Depends. Out of all the major characters Benedikta, Hugo and Barnabas were horribly written imo. Everyone else was handled well, especially Joshua and Dion.
Ending is actually your pretty standard "events of game happened a long long time ago and is now being regarded as a fairy tale", its only dogshit if you lack basic literacy and can't interpret shit properly.

It's the best entry in the series since X and a truly worthwhile and amazing entry into the series. A 20+ year long spell has been broken, the first truly great mainline numbered FF game since the Square and Enix merger has been made.

We generally regard it as the best FF since 10 at least. Many of us agree that turn based combat is dead and it’s good to see action combat. We also love the story which is why we’re all talking about it. Most importantly, though, the director of FF14 made FF16 so it must be good. Barry hates FF14 and FF16 therefore we like them. It’s going to win a 10/10 from every outlet and be proclaimed as game of the decade.
