close to finishing the game since I only had 2 worlds left but apparently I only have 3 of the 7 “chaos rings” or whatever the frick they’re called in this game. Idk how the frick I beat this game as a kid, I guess it’s all I had so I toughed it out back then. Sonic 06 wasn’t even this shitty. I’m ashamed to say it but I’m watching the final boss and ending on YouTube. Yeah zoom zoom I know, frick this game
Dude its ok. A bad game will forever be bad. Even Sonic heroes was better and getting the Emeralds in that game was FRICKING hard. I could never find all Chao (1 last Chao in a knuckle stage specifically) in Sonic advance 3 either and I was a stubborn frick to look at certain guides when I was younger with games I truly enjoyed. Sonic and the secret rings is just pure Garbage.
That makes me feel a little better, thanks. I’ve completed many games that I didn’t even enjoy that much but this one is too much. Sonic Heroes is probably my 2nd favorite sonic game behind SA2 lol. It was much much better than this.
>That floor
>That hand
>That level of dust and grime
Are you that fat guy that lives in the cabin and posts shirtless pictures of himself all the time on here
It is I
You also found the website of the Goosebumps artist, nice. God tier wallpapers.
Yay it’s Cabanon!
Add sonic and the black knight in there. Misery loves company after all.
frick it
Excellent
Beautiful.
I liked black knight sue me
Please dust off your house anon
>Layton va Phoenix Wright
Huh??? What’s wrong with it, I can only imagine quiting at that dogshit ending, it’s really not that bad before the ending
I don’t like Layton games at all. I was playing every AA game in release order and decided I’d give PLvsPW a try before Dual Destinies and I actually slogged through the first 3 and a half chapters before eventually asking myself “are you enjoying this at all?” And I realized I wasn’t and that’s the whole point of vidya so I quit it and started Dual Destinies and started having fun again. I just don’t like puzzles much.
Ok that’s fair I just don’t know what you were expecting from a Layton crossover. Also if the puzzles were too easy for you, that crossover is notorious for being piss easy on both sides, the actual Layton puzzles are a lot harder.
Also DD is also ass play GAAC and AAI2 for some good non Trilogy AA games
Way ahead of you, I’ve finished every Ace Attorney besides the Layton one. Yeah I don’t think it’s a BAD game, it’s just not my preferred genre and it seemed to lean much heavier into Layton than Wright
>I haven’t dropped a game since Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright
motherfricker
Story related missions (always the first one in every world) can be enjoyable. The problem are the other missions.
Skill issue. But unironically. You seriously need to unlock better skills for the game to get better controls. It's fricking garbage. If you want to finish it sometime just emulate it with the regular controller mapping that someone on Youtube made for it. It almost plays like a normal Sonic game. Almost.
This game would've been a thousand times better as an arcade cabinet that you control via some kind of tilting platform shaped like a magic carpet or something. Anything would've been better than the fricking Wiimote.
Just stop playing this game is fricking horrendous. Easily in the top 3 worst Sonic games. The storybook games are terrible.
>november 2006 : Wii Sports, Red Steel, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, Excite Truck, Trauma Center Second Opinion
>december 2006 : Elebits, WarioWare Smooth Moves, Bleach Shattered Blade, Wii Play
>february 2007 : Sonic and the Secret Rings, SSX Blur
The first Wii exclusives
Reminder that the sole reason why this game and 2006 turned the way they were was because of SEGA expecting Nintendo to release an actual next-gen console instead of an overclocked gamecube
I don't like Secret Rings myself but if you really want to beat it you should just a guide that tells you what missions you should beat to reach the final boss.
If you don't care about beating every Spinc game then don't bother, this game isn't fun at all to complete.
I tried finding a guide like that but had little luck, there was a surprising lack of discussion about this game online. I probably didn’t look hard enough I’ll admit
It’s been a few years since I’ve played 06 but I don’t remember it being nearly this bad besides the load times. I’m gonna try replaying 06 soon on Xenia
I genuinely thought this game was worse then 06. People only praised it at the time because they thought sonics friends were the problem and they removed most of them here
The only sonic game I dropped was Generations.
The physic and level design for modern is worse than Unleashed and the physic for classic sonic is so awful it's insulting they even dare to call that classic
>level design for modern is worse than Unleashed
how? generations has actual alternative paths unlike unleashed
I supposed world design would be a better word.
Windmill Isle was just so good that when I saw a shitty Greenhill stage as the intro I stopped caring instantly.
I liked Generations' recreations of classic stages. It also has the best looking Green Hill too
Genuinely skip this game, watch the cutscenes/listen to the OST on Youtube, and move on to Black Knight.
You have to beat challenge stages until things happen. Some bosses/World Rings (and therefore the final boss since you need the rings to get in) are hidden behind them.
I don't remember if the game ever tells you this.
It doesn’t tell you this.
I’ll give it a chance since many people seem to think it’s better.
Reminder that franchise will never fully recover from 06
>Sonic 2006 is bad!
>Why?
>It's just bad okay
>omg Project 06 is great even though it's the exact same thing but without the city and loadings
I'm still saying that playing OG sonic 2006 with the level select to avoid loadings and the city section is a lot of fun so long as you ignore silver
06 is literally impossible to enjoy on PS3 tho. The framerate consistency is unacceptable.
>PS3
>Games
Non issue
I played it on ps3. It was fine. It's just very buggy game, which is funny at first but it gets old fast.
06 is horrible on PS3. Framerate consistency, draw distance for geometry in the distance and shadows casted by objects/environments, graphics, and load times are all worse than on 360.
Played it from hdd with cfw so maybe it loads and works faster or I'm just not that picky about that stuff. Who knows
>PS3
There was your mistake
2000s dark age > Current Dark age
>Mania
>Frontiers
>Superstars
It's too early to say but I think this era is looking good for now
>heroes, shadow, 06, Secret Rings, Rush, Rush adventure, Advance Trilogy, Rivals
vs
>Unleashed, Colors, Generations, Lost World, Forces, Frontiers, Mania, Sonic4, Sonic4-2,
Modern Dark age has more shitty games, but also more actual good games. Also Riders1 > All sonic all stars racing games
Side missions are not optional in Sonic and the Secret Rings, you have to do every "Collect 100 rings" "Complete stage without taking damage" "Race the ball of light" and whatever other miscellaneous task shows up and it just progresses the game that way. Tutorials missions are also not optional.
