I've never liked Shadow, but with Generations focusing on him I feel like it's a good time to hype up Shadow for myself. Any suggestions? I feel like he's made fun of even more than Sonic himself.

Vergil has not much in common with Shadow. Vergil feels no responsibility to anyone outside of his immediate family, Shadow has no particular ambition to become any more powerful than he already is. Shadow has no personal beef with Sonic even in SA2 and they were just on opposite sides, while Vergil is obsessed with Dante. Shadow is standoffish but generally well liked, Vergil is autistic and has no friends and prefers it that way. Their powers are also near opposite in style.

Not even remotely true. He's initially jaded about humans not because he sees himself as superior but because he thinks they're evil. Despite his posturing he has a kind heart and doesn't think twice about saving Rouge from getting blown up. He also doesn't have an inferiority complex, constantly trying to prove he's better, even when he's friends with the protagonist. Once he teams up with Sonic he even admits Sonic is the real deal.
