I love when characters labelled "fool" offer the greatest insights to the stories
seneschal is basically a willpower battery that the world drains to sustain itself. when it runs dry the dragon goes and finds a new one.
The Seneschal says himself that there was no beginning to the cycle and there will be no end, it is eternal going both ways.
i'm pretty sure there will be a giga god above the Seneschal in the next dragons dogma, they need it to keep it exciting, it would be boring if you knew how the whole thing works right from the start, at the very least there will be twist to the order of things

It was the original concept for the Everfall. They changed it to a big hole in the ground during development so it could be in Gran Soren, but the stuff about it being shared by all worlds didn’t make it into the final game. Pawns still allude to this when you’re in the main shaft of the Everfall though, they frequently go on about it being “a nexus linking all the worlds”.

I was under the impression that the NG cycle isn’t really canon. But then seeing that Savan pulls the godsbane from his chest, it does seem to be something he did before.
My take on it is that your story ends the way his did, in that you an hero, which separates your spirit to become the seneschal, and gives your body to your pawn.
But then you’ll need someone else to come and kill you how you did with Savan, because the seneschal can’t kill themselves really, they just sever their connection to their body when they godsbane, and this require another arisen to come and take over when they get bored or whatever.
I dunno. It all gets a bit weird since that poses the question of where the dragon comes from, since you become one of you fail to defeat the seneschal.
I honestly think they just had shit happen cos it was cool, without really thinking through the issues that…arise…from it.
But whatever the case, it’s cool. And I liked when my pawn looked back out to sea, directly at me, and nodded in thanks for the chad body and sexy waifu I gave her.
Also, I really liked cassardis, so the fact that the story ends there is really nice.
The dragon's dogma is that only those with the will to throw themselves whole heartedly into strife and come out stronger are worthy to inherit responsibility of godhood. Arisenship is all just an extended interview to find the best candidate.

BBI is the wish made by a moronic arisen, he asked for a way to "break the cycle" thus an island that exists in between worlds was created and it lures in all Arisen from all worlds to it.
When an arisen dies he becomes one of those minor drakes, the fire one are red vocation arisen, the ice ones are blue and the wind ones are yellow. But in BBI if an arisen dies his corpse just stays there, but their will persists, that's why when you first enter the island the corpses have "echoes", incidentally that's what drove the Arisen that would then become the Reaper insane.
The old turd in the hill was simply too much of a pussy and the duke took the bargain, but the world isn't really fricked so I don't think its been that long.

And the old guy has some ancient vibes, like he is supposed to be from a "Greek" like era, but then again Savan became seneschal and he appears to be more "recent", so either he is from our world and the Dragon at that time chose another Arisen instead of waiting for the old frick, or he is from one of those other worlds. I mean clearly there can be more than one Arisen running around at the same time, so maybe The Dragon just decided wether or not you are taking too long to face him so he goes on to snatch another mfs heart.
Also what's with the whole "Duke" thing, why not a king? a Duke is lower in the hierarchy of Monarchy and only rules over a duchy, but everyone treats and refers the Duke as a you would a King, and Gransys is apparently a whole country, not just a duchy.

I looked it up and apparently Gransys is indeed a duchy, but is neighbouring another country named Voldoa, which is where Julien comes from, and they don't want the duke to become too powerful.
But then that means the Dragon only turns you into a fricking Duke, not a king, what a fricking scam.
Gransys is a duchy, it just appears to be sovereign as there's no mention of the duke being anyone's vassal. And while in real life most duchies were parts of larger kingdoms, sovereign duchies that were too small/weak to be considered kingdoms did exist. And Gransys' political system is a little strange anyway considering Edmund was seemingly granted his title by the people of Gran Soren or its nobles or something for "slaying" the dragon.
I mean, realistically as an Emperor or King having someone that "felled" a dragon as a Duke for one of your provinces is a political power move.

What you're missing is that cannons are gay and overrated. All you really need is the shield buff and that's the longest lasting and fastest casting. You can throw a weapon enchant or anguish on too if you feel like it, but it's not like you'll suck without them.

Some say 40 is good to use everything, and so far she didn't exhaust herself after a single cast.
Level 51 is the requirement for all BBI lv.3 weapons.
Below that their stamina regen is reduced massively and skills consume more stamina.

outside of battle come! raises medicant and go! raises pioneer
There is utility to commands out of combat. "Go!" makes your ranger take the shot at a distant enemy and "Help!" makes your mage enchant your party's weapons.
Come! in combat raises Guardian, out of combat it raises medicant (out of combat inclination changes have a cooldown though).
Generally Go! in combat and Help! are safe. Come! is kinda useless and raises a bad inclination so just avoid using it.

Yep, using this method essentially locks your inclinations in place including the minor third one that isn't listed on your pawn in game. Unless you're constantly jamming help! or come! it should keep your pawn from floating back to "guardian" or whatever.

You can put it in your storage to keep it fresh. It will only wilt when you keep it in your inventory for a full day. You can spend time with it in your inventory and then put it in storage before the day is over and it will reset.
The flower wilts after a day in your inventory but all item decay is halted in storage.
If you leave a perishable in storage for 3 days the timer resets. So you can either dupe the flower once and try to shove it in storage and sleep 3 times every day, or do what I do and dupe it 4 times, then rotate through the flowers every day. It does cost 180k per flower though. Also

No monikers are just what the game uses when parental controls are set to be on. I didn't even know it was possible to manually use them, I just assumed they did nothing on the PC version.

doesn't seem to be in the options menu for some dumb reason but an old threat on reddit says the character editor you buy in the encampment from the old pawn at the rift stone there (one time only, unles you do NG+) can allow you to switch your name, you most likely didn't imput a name and so it went for your moniker or it deleted your real name for some reason. Seems to be the only fix

I'd put warrior above mage just because being bad but unique is better than being a sorcerer with half of your spell list cut, a weapon that does the exact same thing but is weaker, and objectively worse stat growth in exchange for being a healbawd for AI
Not necesary being a healbawd for pawns since you can raise them free for half hp or more with aun augment, kinda pissed the only party enchantments are only mystic knight shield spells and you cant enchant your staff yourself

not really. the stat growths are arguably inflated as it is and you can get a shitload of stats from BBI equipment, if you don't mind fashion.

Limiting yourself like that brings sole depth to gameplay and imo is fun, but it's not required at all.
But I would recommend getting 2x ring of perseverance for that dcp gain.

Give her the arisen bond for easy max out affinity, make your there is NO ONE ELSE with max out affinity before the quest where she leaves, so she is the last person with max out affinity you talk to before Grigori kills the manlet.
When the cutscene of him flying away and dropping the ring you gave her, then you will know shit is safe.
As long as Mercedes is the last person with high affinity you talked to before you do the quest Deny Salvation, she'll be your beloved. You should probably focus on the main quests until then, since some of the side quests will max out the affinity of other characters.
Is there any indicator for affinity? I noticed Madeleine always greets me whenever I enter the inn. I haven't done anything to her, just did both of the escort quest. I spammed Cloudwines with Mercedes though. But never had any unique interaction like when I'm with Madeleine.
Arisen bond? I'm on a quest to hunt Salomet at the Bluemoon Tower. Haven't done any quest that gave me the Arisen bond thing.

At close to max they start blushing with a pink glow around them and there's a "chime" noise when you talk to them. Them saying hi to you as you walk by is another indicator that they like you.

But you're probably fine. You pretty much have to do some quests for people that raise their affinity. But so long as Mercedes is the only one you have maxed out, she'll be your beloved. And if anyone else starts getting pink in the face, bully them. Pick them up and carry them around, feed them liquid effluvium. If they're not in gran soren you could even just attack them.
Arisen Bond is from a quest you can start in the Witch Wood, IF you did the Witch Hunt quest to save Selene. You pick up a slab of stone from the ground next to the grave where that quest ended.

Playing for the first time and I turned in some evidence + escorted some dude to the trial for making Fournival not guilty and my pawns went "he will be found innocent for sure!" but he was found guilty and the game saved so I can't go back. I've gotten him exonerated without the forgeries, with just the 3 positive character references, the chamberlain's affidavit, and the windbluff escort. I was just curious about the notice board quest because if you read it it sound like they're going to use it to frick over Fournival and I wouldn't put it past this game to have something like that actually matter later on.

The rapier is unique and the best reward from that quest, though it's outclassed by the Dragon's Dogma which you get immediately afterwards. Still it looks cool. Plus I think it's relatively easy to silver rarify it.
What is the most fun vocation in your opinion?
For me personally it's Magick Archer because I have an everlasting hardon for artillery. I wish more games let you be a walking MLRS.
I've played every vocation and I'd say my favorites are Ranger, Fighter, Warrior, and Sorcerer in that order.
Mystic Knight is one of the most unique classes I've ever played and fun to play for perfect block fans.
You really can only have one block equipped. Which one is the best?
Fire and Thunder for the base game work fine and holy for BBI since you will rely linking it with your great cannon even more. You can obviously do the great cannon and holy setup in the main game too but it's generally overkill in most instances.
MK still worth it if I can't perfect block? With singular enemies it's easier but on BBI where you have to dragons at once or other huge stuff I can never do it.
Might as well play magic archer then. It's like a baby version of mystic knight with training wheels.
If you want to practice perfect blocking play as a fighter for a few hours and get the timing down without having to fiddle around with casting spells over and over.
If you're having trouble perfect blocking level fighter until you can buy the augment that doubles the window for the perfect block.

Weirdly enough, I actually went there first. I guess it’s cos I have sidequest autism, but I always try to explore everywhere before I need to, and do everything before I have to progress.
Lucky too cos quina is lovely. Sure, not as hot as israelitebreasts or shegoat perhaps, but I like that she is from your village, and that you kinda ditch all the arisen crap and head home after the dragon.

There is very little hand holding in this game so morons tend to have problems with it. But if you like going in blind and experimenting with game mechanics and figuring out stuff on your own it's a great experience.v Even If your a go-to-gamefaq 1st type of person it's still fun to play.
You don't have to get into the depths of things too bad. I and many others beat the game when it first came out and we didn't know all the ins and out. I believe I made myself or my pawn a tank fighter and me a sorcerer. I probably used orders a lot. People worry about min/max for their stats, their pawn intricacies but its really not that important.

Last time I did this quest, I turned in all possible evidence (including condemnations from evicted family) + cheapest not guilty document and he still ended up free, so you don't have to be careful

It's literally a core skill. Cheese? Sure. Sorcerer is just that OP. Exploit? No. What makes it cheesy is that it turns the game into a 3rd person shmup. Point being that standing around casting big spells does get old fast, but is not really the optimal way to play Sorcerer.

Warrior has the best phys attack growth and mage the best magic attack growth.
100 levels of warriors is basically ideal for any pawn that never plans to use magic ever. Which can be annoying if everyone else's mages are just shit.

Dragon's Maw isn't as much damage as you think. It's amazing for safe crowd control but i'd argue well aimed and timed hindsight slashes can do more single hit damage.

If you're aiming for the heart and still nothing then you gotta sort out your weapon/augment situation.
Firedrakes have a ton of defense, i'm pretty sure you're gonna need a lvl2 bbi weapon or a gold forged ice sword,
I have a level 3 BBI sword already from doing BBI as different vocations, I just presume I need to get it dragonforged before it starts doing any damage. I'm stacking mounting augments since it seems like my best shot at stacking single target damage.

It still guarantees it. You just have to bash your head on the initial dragon spawn that spawns a non-cursed one first.
Rancid bait meat will guarantee a Cursed Dragon, whether pre, or post Daimon. Once you killed it, if you exit and enter back through a door, you will even get another. There have been reports of this being able to happen up to three or four times on one bait.

NG+ doesn't add difficulty. If you want to up the difficulty you start a new game on hard mode.
I keep Dragon's Dogma installed just to check out positive reviews my pawn gets once a week or so.
I want dragon's dogma 2 to have 2 dragons, one that likes red vocations and big explosion magic and leads the monster army on a campaign of conquest, and another that like yellow vocations and debilitation magic and commands the undead. You'd either crusade as the champion of humanity to destroy both, or you can choose servitude for either dragon. The first one would involve burning your way through every human outpost between you and the other dragon, and the second dragon would involve taking over the government and military through the inside, to the point where the final mission is exactly the same as the human version except your dragon faked its death and everybody you report to is either a zombie clone or utterly mindbroken while the general populace is blissfully unaware that they are all slaves now.

The system is weird, it picks whoever you last spoke to out of everyone you have at max affinity at the moment the Greatwall falls (because the dragon goes and kidnaps your beloved immediately after flying off). So if you’re trying to get someone specific and you have multiple NPCs at max affinity then you need to make sure you talk to the one you want before storming the Greatwall and none of the others until after storming the Greatwall.
This was after beating the seneschal though. I got the dragon to kidnap the duchess but after my pawn fused into me that dude greeted me at the beach. I thought you were locked into your love interest when they get kidnapped

I was a warrior so I got all of Salomet's dialogue because I naively thought that there was some trick to catching him, like attacking when he's chanting or when he's recoiling from another attack or something. Once I realized he doesn't dodge my pawns I just sat on my ass for 30 seconds while my strider shanked him
They spawn in multiple locations, there’s like 11 assassins total iirc and they appear in groups of 2 or 3 except this one guy in the mountain pass between Cassardis and Gran Soren who tries to take you alone and their boss who appears outside the gates to Cassardis after you kill all the others. Killing him completes the quest. It was not explained or implemented very well.
There are four camps of them, and they only spawn at night.
1) Outside the mine
2) North of Gran Soren, past the bridge
3) In the canyon, at the tree above the northern gate
4) The rocky crags east of the Encampment
5) The front gate of Cassardis, which is the final encounter
It's a very badly-designed quest, but it does give a unique quest item.
