>Why does the game look so good? Didn't they just enhance the part of the game that makes it look good?
Great questions, anon
>Besides, was DE that much of an improvement? Didn't they just enhance the existing visuals?
No you moron, it's a complete remake of the visuals.
That's the modern remaster.
It really doesnt look that different from the hd edition which was just a resolution upgrade iirc. so like I said, they just enhanced the visuals a bit.
No amount of enhancing would make AoE4 look ANYWHERE near as good. Or any of AoE2's contemporaries for that matter.
somehow they managed to increase the visual fidelity witout fricking up the artstyle and also its easy on the eyes. Its just the gold standard for remasters imo. Strangely I cant say quite the same about the SC remaster. Something just looks off.
because DE did a smart move by keeping most of the original artstyle intact and just updating it to be more modern, in other words its stylized without being to cartoony
pretty sure it might be possible to play on Steam Deck since you can still launch it on steam, but at the same time rts on a console is pretty much a meme to begin with so no real point for playing it on steam deck as the main way of playing it
I fricking wish devs would return to isometric fixed camera and grid-based games. I just want a classic sim or city-builder with a modern coat of paint.
It's a historically important game, but it's not "great". Calling it great is like when that Bourdain guy will eat greasy msg fried shit from a stall in the turd world and act like it's so great and authentic. Games back then were too rudimentary, we didn't have the tech yet to make actually great games (and no it's not all relative, there is a technological threshold at which video games become recognizably video games as we know them today). It's like seeing Roman era graffiti and calling it a "great book"
Because DE 2 was released 4-5 years ago. Just guessing
AoE 4 released 3 years ago and it looks like a mobile game
Besides, was DE that much of an improvement? Didn't they just enhance the existing visuals?
moron

It's faithful, but it's a complete remake. You'd have to be blind to think otherwise.
this
it kept the art style but greatly modernised it
I absolutely love how good the building destruction looks in the DE at around 1:20 in the vid.

Typical Blizzard
Changed the colors and textures to be less grimdark 90s more modern WoW style
unrelated but I now remember playing Morrowind for the first time and thinking that the silt strider thing were the same as these guys

that screenshot looks like its on the lowest settings, the visual difference between low and high settings in that game is massive.
>>
it's from the steam page, did they use lowest settings? doubt it
Maybe its from an early build from the game or something? Looks a lot better when I run the game on my own machine.
any screenshots that look good?
Why has no one made a 3D RTS with orthographic projection? Would improve readability and artistic intent.
>Why does this look so good?
>I mean they just enhanced the VISUALS
i'm baffled by how stupid this is
how come nobody gave a frick about ao4? Even 3 had a better reception and longer life
I would wager it is because it unironically looks like a mobile game
because it wasn't made by Relic
because DE did a smart move by keeping most of the original artstyle intact and just updating it to be more modern, in other words its stylized without being to cartoony
looks too smooth
That's the modern remaster.
never played this game but i have the hd version on steam and it says retired lol
yall think this is playable on steam deck
pretty sure it might be possible to play on Steam Deck since you can still launch it on steam, but at the same time rts on a console is pretty much a meme to begin with so no real point for playing it on steam deck as the main way of playing it
>tfw no rts that combines the aoe 1 and 2 timespan
The magic of prerendered graphics

Anyone that doesn't put AoE2 in their top 10 games of all time is hack. The game goes right next to greats like Tetris.
I can't deny the nostalgia factor, since this game got me interested in history to begin with, but I can't get into RTS anymore. I prefer turn based
>Anyone that doesn't put AoE2 in their top 10 games of all time is hack
true
>The game goes right next to greats like Tetris.
Frick off poser
>Frick off poser
elaborate homosexual
Tetris is peak posercore, no I will not elaborate any further.
I couldn't care less what poser gays think, it is a quintessential game
Zigger detected
You have brainrot. go back
Tetris is commie garbage

yeah, just like the likes of Ocarina of Time and Super Metroid
true but I have a really soft spot for mythology and they are practically equal to me but enjoyable for different reasons
when do you think theyll buff hand cannoneers?
