I could go on about the Tav/Durge split, Daisy to Guardian, the Absolute simplification and a bunch of other shit that completely stripped the game of any sovl and remnant of BG 1+2, but there's two things that actually pisses me off and makes me want to dash Swen's head against a wall.
>Gale and Wyll v Shadowheart, Astarion and Lae'zel
In early acess, S, A and L were the "evil" companions and Gale and Wyll the "good" companions, but this was actually a fricking kino bait and switch.
Unlike now, where Gale tried to "pls mystra take the weave pls give me segs", in EA the c**t was implied to have tried to completely usurp Mystra as God of Magic, and to have only romanced her in pursuit of that goal
And Wyll, before the rewrite, was a wienery c**t that simply wanted to be a hero, took a shortcut and didn't care in the slightest about it, only about how he looked heroic enough
To some of you, this may not piss you off, but Gale is subjectively within the top 3 best companions in the game (until picrel, my wife, gets her content added back, then she's number 1), and the rewrite of him completely sapped the cool story arc that he could've had
>I could go on about the Tav/Durge split
There's nothing wrong with this, I just want to play my custom character without having to care about dealing with edgy murderhobo fantasies. Fusing them would be a dog shit decision.
yeah you also never played BG 1+2. It's called "Baldurs gate" for a reason you cretin, not "DnD simulator where I get to roleplay a homosexual blank slate with no complexity and challenge beyond whatever moron "backstory" you thought of"
tee hee whoops, too bad
kek
You can't cut the latter half of a statement and expect a point to be made. The whole thematic core of Baldurs gate is fighting against the inevitable monster you're going to become
The dead three is generally one of the most kino parts of DnD lore, but I do agree the condescension to lesser deity was trash
It is a valid criticism, I brought a brand because the first two entries in the brand heavily affected my life, spiritual sequels should embrace the spiritual message of whatever it's sequeling, in this case >Thematic core of Baldurs gate is fighting against the inevitable monster you're going to become
Seriously are you c**ts just gays or homosexuals?
Right you fell for a marketing trick for a series that you are obviously too invested in emotionally.
It's okay, you'll get over it, it's a video game.
The next time you find yourself wanting something just because of the brand name maybe research the product instead of buying blinding.
BG3 is a great Divinity OS 3, terrible sequel to Baldur's Gate 2.
Of course anyone who played the game in the three years prior to it coming out, listening to the game devs, watching any of the gameplay knew this but I can see why blindly buying a game and being confused by it can be frustrating.
shut the frick up you homosexual loser, the whole point of this thread, and the general implication, is that I was fine with the game in EA, I bought the game in EA, I considered the game Baldurs Gate III in EA, and then the game was stripped of all sovl because of chat cretins like you who has never read a book.
Go back
>he thinks a game built on D&D mechanics isn't meant for roleplay
Massive brainlet
And it's fricking cringe, frick Bhaal, that lesser deity homosexualry overstayed it's welcome.
>yeah you also never played BG 1+2.
Isn't a valid criticism anon. It actually is "DnD simulator where I get to roleplay a homosexual blank slate with no complexity and challenge beyond whatever moron "backstory" you thought of"
and your dumbass bought it because of a brand. Not our fault you couldn't recognize a "spiritual sequel", aka marketing talk.
i wouldn't wish playing bg1 on my worst enemy.
I played bg1 like a year or two ago before I even knew 3 was in production. Liked 1 well enough but 20 minutes into 2 I was like "I can't do this to myself again" and dropped it
bg2 is pretty good, bg1 sucks and only homosexuals blinded by nostalgia like it
The beginning of bg2 just felt like being thrown into the deep end and didn't have a slow build up like in 1, which is probably why I got scared off
That's why there's Irenicus Dungeon be gone mods. BG2 opens up the world a whole big deal with Athkatla and loads of set pieces after.
Why does Baldur's Gate have to be about Bhaalspawn? This is like saying every Star Wars movie/game has to be about the Skywalkers
The antagonist of bg1 being a miniboss paper pusher was so embarrassing, I felt bad for him
>having a tulpa try to seduce you was too rape-y
Okay but the alien who lives in your head and gaslights you into doing his bidding before showing up in your sleeping mind naked is just fine? Okay?
The Bhaalspawn plot only actually mattered for Throne of Bhaal and the initial motivation for Irenicus fricking with you. Otherwise BG1 is your bog-standard "evil twin was raised by EVIL parents and you by GOOD parents" separation plot and BG2 could work with literally any person with divine blood.
Yeah, you had the cool dream sequences and being son of God of murder is... Kinda cool, ngl.
The Tav/Durge split makes your default character the most boring character in a sea of snowflake companions. It's odd because every other character has more agency to be the party lead over you. Your character goes through 0 character development without DUrge.
It's like the reverse of cRPGs, usually the PC is the special one which means every other character has more incentive to follow you and listen to you. In this scenario, they shouldn't ever listen to you.
Also:
>Baldur's Gate
>Bhaalspawn
>sequel to Baldur's Gate 1+2
DUrge is the closest thing to being a Bhaalspawn in the game and feeling like an actual title sequel.
In BG1+2 being a bhaalspawn had absolutely no impact on your agency aside from one single instance where you transform into a Slayer and briefly go berserk. It's effects are entirely on the npc side and how they refer and respond to you.
Dark Urge is VERY different. Also you could argue that because they included the option to play something other than Dark Urge, they were able to design Dark Urge to be much more extreme. If Dark Urge were the only option, then they'd have had to tone it down and provide alternative choices.
Durge also has 0 impact on your agency other than 1 npc in act 1
Wasn't you being a bhaalspawn the explanation for your fast leveling and ability to actually reach the level 40 level cap?
everyone in the party can do that
Presumably because (You) can share your power or something or it's ignored for gameplay purposes since minsc even comments on how he's just some guy with a sword that fears not keeping up with charname and his shenanigans
Is there any stuff thats unavailable to durge outside of that cute bard? Thinking of making a custom tav for my 2nd playthrough, but if its only that i might just go durge again
>DUrge is the closest thing to being a Bhaalspawn
but durge is a bhaalspawn
I don't even know who or what a Tav is. I killed every tiefling I came across though.
Tav is the default name of the player character
you have 8 options when you start the game for who you want to play as
6 origin characters who already have an appearance and backstory picked who show up as a companion if you don't pick them
>Lae'zel
>Shadowheart
>Astarion
>Gale
>Wyll
>Karlach
and 2 player characters who don't have backstories or appearences
>dark urge
>Tav
Why did Larian work on the garbage origin mechanic instead of polishing Act 3?
Because Larian wanks over their origin feature and just wants to make DivOS3 but reskinned. They'll just do another Definitive Edition.
who even plays them instead of making their OC? only dark urge lets you customize the character
>who even plays them instead of making their OC
7% of their playerbase according to Larian's chart.
They still will make new orgins
Kek
A big problem in larian games: the pc is always just a silent spectator, never an actual actor.
the PC does basically everything in BG3, they're way more engaged with the story than DOS2
I don't feel integrated as tav at all. Maybe the ending sours the experience.
Its rather the omnipresent illusion of choice and pigeonholing. The writing is just not good.
the ending makes everything blow ass but the general happenings up to the big final setpieces are largely determined by (You)r choices and actions
Yeah, but you can only choose between established factions. You can't create anything. It ultimately boils down to orpheus or emperor. Which is bs, as orpheus is completely sensible and emperor wants freedom. In the current version the emperor still has his old lines. In my name doesn't even make sense when he is. Balduran. He was the initial leader of the illithids, their mythological king hence the mural at the beginning where he overthrows the elder/netherbrain.
>I don't feel integrated as tav at all
That's why the companion origin system messes it all up. The companions can be played as PCs and from that get go, they are already more special and have more character development than a default Tav. DUrge is needed to put your MC on the same playing field as the other origins but your issues are far more out of control than the other companions which makes your problem much more personal.
>which makes your problem much more personal.
So... good?
You can either go blank slate or as special as the rest of your companions.
Yes, good. At least by what I think. Default Tav is very, very bland and really has no reason for being the party lead.
it's an RPG
if you want character development develop your character
playing through the game in a multiplayer session with your friends is when you should pick origin characters
What even is the "origin mechanic" beyond making companions playable or it just that?
It incorporates their personal companion quest into your main quest objectives, and gives you unique dialog based on the character you're playing. That's pretty much it. It's a neat idea, but it requires 10/10 companions worth playing as over a custom character, and they're far from that. Plus it takes way, way too much dev time to make it work.
i dunno but i know im just gonna make a new character after act 2 because of how frickin wack act 3 was.
its not a fun feeling teetering on finicky ass bugs to make sure things work in a laggy ass samey ass city the whole act
I was so disappointed when I got to the firework quest, where you interrogate the rich guy after finding out that he was putting explosives in the dolls. You get to the base of operations and there's literally no way to get around a fight. You have to murder the entire building and anyone that comes in from the street because of the noise. There's no other options.
>and anyone that comes in from the street because of the noise.
This didn't happen to me but I just sent astarion on a suicide mission
The only way I was able to stop the guards from coming in was by sneaking on the roof and exploding their barrels through a hole in the roof, but everyone in the store still agros if you come back in to go upstairs and for me that also always meant the fists outside the store
yeah i ended up not finishing it because i had so much money, max level, all the good shit. there was just no way around it.
couldn't even just blow them up from across the street because it left them still with some health and then it was turn based battles of walking across the frickin street
you can send astarion or anyone else really up on the roof and shoot through the hole, that got a lot of them for me but the main guy in the back who has the note on him didnt die when I did that and I still had to do the whole battle with the entire building
you Fly up to the roof of the opposite building and shoot a firework into the window then Fly across to mop up the stragglers
regardless, the 2 b***hes on the floor below and the owner and his guards on the bottom floor all agro you when you enter combat with them
Is it really that bad or is it again anons talking out of their ass just to shit on the game?
Act 3 is a noticeable quality drop and buggy
It’s exaggerated.
There’s bugs, but it’s nowhere near Arx on release. There’s plenty to do in the city, to the point where you’ll likely hit the level cap halfway through.
doesn't compare much to act 1 and 2. its baldurs gate, and it drags the frick on. the performance and buggyness makes it a lot harder to enjoy
>I could go on about the Tav/Durge split, Daisy to Guardian, the Absolute simplification and a bunch of other shit that completely stripped the game of any sovl and remnant of BG 1+2,
Could you? I didn't play the EA so I'm curious.
Here's a gorgeous Jaheira fan art as incentive
>Tav and Durge was originally one character, without the amnesia. I've not seen any datamined files on pre release story, but I assume this would have led to a similar story to BG 1+2. It also was less psycho than Dark Urge and more eerie/sudden, like a certain scene with daisy where you think of ripping her apart or some shit. I've already explained why this particular decision killed the sovl of the game in

Seriously are you c**ts just gays or homosexuals?
>Daisy was literally the main character of the game bar you, the two main songs are about her, the most kino ending I've ever seen a proto neo dutch write consists of you and her staying by the river while your body undergoes ceramorphosis, and she wasn't the emperor, she was the actual tadpole scared of dying if you were able to remove her
>The absolute simplification
Gortash says it perfectly: "The greatest religious hoax in history", generally a moronic decision to make the Absolute not a god. Not only that, but it was also moronic to make it an elder brain, or at the very least a sentient elder brain, for the simple reason of it completely railroaded act 3
>Not only that, but it was also moronic to make it an elder brain,
I mean, I figure it was an elder brain at first glance and I don't even know much about DnD lore. Just that
>You have illithid tadpoles consuming your brain and that gives you telepathy with others that have the same condition
>There's a cult with people with tadpoles and a clear leader/god figure
>mind flayers are led by elder brains
Obviously it was gonna be an elder brain
And thanks for the summary.
Yeah, it seemed a much better story
Actual integration with the thematic of Bhaal like 1 and 2 without the edgy exaggeration of Durge and the Guardian was much more interesting as a concept of a sentient parasite that will kill you but doesn't want to die, plus spiritual waifu
What the frick os the Emperor again? It's Squid Balduran? Why is he a mind flayer
Daisy was orpheus (protector) and elder brain (seductress). It's clearly named in the files. Withers is jergal and helm told him to wait for that bhaal spawn. This is bs, as jergal can cast true resurrection and hence remove tadpole.
The initial story was genuinely good, but way to complex for mc normies and let's be honest, larian didn't finish the story and they found no valid conclusion of the story. Shame.
>Daisy was orpheus
Orpheus tries to present himself as a hot chick too? Wtf
Daisy and desire were fighting. Orpheus protects from tadpole and don't want you to submit to. Desire and eventually free him and absolute wants you to free her from the dead three.
The dead three were also conspiring against each other and the artifact is made of infernal iron (vlaakith send gith to tiamat in the hells and gith vanished since then). The story had a lot going: civil war between illithids (emperor vs elder brain), orpheus vs vlaakith, dead three battle royal, devils meddling everywhere (that's were orpheus was hidden), shar and seluna conflict, Nightsong was an actual boss, fighting the avatars of the dead three, multiple groves vs shadow druids, goblin army led by drows, hag covenant and bg politics. What we got was act 1.
Damn sounds cool
Unfortunately larian didn't finish half of it. Avernus was cut (soul coins power vehicles, think of the boat fight in the UD), later Raphael was a merchant dealing artefacts vs soul coins (hence gale selling his soul for artifacts), what we ended up was karlach gets 1d4 fire damage for a sacrificed soul.
The mercanery system was initially thought of withers reviving your enemies for soul coins ( his initial question indicated this). Halsins failure made kethric what he is. Generally where the origins very deep involved in the story, far more than karlach and Wyll now.
Areas were meant to be mutually exclusive to incentivise replay, like pass and Underdark. They completely fricked up their time management. Disgrace.
Is this all from datamining?
Yes, most ore patch 6. With 6 they started to cut here and there. I believe war forged was initially planned as well. Quite a few dialogue. Oh, paladins have functioning deities with different dialogue form clerics - cut. Thankfully there's a working mod for that. Shar cleric made you immune to the curse and boy, the dialogue as a dead three cleric: highlight. Was cut bc they couldn't find a conclusion in act 3 and also they didn't like durge to not have access to some classes. Likely the reason for paladin deities cut was durge as well, come to think of it. Zariel was cut early, so we don't know what exactly she had to do with the artifact and gith. Possibly a deal with vlaakith. Now you know why the cambions want you dead at any cost. There was a clever tired mechanic - cut and ambushes at camp, except halsin if you destroy the grive: all cut.
>jergal can cast true resurrection and hence remove tadpole
Except he's bound my Mystra's limitations on magic after Karsus' Folly. The Elder Brain's parasites are NOT because they have been altered by Karsus' Crown and Netheril magic.
The Hag in act 1 explains this. Undoing your parasites is beyond the ability of anything bound by the limitations on the weave. You'd need another Netheril artifact made before the Folly to undo it.
I don't like how a Bard companion was cut out. I don't know why people wank over Astarion. He's just another gay flamboyant Londoner butthole and I deal with that on a daily basis. I made a Bard MC on my first playthrough to cover that.
There's no other character that can, lore-wise, cover Sleight of Hand checks. Also, need a Dwarf, Halfling or Gnome. It sucks none of the current companions fill those roles.
Here's what we got:
Lawful Evil Fighter Lae'zel
Chaotic Evil Rogue Astarion
True Neutral Cleric Shadowheart (can fix her or break her)
Chaotic Good Warlock Wyll
Chaotic Good Barbarian Karlach
Neutral Good Druid Halsin
Lawful Evil Paladin Minthara (but she should be a default companion without having so many loops and losses to get)
Neutral Good Druid Jaheira
Chaotic Good Ranger Minsc (needs to be acquirable Act 1 as per cut content)
There's not enough coverage for traditional Neutral archetypes. 2 Neutrals, 1 Bard and 1 Monk would probably help fill out the roster much better.
The party roster has 2 elf druids, Larian couldn't give two fricks about party comps
True neutral characters are fricking boring, hence why the only companion filling that niche is also the one you have the most active role in influencing.
I imagine there's no bard companion because bards are the perfect PC class: skill monkeys, excellent faces, and a good mix of magic and martial beyond just being a really strong class in a level 12 campaign. They would feel almost mandatory to have in the party at all times, and in doing so they'd diminish the usefulness of the other companion's skills. Better for the player to be in that position.
Also, people like Astarion because he's a great character. If you don't want him around and slight of hand checks are such an issue, then either A) pick up locked chests and send them back to your camp for him to open there or B) smash them and/or doors open with a hammer.
There's no bard companion because the cut the bard companion to add Halsin
I don't think Bard being a good PC class is the reason. A well written bard is probably hard to write and a VA who can sing probably even harder.
You don't want to write a bard character and not have an actual singer otherwise it comes off as really bad. Most bards will come off as whimsical or some shit. As much as people hate on Linzi from Kingmaker, I liked her as a Bard.
A Goblin Bard like Deekin from NWN1 probably would have been good comic relief - another character type that's kind of missing.
yeah it feels off being mc bard. just kinda railroaded there with [bard] options that i always take no matter what.
all i can do is make him look frickin ridiculous for the comic relief
dunno why we couldn't get sazza, volo, the bard tiefling b***h, the moronic dwarf husband in the underground, the one halfing c**t merchant we see in shattered/moonrise.
its all fricked. its like i feel forced to make a manlet to make the group feel more diverse
the scope definitely got away from them, and bowing to fan demand for Halsin and Minthara might've fricked up more things than we might realize
Don’t forget about Barcus Wroot, poor Gnome had the worst of luck trying to get to his ungrateful friend. It would have been nice to have him as a companion. Could’ve been this game’s Jan Jansen minus the turnips.
Wroot's a complete dickhead, he wants to straight up murder the Gondians after you free them
yeah the work going into tryin to rescue gondlings didn't felt worth it when i coulda just blew the shits up anyway
The path of the righteous is not always easy, nor should it be.
I’ve yet to get to that point. Up until now he was dead set on trying to keep everyone safe from the Ironhand Gnomes. Are you sure you aren’t referring to Wulbren?
I might be
yeah hes confusing it with the the guy that hands you the bomb in the first place
i dont even know what windmill man leads to honestly. he mentions his reward is in his sack but i dont even know where thats at
im at the goblin camp on my replay. does poisoning the beer trigger the whole shattered sanctum or anything? does it kill every goblin in the camp ? because honestly that fight has so much shit that it feels required to bring in the ogres
From what I remember in early access. Poisoning the beer at the goblin camp manages to take out less than half of them outside. Then you have to pass a few checks to avoid suspicion.
the only issues i have tryin to do it direct is the archers up top make it hard to funnel them all to the bridge while they pick at you, and then again you have the rest by the waypoint you have to aggro yourself so you dont watn to chase them down and get put into combat with even more shit
might try the approach from the rubble up top that leads to outside from inside on top of the rafters
>i dont even know what windmill man leads to honestly
later in the underdark
>he mentions his reward is in his sack but i dont even know where thats at
check the well in the blighted village
is that his backpack on the web bridges?
i just go through the well for the free boots and dip out but go back for the book of the dead shit later at level 5
i aint frickin with those gay spiders
The spiders are pretty easy because their webs are flammable
they tend to not stay on the webs and just teleport everywhere. maybe if i approach from the wel instead of the blacksmith area it might be different. and im not a moron on my replay so i guess it would be easier
i eldritched blast the mom off the edge my first time. dunno if the robes are worth it
>Set giant spider's web on fire
>Drops to the ground for like 30 damage
>Jumps back on the same web (?)
>Rinse and repeat
yes but you should also pick up the gem that unlocks the book of necromancy
>SH makes multiple mentions of how important finding the gauntlet of shar is to her
>ignore her
>wooooooow how could the game do this to me
>yes but you should also pick up the gem that unlocks the book of necromancy
thats one quest i fricked up because i didn't answer the mirror right and then just dipped out of the area because i didn't feel like fighting more skeletons with a roaming flaming ball trap
>SH makes multiple mentions of how important finding the gauntlet of shar is to her
Literally never ever mentioned this. Granted, I never took her with me, but at camp she never mentioned it.
>Le ebic quest to kill nightsong
>Nightsong travels with my party now
>She leaves the party
??? What an idiot
>Le ebic quest to kill nightsong
>Nightsong travels with my party now
exactly bro, you stole her job
>Literally never ever mentioned this.
there are several environmental triggers that you've missed
Wulbren is the asshat who wants to murder the Gondians. Barcus is the guy you keep helping out and ultimately can kick Wulbren's ass out / claim leadership depending on how you handle things
forgot about windmill man. loved launching him to death on accident but also freeing him i dont know what reward he was even referring too. nice boots in the windmill basement i guess.
Because they're not edgy and special enough for Larian.
The guy punishing dead people in the Shadowlands and the drow alchemist in Moonrise who wanted Astarion to bite her were way too interesting to be so one off. Her voice was pure sex.
The guy with the white crow was supposed to have more content but it was cut
Yeah I was super into he who was and his rude b***h crow. if you stand around after accepting his quest he refers to you as their companion and the crow gets jealous
You can find the Drow again in Act 3. Not sure if giving her your blood is a pre-requisite, but she'll be in a house testing out how explosive your blood is.
>the drow alchemist in Moonrise
What happens if you give her your blood? I was too paranoid to do it
Some money iiirc at first, and when you find her in act three she can pozz you with unstable blood that ignites like oil. Taking Astarion to her is the real money, +2 to str permanently potion.
that b***h is down bad
cant believe i gave the +2 str to karlach
>forcing good boy astarion bite some Black person-looking dr*w
cease and desist
I would let him leave the party permanently for that +2 STR
i ascended him and he acted like a frickin c**t and he also didn't end up burning anyway because act 3 is buggy shit
i made him stab himself and then he wanted to fight me. oh well
>the moronic dwarf husband in the underground
This would've been great. His wife wants to get rid of him and you invite him to your camp and make him a fricking terminator.
have you seen their shop in act 3? dude was abusive or something according to the logs
other than that her dialogue was really buggy. like she didn't even know who i was
>There's not enough coverage for traditional Neutral archetypes. 2 Neutrals, 1 Bard and 1 Monk would probably help fill out the roster much better.
Dwarf (Duegar) bard for neutral evil. He's all greed and trickery, selfish and looking for glory no matter the cost.
Halfling Bard for neutral good, make them mutually exclusive. You can only recruit one and it depends on how you handle the grove situation.
For the Monk, I'd actually go Githzerai. True Neutral.Introduce them at the mountain pass section, or when you enter the underdark. Would make a great foil to Laezel.
>Githzerai Monk
I'm actually surprised there's no Githzerai in this game. At least one in your party would fit thematically.
There are gith monks so they skipped githzerai and there's one aasimar and they skipped aasimar.
I don't think it's even accurate to call Aylin an aasimar, she'd be a quasi-deity in the actual cosmology
Why? Quasi deity with 69hp?
she's the direct offspring of a god
That's how it is with 5e aasimar. No longer recessive genes.
why say something with such confidence when it can be proven wrong very easily
I need Aasimar as playable for Definitive Edition. pls Larian. I need it. I need more of their thicc thighs. Only this time without all of the carpet munching
doesn't she just use the Big Girl body type Karlach has
>Only this time without all of the carpet munching
but that's the best part
>Ay
lmao
They could call him israelitelee Dindu and he could be reformed living in the mountains
Still mad there's no option to select this as a subrace. They have monks and everything. It's all laid out for them
>but this was actually a fricking kino bait and switch.
not to anyone who knows Larian, the 'evil' companions in DOS2 turned out to be your best bros by the end (Sebille who tries to kill you literally pledges her love to you and she stays with you forever and Red Prince who first wanted you to be a slave is your best bro at the end)
>no dragonborn companion
>no dragonborn hireling
>no dragonborn guardian
>no dragonborn NPCs until Act 3
At least they're rare unlike Tieflings which are filled in every section in the game like they're majority race in Faerun.
I don't recall seeing many new tieflings if any after Act 1
You're full of shit, too. Half iof the harpers are tieflings that weren't seen in Emerald Grove.
>no dragonborn NPCs until Act 3
friend told me I was crazy when I pointed this out yesterday and then couldn't think of any himself lol
theres one if alfina is koed and ur urge
Good, it's fricking lame how we've just got ~10 flavors of human but I'd have preferred it had stayed at that instead of getting ~10 flavors of human and 1 flavor of scaliehomosexualry. Gnolls woulda been preferable even, at least they are evil.
frog and red lady are the only ones who stand out anyway and even then they are still just another human with different skin color
also frickin bullshit how gith get all the cool race exclusive gear that gives them all kinds of cool shit. guess it makes sense giving their tech but still
>promise race-specific gear with the implication that multiple races would get cool exclusive gear
>it's all for githyanki
>and ONE sword for drow
very cool Larian
Where do you get the drow sword? I assume Underdark and I missed it since I'm already in act three but I did search the Underdark pretty thoroughly. I'm playing a drow mage so it's probably worthless for me but it coulda been good for Minthara.
The drider drops it
Oh shit, so I have it somewhere and didn't even read it lol, good to know.
there's also a drow/bard longsword not far from the selune outpost you can get by a religion or str check
that sword isn't exclusive to drow (or bard), it just has a bard-like effect
That sword doesn’t have any race-specific abilities
does the performer feat from it not stack if you already have it? im going bard and maybe i coulda min maxed around it choosing something else
I definitely missed that then.
I never had him in my party and then he wanted to talk directly after it and went on about "blood on my hands, I canny stand it." and I just didn't both telling him he should stay. Good riddance reddit man.
There is a good bow for the charge stuff pretty early on, but my taking advantage of it just consisted of throwing all of the items that mentioned it onto one person and forgetting about it so it may or may not have done work.
>I never had him in my party
I don't think I had him either but I did feed him 3 magic items
>I don't think I had him either
>but I did feed him 3 magic items
please tell me you got some screenshots
yeah i remember that bow i used for homosexual thief before i realized how strong dual handcrossbows are with fighter
i hardly dash so those boots are useless. im not takin advantage of wet surfaces and that seems like it could backfire on allies, and the crown i dont frickin know
there is also some shit for halflings/gnomes
laezel chads we can't stop winning
Yeah, it's bullshit, but I like Frog a lot so at least it sees some use. If there was special gear for the scalies or midges it'd be just more trash for the ever growing pile of trash magic items.
im tryin to really take advantage of items but i cant ever figure out a good way to use the lightning charge magic items they throw at you like the crown, boots and gloves that give charges on specific shit.
not sure if the lightning charge only applies to physical attacks or any attacks like spells
yeah its kind of obvious they were a very late game addition
The weirdest thing is that there WAS a Dragonborn hireling shown during pre-release footage but they changed its race right before release.
>no dragonborn NPCs until Act 3
they really made this game like a MMO lol
There is one in the first act. Although you have to play as the Dark Urge and knock Alfira unconscious. Then a Dragonborn Bard named Quill will appear at camp where she meets her untimely demise.
This game is setting unrealistic expectations for romance
The way Astarion says "Gods, you're beautiful" when I talk to him and basically everything Halsin say literally makes me giddy.
I wish my boyfriend had such a way with words.
(and could turn into a bear)
...What?
You're beginning to believe the illusions we're spinning here. You're beginning to think that the tube is reality, and that your own lives are unreal. You do whatever the tube tells you! You dress like the tube, you eat like the tube, you raise your children like the tube, you even *think* like the tube! This is mass madness, you maniacs! In God's name, you people are the real thing! *WE* are the illusion! So turn off your television sets. Turn them off now. Turn them off right now. Turn them off and leave them off! Turn them off right in the middle of the sentence I'm speaking to you now! TURN THEM OFF
next time you want to post something, jerk off first
I went in blind at launch and Gale and Wyll are easily the worst of the initial companions cept maybe Karlach. Kind of wild if they were actually good before the rewrite cuz as it stands now im going to be ignoring them in every playthrough.
Attempting to usurp Godhood is just such a kino story device, and even in act 3, it's still kino as frick with karsus and his crown and shit So many ambitions, reasons and ideologies behind attempting it, even Gales bad ending where he simply wants a world without Gods,
Wyll was always a homie, but I liked him pre launch, and Karlach's a dumb prostitute with a mouth of shit
>Kind of wild if they were actually good before the rewrite
I thought wyll got rewritten because he was so bad before? I didn't really keep up with development and only ran through EA once when it was new and I don't remember if he was there or not yet.
before he became a warlock because Mizora offered to suck his dick and he was faking at being a frontier hero
They rewrote him because they thought the reason no one used him was because of his story, rather than the actual reason (he's black and Warlock is kind of lame)
Idk which sounds worse tbh, kind of wish I got to see him to that gay little dance other anons have talked about though lol.
>get mad at your consumers for making white humans as their characters
>7/10 companions are basically white people. the eighth a black guy with demonic baggage
pottery
>no midget companions
And again Dragon Age Origins wins
there was one but she was cut
>inb4 could i romance
shes a granny
>Unlike now, where Gale tried to "pls mystra take the weave pls give me segs", in EA the c**t was implied to have tried to completely usurp Mystra as God of Magic, and to have only romanced her in pursuit of that goal
he goes full mask-off and reveals he tried to usurp her and wants to try again with the Crown when you find the Annals of Karsus
No he doesn't, he realizes that the weave he tried to give to her wasn't real weave
he literally says he wants to use the Crown of Karsus to usurp Mystra and do better than she ever did
Yeah I know, he's original backstory and the reason he had the orb was because he tried to usurp her, because he wanted to be a god.
They changed it in the game so he eventually decides to do it the first time in Act 3, for dif reasons
https://twitter.com/LarAtLarian/status/1694420909187068087
I don’t get it what is this tweet referring to
Trust the plan
Kangaroo sex DLC
>spend hours on doing shadowhearts questline to free herself from Shars manipulations and turn back to Selune
>she still prays to Shar for my escape from the city after I sacrificed myself and became mindflayer
many such cases
they literally fricking gave up on making any dialog actually make sense during act 3
like, literally nothing ever reflects your choices whatsoever
yeah act 3 is a frickin mess that on replays im gonna just make a new character at the start of it. way too much finicky questlines that break if you dont follow specific procedures like long resting a shit ton, and dumping companion quests on you like that which amplifies the inventory/party management issues
>Durge playthrough that chopped off Gale's hand at the start so he never was in the party
>get to the Sorcerous Sundry Vault in Act 3
>Gale's voicelines start playing as if he's in the party and I was in the middle of his character quest there
It's cool that you can go to the Origin quest areas even if theyre not in your party, but man, they didn't test this shit out at all
Funny that didn't happen for me, but I recruited Gale and then he left due to muh thiefling genocide. That probably made the flag switch to the failstate for all his quests.
>but I recruited Gale and then he left due to muh thiefling genocide
wtf mine didn't, does this shit just depend on approval rating
you can persuade him to stay
>he left due to muh thiefling genocide
>you can persuade him to stay
That's so weird. I've raided the grove twice and he never even mentions it. For me Wyll always leaves without a word and karlach will stick around at camp to b***h and moan at you before leaving.
>That's so weird. I've raided the grove twice and he never even mentions it. For me Wyll always leaves without a word and karlach will stick around at camp to b***h and moan at you before leaving.
same here
>I've raided the grove twice and he never even mentions it
did you speak to him during the after party?
>For me Wyll always leaves without a word and karlach will stick around at camp to b***h and moan at you before leaving.
wtf karlach refused to speak to me and agro'd when i approached her after killing the teiflings. she said she heard of me and saw what i did to those innocent people and told me to frick off.
>be Durge
>kill Alfira in act 1
>her friend in Elfsong says she's on the roof
i literally thought she got fricking resurrected or some shit so i went to check
lo behold she was in fact NOT on the roof
that didnt happen for me and i have gale in my camp
wow EA version sounds actually good
>kill all your companions
>the game acts like nothing happened and just continues
>don't make an oc character
>the game is the exact same
This your goty?
So I can respec a mage to 20 strength so it's a barbarian tank that has unlimited mage hands?
I don't know anything about DnD, what the frick are teiflings? I assumed they were just people who live in hell or whatever but apparently they're all former humans?? What the frick, why does hell have a revolving door? How are all these damned souls getting out? Why are there teifling children? What the frick is going on?
not at all, they're born to a bloodline that had some sort of interaction with devils or demons in the past. A demon could be their great-grandparent, their dad could've made a deal with a devil, stuff like that.
>Racemixing with demons
The Druids were right
it's not even necessarily the result of crossbreeding, it can literally be the result of a warlock deal like Wyll's
they are the result of devils fugging humans
i would give raphael many healthy tieflings if only he'd put out
Sorry, Raphael only likes to sleep with himself.
%3D
When I first walked in on this, I 100% thought he was doing a bugs bunny bit
i can fix him
He also has a thing for girls like Mol.
No more pills, it's OVER
I'm finna nut, and coom
No more (human) race, it's OVER
This demon cum
Your womb
He's bad in bed.
well of course, if he only ever fricked himself. that doesn't even count as sex, more like fapping. Anyway, skill comes with practice
Sorry but your character is canonically Built for Big Human wiener.
gale, frick off. my character only takes elf or devil wiener
i couldn't resist mizora when she presented those curtains either
She literally gives you demon aids though
huh sounds great. what does it aid me on?
>can frick a female devil
>can't frick a male devil
femcels got robbed!
Raphaels gimp in the House of Hope.
that's not the real deal. that's like humping a dakimakura
>What the frick, why does hell have a revolving door?
It's a plane, there are tons of planes in the setting and leaving them isn't that hard if you've got the right magic. Avernus is one of The Nine Hells but there are actually a bunch of planes that could be described as hell IMO.
Yeah people kept talking about other levels of hell but like every person/reference to it seems to be from Avernus specifically. Other layers of hell not get out much?
it's the largest level, the topmost/entry-level level, and Asmodeus forbids portals from being opened to the other level
Avernus is the easiest to escape from because it physically borders two other planes and the Blood War is constantly raging there creating distractions
>Avernus is the easiest to escape from because it physically borders two other planes
amazing idea
escape Hells into the fricking Abyss
>Escape Hells into the fricking Abyss
Wouldn't that be like jumping into a volcano to escape a sorta hot floor?
Tieflings are whatever the writer wants them to be. Originally they were planetouched humans, far off descendants of someone who fugged a devil / traveled to different planes / had a pact of some sort / other shenanigans. Basically do stupid stuff, and one of your great-grandkids gets horns.
Now, doesn't fricking matter, they're just a race that looks like humans and sometimes a human turns into one of them or vice versa.
Something about all the ridges and bumps on a tiefling body is incredibly arousing and I wish they were real
why do dragons let random frogs ride on em
they get to keep all the treasure they pillage during raids
can't they just pillage shit themselves
they cant fit in a lot of doorways
heh
This might be a really dumb question but why the frick do dragons want treasure anyway?
Hard Mode: Not mentioning Jordan Peterson
they hit the level cap and treasures are the only way to get stronger
armor for weakpoints
they are intelligent and have their own society and its just currency
made to watch over treasure
posturing to be more "alpha
depends on the universe i guess
My favourite is them using piles of gold as their beds. I know I sure as hell would be cranky if someone tried to steal my bed
because Smaug was obsessed with treasure and literally every baseline fantasy trope is lifted from Tolkien
Different reasons depending on the treasure and dragon's own goals.
>Guardians for whatever reason
>Status to flex how fricking awesome they are compared to other dragons
>Collectors
>Knowledge
>Unironically to frick with people and see who can manage to get to a set up treasure trove that has frick loads of traps they had set up.
they serve as young dragons so they get a secure avenue to building a hoard without having to compete with other dragons as much
>tfw no option to have Astarion solve the Orpheus issue
>tfw no option to fix Karlach's heart engine when there are so many solutions lying around
>tfw no epilogue or expanded events
Also somewhat annoyed me that Wyll ended up taking Karlach to Avernus when I got him out of the deal but meh least it saved her I guess.
>didn't make wyll the duke so he stayed the frick away from the karlussy
never touching karlach again btw. what a disappointment
So much cut content, especially in Act 3. Think Larian will make a definitive edition. That puts back most if not everything such as the epilogues, saving Karlach, and the Upper City?
>Access Astarion's pimp pad via city walls
Wew it's really like watching the game tear apart at the seams
that was so fricking goofy, the most blatantly obvious instance of the explorable Upper City being cut at the last minute
Esp after two vampires invite you to a party.
... In broad daylight, that it.
Astarion would have been such an easy fix to that
>b-but what if Astarion just betrayed everyone!?!?
Understandable if he ended up being a dick, but it works if you managed to convince him to frick up the ritual to become a vampire god
>>tfw no epilogue or expanded events
honestly enough people are b***hing about this, so maybe they'll do a lame ass citadel-type dlc
>Hundreds of devil people running around
>Everyone acts like Raphael is THE actual Devil
???
Raphael and Mizora (and that guy in the Temple of Shar) are the only actual devils in the game after the prologue, yes
They're both cambions actually, which aren't even true devils, but only halfies.
Level 12 cambions at that. They're common mooks in wotr
WOTR only has like 15 enemy types across the entire game
>Calling Chadphael a mook
IT'S OVAAAAA
The Daisy "Down by the River" ending sounds like one of the most kino moments that would have happened in the history of vidya.
I'll never forgive ledditors for asking for her removal and Larian for listening to them. Frick that.
>The Daisy "Down by the River" ending sounds like one of the most kino moments that would have happened in the history of vidya.
I wouldn't mind a tadpole waifu but EA Daisy was super jank and too obviously evil.
>I'll never forgive ledditors for asking for her removal and Larian for listening to them. Frick that.
This never happened
plebbitors b***hed that having a tulpa try to seduce you was too rape-y so they changed her to the guardian
thats just a schizo headcanon Ganker kicked up
How the frick was that less rapey than fricking Emperor going
>You want to ascend don't you
"Nah man I don't"
>No no, you want this. I can feel it.
And then being left the choice to either accept it or stomp on it or pass a 21 wisdom check to just politely return it.
Pox on both of them, the myconids were based however.
luv shrooms
luv fungi dancing
luv underdark nature
'ate druegar
'ate industry
'ate drow, not racist they're just racist to me
simple as
.t lorax paladin.
>Pox on both of them, the myconids were based however.
I was pissed that, as a spore druid, there was zero interaction with them.
Hell, is there any interaction with subclasses at all? Why do I need to take levels in Wizard to get magic talk with Gale or other people as an Eldritch Knight?
Paladin Oaths occasionally get something specific about the oath, and Clerics occasionally get an option related to their deity
>ledditors for asking for her removal
Wait, what? i thought they dropped her for time related reasons. What the frick is this?
Imagine being a Karlachgay lmao
I wanted to do this after hearing her refer to the fricking drider as MAMA K
Who in the actual frick let someone write the moronic shit she says
Didn't she refer to herself as "Mama K"?
it was when we were following him so I thought she was referring to staying in his light. first time I heard her say that particular phrase
Modern lingo in fantasy settings is a massive fricking mistake. Karlach is a reddit character because of it.
>Get called a cuck in Act 3
>mfw
I actually found that really funny because there was absolutely no reason for him to call me that. I just told them I wanted no part in the fight then he calls me a cuck and tries to kill me.
So out of left field it's funny
Had it been cuckold it'd be fine.
>there was absolutely no reason for him to call me that
literally /ourguy/
I found it funny as well, and it's not strictly modern so it wasn't super jarring.
I've been calling people cuck all game with Cutting Words
another thing that made me hate her is how after Elmister comes, you can go talk to everyone and they have really strong opinions about what just happened but she is like WAS THAT GALES GRANDDAD? XD and doesnt know about what just transpired literally 2 feet away from her
seriously what were they thinking with this character did whoever make her suck someone's dick to let their horrible waifu oc be in the game
Literally R3ddit/holds up spork the character written by R3dditors
She's so obviously written by a fat dyed-hair lesbian who's addicted to twitter.
It's stupid Gale is a magic user anyway, he'd make a much better rogue or similar, what with all the being cut from magic stuff. Besides the Chosen of Mystra status can't be revoked, even if they break up.
Wyll though would instantly be fixed with this, and throw on some fakery for that as well.
>israelites spend millions shilling a game nobody plays
I thought israelites were supposed to be good with money?
Happy launch week, folks!
Wield the Power of A Mind Flayer
When we announced and launched Baldur's Gate 3's Early Access back in 2020, we ran with the line “Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a mind flayer parasite planted deep within your brain,” and since, we never really expanded on what this meant mechanically. We hinted right from the get-go that mind flayers would be a central pillar in our story, which we’ve explored many times since then, but now it’s time to explore how it ties into the RPG systems of Baldur’s Gate 3.
While these creatures may be a source of great power, all that they offer comes with a cost. As the parasites' hosts, you must make a choice. Will you resist the powers and the corruption that comes with them or will you embrace them, risking your body, mind and soul to save the Realms... or destroy them?
If your desire for power outweighs your concern for the well-being of anyone else, or if you simply think psionic levitation would be a really neat party trick, then Illithid Powers may be for you.
Illithid Powers are a hidden skill tree used to enhance your command over your newfound illithid capabilities. Those who wish to harness the parasites' power must first find more of these parasites throughout the Forgotten Realms – some can be located inside jars and in pools of brine, others within the skulls of the infected. And then you must consume them.
The deeper you go through the illithid skill tree, the more powers you'll discover. But nothing comes without cost. While your companions can also consume parasites to gain their powers, not everyone in your party will agree to it, and your companions' perception of you can undergo a significant shift based on how you approach this opportunity.
Things can also get a bit more… complicated. But we won’t spoil it. That’s for you to discover.
>happy launch week
>it’s all lies
Bravo larian
They didn't spoil, did they?
aren't red dragons supposed to evil psychos though or was that just pathfinder
Chromatic dragons are inclined to be evil with red being the worst but they can do whatever. However the red dragons you encounter are part of a pact by Big Mama Tiamat so they are allies of the Githyanki and work with em
i’m honestly jealous of people that can get this invested in make believe.
ever since my girlfriend ate my ass, all I can think about is working hard and providing a good life. i play games still when I have free time but I just can’t bring myself to give a damn about anything aside from whether or not i’m having fun on a mechanical level.
I miss the feeling of being motivated by the story and characters, I miss how I could trick myself into believing I was accomplishing something. Ever since I had my ass ate I just can’t give a damn about the nerd shit.
She got poop mouth
>Gortash wants to make a deal
>Paladin specific option for taking his deal
>Paladin tard wrangler shows up to spank me
Wtf?
he knew it's a fake choice in a shit game and you will not be able to fulfill the oath :^)
how the frick are you going to justify enslaving thousands as a Devotion or Ancients Paladin, or letting a self-admitted tyrant get away with everything and essentially conquer the world as Vengeance
Because the choice had [Paladin] in front of it
Based self aware NPC
>act like a tard
>wtf why am i being tard-wrangled?
based moron
If my tard guard didn't want me to do the no no, he shouldn't have labeled the choice as a good boy choice
Was the patron thing cut content too?
Still better than BG1&2
What's a cool thematic gith build?
anything with 8 int
I still think it's pretty good, still have not finished the last act. Don't know what people are talking about there's a lot of content still in act 3
Stuff got cut=automatically terrible even if there's still a ton of shit to do.
The problem with act 3 are the bugs that will probably be patched in the first actual patch after a whole fricking month of fixing shit.
That Thing Everybody's Talking About (Cut Content)
So... Considering Larian is completely silent on this, Just asking realistically here, are we likely to actually get to see any of the stuff we missed out on, or will that be a more "wait two years or so for the definitive edition" do you think? I beat the game and the way the ending feels like I walked face first into the title card screen just feels... so abrupt. Not to mention how weird the pacing felt in act 3... Idk, I love this game, but the amount of stuff that feels off or missing... I kinda don't feel like I want to play anymore, which bites because there's a lot of playthroughs I still want to do. Hell, even the EA and datamined stuff about Daisy feels So weird with the changes that they made. Especially to have missed out on that version of the character, which made more sense in my opinion and went much deeper than what we got...
the problem with act 3 is you're exp capped there's no gear the final fight can be done in random +1 gear effortlessly even if there was gear and the narrative admonishes you to skip the whole act as fast as possible
notwithstanding the bugs etc.
whole thing feels pointless. only the house of hope is REMOTELY not shit, and even that's a linear murder everything in a hallway area, barely a dungeon.
You don't need to have a carrot dangling in front of you to do stuff, it's fun to go through stuff even at max level.
>it's fun to go through stuff even at max level.
maybe if the level cap was 20 and there were ending slides
Ending slides yes but the lvl cap being where it was made sense
How? You fight shit that's higher than level 12
NTA, but honestly after I hit max level and already have god tier equipment, it's hard to care about who's putting firecrackers in stuffed bears
Baulders Gate should've been in act 1, then capture by illithids, then the game as usual.
idiot. the game is fricking boring without constant progression. without constantly introducing new gear and new abilities there's no reason not to do every single encounter exactly the same way. but I guess you're one of those morons who neither care about the combat NOR the char builds NOR the roleplay aspects of the game, yet you still manage to enjoy yourself somehow. inexplicable. like a baby left in front of a screen while spider-man raping elsa plays to happy music, and you giggle and clap. horrifying.
that "stuff" was just more meaningless combat and in the end it doesn't matter if the endings are so frickin shit with a blank screen NOTHING MATTERS DUDE DONT YOU GET IT?!
the only thing that got replaced from act 3 was the frickin ansur sword and helmet and even then i didn't fricking need those
there's like 7 legendary items in Act 3, you didn't use any of them?
>Not using Chadphael's gooning armor
Sad!
greatsword is great
trident is great
can't think of any other good legendary items
Raphael's armor is good and the rapier is basically built for Swords Bards
I agree about armor but
>having a bard
wish there was a bard companion but I'm not going to use hirelings
whats the rapier? i had eldrtich blast lock Black person using the mizora sword still.
barb karlach with the ansur sword
hand of lathanar never got replaced
shield also from the drow b***h in house of grief
and like, various other purple shit. not sure if theres a legendary hand crossbow since i was using yugirs and some fire poker one
you get it from saving the kid Ethel eats
oh that explains it. i killed her and didnt know or read much into makin her puke it out with a potion
you have to read a pamphlet outside the Blushing Mermaid to get pointed towards the solution
ah i only got lead to her through the run down home with the hex doll and redcap dragon
pretty sure that's where you find out how to save the kid, I forget the exact steps, though
the barracks by the entrance to lower city has a hysterical woman askin for help to find her missing kid also.
yeah that's what pointed me towards Ethel in the first place
the reveal actually surprised me
not legendary, but the str gloves and con amulet in house of hope. I put it on my barb and she had a billion AC and HP and did a billion damage, she probably could've soloed the entire act not accounting for stunlocks
raphaels armor on my already OP as frick cleric that was using hand of lathanar since act 1?
this reminds me of the people playin wow early in an expansion sayin they are having fun essentially not doing all the content first and doing shit like pet battles saying they are having a GREAT time.
>still have not finished the last act.
Hope you'll enjoy your 5 secs long epilogue.
there's a lot to do but the places where the cut content breaks shit is very obvious and the ending is crap (and the Gortash and Orin fights are very disappointing compared to Ketheric, especially Gortash)
>Kethric gets blessed by his god and turns into an avatar of death with a 30 foot long scythe
>Gortash gets taller
Holy frick
Gortash killed himself with his own bombs and traps for me. Literally instagibbed himself
Then I sent his glove to my camp which meant I didnt get the stone and had to reload an old save
Act 3 was a mess
I did the same with his glove, but you can just go back to your camp and pick it up to trigger the cutscene.
150 damage bombs, kek.
Larian bastard had time to write a script that removes these bombs from inventory.
i picked up the bombs from the traps with jaheira and after i went back to camp, blew up my party
Kek. I couldn't go to camp, the cutscene interrupted me and instead of the camp I was teleported to temple of bhaal.
Pointless content, yeah
>Don't know what people are talking about there's a lot of content still in act 3
classic sour grapes instead of being grateful for what they have
>sour grapes
???
A bunch of stuff that was nearly done was cut so they could release a month early and not have to compete with Starfield for consumer attention.
So a bunch of companions don't really have proper ends to their stories, Baldur's Gate doesn't have the upper city available, the ending is on par with Mass Effect 3, and a bunch more problems like all the bugs that crop up later in the game.
The problem is none of the content in act 3 works. You can't get around things the way you could in act 1 and 2. Everything is on rails.
>Karlach origin can side with the goblins, slaughter the grove and recruit minthara
>Wyll origin can side with the goblins, slaughter the grove and recruit minthara
>PC sides with the goblins, slaughters the grove and recruits Minthara
>Wyll and Karlach leave
Minthara patch when?
Hopefully patch 1 which should be soonTM
>players complain about Wyll because they don’t want Black folk in the game
>Swen misinterprets this and takes away his only redeeming quality (but he’s still a Black person).
sad, you hate to see it folks
No, he was just extremely unpopular in the ea.
Can't fix him no matter what.
post Minthara joke
>mogs Gayle, the zoophile, eldritch low tier god and the moronic hamster guy with a single pun
Oh frick you homosexual, now i have to recruit her.
She has no content whatsoever. Finished game ready to ship btw
>ChildIsSomeoneElses
uh oh
Yeah if you don't claim responsibility the game will just say it's someone else's kid.
oh, that's not as bad as I thought
It's probably hopefully a way to let female toons interact with a preggo Minthara. Sure hope it's not cuck content, Larian would be dead to me. Drow pussy is no joking matter.
>ChildIsPlayers
Aweso-
>ChildIsSomeoneElses
What the frick
she's a Menzoberranzan drow, you need to keep her on a tight leash if you don't want her sleeping around
>Cuck content
LOOOOOOOOOL
LMAOOOOOOO
MINTHARABROOOOOOS WHAT THE FRICK HAHAHAHAHAHA
I want her but with all her cut content, I'd pretty much wait for the Definitive Edition once they announce it. Or a BG3 Restoration Project.
>Definitive Edition
they already said it’s not happening
Sauce or your a lying Black person
Source? They said that there would be no DLCs but every single Definite Edition has been free so far.
No they said they have no plans for DLC/expansions but if they just fix the game and restore the cut content that is already in the game files that would be "enhanced edition" worthy.
They said they’re doing patches then moving onto divinity 3
The game has outsold DOS2 in the span of 3 weeks. They sure as frick better polish it.
why would they sell past the sale?
you bought it, you likely can't get a refund, what incentive is there to improve it rather than work on the next game?
long-tail sales
Why did they fix DOS2 then by your logic?
To show wotc they can make bg3.
We will get a half passed de for bg3, I'm certain. The next two games will be smaller in scope and likely released sooner.
It's going to get ported to PS5 and Xbox for one. People calling the game unfinished would negatively impact their console sales.
Because if they address the main points of criticism (performance and an unfinished act 3) the good word of mouth will carry this games sales for years.
This. People are genuinely turning their opinions around on CP2077 and Fallout 76. Decades ago you'd have your apology tour as an objectively superior expansion pack, nowadays devs just patch in good shit and everyone forgets about launch.
It's also kind of silly NOT to do anything with all the sheer amount of cut content they probably left on the table. Their smartest idea is to polish up whatever is left. It's money left on the table for them to print.
There's so much datamined stuff that seems to be right at the finish line too
Cut content is gone for good. You will get patch 1 minthara, and for DE some bug fixes, ui improvements (kek) and three items and a dice skin, bye.
That is potentially a good thing since that would mean that we might actually see some restored content within a year. From what I've read they don't even know what they want to do yet since they don't want to make another CRPG again so recently after BG3, so unless DoS3 is an action RPG or 6 years away then I don't think they are going to have that as their next project
They'd need a completely new team for any genre other than Turn Based cRPGs. It's all they've been making the last few years since that's all they can currently do.
It'd be nice to see a continuation of the mainline Divinity games. Damian is still out there being a bald prick.
Sure, they say that now, but this game is printing money and they already put the work in on a lot of cut content. There's no way they won't eventually do it
they have to say that whether it's happening or not in order to not cannibalise sales of the original version. What, are you going to take them to court for lying in 3 years when BG3:DE drops?
kinda like when that fricker said the TWEWY countdown wasn't just a soundtrack and mobile port
They all say that. Then 8 months later they announce it.
No sane company is going to admit their game is busted on any level - that's going to kill sales and people will just end up waiting for a Definitive Edition instead.
Even with missing content she is easily the best companion
Manface
Chinlet.
Shadowpubes
I like how everyone dropped karlach like shit the moment they found out you can impregnate minthara
I'm still devoted to my large red wife, I just refuse to keep playing the game until they re-implement her good ending
They need to implement Avernus and Upper City for that.
It'll never happen.
Upper City is literally in the game, they just to fricking make it explorable and re-implement the questlines they blatantly cut at the last minute
she's a big girl
She's the origin companion with the least amount of content. She quite literally has no Act 3 quests. The upper city getting cut gutted her character
Good, this spastic lesbo is annoying. Shadowheart femcel all the way
there's killing Gortash, and honestly the monologue when she realises she's still completely fricked is absolutely fantastic, but apart from that it's barren
>no "I can save her" Minthara route
Frick this gay realm.
Technically you do save her.
you literally save her though, that's the only way to recruit her
LOVE minthara
PROTECT minthara
KILL karlACK
Seriously why is her jaw so fricking huge and manly?
bitter KarlACK Black person detected
Answer the question
Gale is still basically evil tbh. He approves of meager little unimportant good acts, but any time some measure of personal power is involved he just wants you to go for it. He wants you to read Necromancy of Thay, he wants you to craft an undead pixie lantern, he thinks it's a great idea to seize control of the Absolute for yourself. He's a classic power hungry wizard and if he wasn't such a redditor most of time it'd be cool.
Shadowheart on the other hand is just faking being evil.
>Realize Gale is basically just Kvothe from Kingkiller Chronicals
>Immediately understand that he is the villain
>Tell him to blow himself up for funsies
Just give me custom hirelings, Larian.
Just start 3 instances of the game and make custom chars
Larian CEO said no new races/classes are planned, and no higher levels. So the best we can get is a better version of act 3 and a couple of new quests.
The copium is over… we are lost larian scammed us
I still like the game a lot despite the gay shit, the horny shit, the prog shit, and the poor 3rd act. Really, I'm just happy there's a new game that fills the void in my heart where Dragon Age Origins went
Okay, which one of you frickers was it?
reads like xbox live hatemail from the 2000s
Dang they put swen's rpgcodex posts in the game?
it was me
Heliabros...2023...we are forgotten...it's over...
Asset flip in casador castle werewolves love vampires.
I saved before the important decision so I can see the proper end slides when they come out in patch 1 :3
>Didn't take Shadowheart to her goth girlboss convention to meet a literal cenobite
>She leaves in a huff
What the frick was her problem? Is she just mad I bring frog girl with me instead of her? I don't need her gay spells, I'm a paladin
she had an epic quest to kill nightsong bro......
Tav could've become vampire or werewolf, that was scrapped very early on though. All the dialogues are on yt, even the early ones.
>that was scrapped very early on though
They literally talked about vampire transformations in the last panel of hell. Remember when they confirmed marriage too? Where the frick is it?
I skipped 80% of it, as the cretin spoilered non stop. Marriage, kek. Patron interaction, kek. Tav is from bg, kek. She had a house or flat, kek. Friends and family, kek.
>Remember when they confirmed marriage too?
It's only hearsay so don't take it as gospel. Apparently Gale can propose to your character if you're in a relationship with him near the end. Though I've never seen it myself so I'm not sure.
what the frick, really?
TWAT SOUL
Was it explained why the duergar could communicate telepathically?
Part of their racial backstory. The shorties got enslaved by Illithids, only much more recently than the Gith. So instead of becoming freakass abhumans, they got minor psychic powers and free Enlarge and Invisibility.
Shouldn't the gith have that, too?
the gith have a ton of psychic powers, yes
No non tadpole telepathic communication in bg3.
It doesn't come up but they literally have telepathy and the dragonriders form psionic bonds with their mounds
Sure, just not in bg3.
There are wonky workarounds. Likely will never get fixed. I really studied the dataminr and I believe they started to work on act 2 and 3 end of 2022. Likely when money stopped raining from the sky.
Don't the Inquisitor and local Kith'rak talk to you in your mind?
Do they? Not that I remember.
They do, Githyanki get Mage Hand, Jump, and Misty Step for free as they level. NPC Gith also get free parries like the cheating bastards they are.
>RALLY
>no plans to do an extended edition
>no plans to fix cut content
>no plans to add in more companions and classes/races
Well Atleast they’ll fix the bugs
>source: my ass
DOS1 and DOS2 both got free definitive editions
Republished nexus mods mostly and micro quests and 2 items or so
>>no plans to add in more companions
we don't need more. the 8 is already more than enough, considering what a fricking chore it is to change them
Are we not talking about how embarrassing it is that Sarevok got downgraded to a city councilman so is grand daughter could girlboss the whole world?
Was talked about deliberately. Some lv 8 toons have the same stats as he does.
Brutal mogging. Why would Bhaal bring him back just to embarass him like this
Gorion's Ward brought him back way back in BG2
>get cheesed to death by #CHARNAME in 1
>get revived in 2, fail to make a full face turn and get slapped down by #CHARNAME again
>have to hide out and manage the dipshit degenerate Bhaal cult your step-granddaughter is ruining
>some complete rando with a worm in his head comes along ready to cheese you to death too
>Sarevok's face when
>illasera
Literally who
I, too, was pissed about the Wyll rewrite because, even though he was a filthy nog, his story was way better and much more interesting as a "loser who took shortcuts" (implications being, he actually becomes the hero throughout the story) as opposed to what it is now "i am duh blade homieaaa, fuggin demons and shieeeet oh lawd my pappu"
Tfw no one talks about how blatantly great astarion is in gameplay if you do the vampire ritual.
It’s why I’m running him as my character on my second playthrough.
>if you do the vampire ritual.
But he was so happy when I told him not to do the big evil 🙁
what happens if he does the ritual?
I told him not because I was dark urge so I didn't want anybody strong enough to resist my influence.
He gets a free d10 necro damage added to all of his attack rolls, and a couple of neat vampire abilities like a much stronger bite that does massive damage and ability to turn into mist and become very hard to hit.
Honestly the free d10 added to every attack he does alone is worth it
damn, what he gets sounds a million times better than what durge gets for being the last and final bhaalspawn.
It absolutely is.
Speaking of the Tav/Durge split. For my Evil/Murderhobo run, should I go Evil Tav, or Durge?
Murderhobo go DUrge. For sane evil playthrough go Tav.
Frick no. Dark Urge is a straight up Tav upgrade, you get more content, more items, more voicelines, more RP options, more party interaction and more endings. There's no reason whatsoever to not pick it over vanilla Tav, even on a first playthrough
Well, I wouldn’t go murderhobo durge on a first playthrough. Act 2 is a bit rough without the backup from last light inn for a new player.
You don't have to murder hobo as a dark urge though. Resisting the urge is basically another path and the rolls are pretty forgiving. You even get a special ending if you reject the urges.
True true.
I hope with the success of Dark Urge and the news that DU was going to originally be custom Tav that they go all in on custom origins for DOS3. Have it be like DAO origins but more involved over the entire course of the game like DU.
>that they go all in on custom origins for DOS3. Have it be like DAO origins but more involved over the entire course of the game like DU.
Bro I'd have no beef with the Origin system if it were designed ala DAO instead of having to LARP as Larian's edgy OCs.
>You don't have to murder hobo as a dark urge though
Alfira would disagree
>he doesn't know
You can scare her away and a dragonborn bard will replace her
and the story makes more sense with durge
but no choice but to go murder hobo to get minthara
Soon
Finally.
Expect bug fixes and balance changes. Nothing more, nothing less.
Hopefully the bug fixes is fixing the bugged out ending
>change party members
>remember that the character I just changed out has the item I need
Going from Pathfinder to this, the inventory management is completely fricked.
don't you need a mod to have a search function in Pathfinder
Nope
I 100% believe that player houseing was in the works at one point, considering how many fricking paintings there are in this game. You would probably be able to display them in your house
are the paintings just reused shit from DOS2
how do i get a house camp in act 3 anyway? saw someone have one of those but i guess i didn't choose or explore more. was already losing my patience at this point that i forgot to do the water goddess temple part
you can rent a room at the Elfsong Tavern
Still looking for my zhent friend 🙁
Rugen? You sure he's alive? should have been a shag
Yeah, likely died.
Is the boat in moonrise going to bg? Can you skip moonrise and sneak past the army?
>Is the boat in moonrise going to bg?
no it goes back to last light
Laughable.
Honestly, yeah.
are doomposters the most boring genre of posters?
What are the chances from 1 to 10 this stuff gets added back in.
maybe like a 7-8 for the quests broken by the cuts and fixing the ending
3-4 for actually reimplementing the Upper City
please tell me you can frick the tiefling bard girl
yes as durge
No it’s cut content, you used to be able to marry her In the good ending
I forgot to spoil that cazador was an influencial politician with an archduke thrall and Raphael basically made cazador. You could even side with cazador. Everything recorded and cut.
Is the creche obligatory or optional? Will I be forced to go there if go directly to the unerdark instead?
It's interesting. Go after underdark, so the gith are pushovers. There's a bit of story.
Cut content: orin raiding the creche and tadpoling kith'rak voss red dragon.
>tadpoling kith'rak voss red dragon.
is that why is face is fricked up in act 3? Literally no one mentions it
Yes.
Does anyone know tlwhat the deal with shar and the devils (or demons?) is? They are always together.
Optional but you should do it. You will miss a whole level of exp if you don’t.
You can skip either the Creche or the Underdark, and I think even there you don't have to do their related quests.
The moment you get to Grymforge and the moment you enter the Creche you can just run to the exits and skip out on all the XP, content, and loot.
>You can skip either the Creche
for real? But the story there seems essencial to the overall plot
nope you can completely ignore it
its worth it. only hard parts is the gith are strong if you aren't prepared to fight them all, and those rats that lose their shit if you use magic are a pain
>rats
>"hiss"
Can you even give the spectator flask to the Zentarim in Act 3? I've been holding that chest for 50 hours now. And no one at the guild seem to care about it?
>he opened the chest
You’re supposed to give it to them in act 1.
There’s a hidden base under the tavern that gets set in fire
They tasked to me replace Rugal and give the chest to their smuggler in baldur's gate.
Likely not. IMHO it's food for gale or free xp or summon for difficult (kek) fight.
>tfw you carried the Lump Horn into Baldur's Gate
>still can't find a fight worth using him in
>tfw you want that INT crown
I really didn't expect merchants to be so rare and them usually only have 2 unique items. No weapon craft after ssusur and adamantine. Chk.
Is that so? The actual #2 of all gods can't resurrect you? Hard to believe. Didn't bard and sorceror say that weave isn't the source of their magic at all?
>s that so? The actual #2 of all gods can't resurrect you?
He can, but he can't separate the tadpole from you. All magic comes from Mystra. Literal goddess of magic, and she's DEAD SET on those rules for a very good reason.
All magic in D&D interacts with the weave. Mages manipulate it directly, Clerics get it from their gods who absorb it from the weave and obey the limits imposed on them. Nobody wants a second Folly.
Divine magic does not come from Mystra, only arcane magic
I see. Don't know much about the lore. Gets constantly retconned anyway, like act 2 boom oh, how could you, all dead and act 3 boom, oh, all baddies dead.
check the shed behind the burning inn, there's a hidden zhentarim outpost
dont check out the cut content anon, you'll seethe even more. (even i was annoyed it was cut)
writign your oc to bang the god of magic is fricking cringe, was cringe when the old guy had his self-insert frick half the world, its cringe now
Also they ripped it off wholesale from a popular fantasy series. All the way down to the fact that he goes behind the magic goddesses' back and fricks with magic that puts the entire world in danger
No I'm not kidding
>No I'm not kidding
Hate when people say shit like this before anyone asked.
No one thinks you're kidding
>Popular thing from medium with infamously poor writing standards stole from popular medium with higher writing standards
Shocking
>fantasy writing in any medium
>higher standards than anything
Than games? Yes. Games are a genre where you can just go
>Lol the prince souplexes the dragon (he couldn't do this 5 mins ago (he leveled up once (we will not explain what leveling is*~~ and that's that
In a book you'd have to sit there and explain the moronic mechanics, in a game its just magic
>souplex
>Souplexes
I'd be more insulted if this wasn't such an esl trainwreck
who the frick are the madmen who let volo the hack """""operate"""""" on you?
you get a straight permanent buff with no downsides, you should always do it
thought it was a permanent debuff
nah that's if you let the hag take your eye, you get -1 perception (although it opens up other dialogue options for you about battling with a hag and losing your eye at different points, and it gives you a +1 for intimidation)
He gives you an eye that sees invisible enemies, it's busted
It’s funny and he gives you a magic eye that lets you see invisibility. Which is very good in act 2
>metagaming
i shiggy diggy
He seemed confident
inspiration should be uncapped and the amount of times you can reroll be four. As it is it essentially makes the cap three but then you run into situations like the book of thay that gives a sage two if done a certain way which doesn't actually give you the double anyway because lol.
the real madmen are just the ones who did it on their first run without knowing there's no downside. also on that note is there anything different that happens if you do volo and the hags eye stuff?
also if you let the hag take your eye then you can't let volo do the surgery. the option to let him is replaced with "better not, I only have 1 good eye left"
not sure what happens if you let the hag take it after volo though, probably either the same thing or she takes your invisible vision eye and replaces it with the hag eye
>Go to the creche
>Get told what to do by frog dorks
>Don't do what they want me to do (FRICK YOU WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME)
>Kill everyone there
>Smash egg lmao
>Find frog girl's "worm cure"
>Idk kinda seems like it'd just kill you
>Turns out it just kills you
These people are so one note and predictable. Shocking how they're still the only race with any defining characteristics
I finished it and replayed a couple of times taking different routes and I could tell a lot of content was stripped. It sucks because I fricking love this game anyway
Why the frick dumbasses keep whining about cut content as if it was SUPPOSED to be in the release? It was cut for a reason. And, technically speaking, you should have not know about it. It's your problem, that you know now, not Larian's. If they would love to add it - they will add it.
Crap like "ASAP" should be returned back into your ass, from where you have pulled it in the first place.
Content that was cut halfway into early access shouldn't be cried over, it's the shit that was obviously doable that they cut for time that deserves the upset.
If they had the time to animate and write multiple sex scenes for gay shit and threesomes, they had time do write better story beats. DMimg isn't hard.
You'll look so dumb once they'll restore the cut content in a year or two.
They won’t restore cause it was cut for good reason.
yeah, that reason being "we moved out launch up a month to avoid competing with Starfield but the end of the game doesn't fricking work so let's just cut it"
Yes, that reason being Starfield being out in August. They'll bring it back, and you'll look like a tard and I'll be here telling you I told you so.
They’re working on divinity 3 now not cut content
Yeah, writers and designers are doing that. The rest of them are polishing BG3. Something something pre-production
Clearly not, as they never finished the initially planned story.
The way to go would be: finish story, start setting tone and design and then start coding. Not back and forth and redesigning act 1 20 times.
Doubt it. They cancelled two divinity games since 2018. New ip and new wotc game. Swen said he wants to cut 40% staff and work on two projects. Dos2 had 60 people peak and was finished in 2y.
Because without it the final release has a shitty, broken 3rd act that makes no sense and doesn't flow with the rest of the game where the previous choices you made seem to stop mattering and any choice you make going forward is irrelevant or leads to being railroaded
The entire game is completely different from what was put forward in EA to the point it almost feels like they baited their own dev team and the upper management always intended to gayify the entire game. The groundwork was laid for a successful multi-demographic game. For frick sake we have
>Questionably hot moron fighter trope
>That Girl's first DnD cleric
>Gay theatre kid's daywalker vampire
>Wyll Smith
>Butch b***h who is sexually frustrated OOC
>Veteran DnD players reformed Lolthsworn Drow Paladin
>Dragon Hitler MC choice
All hidden under an acceptable veneer of PC bullshit with a solid homebrew for computer DND. Then they shafted half of the backstories, turned the waifu generator character creation into choose your Squid Spacey's illusory catfish body and neglected act 3. Frick these Black folk.
WE DO NOT CARE
Can I get Slayer™ form and still go redeemed route for Dyrge? When am I locked in for evil route?
>When am I locked in for evil route?
never lol, your choices don't matter. You could kill everyone in the game and still get good ending or kill barely anyone and get evil ending
wtf, Belgians are master race now
Slayer form sucks anyways, from a purely mechanical standpoint having the back up for the moonrise towers fight is more useful than the entire slayer form with its piss poor dps.
Missed opportunity.
There is no lock in really, you can go all the way up to not taking over the Absolute even if you did every other Bhaal related interaction and wholesale slaughtered the grove, goblin camp, the creche, etc.
CDPR had the right idea. Stop announcing release dates until you're absolutely sure it's ready to release. Well, that, and not being a publicly traded company.
cyberpunk needed like 5 years a whole anime and an entire rework of the game via the DLC coming to perhaps be more than a fancy graphics showcase, shut the frick up
Obviously I'm talking about pre 2015, pre ESG wiener sucking, CDPR
yeah, OBVIOUSLY you are talking about almost a decade in the past, my bad bro
Obviously I fricked your mother raw dog last night
And how did that work out
Cyberunked 2077 was when they went public
Yeah, I know bought directly after it tanked. Dividends are OK.
how do I do melee rogue?
You dont
walk up to him and press attack button
Multiclass him with Fighter, Ranger, or Paladin and take any equipment that gives you Advantage on enemies for free sneak attacks. If you check your Reactions as a Paladin you can make it so that Sneak Attacks also let you smite.
get gloomstalker 6, thief 4 and fighter 2, take the feat that lets you dual wield non light weapons and fight with rapiers. you will get an extra attack from gloomstalker(+ initiative), two bonus actions from thief(you can hit with your off hand), and extra action from fighter(if you want, pump dex obviously
The best dex weapons end up being shortswords anyways, you can get better feats
>short swords
i haven't found a single fricking one, also you can take viconias mace and use str weapons
Buy from the gith merchant in the creche, there's other stuff in act2 in moonrise tower I think that has a 1d8 psychic damage extre for no reason for offhand
thx ill try them
How in the frick have you not got the shortsword of first blood from the deep gnome bodies. Turns you into an 80s slasher villain on full health attacks
Know he’s trying to melee but this also works hilariously well with dual handcrossbows
He's likely trying to melee because the dual crossbow builds just aren't fun since you end up attacking and killing almost everything in one go, specially if you get gale to give you haste in a fight
>Unleash thousands of vampires onto the sword coast
>Assteareon tells a nameless, shirtless NPC to "keep em outta trouble"
Holy shit fellas, I think I just ruined the world
Only brainlets don’t let Astarion ascend. It’s by far the safest option
But what about all of Asstearion's boyfrieds? 🙁
Yoo send them to demon babby jirls for to show bobs to you
why does all gear are bad. like, all items that i found, rare and uncommon and so on, have some useless stuff. like in first 5 minutes you finding weapon+1. and after 50 hours im finding "weapon+1 but 1d4 fire damage only when in stealth, dark territory, being obscured and casting spells in meele, and only 1 time, with cooldown of one long rest"
never seen such bad items ever
and skills of characters, feats, all of them shit. we have 12 levels on each character/class/job. and on half of levels you are not even getting one new skill or stats.
Good morning sirs
Yoo must bai thes gaem, the ladies show bob
Sirs pls do not redeem soil coin
wtf was the use for them
You put them in Karlach and she has a troon rage
oh mine left after I murdered all tieflings and druids
Not killing the demonspawn napalm bomb yourself
giving Karlach an extra 1d4 fire damage
That’s it? Lol I missed nothing by not ever using them in the only playthrough I partied her. This one I killed her with Wyll so he didn’t get turned into a tiefling
you meant "salaam rocky bhai"
tiny little baby hands
>Multiclassed
Didn't beat the game
There's about 0 reason not to multiclass fighter into any melee build you're making, ranger into any ranged build, etc
All companions benefit greatly from multiclassing from act2 onwards
