A series with just Kanto Pokemon alongside megas and cross evolutions could actually be kino. But this is too based for TPC.
Actually, I can see them making a "Pokemon Z Kai", i.e. reanimated Kanto series with modern animation and some worldbuilding updates (i.e. scenes with "realistic" animals gone, "Tajirian" wiritings instead of Japanese text etc.), probably with some small presence of new gen Pokemon (or at least references to them).
It'd be soulless as frick, but I do see some potential. Not sure how they'd incorporate advertising SV. But again, Journeys barely advertised Swooshie.
Yeah, that sounds terrible, I rather they don't touch OS at all, reboot, etc. there's a reason why it's still regarded as the best seasons in the series, the new staff would frick it up completely and not capture what made it special.

Dragonball Kai wasn't reanimated, it just had bunch of random filler scenes cut out from episodes and a few scenes here and there very badly redrawn. Can't do that with Pokemon since it was an episodic show.
