I like everything but I can't deal with the fricking loot shit.
just give me one type of every gear and leave it at that.
I'm a skill based player I don't want fricking stat boosts and I don't want to do too much damage.
despite the memes
a lot of people here actually play games, and not just the biggest AAA games, actual smaller titles, AA games, indie games, and all that
and they (shockingly) have actual opinions on them, I can understand this may be a surprise if you spend a lot of time in the shitpost meme ragebait threads instead of comfy game discussion threads
The only modes worth talking about in 16 are Arcade Ultimaniac and the Chronolith Trials because those require actual skill instead of face rolling your face in by mashing square and abusing infinite retries if you're bad at the game because the producer wanted everyone to see the story.
I haven't played Ultimaniac but the Chronolith Trials were quite easy in my experience. I had the most fun doing hunts. Even then, I think the game has fine combat, it's not a challenge but it's fun to mess around with in training.
>The trials were quite easy
Really now? I've seen quite a few people complaining about them since it requires the player to learn how to maximize their times.
NTA, but they were pretty easy when I played in action mode, in Final Fantasy mode it was a very different story. While most of them were still easy, the phoenix one was brutal, I failed a bunch of times and only managed to finally beat it with less than four seconds to spare while with the rest I had anywhere from a full minute to even four

I did Garuda's trial as soon as it was available without any of the endgame accessories and such so timing was actually pretty tight.
I hate the party members
You spent the hardest section of the main game alone (last 2 missions)
Out of spite I abandoned them now and doing everything solo (I'm done with Bahamut and omw to Gilgamesh) Wish there's a way to actually murder them and throw them to hell.
Like I said actually kill them in the game, erasing them from every cutscenes and my menu screen forever.
I was so reliant on them before on taking aggro and cheesing the enemy.
and then they just fricked off and I was stuck for hours in the final boss cause I had to learn and get used to fighting alone.
and they had the gall to return to life after that acting like nothing happened. BULLSHIT. Get the frick out of my face.
Now I'm alone in all mission and I feel good. At least no one will betray me no more.
>filtered
nah I learned how to be alone and now I'm in Bahamut difficulty, just grinding a bit more to reach the next one.
Frick those b***hes, all I need is my axe and berserk skill.
Its great and my only qualms are your party members not sharing exp and the fricking loot system.
I see a decent set I make, sigh, and just auto optimize. Why the frick is upgrading equipment expensive?
>Nomura's story of an angry man was the real 16 we made along the way
Based.
Do you actively have to swap to different jobs depending on the boss or can you just yolo whatever job you like the best? I've been swapping like a madman
You can kind of do whatever. You should be swapping anyway, since it refills your break gauge.
Do you actively have to swap to different jobs depending on the boss or can you just yolo whatever job you like the best? I've been swapping like a madman
You can yolo it but it's the better idea by far to keep all jobs leveled up, and change job loadouts depending on the situation. Job changes mid-combat are tremendously to your benefit
>get teleport >mfw
this shit is so busted
how is it legal to be able to zip around the area so fast with invincibility frames.
I mostly play as unga bunga axe man and only switch to mage to heal or to do ranged attacks very rarely. Also easier to build cause I just equip whatever the highest int for the mage as its while I min max everything for my Berserker.
getting op in this game actually feels satisfying, you still need to know how to play it, how the bosses and enemies operate, and what your build does to perform properly and people b***hing that you can delete bosses in seconds haven't done those fricking rift missions where you fight 10 random bosses in a row enough times to appreciate it
shit will still kill you if you slip up, but by then you're good enough not to, you just don't realize it's your skills becoming second nature
haven't played it yet, really tempted to pick it up. looks like a real dece action game, and i recently went through a lot of the big ones, like from platinum and capcom, and i'm trying to find something else to fill the void.
You can be Mage after just a few quests, but it's still a very melee focused game. Even magic classes will have you doing melee combos while you rebuild mp
>keep dying during Master Tonberries quest >finally get to the third Master >just push him into the water
Jack always says that a win's a win, so that is how I'm choosing to look at this.
I’m having trouble playing this game solo. Not due to difficulty or anything, but because I have trouble with playing co op games with little to no players playing the game. Especially now that I finished the story.
One thing I used to not do a lot is blocking and relying on soul shielding more, but that destroys your posture pretty quickly
I recommend blocking liberally. Bikke isn't especially hard, you can let your teammates take aggro and then hit him when he's distracted
Don't dodge too much and try to guard/parry more often. Dodging can be weird in this game and learning to parry will make your life easier in the future stages/bosses
Use magic/gun to chip his health down, then get close with melee. His attacks are slow, but he does like 3/4 string of attacks so be careful.
I personally don't like using Lightbringer, but that might help.
Doing the rift. I'm on floor 12, I think? The one where you fight Gilgamesh at the earth crystal shrine.
The addition of a second phase is fricking me over.
Otherwise I like the idea of the labyrinth but some gates I wish were more properly described. For example, 'defeat the boss' doesn't tell you what boss you are gonna face, and as they have different patterns and new attacks on gilgamesh difficulty, it's pretty easy to frick up a floor.
I spoiled myself a bit and know the story in the rift ends at floor 21. Well at least I read that's where you're supposed to fight the Death Machine that was shown in the trailer.
Currently on a Summoner/ Berserker build, but I might change it up a bit.
Can't wait to get to full fledged new content like pic but I really like the added mechanics and how the game lets you take your time with them, unless you decide to enable that mode that trivialize things, I guess, but I feel like delving autistically into the grind and builds is part of the charm of this section of the DLC.
God I wish they gave this game an actual budget instead of flushing endless money down the toilet known as forspoken.
XVI's been pretty great so far but I would murder someone to have a full mainline game with a job system like that.
To be honest I thought the gilgamesh dlc was the best one, the new level and the Mateus and Omega fights were nice but it added a lot less systemswise iirc. Gun jobs were cool though.
Got the DLC once everything was released and even permanently discounted to 15 bucks instead of the initial 25 iirc, so I got a gun randomly while doing missions on chaos difficulty. It's definitely a cool weapon. I think the one job that was added with the DF DLC involving a gun that I haven't tried yet is the gambler job, although I have unlocked it.
How exactly does class XP work? Sometimes I go to allocate points at the cubes and have randomly gotten points for jobs I wasn't using, and when I beat bosses it seems to frequently level up some unequipped jobs too.
I like everything but I can't deal with the fricking loot shit.
just give me one type of every gear and leave it at that.

I can tell you loved FFXVI
you haven't yet ascended into postgame build autism where it all makes sense
I can only think of a handful of posters here who have said this was a bad game. I feel like most people who play it agree that it was very good.
I didn’t say it was here. It was all over YouTube and games journalism. The combat is 20x better than 16.
despite the memes

You sound lonely 🙁
Are you Russian? This sounds like a very Russian mindset.
lol filtered loser relying on them to draw aggro

Frick those b***hes, all I need is my axe and berserk skill.
you want party members in the rift to level things easier
I'll cross that bridge when I get there I guess
>cast ultima
>boss defeated
Game is a cakewalk unless you're playing on Hard or Chaos
>game is easy when you play on easy
average jack disrespector iq
>implying there aren't 3 modes below Hard
it's almost as if you are supposed to play on hard if you want the game to be hard
How is it possible to be such a massive fricking gigachad?
I’m gonna FRICKING KILL Chaos!
Bullshit.
its ok but the gameplay is fundamentally flawed in the end game where you press one button to kill an entire boss health bar
Imagine not thinking thats the coolest fricking thing ever. Jack being insanely powerful is the whole appeal
I fricking love the ending and Jack's a great character
AND NOW
THE END IS NEAR
Manly tears were shed during the credits.
better than 16
Apparently Astos got addicted to cocaine after SoP, now he looks like this
Don't do drugs, kids
On the other hand, you turn into a badass dragon if you take enough damage, but you get a really bad allergy to metal.
its his chaos version
Corny
Its great and my only qualms are your party members not sharing exp and the fricking loot system.
I see a decent set I make, sigh, and just auto optimize. Why the frick is upgrading equipment expensive?
I fricking love co op games like this
Why aren’t there more of them
I have always wanted a Job System action game and I fricking got it.
>no crossplay between EGS and Steam
Why, Square? Why kill this game over and over.
>no crossplay between all releases
Why god why
The game doesn't have any dedicated servers for central multiplayer, it uses PSN, XBL, EGS, and Steam for all matchmaking across each platform.
It was the real FF16 without a budget
>Nomura's story of an angry man was the real 16 we made along the way
Based.
You can kind of do whatever. You should be swapping anyway, since it refills your break gauge.
By swapping, I mean different jobs almost every mission. Not the swap while in combat
Do you actively have to swap to different jobs depending on the boss or can you just yolo whatever job you like the best? I've been swapping like a madman
just pick whatever you want
paladins my jam because of the contrast with how jack acts
You can yolo it but it's the better idea by far to keep all jobs leveled up, and change job loadouts depending on the situation. Job changes mid-combat are tremendously to your benefit

Man's powered with pure motivation to kill chaos
Most powerful fun class? I just unlocked red mage and its pretty cool
the real Chaos was the friends we made along the way...
truly kino
I'm so glad SoP threads are back, bros

it's awesome and the more effort you put in to learn it the more fun it gets
Just unlocked the gun…
I’m not using anything else
gay game
It's over
You have awful taste. Game is so boring and bland. One hallway after another or bland enemies and brainless puzzles.
is it possible to play a magic/sorc build from the start to finish? I'm tired of playing as warriors in all my souls games.
You can be Mage after just a few quests, but it's still a very melee focused game. Even magic classes will have you doing melee combos while you rebuild mp
>keep dying during Master Tonberries quest

Jack always says that a win's a win, so that is how I'm choosing to look at this.
Jackpilled
It's a great action RPG, I think people overrate the story a bit, but it's still enjoyable, and Jack himself is great of course.
Vanilla game is amazing but all the DLC after it is grindy shit
This. I was expecting a Nioh style DLC of new whole missions, story, bosses, etc so yeah it was pretty disappointing.
did you defeat chaos?
team ninja is horrible at making pc ports. that's the sole reason why i still haven't bought it.
but it's fine on pc
lol did you listen to some morons who couldn't figure out why it was so blurry and had their rendering resolution set to 30%?
No the has horrible frame times.
I’m having trouble playing this game solo. Not due to difficulty or anything, but because I have trouble with playing co op games with little to no players playing the game. Especially now that I finished the story.
Game is great otherwise.
When the kino hits
Got filtered playing solo trying to beat the pirate Captain boss, any tips? I've been meaning to get back into this game for ages
One thing I used to not do a lot is blocking and relying on soul shielding more, but that destroys your posture pretty quickly

Its great but it runs like shit on a fricking 3070 at 1080p. Thats outrageous
Use the special K fix

kill yoshitpiss then you re doign a good favor to everyone
How exactly does class XP work? Sometimes I go to allocate points at the cubes and have randomly gotten points for jobs I wasn't using, and when I beat bosses it seems to frequently level up some unequipped jobs too.
iirc you get xp based off of how high your affinity is for a job on top of having stuff for them equipped obviously
I thought it was pretty good, but overrated and the gameplay isn't as good as nioh 2.
If anything the game is massively over-appreciated.
You’re an idiot
SoP was kino and i'm tired of pretending otherwise!
we told you to respect Jacks's strength
