I don't know why it took me so long but I'm just realizing MMOs are not an indicator of skill, they are just a popularity contest, almost everything mechanical in the game comes down to kissing ass to get what you want
>duels
gear and/or class rock paper scissors
>parses
95% clique 4% gear 1% memorizing a 5 button rotation

why do people play mmos

because they are comfy, low skill games are
>massively multiplayer
>wtf socialization?
You're the reason WoW died
I socialize and RP and help random strangers and guildies but not to the point of hanging out on the guild discord on voice chat for 5 hours a day
frick you
didn't read
boob
World PvP and organized guild invasions into capitals was cool.
Very few MMO-s have them.
back in my day duels were actively recognised as having those class differentials, and losing against a counter was no biggie. it was the statistically likely outcome.
only mirrors were viewed as having a serious competitive element, since you were on truly equal footing
same went for arenas, mirror comps were the only serious shit
but this was back when pvp was dominated by the pre-esports crowd; the pvp "scene" was more like a big friendly martials arts club than a competition
sure there were those same loud super competitive autists that later took over (and killed) the scene but they weren't a majority
if we're talking wow duels mage vs rogue is the only skill-based matchup that's not a class mirror
everything else is rock paper scissors
tfw no tauren wife
>why do people playing a game based around you living inside the skin of your fantasy character act social??!!!?!
anon just found out what RP means in the rpg
>raidgayging, minmaxing
worthless whack a mole tryhardism and peak autistic behavior, you're supposed to bundle up with gays and slap the big monster for fun. The moronic difficulty is a player and autist retainment well oiled machine. MMOs are obviously social games first, cashgrab traps second and autistic containment zones third.
then why are you asking
You may not realize this hermit-kun but the ability to organize and coordinate with other people is in fact a skill
>why do people play mmos
to socialize with like-minded people over a very accessible shared activity. or to pay a sub to play a 120 hr single-player RPG apparently, the waters got seriously muddied in the last decade or so
BDO has none of that.
It's barely an MMO. You can't even trade gear. you just have to get lucky or autism your way and buy the gear with grinded gold.
Frick you post more breasts

You're mentally ill.
baited for this exact response thank you for the bump
Alright idiot Coomer, let me explain it to you in a way you can understand.
oldschool MMO's (EQ, Ultima Online) Were Social media before Myspace, facebook etc. They were a place you would go to meet people, to talk, and they had a fun game tacked on. You would talk in between pulls as you had time to wait, Nowadays people just do that through discord.
But nobody remembers any of this except for the grizzled Old guard of the OG days well into their 30s-40s+ or weirdos like me who stumbled across long forgotten stuff like this and learned from people who were there.
And nobody cares because BOOBA
Goodness forbid someone learn something.
Source?
>parses

The top parsers are actually botting
could you elaborate
using a program that will automatically change your keybind to the correct next ability in your damage timeline so you just press 11111111111111111111111 while another program tells you what mechanic will be coming up next and where you have to stand/what you have to do to resolve it properly
the actual top top parses in games like wow/xiv are people doing this
i'll be totally honest with you
i'm op and something like that would probably frick your parse unless it's extremely advanced, for example, a program can't predict something like a boss phasing and you want to blow your combo points on a 5 snd with 3 seconds left early so you can start dumping
i'd never use something like that because i feel like that wouldn't help when you're trying for 99s and 100s, they have weakauras like that too
FFXIV is way more predictable so you have people actually bragging that they're using a program to get top scores

oh that's a shame, i don't play ffxiv so i don't know how raiding works there
i just meant basically there's too many variables in wow raiding (not saying the game is hard) unless the programs are super advanced but i doubt they can predict a lot of things since most are player related
you know what's a REAL bragging right in that game? Fricking Y'shtola
The frick is that thing
I don't know I have it saved because I wanted the source I think
imagine if she were your mother
That‘d be nice
me in the pic
that looks like nicki
prompt??
MMOs are adicting because the solution to every single problem is time, not skill.
Sometimes it's nice to play a game that merely rewards time rather than skill.
>generic clique rogue that consumes goes to gnomer week 1
>gets 6 pieces of gear and can now parse 100s easily with 0 competition
yeah it was time investment for sure that got him there 🙂
