My first Total War game. I wanted to chill strategy, I play Immortal Empires on normal, everything is going good then suddenly on turn 20 a fricking 5 full stack rat Skaven shittards pop up and destroy everything. They even have fricking ambush attack everytime.
How the frick do you deal with this shit? Do you need to rush like crazy or else at turn 20 you have 7 fricking full armies of rat shittiers at you?

Sounds genuinely very good on paper. At least the Empire overhaul, I haven't paid much attention to the Nurgle overhaul because I don't give a shit.
I'm honestly not all that interested in the new units or LL's either. But reading the changes to the empire core campaign mechanics was very nice, they literally go point for point over what I found to be wrong, and directly address all of it.
If it's going to work in practice - I don't know. Execution is a tricky thing. But it is nice to see them being well aware of the problems, and proposing what sounds like a reasonable solutions.

Because clan Eshin does not use almost any of the high-tech shit that other Skaven factions employ, they are actually incredibly easy on the battlefield. This is why they crap them out so fast - they are trash tier units. 5 of their full stacks are about the equivalent of one good, or two mediocre armies of your own.
Just don't be afraid of fighting them. Unless you get really caught off guard, you can easily just push into them with inferior numbers, but vastly superior quality troops.
As for their ability to ambush, that one is a b***h. Keep your armies in the cities if at all possible, don't let them stand out in the open. Alternatively, use bait and sacrifical armies. Make a shit half-stack of peasant spearmen move ahead of your real armies, to trigger the existing ambushers on the map and / bait the ambush-stance out of the enemy. You will lose the battle, but it will leave the enemy force exposed and easy pickings, because again - in direct engagement, Eshin is an absolute fricking joke.
Which reminds me - don't over-extend yourself. Skaven due to their low moral tend to have a lot of armies survive the battle, meaning even when defeated, their armies will still look menacing. It makes you want to persue them and finish them off on the same turn. Be really, really careful about doing that - it will make you into a prime target for an ambush. Instead, B-line for their settlements. Take the major ones first.
The damaged armies will be running around and annoying you - sacking or re-taking settlements you just conquered - but that is just how it is with skaven - in reality, all of that just means they'll further exhaust themselves, and eventually will die to a garrison, or make a poor move and end up somewhere where you can mop them up and be safe back in a settlement on the same turn.
Similar rules apply for the battle itself. Don't let persuing routed units break up your formation. Trust your crossbowmen.

You get the option to move back to the Empire after you take out the local minor faction. All your territory gets ceded to Zhao Ming, and I'm not sure what you get in the Empire, other than having all your forces teleported back.
