dumbed down how? all pokemon games are pretty easy. breeding isn't necessary as there are ways to get good IV shiny pokemon. regular trainer battles are still in the game and mega evolution is in. it also has following pokemon.

why exclude the dlc? the base game's wild areas are decently sized and are a good first step towards exploration after the linearity of the ds and 3ds games. the dlc wild areas add variety and are fun to explore. swsh has good character designs. I like bede, peony, leon, melody, leon, and raihan

berry farming is fricking gay and it, like a lot of things in this series, is defended because pokemon fans are simpletons who think more content means a game is automatically better. EVs, IVs, and Natures have more depth and variation than DVs and stat experience, but if I had to choose between the two i'd take the latter without a second thought.
The only games I consider "bad", are Let's GO and the Diamond and Pearl remakes
