There was nothing wrong with it, it was actually better than the switch but was done dirty by awful marketing. Most people didn't even know it existed.
Better hardware on release nintendo was stupid with releasing underpowered hardware with low storage. It was most hardcore time for Nintendo though especially NOJ since NOA censored and ruined it at every opportunity. Miiverse alone is superior to the shitty paid online
1-free online
2-miiverse
3-backward
4-heavy ecchi and gore like Razor Edge, Fatal Frame V (japan) and Xenoblade X.
I wouldn't. It earned it's failure.
Ninty needed a point of failure after getting too high on the Wii's success.
They'll probably need another point of failure if they get too high on the Switch's success.
They will most likely frick up again I think. Japs are moronic in general. After Atelier Ryza 1 and 2 were successful they said frick it and frick the fans no more fanservice on 3 or how SE shits on turn based fans or otakus and pandar to westerners that don't care about JRPGs.
>Japs are moronic in general.
How do you think we got here?
Once the money dries up, they'll try hard. Once a good amount of money flows in, they'll be wienery and piss off the very people that helped them get to that point.
Vicious cycle of life.
After E3 and that massive failure I would have completely revamped it, change the name, give it wacky colors to further distinguish it, Nintendoland for all versions of the console. If that didn't help with the launch we'd push those 30th anniversary NES games and some version of clubhouse games for free while upping the ads for future titles and the current value.
None of it would help but hey its worth imagining
By making DS/3DS games playable. Bam solved it's an incredible emulation machine and nintendo already had a track record of portables being playable on home consoles(snes gb cartridg/GC gba) so it was frickimg moronic how they missed that oportunity. It's a dual screen home console ffs. Also a pokemon snap would've been nice.
assuming any degree of change is on the table: >don't make it PowerPC based >don't make the tablet mandatory for the full system menu experience >figure out how to optimize the menu/OS because jesus christ those load times are monstrous >call it something else >focus more strictly on regular and core gamers because I'm not a moron and saw that the Wii supercasual crowd was on the way out YEARS ago >advertise that it's a new console, don't just focus on the controller >have a mainline Mario in development for launch/near-launch that ISN'T another fricking NES throwback-heavy game >make an actual Animal Crossing game
and for personal shit that isn't strictly "save the WiiU" territory, but while I'm here: >fix the video output on vWii mode >remove the awful darkening filter on Virtual Console games >actually embrace the GCN controller adapter by having GCN games officially available on Virtual Console
I would have called it Super WiiU
launched it with a collection of Mario, and a collection of Zelda, put out Metroid Prime 4 and Metroid collection within 2 years, and Mario Odyssey, and Breath of the Wild within four years.
The Switch already did, by taking the idea and perfecting it.
Also not call it fricking Wii.
truth. Wii U was a beta switch
>perfecting it
lol
Wii U was more creative. Switch can't even get a cool interface, themes or friggin Internet Browser
The Switch does have something.
Games.
You mean Wii U games? Sure, it has those
Super Mario Odyssey is my favorite WiiU game
Yeah, it has those and more.
It's a videogame console, not a computer
it doesn't need an internet browser when everyone already has a smartphone
So, a cool interface, browser and themes make a videogame innovative?
Remove the gamepad and just make it a more powerful wii
It should’ve been called Wii 2 if they really wanted that still works as a pun.
There was nothing wrong with it, it was actually better than the switch but was done dirty by awful marketing. Most people didn't even know it existed.
Nintendo shit the bed with the Wii U, get over it.
At what point in my post did you think I was coping. I'm just putting the facts out there

is emulation on the Wii U even good
what the frick were they thinking with this name and design?
anyway, to answer your question: i just wouldn't make it at all honestly. feels like it's just doomed from the start.

there's no saving it
I remember so many devs promising active map or item menu features for the gamepad, only for it to become a blank screen on release
I would have called it Super WiiU
launched it with a collection of Mario, and a collection of Zelda, put out Metroid Prime 4 and Metroid collection within 2 years, and Mario Odyssey, and Breath of the Wild within four years.
