I play through games on a regular basis and there's always more that I see that look cool that get added to the list. I see people here talking about how there's fricking nothing to play and I just don't understand how you could have gotten through all of the games that look interesting to you. It feels like I'll never get through all of this shit.

Pretty much in the same boat as you. There's always games to play. There's always old series I haven't gotten into yet but look interesting. There's always at least something new. I feel like a lot of people are just way too narrow minded and dismiss like 90% of genres, or other factors like if it has dated graphics, etc. Basically people are fricking moronic.

Lots of time + I don't play cheap knockoffs of better made games unless they have a unique charm to them. If it's just low effort templating I ignore it.
The real answer is that the more games you play, the more your tastes narrow until you see most of them as generic garbage and only desire to actually play about 1-5% of them.
The quicker you find the gameplay loop. The easier it is to know it is shit! The more games you play, the faster you get.

I used to think playing lots of vidya was some epic task but most of them only take like 3 - 6 hours to beat if you're "rushing" aka actually playing the game instead of fricking around.
JRPGs aren't even that long either, honestly. If you can read above a 3rd grade level and skip the occasional boring cutscene they don't go beyond 10 hours.

Can't talk for others but i try to only play the "best of the best" so to speak, so anything that doesn't look like it could be at least a 9/10 doesn't get touched. I'm lucky i haven't run out of vidya to play just yet but it already happened with other stuff like anime, feels like i already watched the best i can find.
