Totally. If something sells like 90% of stocks you failed to realize how hype it would be. I expect 5-7 million comes sold come Christmas and probably 15 million copies next year

It's also extremely shortsighted. Instead of gowing the fanbase to support the series in the future, they opt for short term exclusivity money

The cope around this game is insane. FF7R did triple the number week 1 with only 2 days counted and every title before did 1.5 million week 1 in JP. When FF can barely sell in JP it's an awful sign for the franchise.

it probably did. red is famitsu's margin for 80% to 100% of copies sold

        Anonymous

It probably didn't. Different retailers in different locations will have different amounts of demands reflecting the interest of the surrounding populace. Even in the best case scenario, it's not very reasonable to assume it sold outright. Additionally, the total shipments are likely representative of the projections of demand by the retailers collectively. If this is like other conventional cases, the sales will not pick up and retailers will order only as much as they think seems appropriate. It may just stay in the red forever from now despite selling near double what it already has in a year or so because orders will be made in accordance to demand as opposed to in excess. It's the case with many, many titles. You can see for yourself on the famitsu website.

It's cute that the same cope used for FE Engage is being used here. RETAILERS order units in accordance to demand. Also, consider that such an assertion implies one of the lowest shipments of software for the mainline non-sequel entries of the franchise. See the legs in the coming week to determine if it has legs, but everyone likely has their metrics- all of which culminate in this low, low number.

    >250k copies bought out by anonymous individuals and shipped to random residential addresses operated by yakuza to save Yoshi-P from embarrassment

Has any PS5 exclusive sold over 5 million? Because I'm doubting this is going to be the one to pull it off, there are less than 40 million of these things in the wild.

Not a one that we know of unless you count the pack in that technically sold nothing.

Not that I heard off so far. Perhaps this will break the mold though

Every PS5 comes with Astros Cope Room so that game sold 30 million!

The thing is XVI is honestly one of the true platform exclusives right now. Sony is only starting to commit to making their first party games PS5 only instead of cross-generation with PS4.
It's funny that Sqaure took the jump before Sony even did.

      >MINDBROKEN MINDBROKEN MINDBROKEN MINDBROKEN

all discussion of this game will die completely once its no longer "viral" and you tards will move on to whatever big budget slop gets hyped up next, like it happened with every single other game that had zero staying power or cultural impact

Eagerly awaiting your predictable bot response

Hell yesss Yoshi-P sisters, even if the game only sold 337k copies in Japan, we can still twist those numbers so it sounds positive!

    >"Ha! We expected to sell less than half of FFXV"

Though considering between Japan and the UK they've only sold 360k of the supposed 3million. Are most of the supposed 3million copies just jammed in store shelves and warehouses in the US and Mainland Europe? It plummeting down the Amazon rankings shows week 2 is going to be pretty bad for it.

      But they did expect that.
FF15 damaged the brand beyond belief and FF7R only managed to sell 700k on far larger install base.
Just shows that square was smart enough this time around to not overestimate the market

that makes no sense at all. Final Fantasy 14 literally has the biggest trans fanbase of any game in history and Yoshi-P is celebrated by them as a genius. They are the biggest fans of 16 and are currently working on their speedrun routes.
