I didn't know devils were so easy to kill in D&D 5e. Don't they usually just get vanquished back to hell?

Devils are pesky because they usually rock good passive defenses with resistances to certain damage types, immunities to certain damage types and conditions, and advantage on all saves from magic while also having crowd control magic themselves.

      >resistances to certain damage
aren't they usually just resistant to fire and that's it?

Why do leftoids keep pushing this "devils are le good guys ackshually" angle in media?

homosexuals identify with literal demons because they know they're evil and want to frick kids

because devils would most like be into the shit that leftoids enjoy (drug abuse, tyranny, gayness, troonyism, not getting told by dad and mom to go to church on sundays, not having children, etc)

        >leftoids

Devils would be into torture, genocide, human medical experiments, and mass rape. The things that Hitler and his friends liked.

There are actual devils in the game (Well Cambions), they are definitely not "the good guys actually."

Tieflings aren't devils, they're people who have been fricked over by their ancestors dealing with devils.
Devils are still absolutely evil. If anything Tieflings are meant to show how dealing with Devils is a fricking terrible decision which will frick over not just you butbalso your descendents.

Didn't Tieflings also tend to be more inclined to be evil in older editions, given their devil or demon ancestry?

In some cases yes. Afaik lots of races underwent rewrites to accomodate them being playable in more environments. Drow got the same thing.

Weren't most races always playable? It was just up to the actual player to write a reasonable backstory to why you wanted a lawful good orc for example.

              Anonymous

Yeah in most cases that's how it would work, and even nownyou can still play those races as evil without much issue, it was just a matter of 'Let's make it easier for players to use these characters in more circumstances'. Ease of access shit.

Thankfully this is nowhere in the game as the devils you do interact with are evil.

Because it's a full branching-narrative crpg, but with AAA production values. So it's got all the branching quests, dialogue trees, party banter, and tactical combat that make these games great, but also full voice acting as well as nice 3d models and fully rendered environments constantly shown in closeup. I wouldn't call DnD 5e best in class as far as combat and character progression systems go. But it is well known and popular and Larian spice it up a bit with their usual environment interaction stuff. Many of the games in this genre are fantastic, but most people have trouble getting over the fact that the interaction is largely a bunch of reading and looking at small isometric models or sprites. BG3 overcomes that.
