Neither did I. The only N64 game I still own and play is Sin & Punishment. Bangai-O was great but the Dreamcast version was better.

    >tl;dr: 3D Sonic > 3D Mario. I appreciate Sonic the Hedgehog's faux edgy persona and attitude over Super Mario's bland Mickey Mouse-esque non personality.
I can appreciate the fact that most mainline Mario games can be expected to be well polished, fundamentalist platformers that almost always look and play great in context of the time in which they were released. 2D or 3D, Mario games tend to set the standard of what a mascot platformer should be, and everyone tries to imitate or defy him to some degree - especially Sonic.
I can also acknowledge that Sonic games, especially since the year 1999, tend to either be hit or miss experimental affairs that people either love or hate to death, or well liked but flawed nostalgia bait cash grab affairs.
I'm under no illusion about who has ultimately been more successful. But Sega does what Nintendon't, and dammit, that still means something to me. I like that SA and SA2 attempt to be more cinematic and character driven than Mario's often simplistic efforts. I like that Sonic and Eggman crack stupid jokes at each other, and the fact that Sonic often speaks full sentences in between buzzwords like "yahoo" and "let's go" and has conversations with other characters that drive the story.

This but Zelda in general. I just don't find Link cool enough to play as, that is all.

I did borrow majora's mask from my friend for the longest time w/ a guide book though, so Majora's mask ended up being my favorite

Shenmue, while technically a marvel, is a rather pretentious, occasionally funny, oftentimes boring and obtuse game better watched than played. Even then, the story frustratingly never quite gets to the point, three games in, with the third being a crowdfunded effort that was only made because enough people wanted to story to finally conclude, and they couldn't even bring themselves to do that. Now we may never know how the story ends, unless they round up more fan dollars and use up even more of their goodwill.

You typed up a bynch of crap to say that Shenmue isnt as good as its hyped up to be. Nobody will argue that. Shenmue 1 was ahead of the curve in certain aspects, its also dated as frick in a lot of things. The sequels somehow manage to play the same way as the first so they get shit on by modern games since just about every big AAA open world games does what Shenmue did first but way better and isnt as stiff.

Also the story is frustrating in that the main character is an autist and the story never gets to the point. The bad guy gets away at the end of 3 like a villain in Batman or a Flash Gordon serial or something, here's a hint: the subtext behind the scenes in real life is just an older Japanese man begging the fans for more money to finish this 20+ year old project. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth

The Zelda franchise as a whole is overrated, the imitators are often more inventive and fun than the originals

Well, that's because you're a BotW homosexual who thinks Zelda always played like an Elder Scrolls game.
