Currently ~20 hours in an I’m enjoying it a lot. Combat feels kinda repetitive and the human move sets being copied and pasted are kinda glaring, but the story and characters are all really enjoyable.
Don't want to be a downer but I also felt this way during the first 20ish hours and ended up disappointed. It still has some kino moments you might not have seen yet, but if it gets too dull for you, might as well move on to something else
i wonder what was cut from this game.
you can tell there was more in this game in the alpha stage that they couldn't fit into the console because the obsession with high-end graphics bit them in the ass but considering the end result, for modern Square its an achievement.
i just wish there was more to fricking explore. way too many fricking sidequests bringing you to the same fricking locations. gameplay was good though, i'll give it that.
I feel like they could have used a dual protagonist set up kind of like FFT. Let us play as Joshua for a good chunk interspersed, but of course we couldn't have that since only one playable character other than that brief kid Joshua segment. Which I think is the main thing the game could have used. Multiple playable characters. Not only for gameplay purposes, but it could have opened up narrative possibilities.
What's even the appeal of modern FF? It's just a bunch of "cinematic" button mashers with moronic anime characters. At least something like DMC lets you chain cool combos if you're good enogh at the game.
>story is generic and predictable >characters are one note and obnoxiously try hard edgy >gameplay is health sponge bullshit with enemies having hyper armour out the ass
Literally the only good parts of 16 are the graphics and the music. Everything else ranges from dog shit to mediocre. For how hyped they talked about the gameplay and how innovative and focused it was, it was fricking terrible. 7R easily had better gameplay.
People don't complain enough about what the endgame of this thing is like, probably because they never played that far. In a game that's a graphical powerhouse with some great landscape design and lighting, they decided that the last third should just be covered up in purple fog for no reason other than plot urgency. And this is when you're intended to do a shitload of sidequests, too. Bizarre choice
Good main story until it isn't, above average combat when it clicks and slog at worst, MMO slop tier padding for everything else. Okay music but 80% of it gets reused non-stop throughout the game.
Because there is none. It's a slog with very surface level action combat
what praise?
FFXVI doesn't get it either
praise? Ff Has been shit since 13 newbiegit

It's aight. Better than 15, but that's a low bar.
>Better than 15
15 was disappointing but still enjoyable, 16 was a snoozefest from combat to story
13 was shit
14 was an mmo
15 was garbage
By default, XVI was the first FF in like 17 years to not be a puerile slurry of poisonous piss.
what praise
xv is the best ff
xvi is the worst ff
reddit fantasy 15
Get some taste
The praise wore off when people realized what a shallow, empty, repetitive game it is.
worst game ive ever played
reddit fantasy 16
fpbps
it's the best single player FF game post X which is saying VERY little but it's something I guess
FF15 sucks
XV won

Snoys need to hold on to any timed exclusive they can get. You'll see them suddenly call it shit when it's on PC.
Most are calling it shit now.

FF16 lets you chain cool combos, but the game is too easy to ever feel the need to.

The voice acting was phenomenal too, but otherwise everything you said is 100% correct.
Yeah, I'll agree with that actually. One of the best English voice acted Japanese games I've played in recent memory.
Good combat and probably the best story in the franchise, there is no praise for it on this board as most have not played it since it's a PS exclusive

Fairest take ITT
Decent enough story and nice graphics. The praises don't take in account that it took the worst possible lessons from XIV's success.
