He always wanted to make starfield, but TES games were his babies as well, his eyes light up when he remembers morrowind and oblivion development in interviews.
The series he clearly never gave a frick about was Fallout, I don't know why bethesda even keeps making them since they clearly don't really like the setting, I think Emil is the only guy that genuinely gives a shit about it and it's just to shove his shitty father son stories in.

He’ll have to release some expansions for starfield before working on the next elder scrolls full time. Considering starfield took 8 years of development. He’ll be well into his 60’s when the next elder scrolls comes out

I don't see him making TES6 anyway. If Starfield is successful, which let's be honest it will be because it's a new platform for mods, he'll make DLC for it and ultimately a sequel then he's done.

Very obvious cashgrab to get microsoft to buy them and paypig for starfield. Wrong on a PR point of view, but achieved their purpose financially.
The bigger problem is F76, that tarnished the reputation of the company beyond belief (deserved, don't get me wrong, it was embarrassing). It's because of that game Starfield lacks some hype.

I never said it was, but todd made the right calls to make it a best seller, which is his job. It's fricked up, but that is his first priority, not necessarily because he wants it to be (maybe he does, I'm no mind reader), but because it's what he is paid for.

I figured as much. I didn't expect him to stick around very much longer after Starfield, that's the game that he has really wanted to make, so it makes sense to end his career afterward. I guess he'll stick around for TESVI to wrap things up.

think about it for a moment. why on earth would this video game corporate suit be declaring his retirement years in advance (es6 coming in 2026, earliest). He's taking advantage of his "e-celeb" status to advertise the games by giving it a mystical allure, where we're meant to think it's going to be his magnum opus and crowning achievement. Black person, please. I've got a bridge to sell you on procedurally generated planet 746

  25. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

Actually he said it'd likely be his last Elder Scrolls game. Given it's already been TWELVE FRICKING YEARS since Skyrim released, and ES6 is at least 2 years away and likely more, it's not surprising to think Todd might have retired in another 20 years when they get around to ES7.

Predicted this but then again it wasn't that hard to see coming. I'd imagine he'd still remain someone that can come around randomly and see how things are coming along and offer help, but seeing the Starfield promotion stuff and the interviews he's done it's becoming more obvious that his age is catching up. Realistically by the time ES6 comes out, what more would he want to do? Between Starfield and ES6 he'll have the perfect final chapter to leave with.
