Yeah, this is so you actually learn the fight and correct positioning. Knowing what moves to counter and where to stand when you do it is a big deal even in counterspam weapons.

World and Rise sold as much as they did cause they trimmed pointless shit and focused on what made the games fun, fighting the fricking monster.
World was a breakthrough title, but Rise was in line with the success of the Switch and the tremendous performance of handheld MH. That stuff wasn't in the way and the streamlining doesn't necessarily have a role in the series' adoption, retention, and growth. Wilds will be where we see if Worlds' broader breakthrough caries forward.
Man, I wonder how successful GU would have been if capcom actually released it globally and marketed it.
It did pretty well anyway. Despite not getting a western 3DS release, The GU/XX release has done about 4.6 million so far. Only about 300K away from being the best selling portable only entry. I think the best selling single SKU in the series is probably the Switch version of Rise by a long shot. Don't know if we'll end up seeing another spinoff like GU again in the future.
That's honestly impressive, considering how capcom just quietly tossed it out to die after telling everyone that they weren't going to release it overseas.
I figurer it got a lot of word of mouth considering people were annoyed that it wasn't going to be a new MH on Switch but GU instead. Still, the fanbase is a niche and the retention from entry to entry is very strong. The fans follow the game to whatever platform they come to, so that's a strong foundation Capcom can depend on. The people looking for their next big AAA fix hopped on World, but lets see if that translates to Wilds when it comes along

I've tried replaying world and it's real problem is that it's roster is 95% shitmon. Wilds just needs to include the good fights and it will be okay.
