Has there ever been a mainline FF that came and went like this one?

1) If they are going to writte politics, they should have sticked to it. Going for the GoT route was absurdly moronic from the begining, Lord of the Rings suits FF far much more. Clive should have been a figure akin to Aragorn, someone on a path to becoming King who is not trying to destroy tradition, but justify it; not some leftie atheist revolutionary.
2) Jill is cute, but boring. It would have been more interesting if they became a couple right in the begining of the game and were sepparated by circunstances. Also, you expect me to believe that she travelled with Clive for years (given the time skip), and nothing happened between them? Frick you
If the game is trying to be more adult, why not make them a family as soon as they are reunited, and see the dynamic of an FF protagonist being married and actually have to make decisions like an adult man would?
3) They should have either made it open world or make it linear with more flashed out handcrafted areas.
4) the combat is just like XV in that it's all spectacle and no substance.
All in all, Square failed to commit with any of its themes settings.
>politics >LotR
eh? >GoT
this meme has to stop
no just because a fantasy story has politics doesn't mean it's like GoT, this is almost like the "it's a Dark Souls like" shit at point
the game's political wirtting is much to closer to ff tactics or the ogre battle games than it is to ASoIaF >someone on a path to becoming King who is not trying to destroy tradition, but justify it; not some leftie atheist revolutionary.
have you even palyed the game idiot?
magic was literally destroying the world and feeding an eldritch god
why the frick would any sane person not want to destroy it? >Also, you expect me to believe that she travelled with Clive for years (given the time skip), and nothing happened between them?
pic related >the combat is just like XV
I never understood why of all the things to critise this game, this is massively moronic argument is used so often
Nta, but of course Yoshida would namedrop GoT in marketing. That doesn't change the fact that a significant portion of the dev team are Matsuno team veterans. You know, the Matsuno games that did "GoT" before A Song of Ice and Fire was even published?
They specifically mentioned GoT, you fricking desingenuous homosexual >magic was literally destroying the world and feeding an eldritch god
My point was that they should have written a different story >pic related
Lewis was an anglican, and as such he did not believe in friendship between man and woman the way you do. Such friendship would only happen as a proxy of a friendship between two men; in other words, a man is friends of his friend's wife. It was not ideal for a man and a woman to be close without the involvement of a third party, but even then if a guy is too close with some woman from his social cycle people might still imply there's something more going on when in reality there's nothing, hence the quote.
Regardless, it was pretty clear that Clive and Jill had romantic feelings for each other from the beggining so again you are being desingenuous.
Lastly, yes, this game is like XV. Style, no substance.
>They specifically mentioned GoT, you fricking desingenuous homosexual
For marketing reasons dipshit
Not because the writting and tone is actually like GoT >My point was that they should have written a different story
Your point is that you're a moron >Lewis was an anglican, and as such he did not believe in friendship between man and woman
He never stated his opinion on that matter, so neither you nor I can make a correct assement
Just because he was Anglican doesn't mean otherwise, people aren't robots that just because they all get the same program they'll all act the same. Tolkien was Catholic yet he didn't like Vatican 2, nevermind the fact that disagreeing with the Church is literally heresy
Finally just because they had romantic feelings does not mean its improvable they wouldn't have acted on them sooner >Lastly, yes, this game is like XV. Style, no substance
Good story, good characters, good combat, good visuals, good music, only good mainlime FF game since 12
The only thing with no substance here is your brain
>Just because he was Anglican doesn't mean otherwise, people aren't robots that just because they all get the same program they'll all act the same. Tolkien was Catholic yet he didn't like Vatican 2, nevermind the fact that disagreeing with the Church is literally heresy
Anon I think you hit your head on the ground too hard with this one.
>"Annabella is totally not Cersei!" >"Joshua is totally not Bran!" >"Clive is totally not Jon!" >"Torgal is totally not Ghost!" >"The gross degenerate cuckoldry plot with Bene/Hugo is totally not Cersei/Robert inspired!" >"Yoshida made the development team watch Game of Thrones but this game is totally not Game of Thrones inspired!" >"Dion's homosexual love story is totally not like Renly/Loras! Him going crazy and nuking the capital with his dragon powers is totally not Daenerys!"
Do XIVgays really? Just because the game suddenly turns into Devilman slop at the end doesn't make it any less of a shitty Game of Thrones clone.
>1) If they are going to writte politics, they should have sticked to it. Going for the GoT route was absurdly moronic from the begining, Lord of the Rings suits FF far much more. It's funny because the moronic fans of XVI and XIV unironically believe namedropping endless lore and dynastic conflicts is the same as a game exploring politics. >If the game is trying to be more adult, why not make them a family as soon as they are reunited, and see the dynamic of an FF protagonist being married and actually have to make decisions like an adult man would?
It's very jarring to see a grown ass 33yo yell about the power of friendship as he is about to kill le god. Again, made for the kind of "people" who think mature equals blood, sex and saying frick. Very GOT in that regard.
this post and every reply to it are xbucks, tendies and pcgays seething
and i'm a pcgay but i can't wait for this game to come out on PC, i won't shit on it just because i can't get to play it now.

>gameplay is fun >boss battle is excellent >story is good
eat shit hater. ff7 will sell less copies.
It’s fun
the combat is fricking amazing
the music is god tier
the graphics are great
the story is good and well fleshed out, and more complete than any other 3D FF game
but it suffers from bad side quests and horrible pacing
personal 9/10 for me cause I didn't mind the bad parts that much
>the game play is fun! The combat is amazing!!!
Are you fricking high? The "gameplay" is just a continuation of the shitty combat from FF15 and Forspoken, only combined with awful "devil may cry style" combat that keeps getting interrupted with qte's and EPIC CUTSCENES.
The fact that Fgays will shit on FF15 and Forspoken but praise FF16 which is only a continuation of what both these games were doing really proves how this fanbase is braindead. Combine this with most of FF16 fans being FF14 mmo Black folk that never played a genuine game in their life, too.
Mainly the characters being shit and unlikable, Jill was such a fricking boring main heroine that I couldn't care less if she had died
But there are also other gameplay reasons, like the fact that everyone plays the same and how staggers take fricking forever to trigger
Yeah. No wonder why no Japanese game got award in TGA 2023 while Mihoyo got 2. Japanese game have inferiority complex on Genshin so that they bribe critics for metascore. West never do such shit for more score. But they couldn't decieve the award. Japanese game got zero award in TGA 2023 for banning bikinis while BG3 has bikini for body type Bs.
>It didn't really get the praise for it either. >Has there ever been a mainline FF that came and went like this one?
You should really learn how to write differently. You always had a big space after the first sentences homie. You write like this >i hate this game
>anyone else hehehe?
then proceed to samegay to get someone to reply to comment. I could link you like 6 different Ganker post and they would all be yours.

I’ve said this in other threads but it absolutely blows my mind that a mainline final fantasy AND Zelda game came out in the same year and both kind of fizzled out like a wet fart. Imagine telling yourself that 20 years ago? FF and Zelda are both easily top 5 IPs for me but both 16 and ToTK just kind of came and went
This game never had universal praise. I’m already seeing the cope on Twitter and Reddit over Rebirth getting a 93 and how this is “good” for FF. No this is good for the Remake project. Because FF17 will just slop a new system and while completely discard what 16 created. So we’ll be back to square one but with even less shit to look forward to,
This is a giga cope. Absolutely no one cares about 16. Why do you think it got completely overlooked for awards last year? It one like 1 things and it was basically the game getting a bone thrown at it.
Finished it back in November and I've had some time to reflect on it.
First, the MMO tier side quests are just terrible. You can't even justify them by pointing to the rewards because the rewards are NOTHING.
The RPG mechanics aren't just unnecessary, they actively impede enjoyment. They're too simple to engage with meaningfully, so why the frick do they pretend to be important or complicated? Go to the vendor and buy the gear. You will ALWAYS have enough.
The story suffers from being hyper focused on a smaller main cast, and those characters are good, just not good enough to carry the story. Clive is just okay. Joshua is okay. Jill is okay. None of them have enough time to play off other characters and flesh them out.
The narrative is at odds with itself because it wants to be a character study on Clive AND a grand political narrative at the same time, and it struggles to do either particularly well. In any other FF game, each party member would have vested interests in each kingdom that adds context, stakes, or just any reason to give a shit.
With all that shit out of the way, the game has solid core combat mechanics, even if the RPG stuff fails to elevate it. The graphics and art are pretty damn good, even though the PS5 sometimes struggles. The presentation is phenomenal at times, and I think titan battles would be much more warmly received if not for the game that surrounds them.
It was worth playing, but it has a lot of missed potential due to the poor mix of action/RPG/MMO mechanics and some pacing issues.
I "give her a pass" primarily because the arc of her being essentially a slave who gets her revenge against her master is reaching towards something resembling good character development. It's undercooked as frick, yes, but the pieces are there.
I'm reminded of that cutscene where she runs into those servants and has a heartfelt reunion. It stands out to me because the story in general is severely lacking in these kinds of moments that establish the characters and relationships that exist outside the scope of the main narrative.
You're right about her being boring the entire rest of the game but I'm giving them a little credit for at least making an attempt here.
one problem i remember from the drake's breath arc is how the servants jill befriended and the iron kingdom are just gone from this point on
they were such a driving force in the beginning for all conflicts but they get reduced to nothing very early on
The game drops any pretense of being political before Cid even dies, are you stupid? The war reports are literally just there so the hideout can plan around them and go where the least people will be
the combat is fricking amazing
the music is god tier
the graphics are great
the story is good and well fleshed out, and more complete than any other 3D FF game
but it suffers from bad side quests and horrible pacing
personal 9/10 for me cause I didn't mind the bad parts that much
>the story is good and well fleshed out, and more complete than any other 3D FF game
You should actually play some of the other Final Fantasy games before spouting this absolute nonsense. 16 was a hastily thrown together "world" and a bland, forgettable villain
It's a great game. Turn-based grandpas trash every single Squeenix game, that doesn't have an antiquated combat system designed for simpletons and brainlets with terrible motor skills.
It was one of my disappointments last year tbh.
I had very high expectations as a 14 gay and the game fell so short for me.
Cranking the spectacle up to 11 for the Primal fights didn't feel very earned to me, and Clive/Jill simply weren't all that endearing of characters.
But I've never been a fan of Game of Thrones, and you could feel the GoT worship dripping from just about every scene of this game.
Which made me think a lot about Elden Ring; the game that literally had GRRM credited on it. But because of From's storytelling quirks, I could simply ignore just about all of his influences.
Yeah that's fine. I get that reaction.
But I have my original 14 box. I had fun with 2.0, and Heavensward was my favorite expansion.
So I'm not opposed to politics-heavy stories with some intrigue and stuff.
How the hell does this single fricking game keep having threads after threads after threads after threads nearly 9 months after release? You never see people post about ff15 or rr7 remake (aside from rebirth which is releasing in 5 days) or tears of the kingdom. Even elden ring was nearly dead on Ganker until the dlc came along.
>Praise
But it has none?
FF16 took away the adventure and fun aspects of Final Fantasy games and tried to be more like western games by trying to copy GoT and failed miserably, much to its embarrassment.
The overall tone of the game is drab and boring. It lacks the charm and atmospheric design of the older Final Fantasy games. Pretty shit honestly.
Infact most people are shitting on it, even on Re**it.
I've seen nearly every FF installment get high praises and flack, but the only one that's universally hated is FF16.
>the only one that's universally hated is FF16.
16 has the easiest passing of any FF since 12, most rate it as mediocre whilst games like 13 and 15 are still used as grading posts for the worst in the series.
Maybe in your discord, or your little bubble, but definitely not in real life, everyone I know hates FF13, 15 and 16 equally
16 is considered as bad as these 2 games, and I've never seen a single person who unironically likes any of these games, most people just pretend to like them for internet outrage points, just like what our friend dreamboum does.
There was more contrast there though, 16 feels relentless in its depression and hopelessness. Outside of Byron's occasional scene what levity moments are there?
Scenes with Jill, Gav, Cid, the home base, later lategame Joshua and Dion scenes, Torgal's sidequest. Plus, you don't need levity like it's some MCU flick.
>gatekeeping a franchise that has been around for 3 decades, been on every generation of console since NES, has made billions and is known worldwide.
why do zoomers even attempt this? and if they're not zoomers - what vacuum are they living in?
this homosexual actually thinks final fantasy is a niche still holy frick. next he'll start thinking people don't know what star wars or spiderman are. fricking kek.
It’s something I’ve noticed on several occasions. A zoomer will discover some artists or musician or television show or whatever and act like they’re the first one to find THING. I was reading some zoomer go off about frickin Linkin Park as if they were some obscure indie band nobody heard of
>gatekeeping
Lol, next time Square should get Bungie to make the next mainline FF game. They will make it play 100% like Destiny, but this time it will be called FFXVII so it will obviously be a FF game. That way they don't gatekeep the franchise to people that like FF games.
I think it's one of the best looking and smoothest playing action combat games on PS5, but, the shitty sidequests, stilted "Medieval" dialog, and endless procession of villains Clive dispatches after one or two battles, left a sour taste. Benedikta was the only compelling character, because genuinely conniving, and she should have been the big bad, or at least a Jenova-type boss you face multiple times until the end. Instead you murder her after the second fight because Clive needs to "absorb Eikons." I gave up before the second Benedikta fight on NG+.
Stop thinking with your dick for a second. Benedikta wouldn't have been able to carry the game as the main antagonist. She reeked of early/midgame filler boss from the beginning.
it's 13 again but this time with worse gameplay and writing
6/10
13 was bad because they were new to 3D HD environments and were struggling
15 was bad because of 13's struggles and 14 being a catastrophic failure causing company issues
16 has no excuse, it was just bad by design
Its just their annoying fans pretending their generic shit is superior to anything
If they ported it to the other platforms people would see how average the game is
Which is why I want them to push out the 16 PC port so bad, can't fricking wait for all the "that's it?" posts in response to PCbros finally being able to play it
Until ff17 gets announced and you start defending 16
Its the ff cycle
I see this said often and it always sound so stupid, played 15 Royal for the first time after 16 and all it did was make me question how the frick the franchise maintain relevance in the modern era
My current impression is because of fans with an unhealthy obsessions towards 14 and 7
>Final Fantasy is the one series that literally unites all of Ganker on how bad it is. like look at all this shit
The most supreme basedness in Ganker history. 16 has gone on to become our most hated video game series for a reason.
I actually liked the atmosphere and story of it, and it’s the first completely new mainline FF game that didn’t feel utterly rushed in a long while (although there are some parts that show *little* signs of rushing like Barnabas part of the story). But for frick’s sake, the side quests are abhorrent and I’d much rather have had 1/4th the amount of them if they had actually spent time polishing the best ones instead of just adding random fetch shit.
They’re like they come from completely different game than the main story, and the way how you unlock a gigahomie bunch of them just before you go to the final boss is utterly moronic for pacing. It’s not such a game-ruining slaughter as the last stretch of FFXV for sure, but why didn’t they spread them around the game earlier when the plot had more fitting moments for sidequesty stuff?
So yeah, better than XIII and XV, but that’s not exactly a high bar, and ultimately FF7 Remakes tighter pacing worked better and I would have hoped that they had taken more cues from it.
It really was the definition of a mediocre game. It wasn’t bad (as a whole but there were definitely some questionable/bad design choices) but it really wasn’t good either. It just exists
say wanna 1 more thing to the ff16 hater. Just keep posting these threads because it lives rent free inside of your head. Goodbye im leaving this thread. I cannot wait for rebirth sales.
Pretty much, people who liked it for what it was moved on long time ago, haters remained too obsessed (they would hate FF no matter what anyway, outrage schizos are addicted to this shit)
people discussing a game =/= obsessed. Plenty of the anons you replied to have reasonable posts and criticisms, you’re the one coming off like a schizo mass replying the thread several times. >let me go to a video game discussion board and sperg out on people discussing a video game!
seek help
>browsing catalogue >see FF16 thread >oh I played that, it was ok but I didn’t really love it. I’m gonna post that >WHY ARE YOU SO OBSESSED!?
it’s less fun posting alongside actually mentally ill morons rather than just those pretending to be
I think real-time action rpgs are a waste of time. They don't have the combo complexity nor interesting enemy design of a full-blown action game like Ninja Gaiden Black, nor do they have the rpg stat autism of something like Shin Megami Tensei. Nioh is the closest the genre has ever come to getting the formula right, but every other game feels lacking. They are a comprised genre, trying to appeal to the most amount of people, so that most people will tolerate the games but nobody will ever love them.
Yeah for MMOs, which is a low barrier. The game really shows their skillset lies in MMO development which doesn't translate well to a single player experience.
the plot is a much worse than any other game in the series which was already a mess. Clive and Jill are written like two autists and the romance between the two is never believable.
>romance between the two is never believable.
they did the same thing in FF15 with the “bros” too much TELLING me these people are friends and love each other and not enough SHOWING. Clive tells Jill she is his entire world but the way they interact is so fricking weird. It’s because japs can’t into body language. westerners hug and kiss and touch each other and playfully shove each other japs are just fricking autistic and weird
>Combat
Good frame data; terrible enemy and level-design. >Abilities
Fun in theory; don't interact enough with basic attacks, magic, or the environment. >Quests
Main quests are corridors; side-quests are fetch-quests. Fricking awful. >Sense of Adventure
The scope and scale are epic; the narrative is messy and feels incomplete. >Characters
It's a shame there won't be sequel; they'll never get a chance to shine.
It wasnt bad but it shows that yoshi-p is not a good producer, the game suffers the same problems as his MMO, having no control over party members and the absolute lack of overworld activities makes the game really boring qhen you are not enjoying the story.
Pretty much, nobody talks about the 2 directors , even 14tards just waifugay. I only knew who this guy was because some schizo can't stop talking about him
Given the choice between those I'd always choose medieval, but yeah I prefer the FF settings of IV, VI, IX and XIV. More renaissance than medieval, steampunk/gaslamp elements, and some highly technologically advanced but still magical ancient civilizations.
Both are cool if done right. Ultimatedly it's a very superficial aspect that gets propped up only because the people in charge of FFXVI don't think Final Fantasy is real and merely consists of a fantasy setting with random chocobo and moogle refrences thrown in.
The first half is very good. Trouble is it tries to emulate games of thrones "anyone can die at any time" idea without the follow up "there is a constant cycle of new characters to fill gaps" GRRM also pulls.
So you get to the middle of the game where you fight Bahamut and the protagonist looks at the boss charging a move and looks at the screen and says "HES GOING TO BURN THE WORLD" and that is an immediate save the world moment that peaks the narrative. After that? well most of the cast is now dead. You have Odin who feels like 90% of his story and screen time was cut but whats left expects you to know about him and he feels like he has less presence than a none MSQ dungeon boss from FFXIV and Omega who feels like a waste. They could have had him literally be the series staple Omega Weapon and a leftover from the Fallen who made the original dominants as the Weapons aka walking nuclear weapons and their hubris lead to their own downfall and history repeats but instead hes just an ancient evil that awakens and wants to destroy everything because mankind is inferior because... reasons. Shut up.
They have nothing beyond that. Odin and Omega are all thats left as everyone else is fricking dead. FOR THE ENTIRE SECOND HALF OF THE GAME. Combine this with being a character action game 3 or 4 times the length of a character action games usual runtime and as such having to resort to "akashic enemies" aka recycling enemies with a blue texture and more health and damage. It all comes together in a much worse second half to leave you remembering that.
Trouble is 90% of people are mainstream mouthbreathers that buy a game as the latest watercooler topic, play 20% tops and then sells it on craigslist or ebay. They didn't experience that and assume the initial quality is a constant.
>XB3 & FF16 >Both bombed hard and almost killed their respective series
Deservedly so, as both games alienated waifugays by forcing the inclusion of gays and troons in them.
FF16, XB3, and also Tales of Zestiria are what is referred to as unholy trinity of troonycore games because trannies and homosexuals are really the only ones who worship and defend those games while everyone else considers those games to be irredeemable garbage.
Pandering homosexuals and trannies who don't even buy games is just plain stupid.
It's a downgrade compared to XV in pretty much all aspects. Worse plot, worse characters, worse villains, worse setting/world. It has some marginal gameplay improvements, mainly QoL and less menu-time, but that's it.
Square recently killed some of their beloved RPG series for final fantasy which is among our most hated franchises. >also Yoshitpiss is creepy as frick, i get major epstein level child trafficking vibes from him.
Big shame
What praise? Baldur's Gate totally overshadowed it. Nu God of War-like movie action games are doomed to this fate. Nips are copying the wrong type of games and need to learn how to make rpgs again.
The game was censored and pozzed like that one anon said earlier.
I'm glad it failed and that discussion on Ganker is impossible. There's a website you can talk about this garbage though.
I secretly enjoy that I'm basically the only person on Earth who thinks this is one of the top tier FFs. I love being in Valisthea. I'm on my third playthrough and still loving it. Can't wait to explore Misidia this Spring.
It's a flawed game, but a good first try given the devs behind it, and still the best single-player FF since X. Just the fact of it having a finished story without a dozen tie-ins required and nice setpieces and spectacle made me gave it a lot of leeway towards its flaws like the filler sidequests and lack of exploration.
FF XII was bogged down though corporate meddling and director changes and the game's final quarter is extremely rushed. FF XIII trilogy was just shit at all levels, I barely even remember the plot. FF XV was an empty world of gas stations, jank combat wading through molasses, and the biggest blue balls of a main storyline ever.
FF XVI? I had fun throughout, with only the Mid fetch quest lull feeling too grating during my playthrough. I liked the characters, I liked the story, I liked the eikon fights, I liked the music, I liked the combat.
I started this game yesterday because my roommate has it on his PS5.
So far I think it's underwhelming, I'm kinda annoyed with some of the cinematic gameplay sections that limit your control.
The story has some nice hooks, but it's moving really slow.
The combat also hasn't impressed me at all so far.
Feels like I'm just spamming square to do attacks and like I'm not really putting any effort or thought in.
Am I just too early into the game?
It's going to get worse, a lot of padding, game remains samey and easy apart from a few hunts (even those are easy) and the story falls apart half way through.
FF VII Rebirth getting high reviews, and our board's resident prime schizo trying to falseflag Yoshidagays and Nomuragays against eachother as he seethes.
The FF community is the most fractured in vidya next to Sonic, and mostly it comes down to "which FF was your first?".
Personally I like both the Nomura/Nojima autism track and Yoshida's track that are currently on rails. I wish Horiyuki Ito hadn't been shunted in a cubicle, but I'm happy that Tabata is gone forever and Toriyama is on a leash for now.
Oh yeah Toriyama is a waifugay dev who somehow hoodwinked the SE suits to be able to make 3 GAMES for his waifu.
I hate him for it but I respect the hustle.

I can’t lie, if given the opportunity I’d probably do the same
>One of the shills Square brought on actually said he liked 15 more after he finished 16
Fricking kek, the final nail in the coffin that made it irrelevant forever.
This is my personal opinion in the matter but I have been popping in and out of FF15 threads since it came out expressing my displeasure of what could have been, what I didn’t like about it, etc etc just general criticisms and discussion. I hated FF16 so much I don’t even think about it enough to post
Battle system is fun but late game and NG+ remove all variance and devolve into skill spamming with Diamond Dust and stuff to setup Zantetsukens, you don't interact with enemies anymore
Story starts off strong then shits itself after the prologue and becomes boring and slow
Eikon battles are absolute kino
This year sometime, probably around when the second dlc releases but no confirmed dates for either. Although I think we’re getting news at pax for the dlc
FFXVI literally copied the movie game thing from GoW2018/Ragnarok but you never hear that game get any shit for it.
Now Rebirth is going slightly more open world with ubislop towers and the zoomies eat it up.
Its fun for about 10 hours and then you realize the combat system is puddle deep and the side content consists of the most boring fetch quests imaginable. Boss fights are cool though.
I'm almost convinced this was just a skeleton side crew asigned to feeding the franchise name while the real team was working on FF7R. Already that game looks leagues above a franchise installment.
After playing Rebirth's demo, i can safely say that 16 has the best combat of the series. Hope that they still use this combat in an eventual 8 remake, which i think that it would fit perfectly with the junction system with drawing being a way for you to buff the abilities and the party members being toggled with the d-pad buttons.
Nobody's praising it anymore, everyone who played it realized it has a few cool moments but the other 49 hours are exceedingly mediocre.
where did all the hype go?
>where did all the hype go?
shills stopped being paid.
Not entirely true, the yoshida dickriders shill this game for free
FPBP
FPBP
It's a solid 6~7/10, what praise?
fpbp. It was a 14 hour game stretched to 50 in the worst ways possible
PS5 owners had to cope about their investment in the system and the game, but that's worn off now.
why? everyone seemed to love it when leaks released

4) the combat is just like XV in that it's all spectacle and no substance.
All in all, Square failed to commit with any of its themes settings.
>politics
>LotR
eh?
>GoT
this meme has to stop
no just because a fantasy story has politics doesn't mean it's like GoT, this is almost like the "it's a Dark Souls like" shit at point
the game's political wirtting is much to closer to ff tactics or the ogre battle games than it is to ASoIaF
>someone on a path to becoming King who is not trying to destroy tradition, but justify it; not some leftie atheist revolutionary.
have you even palyed the game idiot?
magic was literally destroying the world and feeding an eldritch god
why the frick would any sane person not want to destroy it?
>Also, you expect me to believe that she travelled with Clive for years (given the time skip), and nothing happened between them?
pic related
>the combat is just like XV
I never understood why of all the things to critise this game, this is massively moronic argument is used so often
>just because a fantasy story has politics doesn't mean it's like GoT
The producer specifically namedropped GoT, moron bro.
Nta, but of course Yoshida would namedrop GoT in marketing. That doesn't change the fact that a significant portion of the dev team are Matsuno team veterans. You know, the Matsuno games that did "GoT" before A Song of Ice and Fire was even published?
They specifically mentioned GoT, you fricking desingenuous homosexual
>magic was literally destroying the world and feeding an eldritch god
My point was that they should have written a different story
>pic related
Not because the writting and tone is actually like GoT
>My point was that they should have written a different story
Your point is that you're a moron
>Lewis was an anglican, and as such he did not believe in friendship between man and woman
Finally just because they had romantic feelings does not mean its improvable they wouldn't have acted on them sooner
>Lastly, yes, this game is like XV.
>"Annabella is totally not Cersei!"
>"Joshua is totally not Bran!"
>"Clive is totally not Jon!"
>"Torgal is totally not Ghost!"
>"The gross degenerate cuckoldry plot with Bene/Hugo is totally not Cersei/Robert inspired!"
>"Yoshida made the development team watch Game of Thrones but this game is totally not Game of Thrones inspired!"
>"Dion's homosexual love story is totally not like Renly/Loras! Him going crazy and nuking the capital with his dragon powers is totally not Daenerys!"
Do XIVgays really? Just because the game suddenly turns into Devilman slop at the end doesn't make it any less of a shitty Game of Thrones clone.
>that image
jeez, forspoken really hit them hard
>1) If they are going to writte politics, they should have sticked to it. Going for the GoT route was absurdly moronic from the begining, Lord of the Rings suits FF far much more. Clive should have been a figure akin to Aragorn, someone on a path to becoming King who is not trying to destroy tradition, but justify it; not some leftie atheist revolutionary.
Very GOT in that regard.
barry, did you just set this whole thread up so you could reply to yourself?
this post and every reply to it are xbucks, tendies and pcgays seething
and i'm a pcgay but i can't wait for this game to come out on PC, i won't shit on it just because i can't get to play it now.
Barry here, Fpbp
Clearly had some issues and came out amidst numerous huge titles but it was okay.
It has a somewhat interezting premise, but it's all ruined because the plot revolves around the two most boring characters ever
Pozzed and censored.
>somewhat interesting premise
No, they had nothing more interesting to say then war bad, child soldiers bad. It was dumb and rehashed.
>Fun gameplay
>Amazing visuals
>Some pretty great characters
>Lot of spectacle
>Some good stories
I do get it. Whay I don't get is why they didn't get more supervision in the lore, sidequests, pacing, combat variety and some of the other stories to get a better game. Solid 7.5/10
>the game play is fun!
>The "gameplay" is just a continuation of the shitty combat from FF15 and Forspoken
How do I know you've never played an action game in your life?
>S-STOP HAVING FUN!!
Nah
>eats shit to have fun
Whatever floats your boat
Ok 🙂
This consoooomer gay really needs to go back to r*ddit. Chances are Yoshida browses the site too given how the shit he makes.
>ur having fun da wrong way
No U
It doesn't have any, the game was trash but console Black folk were thirsty for a game.
What praise? Rebirth is the first final fantasy game in 23 years to be praised.
We haven't had a good numbered FF since 9. 10, 12 and 16 are the only "okay" ones we've had.
>gameplay is fun
>boss battle is excellent
>story is good
eat shit hater. ff7 will sell less copies.
feminists killed Final fantasy
Yeah it’s feminism and not bad game design
Who is praising it? I only saw people jerking it off before the release, after release I didn't saw one soul talking about it
It’s fun
>The Shill Awards

reddit fantasy 16
It didn't really get the praise for it either.
Has there ever been a mainline FF that came and went like this one?
Attacked by schizos? Brother, since 7. FF famdon makes Star war's look tamed
Yes. 15 was different because Nomuragays are literal rabid animals.
>It didn't really get the praise for it either.
>Has there ever been a mainline FF that came and went like this one?
You should really learn how to write differently. You always had a big space after the first sentences homie. You write like this
>i hate this game
>anyone else hehehe?
then proceed to samegay to get someone to reply to comment. I could link you like 6 different Ganker post and they would all be yours.
anon frick you. I can't unsee it. hahahahahah
THEY ARE HE SAME DUDE
SAME DUDE
lmao
the absolute state of these gays holy shit
FF really did mindbreak them
dumb schizo
dilate
don't worry, a few more posts and you'll be called barry by these schizophrenics fanboys
Other gay got UTTERLY BTFO. These people are fricking degenerate and have ff16 live rent free inside of their head.
IX
Does Lightning Returns count?
12 wasn't that popular.
The best FF since 2006. Now, with Rebirth, FF is truly back
It's mediocre, which is the best the FF series has had in over 10 years.
This game never had universal praise. I’m already seeing the cope on Twitter and Reddit over Rebirth getting a 93 and how this is “good” for FF. No this is good for the Remake project. Because FF17 will just slop a new system and while completely discard what 16 created. So we’ll be back to square one but with even less shit to look forward to,
>This game never had universal praise
wrong, it was the most hyped game on Ganker in 2023, board was flooded with 16 hype and praise threads
This is a giga cope. Absolutely no one cares about 16. Why do you think it got completely overlooked for awards last year? It one like 1 things and it was basically the game getting a bone thrown at it.
>everyone cared before it came out
>no one cared after it came out
Grim, they need to fire yoshida
No one likes 16 except Dreamboum aka 16 shill (singular), but he is a homosexual so his opinion doesn't matter
>Clive is just okay. Joshua is okay.
holy shit taste batman, kys
Jill is extremely boring, she only exists to be Noah's love interest. You only give her a pass because she's fapbait
The war reports are literally just there so the hideout can plan around them and go where the least people will be
the combat is fricking amazing
the music is god tier
the graphics are great
the story is good and well fleshed out, and more complete than any other 3D FF game
but it suffers from bad side quests and horrible pacing
personal 9/10 for me cause I didn't mind the bad parts that much
>the story is good and well fleshed out, and more complete than any other 3D FF game
the bar was sub low, FFcucks really have no standards
>the story is good and well fleshed out, and more complete than any other 3D FF game
You should actually play some of the other Final Fantasy games before spouting this absolute nonsense. 16 was a hastily thrown together "world" and a bland, forgettable villain
Just like every classic game in the series considering they were thrown together within the span of less than 2 years for almost a decade straight
It's a great game. Turn-based grandpas trash every single Squeenix game, that doesn't have an antiquated combat system designed for simpletons and brainlets with terrible motor skills.
What praise? Lmao.
>I had very high expectations as a 14 gay
lmao
Yeah that's fine. I get that reaction.
But I have my original 14 box. I had fun with 2.0, and Heavensward was my favorite expansion.
So I'm not opposed to politics-heavy stories with some intrigue and stuff.
you have no standards
How the hell does this single fricking game keep having threads after threads after threads after threads nearly 9 months after release? You never see people post about ff15 or rr7 remake (aside from rebirth which is releasing in 5 days) or tears of the kingdom. Even elden ring was nearly dead on Ganker until the dlc came along.
Final Fntasy is 10/10 adventurekino, Except 16 which is shit
Because your discord has made it their live mission to ensure it gets daily threads
Yoshi P is a hack and a fraud.
Ugly Art = Ugly Game = Do not Play
Hi troony lover
Being better than FF7R is praise enough.
16 is considered as bad as these 2 games, and I've never seen a single person who unironically likes any of these games, most people just pretend to like them for internet outrage points, just like what our friend dreamboum does.
>has to bring in e-celeb shit
Okay, so you're schizophrenic. Seems like you're the only one in a bubble.
Redditors are such homosexuals holy shit
XVI had plenty of fun and adventure. Did you hate IV and VI's world of ruin as well?
>XVI had plenty of fun and adventure
when?
Combat. Boss fights. Chocobo drifting and kicking.
There was more contrast there though, 16 feels relentless in its depression and hopelessness. Outside of Byron's occasional scene what levity moments are there?
Scenes with Jill, Gav, Cid, the home base, later lategame Joshua and Dion scenes, Torgal's sidequest. Plus, you don't need levity like it's some MCU flick.
>he's pretending to have played FF games before XIV again
cringe
>pretending
>meanwhile (You) keep using a phone pic of a paused cutscene
Beat every mainline game except for XIII and the MMOs.
>didn't beat the best game in the series
Shame
I have it on Xbox, but it's taken a back seat to other things.
>gatekeeping a franchise that has been around for 3 decades, been on every generation of console since NES, has made billions and is known worldwide.
why do zoomers even attempt this? and if they're not zoomers - what vacuum are they living in?
Go back to your containment MMO, gay. Your cult leader needs the company.
this homosexual actually thinks final fantasy is a niche still holy frick. next he'll start thinking people don't know what star wars or spiderman are. fricking kek.
Final Fantasy needs to be about killing Satan again.
Ultima is basically a quasi-Satan/God. Corrupts and leads people down dark paths and manipulates world events. Also something of a progenitor.
>Ifrit was initially gonna turn into Diabolos but the idea was rejected because it'd be too similar to Devilman
Miss me with that shit.
Cucktima is a shoe-horned big bad anime god seen in your usual anime series
Downt wowwy, you awe wevy wevy coowl awn awesum wiv youwe patwisian twastes awnown
I know.
NO don't mention GoT, that one schizo will have another meltdown about how Game of Thrones didn't invent medieval settings.
I'm still looking for the GoT part of the game after the first few hours.
I always said it was shit
I think it's one of the best looking and smoothest playing action combat games on PS5, but, the shitty sidequests, stilted "Medieval" dialog, and endless procession of villains Clive dispatches after one or two battles, left a sour taste. Benedikta was the only compelling character, because genuinely conniving, and she should have been the big bad, or at least a Jenova-type boss you face multiple times until the end. Instead you murder her after the second fight because Clive needs to "absorb Eikons." I gave up before the second Benedikta fight on NG+.
>I think it's one of the best looking and smoothest playing action combat games on PS5
do FFsöys really?
>I think it's one of the best looking and smoothest playing action combat games on PS5
Not a fair competition, because the PS5 has no games.
Stop thinking with your dick for a second. Benedikta wouldn't have been able to carry the game as the main antagonist. She reeked of early/midgame filler boss from the beginning.
the only praise for it was for the naked beach scene kind of like rebirth is doing with tifa right now.
Most praise I see is that it's better than 15.
That's about the only true praise. That and Clive has a good VA.
It's like a 7/10 game overall.
the music is kino
On paper it sounds cool as heck but ultimately it was just boring and lame
it's 13 again but this time with worse gameplay and writing
6/10
13 was bad because they were new to 3D HD environments and were struggling
15 was bad because of 13's struggles and 14 being a catastrophic failure causing company issues
16 has no excuse, it was just bad by design
What does that even mean. 13's environments are gorgeous despite being hallways.
Yeah thats the problem. Gets fixed in 13-2 but then that's an extremely lower budget game.
Its just their annoying fans pretending their generic shit is superior to anything
If they ported it to the other platforms people would see how average the game is
Sounds like nintendies praising really average games
Which is why I want them to push out the 16 PC port so bad, can't fricking wait for all the "that's it?" posts in response to PCbros finally being able to play it
I see this said often and it always sound so stupid, played 15 Royal for the first time after 16 and all it did was make me question how the frick the franchise maintain relevance in the modern era
My current impression is because of fans with an unhealthy obsessions towards 14 and 7
I feel like there's enough discourse that people hate the side quests that a significant amount of players will just beeline through the main game.
Kek you mean the same mentally ill tendies who never got over ff7? You should see how much they hate capcom too since mh
>Final Fantasy is the one series that literally unites all of Ganker on how bad it is. like look at all this shit
The most supreme basedness in Ganker history. 16 has gone on to become our most hated video game series for a reason.
Until ff17 gets announced and you start defending 16
Its the ff cycle
the only one defending 15 is barry
No, that's Mass Effect 3.
fricking these lol
FFXVI woke and pozzed game with horrible ending and is most hated game in series.
So yeah, better than XIII and XV, but that’s not exactly a high bar, and ultimately FF7 Remakes tighter pacing worked better and I would have hoped that they had taken more cues from it.
kys redditor
Pozzed garbage.
If you're a fan of the classics, you'll hate it. If you're a fan of western "action RPGs" with slow-grinding to get to any level, you'll love it.
anons who quote an entire thread like this should be massed banned. frick off moron
>hardcores have finished up the Discord going sesh and and are now here to play Positivity Police
Greeeeeeat…
It really was the definition of a mediocre game. It wasn’t bad (as a whole but there were definitely some questionable/bad design choices) but it really wasn’t good either. It just exists
say wanna 1 more thing to the ff16 hater. Just keep posting these threads because it lives rent free inside of your head. Goodbye im leaving this thread. I cannot wait for rebirth sales.
You are mentally ill bro, stop being this obsessed with a game
Pretty much, people who liked it for what it was moved on long time ago, haters remained too obsessed (they would hate FF no matter what anyway, outrage schizos are addicted to this shit)
>game was hated this much even the most FF fans don't care about it anymore
grim
people discussing a game =/= obsessed. Plenty of the anons you replied to have reasonable posts and criticisms, you’re the one coming off like a schizo mass replying the thread several times.
>let me go to a video game discussion board and sperg out on people discussing a video game!
seek help
But you are obsessed, we get it.
>browsing catalogue
>see FF16 thread
>oh I played that, it was ok but I didn’t really love it. I’m gonna post that
>WHY ARE YOU SO OBSESSED!?
it’s less fun posting alongside actually mentally ill morons rather than just those pretending to be
We're FF fans, no one is as mentally ill as we are. Except furgays.
But you aren't discussing it nor criticizing it. You're just shitposting now. You are enslaved to XVI.
see
>But you aren't discussing it nor criticizing it.

Bloated unnecessary systems.
I don't know what their obsession is with systems within systems for the sake of it.
Repeat after me
MMO DEVS
MMO QUALITY
DO NOT BUY
but the MMOs are good tho
Yeah for MMOs, which is a low barrier. The game really shows their skillset lies in MMO development which doesn't translate well to a single player experience.
universal
acclaim
keep coping
mmo players are semen slurpers
It doesn't help that JRPGs are inherently worse video games since the gameplay always takes a back seat to the narrative.
Interactive Kinography. Ludonarrative Harmonics.
the plot is a much worse than any other game in the series which was already a mess.
It’s because japs can’t into body language. westerners hug and kiss and touch each other and playfully shove each other japs are just fricking autistic and weird
even the Tidus and Yuna romance felt contrived
i had fun. i wonder if the final dlc will retroactively ruin it
>Page 10, zero replies.
You did it, homosexuals. You broke him.
>Literally a thread about this guy EVERY DAY
Kek
lmao This yoshiman went from being the most dick-rided jap producer to hated and forgotten in less than a few months KEK this is so funny.
>Forgotten
Panel at PAX East on March 22 about the final DLC.
XVI by far has the worst setting of them all FF
titan was cool in 15 and 14, got tired by 15 tho, titan in XVI is just very meh
It wasnt bad but it shows that yoshi-p is not a good producer, the game suffers the same problems as his MMO, having no control over party members and the absolute lack of overworld activities makes the game really boring qhen you are not enjoying the story.
You will never get it
test
yoship looks like a homosexual and these threads are made by some ex boyfriend isnt it
source?
Pretty much, nobody talks about the 2 directors , even 14tards just waifugay. I only knew who this guy was because some schizo can't stop talking about him
Is takashi mochizuki isn't it? Both look like homosexuals and takashi articles sound wayyy too personnel
So how do we feel about medieval fantasy vs “modern” fantasy? For me I prefer something like FF9s “fairy tale” fantasy
J*mbo seethe.
>now remakegays are here
It's a fricking bot thread anyway, you dumb Black person.
https://arch.b4k.co/v/search/text/i%20don%27t%20get%20the%20praise/type/op/filter/text/
>The first half is very good
Lol, lmao even
This isn't twitter dude nobody cares if people dont share their opinion on a piece of media.
Ran out of originality eh? Typical pathetic tendiecuck.
Final Fantasy needs to come back home.
Totk was even more forgotten than 16
sure thing anon
TOTK was shit though
Do zeldagays hate xenoblade and ff16 that much? I mean totk story was really bad and despite everything xenoblade 3 and ff 16 had a better love story
Nice try
>XB3 & FF16
>Both bombed hard and almost killed their respective series
Deservedly so, as both games alienated waifugays by forcing the inclusion of gays and troons in them.
FF16, XB3, and also Tales of Zestiria are what is referred to as unholy trinity of troonycore games because trannies and homosexuals are really the only ones who worship and defend those games while everyone else considers those games to be irredeemable garbage.
Pandering homosexuals and trannies who don't even buy games is just plain stupid.
And? They still have a better love story than totk
Totk also has some guy troony too
This. Gays and trannies are fricking disgusting aren't they?
Kinda. Modern zelda gays do.
nobody in history praises ff16
Why was there no side content? No in-universe board or card game
because it would break immersion, but being a uber driver was ok for some reason
It's a downgrade compared to XV in pretty much all aspects. Worse plot, worse characters, worse villains, worse setting/world. It has some marginal gameplay improvements, mainly QoL and less menu-time, but that's it.
Oh, I forgot, the OST is leagues below XV's as well. Barely anything memorable except for the main theme, but only because of how overused it is.
I think there's a lot of interesting tracks, definitely better than XV. But I guess im just a Yoko hater, she's really overrated imo
Hey Mochizuki your boyfriend will talk next month!
I can see the final DLC unlocking a true ending after getting Leviathan, but then that would also be iffy because it would lock it behind a paywall.
Story and battle system are a lot better than XV, even if it's just a glorified extra-long Devil May Cry game with some FF elements thrown in.
Square recently killed some of their beloved RPG series for final fantasy which is among our most hated franchises.
>also Yoshitpiss is creepy as frick, i get major epstein level child trafficking vibes from him.
Big shame
They failed to make me care about any of the characters
20 hours long intro/tutorial is complete shit story and gameplay wise
>I enjoy having the most shittiest taste on earth.
Weird but you do you
Thanks homie. I've enjoyed basically every FF for one reason or another but 16 is really quality. Can't believe we get rebirth next week.
Ok consoomer, keep slopping garbage
Not him but why are you so mad?
It's a flawed game, but a good first try given the devs behind it, and still the best single-player FF since X. Just the fact of it having a finished story without a dozen tie-ins required and nice setpieces and spectacle made me gave it a lot of leeway towards its flaws like the filler sidequests and lack of exploration.
>still the best single-player FF since X
That's some premium cope
What’s with the resurgence of ff16 seethe threads?
FF VII Rebirth getting high reviews, and our board's resident prime schizo trying to falseflag Yoshidagays and Nomuragays against eachother as he seethes.
>Yoshidagays and Nomuragays
I honestly thought that was just shitposting, do some people actually only play FF games by certain directors?
The FF community is the most fractured in vidya next to Sonic, and mostly it comes down to "which FF was your first?".
Personally I like both the Nomura/Nojima autism track and Yoshida's track that are currently on rails. I wish Horiyuki Ito hadn't been shunted in a cubicle, but I'm happy that Tabata is gone forever and Toriyama is on a leash for now.
I remember hearing that the 13 director fell in love with lightning or something like that, was that Toriyama or did I just fall for shitposting?
Oh yeah Toriyama is a waifugay dev who somehow hoodwinked the SE suits to be able to make 3 GAMES for his waifu.
I hate him for it but I respect the hustle.
they only made 13-2 and 13-3to recoup losses after 14 bombed HARD. The assets were already created so why the frick not
I can’t lie, if given the opportunity I’d probably do the same
Yoshida dumped some guy and he cant stop shitting on him
Best FF since 6. Stay mad.
Do FFcucks really?
>One of the shills Square brought on actually said he liked 15 more after he finished 16
Really funny, even if I don't care for 15 either.
>Battle system is fun
For one hour before it becomes a mashing button and spam abilities with cooldown for the whole game
This is one of my biggest problems, there's a decently high skill ceiling in the game but the floor is high enough that nothing matters anyway.
so when is it coming to PC?
This year sometime, probably around when the second dlc releases but no confirmed dates for either. Although I think we’re getting news at pax for the dlc
There is none, they went too hard on trying to get the amerishart audience.
>MMO-troons desperately trying to salvage this slop to sell it to unsuspecting pc-gays
Grim.
FFXVI literally copied the movie game thing from GoW2018/Ragnarok but you never hear that game get any shit for it.
Now Rebirth is going slightly more open world with ubislop towers and the zoomies eat it up.
What, the walky talky sections? Remake had quite a few of those.
That's really just the way CBU3 makes games. Minimal effort, maximize returns.
>Director made the last remnant
This was all the red flags I needed. Thank god I avoided this kusoge.
>all this was posted by 1 guy.
there is only 98 unique IP in these thread.
makes me the 99th.
sad
Ok schizo
how is that schizo when its facts? moron
>my headcanon is fact
Ok moron bro
When will it release on PC? I'm guessing May, just between DD2 and ER dlc.
Come to think of it, criticisms towards no other game warrants this level of shitposting in the board. Yoshida monkeys are hillarious.
What a shit thread
I remember this dialogue in the game!
What a shit game
What a shit
Why are you trying to do that one anti-Xenobladegay's schtick?
