I dont get the hate

Seriously, I dont get the hatred fallout fans have for their own series and each other. Every single one of the games is either good, great, or a classic. The show, while not perfect, is still amazing for a video game show production and feels good as a Fallout Program. So why do Fallout fans hate each other so much and only seem interested in how anything new with the series will harm another sector of the fanbase?

How about that the games are completely different from one another? People even debate F1 vs F2 despite those two being nearly the exact same game. So when Bethesda introduced F3 being an FPS that had little to do with the old games the fandom tore itself apart. This is only exacerbated by NV, F4, and this TV show. We need a Master like figure for the Fallout fandom.

          >We need a Master like figure for the Fallout fandom.
No, we need to just quit buying their fricking games. Stop giving money to shysters who use your nostalgia as a weapon against your common sense. You have other post-apocalyptic games to play that are far better and have better worldbuilding, so why give a frick about Fallout? Unless you're 'trying the game' to see what the TV show is about.

I haven't ever bought F4 or 76. I'm not watching the TV show. It doesn't matter because Bethesda owns the IP now. And while other games exist that are Fallout-like such as Wasteland or Underrail. They don't exactly match the same feeling that the original games did.

Fallout 3 being bad is a modern realization, everybody loved fallout 3 at launch. Even if you really cared about old fallout lore, aside from the enclave and brotherhood being on the east coast nothing really mattered or contradicted what came before

No F3 has always been controversal on the internet. I'm sure you could find 2008 era NMA posts criticising F3. Also the inverse was happening as well with F3 kids having never touched Fallout 1 and 2 shitting on the games. But Fallout 3 is shat on a lot more these days I can see that.

Obviously there are always going to people in pockets of the internet who dislike anything, but there's no denying that fallout 3 is responsible for the current cultural relevence of the franchise. Fallout 3 might not be very good but at least anyone whos interested in can go play it right now whereas old crpgs are way less accessible. It was essentially 6th gen console games that ushered in the era of old games that are actually playable beyond the era they were created

My first game was new vegas and I've tried about 5 times to play fallout 2 and it's essentially inpenetrable to anyone who didn't grow up playing it. Isn't nv proof that you don't need to be an isometric crpg to have depth and quality? Fallout 2 is a game that has been objectively obliterated by the passage of time while every single 3d fallout game can be played by anyone no problem

Not true. I was born 2001 and can play Fallout 1 and 2 just fine. I feel like people never look in the options to enable always running and turn the combat speed to max. They're really not that hard to get into as all you ever need to play is a mouse. And even if you hate the turn based combat you can play a speech character.

and I'm telling you the discourse was there from the start, which is true. You're flat out wrong and the game's mainstream popularity has no bearing on the criticism it got from RPG fans in the past or today.

The show is shit, it's not consistent with itself much less the world at large and Todd throwing fuel on the fire in hopes of getting an extra buck or two is burning his old fans to get streaming fans who don't play games.

Look at Fallout 76 and notice that the playerbase hasn't even reached FOTM games like Helldivers

The show is unpopular with people who actually play the video games and is popular with moron normalgays who don't give a frick about the games or the lore. They care about getting the next Game of Thrones to gossip about with their friends when they're drunk. Games? Who cares, that's for people of low social standing. Todd wants to rub shoulders with actors and celebrities, not neckbeards in their basement.

So of course the neckbeards who, yknow, play the agmes are going to be upset. Especially when the show is saying "Yeah those old-ass games? who gives a frick, they all got nuked n shiet lol"

The show was decent enough. The vault dweller character was fricking perfect. The naive, "howdy stranger, may I approach?" couldn't have been written better.

The ghoul character has a compelling story. He's directly tied to the central conflict, like the vault dweller, and is the perfect foil to test her morality against. He's not plain evil, but his environment has conditioned him to do evil in order to survive. Great writing for a great character.

The brotherhood of steel guy? Completely awful. He drags down the show. He's routinely committing brazingly EVIL acts and doesn't seem to care. I think the final straw for me was when he branded the apprentice under false pretenses. It was just so unnecessarily evil. He has further problems where he's at odds with his own backstory because he doesn't buy into the BoS mentality which means he as a character is significantly handicapped while outside of his armor.

Lore-wise, the show fits well enough into the setting. I think SS being nuked, while unfortunate, fits better than synthetic humans walking around.

This happens with Star Wars and Fallout. The vitriol is caused by the IP changing ownership and thus having noticeably different products from the shift. This is unavoidable and normal tension.
