I don't think I've ever played such a poorly balanced game such as this.

balance does not matter in a pve game
It does when your favorite playstyle is underpowered or outright trash. Not that I know anything about what Darktide is like because the beta sucked and I didn't play since.
It does when 90% of all weapons are useless on higher difficulties
You can clear the highest difficulties with gray weapons if you aren't a brainlet shitter moron.
The only spot where gear matters is Auric because of the sheer amount of shit thrown at you in some of them. You can literally click brunts armory twice for a random melee and ranged weapon and clear Damnation, again, if you aren't a moron.
I've played stagger bonk zealot, knife plasma vet, cleaver only ogryn, and numerous moron psyker builds and cleared/carried runs. Git gud.
All of you fricking MOBA Black folk (where balance) and MMO Black folk (where endgame) came into this expecting something else. Hell, I think the people that are b***hing about "muh
narrative exshperience in a game where I kill 3000 things in 20 minutes" instead of complaining about the few things that matter (more maps, weapons, classes, enemies) are almost equally moronic, but you're still more moronic.
>instead of complaining about the few things that matter (more maps, weapons, classes, enemies) are almost equally moronic
You bought darktide dumb Black person what the frick did you expect? You could see that in the closed and open beta that it was going to be the most bareboned product they've released yet. You can polish that turd all you want. He's not wrong either most weapons are fricking useless and nobody uses them.
most weapons are usable, you're just bad
The only "issue" I've had with the game is that there's not enough variety and I just get bored after a week.
Balance matters in literally every game with win or lose conditions. Take SMB and give mario star power all the time, game is suddenly irredeemable shit. Take any puzzle game and let you auto-solve it by pressing up, game is suddenly irredeemable shit. TLOU, a movie, would even be shit if you for example made 1 bullet spawn in the entire game. Balance is a much broader field than the 'that gun is OP in the ranked meta comp fr fr' homosexualry.
Isn’t this game fixed now or something
There was never anything wrong with it to begin with. It was always GOTY despite people being crybabies. Darktide is the #1 leader in coop shooters and nothing comes even close.
Far from it, actually
>muh balance
I hate this kind of autism like you wouldn't believe. Balance =/= fun
Is the game still fun if the enemies have way too much health and your guns do no damage? There's more to 'balance' than keeping the player from being too strong.
The enemies do not have way too much health and my guns do more than enough damage. Almost everything got an insane power creep upwards, to the point that untouched weapons like the XII are just bog standard now instead of being must pick by metaBlack folk. Voidstrike staff went from being a meme build to being able to literally one shot a crusher in a single right click with the correct build.
>triggered by the word balance
The kitchen's too hot for you sweaty.
>Play shock psyker
>Use empowered blitz
>Kill one elite and now you stunlock everything infinitely from range and around walls
>Can literally just force lightning everything because you don't build peril and nothing gets close enough to knock you out of it
>Your team can literally watch you solo everything that comes your way
>Even snipers if enemies are spread out enough
>Play shard psyker
>Not as busted, but close enough
>Spam shards down a hallway, kill entire hordes on your own
>kill crowds of elites without much trouble
>ammo back to full in like 10 seconds, plus free shots from empowered blitz
>Dont even need to fricking aim, don't even need to use your staff most of the time
>Psyker has access to a fricking team-wide defensive forcefield on top of all this
I have no idea what the frick they were thinking with these powers, these are completely busted. I held down right click for two minutes and solo'd the end-mission interrogation defense objective. Shield Tankgryn is the shit though, tons of fun
so psyker is overpowered? ill probably make one then. i just want to kill everything with ease.
I thought BioSmite was shit because it took like 10 seconds to kill a clanrat whereas I'm blasting the map apart with Voidstrikes
I really aught to give Assail a go though, it's probably better against shooters no? Shame I'll only be short an option against Ogryns without BB
BASED. Psykerchads eating good after eating nothing but shit the first year. Too bad this probably won't last and they'll panic nerf the class back into uselessness.
>Enemies that spawn in behind your back
>Devs managed to make burst fire guns, a staple of PvE games, terrible
>Enemies have a mile long reach on their melee attacks
>Classes lack focused skills to the extreme
It's FatShark so I'm mot sure what I was expecting though.
Is the new update utter shit?
it’s actually good and has brought me back after 9 months of not playing
This doesn't mean much. I too would reinstall the game to see if anything has changed. Except I don't want to waste my time
he does start his sentence with ''its actually good'', or do you have a reading disability?
It feels like this is what launch should have been like, at least so far. The game clearly came out a year too early, and I think they knew that. It's still got a ways to go though, but its better than before. Now they just need to tone down some of the crazier shit and build on top of it.
do they still have the gacha weapon shop in?
frick them for adding that, wont play the game out of principle anymore just because of this predatory crap
Yeah it is. They added more crafting into it though, more control over perks and shit in the forge. If you're dead set on getting a specific weapon and it isn't in the shop, you buy a low-rank gray of any weapon with gold and then upgrade it once you get one with a good stat roll. Plus you can scrap perks and upgrades from other weapons in order to unlock them and put them on the weapons you care about.
I'm pretty sure the grindy, rng shop we got before was just there to waste people's times until they got a full system done. This shit was rushed out the door for sure.
I still desire an Eldar game.
>I still desire an Eldar game.
Jokes aside, i believe the aspect warrior paths would be a kino core for a game.
Like start as a young guardian and then choose your path, either become an exarch or move to another math and continue until you either get stuck in another path, due to in game choices, or become an autarch. Unlocking phoenix lord armor for your character would also be kino.
Though this game needs to have a heavy influence of permanent choice mechanics that will dictate what path you will choose. The gameplay could be a diablo like or some hack&slash/shooter. I believe those would make great use of the paths without messing too much with the game itself when moving from a howling banshee to a dark reaper.
>Think that a game couldn't possibly have worse progression than Darktide
>Payday 3 comes out
Is the age of coop horde shooters over? They're all so fricking bad
I just want another localized EDF god fricking DAMN IT. WHY WONT THEY LOCALIZE THEM???
EDF6 got an English localization announced. No PC though, and the little voice acting they showed off sounded shit.
What's so bad about Payday 3's progression system?
How shit is this latest update/skill rework, lads?
Its still the same darktide foundations so its still shit.
How bad are the microtransactions in this? I like the look of it but after Destiny 2 I don't know if I can bear playing another live service game
Supposedly they are getting a price hickey and and at least in the past they used an ingame premium currency just like with mobile games. Which also was only offered in specific bundles so you always have some left over.
Is new gameplay content free at least or do you have to pay for expansions, battle passes etc?
Thus far there have only been patches but Vermintide 2 had some dlc for missions and careers. Some free stuff but also paid.
As long as it's not 100 bucks every year that sounds alright to me
All cosmetic so far, but I think they've said if there's a new class it'll probably be DLC
The free cosmetics are all pretty hobo-tier though
Ex destiny player here.
If you think destiny 2 is the king of microtransactions then you're wrong.
I won't go into details but call of duty, ubisoft and plenty of other shit is far worse.
Like, this is hilarious, none of you guys play any other games for frick's sake, but someone said that destiny is worse than everything else so destiny is the worst.
But Dark Tide has cosmetics and guaranteed to have paid content like vermintide. So if you thought you escaped destiny and free then lol. In destiny at least you can do some bounties and buy premium cosmetics for dust, in 99% of games these days premium stuff is only for real money.
Holy copium.
Why would I cope about game I'm not even playing?
I just hate that "well I've played destiny so it can't be any worse" attitude.
I play CoD and D2 is far, far worse.
How? Modern cod is literally p2w.
If you're a DMZ cuck maybe
How is getting OP weapons with all modules on day one not p2w?
We literally have situation when those homosexuals release broken guns, sell a set with it, and when all normal people get it they fix it. At least bugs in destiny are fun for everyone.
Also all that p2w DMZ bullshit will be in new MW3 multiplayer.
it's only for cosmetics, and the achievement stuff looks better for the most part IMO even if they're difficult to obtain. Plus it shows experience.
The prices for the cosmetics are Overwatch tier greedy
But in the game's defense, 80% of the clothing in the game is bought with game currency or earned through achievements and looks better than the cash shop shit anyway
I haven't played since launch, but going on that and Vermintide it's far better than games like Destiny. DLCs are completely inessential, you get the most prestigious (and therefore most based) gear by earning it. You can pay $20 to look like an epic homosexual if you want (because you're gay). Eventually they'll probably add levels and classes to the DLC pool, but at least in VT's case you could party or matchmake into those levels even if you don't have them. And the base game classes/levels in VT were more than enough to satisfy the base cost.
>t. 500+ hrs in VT1-2 and never even considered buying DLC
Trollhammer torpedo is worth the 9 usd
did this game get fixed with patches yet or is it still shit
still no endgame. no goals to chase
>Played and got my refund during the pre-release period
It was obvious the game wouldn't be worth playing for 2 years *at least*
Anyone who held on to their purchase deserves to beta test for that long or more.
I've been having fun :))
How does this game compared to Vermintide 2? Actually worth playing over it now?
It's much more fun, but mission variety is far worse.
Personally I consider darktide's ranged combat to be worse than VT2. Although I haven't played the former in quite some time.
Darktide now is about what VT2 was about a year in: finally fun and playable.
It's worth playing both because darktide's combat is actually fairly different than vermintide's with how much more shooting you do. The tempo of combat is very different
It's the melee vs ranged and the suppression system that I enjoy the most. You get fricked up by ranged enemies until you get in close, and managing that dance while clearing out hordes, elites, and enemies are the most satisfying parts of it.
How is the amount of enemies you fight? Is it the same huge hordes or more like beastmen, less but more powerfull?
it's like beastmen until the game decides to push the "go frick yourself" button where it's like beastmen throwing javelins at you except now you have a rat horde mixed in and specials/armors mixed in with the horde.
At a moment's notice you need to do a LOT of enemy prioritization in a very different way than vermintide, where you need to use your ranged options/abilities to mitigate how fricked you get by ranged while still dealing with hordes
The filler is mostly huge hordes of weaklings, think twice L4D's count but with better melee. Then you get a bunch of specials on top of that that change the flow depending on which spawn. You get heavily armored melee types, squads of ranged enemies that are actually dangerous (you can stop them from shooting by suppressing them with your own fire or getting into melee with them, which is an important part of combat), plus standard disabler types you need to be rescued from, bosses, and mission-specific events like a pack of dogs rushing your group down.
tl;dr you get both, but mostly huge hordes
At max level, yeah. The thing that makes shock super busted is near the end of the tree, but homing shards (Assail) is pretty decent from the get go. Shock is low-damage chain-lightning that stuns enemies for as long as you can channel it. Then there's a perk that makes it cost no charge near the end of the tree, so you can literally stunlock absolutely everything short of bosses forever once you get it.
I love VT1/2 and got bored of Darktide because progression was slow/sucked (no fricking classes) and the map rotation/variety sucked.
Can I play now? Please say yes I love these games but Darktide fricking sucked wieners on release
>Skill tree you get to put 40 points into, more or less
>each class now have choices between three nades, three abilities, three auras, and three passive systems (like psykers brain burst/warp charges)
>Ogryn has slow taunt-aggro tank, vanilla bulldozer charge-in disruptor type, and gunner type, etc. All classes get choices like that
It's way better than launch, but it's still more or less the same game. It's also got some busted shit right now that makes 95% of it a cakewalk.
And it's still less than vermintide 2 on release lol
The game should have released in this current state. It's been basically a beta this entire time up until this update.
I found a very fun Zealot play.
>knife
>base 10% chance to crit
>applies 3 bleed DOTs on a body hit
>applies 7 bleed DOTs on a critical hit
>20% more likely to crit a bleeding target
>critical hit shaves off my Ability cooldown by 3 seconds
>talent tree update comes out
>all these talents are still in there
>new talent that gives you 25% extra crit chance after you've killed 25 enemies
everything's just fricking dying and monstrosities are bleeding out in seconds, praise the emperor
What's the most overpowered class? My friend just bought the game for me and I don't give a frick about 40k or the game at all and just want to snooze my way through this shit.
psyker building for the tree that gives you the little throwing shards
Max level? Shock psyker, no question. Early game? Probably Zealot (melee class with last-stand mechanic) or Vet (gun class), dunno. If you wanna melee I'd go Zealot and just take survivability shit with a Bolter to help your friend whenever he gets pinned. Otherwise, just hide behind your team playing support-Vet and shoot shit with a lasgun while your team benefits from your auras.
>(melee class with last-stand mechanic)
Haha, you fool! That's no longer base kit! That's now like level 20ish.
They're all overpowered in their own way - not in a 'just pick who you like, man' non-answer way, you can really break the game and hard carry as anyone
the fatshart cycle continues
the next update will be utterly garbage and break more shit than it fixes
fat shark has convinced me melee combat doesn't belong in first person games
Just 2 more years and it'll be all ready to play
can you play this like l4d or kf and just run though the level shooting everything until it dies?
You literally have objectives just like in both of those games.
So yeah, shooting and running and smashing is the whole gameplay of dark tide. Or maybe I just didn't understand the question.
He might mean if you can JUST play with guns with no regard for melee.
And if thats the case, you ALMOST can. At some point though you're going to be forced to melee because the hordes are too thick, and if you are bad at melee these moments 100% crumble a party
There has never been a good 40k game and there never will. Shit material guarantees a shit product.
