I cannot think of anything else this game-breaking that is explicitly available at the beginning of the game in a game of this scale. It’s not even a well hidden secret or anything. It’s like 3 hours into the game you can super quickly level up your character to endgame levels. It totally negates the challenge of 90% of a 70+ hour game.

I get its convenience for replays, but it’s not hard to discover it on your first play thru. Can’t say I’ve seen anything like this in a game where the game-breaking farm was basically handed to you right from the get-go.

It's a litmus test to see if your dopamine receptors are fried and you have no agency on how to enjoy games anymore. Kind of like selling good ice-cream by the pint, some people will eat it in one go and become disgusted by the end, others will eat it little by little and enjoy fully

In ARK Survival Evolved you can craft cooking pots cheaply for mucho xp. They don't hide this exploit well either. I guess games just love when the player wins.

If you follow Varre's questline (find him in Liurnia, invade three times), he'll give you an item that lets you warp straight to the Mohgwyn Palace, an endgame area. There you can use a bow to bait a particularly powerful enemy off a cliff, instantly killing it and giving you more runes than you should have at that point. The spot is right by a site of grave, so you can sit to respawn the enemy as many times as you want. It lets people powergrind.

If you don't recognize this spot then you're not gonna have a good time, because reaching this is required to start the DLC.

Do tell. How else were you supposed to effectively level up in the game? Go crawling through stupid dungeons and catacombs to get tunes from the bosses? Fight a thousand giants in a row?

The game is shit at leveling you naturally as you play it.

This is the normal way to play and the runes you get from doing it are more or less the intended amount. Over leveled is just some idiot meme brought to you by the same dumbos who decided that you're not supposed to level above this or that in other souls games.

Yes. OP is exaggerating how easy it is to just happen upon this place. But I guess it happened to a few people.

This legitimately breaks the game in a very bad way. I don't care if it's meant for replays, skipping almost the entire first half of the game in a game where the second half is notoriously shit is obviously not the best way to experience it.

    >It’s not even a well hidden secret or anything
    >Have to follow a random npc quest line, do an arbitrary number of online invasions, and find a corpse somewhere in the world just to access the area
    >All while deliberately ignoring every other point of interest and quest line alongside the main dungeons
Nobody who knows what they're doing even uses this method to farm runes.

    >this game-breaking that is explicitly available at the beginning of the game
This requires you to find Varre in Liurnia do several invasions then go kill another NPC and teleport to a difficult area and explore until you discover these guys. I'm sure a lot of people who weren't guide reading gays accidentally stumbled upon this super ez trick

So you needed actually look at the map of Liurnia and go to one of the islands in the lake that explicitly has a structure on it, and then do exactly what he tells you to do and invade people. Finding the blood tainted cloth is really the only part of the quest that is at all tricky, and even that you should get done fairly early if you’re thoroughly exploring Liurnia once you make it there. You’re overstating how unlikely it is to complete it on your own. Ranni, Millicent, Alexander, etc have way more complicated quests with stuff that’s easy to miss or frick up.

It's not "explicitly available at the beginning of the game". You still have to find it among the dozens of other quest lines you'll find, alongside all the other points of interest and the main progression path. There's many other things to see and find that it's dumb to act like this one quest line and the reward it gives you is just handed out to anyone that plays. It's not quite a needle in a haystack but one marble in bag filled with dozens of indistinguishable marbles

I don't see how it's a problem. I never used it because I don't enjoy grinding, and even if I did in a game like this grinding is utterly pointless. It's there for people who want it, people who don't can ignore it.

It's not that fast. I remember trying it and it was still slow enough to be so boring I went back to playing the game legit

Wasn't this only usable as a farm when that multi element sword hadn't be nerfed yet, and you had to get the sword first and do a pvp quest or reach the snow area?
And the bird before mohg, which requires the same type of process, was faster anyway?

I remember doing it with the sword and felt it was not worth the time, it just wasn't fast enough for me, plus it was annoying how the beam would sometimes miss.

          Anonymous

Are you sure you were using the right sword? The one people usually use is the Sacred Relic Sword, the hitbox on the ash of war is so stupidly massive it's pretty much impossible to miss unless your target jumps and it usually kills all the albinaurics in one go.

I only bothered with trying to powerlevel on release, people were using the beam attack of the sword of night and flame at the time.
            It missed a lot.
Never bothered trying to powerlevel in subsequent playthroughs, the game gave enough runes to finish it comfortably or I would be lower level on purpose to make it a bit harder.

This area is accessible as soon as you get to Liurnia (which you can get to from the beginning of the game) using the Pureblood Knight's Medal. It teleports you directly there.

It’s extremely efficient if you’re low level. Takes no time at all and clears the only real threat in this farm. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Baiting the crow takes no time at all, you literary can't argue that it's easier or else you'll contradict yourself. The crow drops over 2 times the runes the frogs drop.

Malenia is a different story. She’s clearly designed to for you not be able to easily overlevel past her. Levels absolutely make a huge difference with other bosses in the game.

Yes, you need to know what you’re doing and be able to execute, but until you’re at the point of no-hit mastery, there’s a HUGE difference between the “the boss can kill me in 1-2 hits” vs “the boss can kill me in 3-4 hits” or “I can kill the boss in 8-12 hits” vs “I need to hit the boss 20 times to kill it.” Levels give you wiggle room when you’re not at perfection yet. Period.

weapon/ equipment upgrades, talismans and estus upgrades are more important than levels by far, prove me wrong.
