homosexual? or just gay. The reason to worry about good games not being more popular is that they will stop being made. Get the through you thick fricking skull CUUUUUUNNNNNNNTTTTT
I keep trying it but stop after a quest or two, it just doesnt feel good or satisfying to me. the most fun I've found is just using gyro with the lbg. all the other weapons Ive tried either don't appeal to me or feel like shit
monster hunter's appeal is that it's a relatively slow heavy impact combat, rise is gen U 2.0 in which it's hyper monster hunter. World was already skirting that line, Rise just said frick it we don't care.
World is just a superior game. Rise came to everything and barely anyone cares. People only hyped it up cause it was on Switch exclusively. Now people have their choice on which to play and they're choosing World.
its just not that full of a game and it makes it feel repetitive when all the maps have the same design and you know exactly where all the monsters are and fight them in the same flat circle. there's just so many more things that can happen in world and the environment feels alive and you can interact it with them. you can observe the monsters in world and there doing things other than just being placed in there to fight. there's nothing suprising about rise. like there isn't a waterfall moment in rise.

How many times can you people have the same conversation?
World was designed to appeal to a more mainstream western audience. That's all there is too it; there's no need to get dramatic about it.

Sunbreak is much more fun than Rise. Had so much fun with the new Switch Skill especially with SA which I found sorely lacking on World due to clagger bullshit. Risen monsters are the highlights for me. Frickers actually punish you if you wirebug like a moron.

Sunbreak is so much better than Rise it isn't even funny. It even has one of the better original locales in the series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw-T0VUzOio
Risebabs being so insecure that they need to deflect to World at literally every moment will never stop being funny. It's like you're scared people won't know that World lives rent free in your head so you're trying to shout it from the rooftops.
>but with bad graphics
That's inherently worse for wider appeal. World's obsession with its barebones story and unskippable cutscenes are for the movie-brained morons who buy it.
The bad graphics and "weeaboo" aesthetic are enough to turn off normalgays. I agree the gameplay is largely the same thing. I don't really think one is worse than the other as I didn't particularly love either one.
World has better graphics and a cinematic story. They're always guiding you toward your next objective with a gripping story, cinematic cutscenes, and constant signposting. Each monster is introduced as part of the story and the characters are consistently linking events together. There's always something keeping players engaged all the way through even past the credits. Not to mention all the little extras you can find by exploring in expeditions.
Rise, meanwhile, is much more barebones in its presentation. The story is mostly text boxes with maybe three important cutscenes. The quests are just an impersonal list where only a handful tie into the main story. The environments are bland but serviceable, not something that would wow anyone enough to explore them. There are a couple things to find (the journal entries and SINGULAR hidden endemic life) but there's no fanfare to them. There's just nothing there to hook players in the same ways World did. You have to actually like Monster Hunter to get into it, and a lot of players on either end of the spectrum (new players wowed by World and hardcore classic enthusiasts) don't see it as a title worthy of their time.
Keep in mind the current e-celeb boost from asmongloid making the numbers even more disparate than before. Regardless, Lacks the larger map and immersive ecosystem, also lower graphical fidelity. Some people will come up with other answers but they’re wrong, fix the aforementioned and people would stop complaining. I prefer the combat system to World’s and have more hours in rise btw.
For me it was the wirebug stuff, I eventually came to terms that I will be playing my weapon in a totally different manner.
Then I got on Sunbreak and I was told by the game that I had to switch movesets mid combat so I stopped playing.
I'll eventually go back to it but that shit was too drastic, I was kinda annoyed with World when I saw that I could turn mid-charge with the GS, imagine how it felt when the whole classic move set was not viable anymore.
Been playing since MHFU.
The only moronation is claiming that a game balanced around wirebug skills is as enjoyable or viable with the original move set as the games built around the original move sets.
>crying that the "forces" you to do anything
world is the only game that forces shit on you, and thats its unskippable story shit

it took you 1000 hours to beat the game?
are you moronic?
I bought both, played 7-10 hours each, and decided to complete World first. I don't like silkbinds/wirebugs at all and the fricking dogshit tower defense game has me walled off from advancing from the real game.
I hated this of everything thing they put in rise one thing was a major step back from world, and it’s clearly a limitation brought forth by the switch.
Worlds online functionality is simply just way better y0JKDH
I've seen that video too, and I commented on it as well. It's the most moronic fallacy I've ever seen, considering most portable games are just handheld versions of the exact same console games, 3U was literally cross-platform play with portable devices, all of 4th gen was portable-only, and even with this bad dichotomy, it doesn't settle for the fact that World is the most extreme outlier in the franchise's history, where Rise is more traditional in every way other than the Wirebugs.
>One set per monster. >No guild card customization at all. >Know where the monster is on the map at all times. >Arcade video game power ups with birds and animals that buff your HP. >Max potions no longer boost your HP past max, and are just a quick heal. >You don't even lose food buffs upon carting.
The only classic aspect to Rise is the hub and village distinction for quests. Where does this rhetoric of Rise being 'closer' to classic come from?
It's using a decades-old engine built for handheld consoles. Pushed to its limit, yes, but you can absolutely tell it's a repurposed PSP game with higher resolution textures and more shit on the screen to make it presentable. Most of the processing power goes into keeping up with the faster action that probably wasn't possible a decade and a half ago.
Meanwhile World is on a modern engine. It takes advantage of that to look great and do things that fundamentally weren't possible a decade ago.
World is a glorified conversion mod of MH4U, its prototype was literally built on top of 4U while they were working on the engine update for MT Framework that World would end up running on, with GU for Switch as the testbed for its material shader features and such.
There's nothing wrong with it capcom just pushes world more and I guess the presentation and graphics of world are that much more of a draw for casual players
Rise feels like a Spinoff not a main game.
Like an experimental game to se what mechanics they can reuse in future games.
If you enjoy Monster hunter you enjoy it as well. But its just not as immersive and as fun to master as World.
But then again once streamers and new players finish World maybe some of them will move on to rise and it will revive the game.
>Rise feels like a Spinoff not a main game.
Because it is.
Why are people saying this like its a bad thing?
Everyone beloved Freedom Unite is also a spinoff by the way, its part of the same "portable" series as GU and Rise.
Freedom Unite was still 2nd Gen, and in line with the rest of 2nd gen. The only actual changes they made were stripping down the Tower and Yama Tsukami fight, and getting rid of seasons from Dos.
Generations and Rise does everything it can to push you towards complete anti-MonHun mechanics and both games visually hated the traditional aesthetic of the franchise. P3rd was the last time portable even bothered caring about being like the rest of its generation, but also began the moronic super glowing ultra element monster shit.
rise child game.... look to cartoon grapfix to make kid player happy like children show.. rise cartoon world with rainbow unlike world with dark corridorr and raelistic weapon.. rise like playhouse. rise playor run from worldfear of dark world and realism
>weebshit >looks like garbage >no verticality >monster fighter instead of monster hunter >dangos >wirebug >the world is dead and soulless
At least it had nice girls?
The most telling thing about the constant multi-year long spam of "UHHHH WHAT HAPPEN TO RISE!?!?! WHY WORLD BETTER?!" from people pretending to be fans is that in all of these threads there is never once even a single lobby posted for ANY MH game
>Casualized the game further >Normalgays absolutely hate the emphasis on the anime shit >Obnoxious dog mount >Mounting mechanics >Wirebug >It's easy >RNG end grinding shit
Honestly, it's a portable game so it is what it is.
newbies, consolewarriors and Eric from /vg/ are obsessed with making everything about them shitflinging for whatever reason. Discussion of this series has been a headache since World much in the same way MMORPGs and even this site died culturally when they were never longer as niche.
It’s funny because it’s true but not in the way you mean it, people want to talk about monster hunter including the latest mainline game, world, but you get screeching tendie cultists who started with 4U
I just thought that a lot of the changes made the game kind of boring. No more having to find monsters, they're all on the map already. You as a hunter are incredibly powerful and the monsters just can't keep up. Having multiple monsters at a time is actually a benefit rather than a detriment. Stuff like that.
World is simply more interesting and fun to play, especially on PC - on PC World has far far far more mods, a tighter community, is more friendly for new players and features a better lobby system, whereas Rise requires friends or groups to play - also Rise has absolutely dogshit matchmatching and an equally dogshit end game, whereas World has flawless matchmaking and three different end games
On Switch, Generations Ultimate has everything Rise did and more, without resorting to cheap garbage or a shitty story, not to mention the fricked up OST
Rise just sucks, period
The saddest part about Rise is the fact somehow people who were new with World then moved onto Rise for "old good proper Monster Hunter" and think they're somehow oldschool for playing it, when it's an even easier game than World with the wirebugs that let you jump out of any attack at any time
Also, lets be fair I guess:
You can effortlessly play Generations Ultimate on the PC within an hour just by downloading a fitgirl repack, no effort needed
You can also effortlessly play Rise / Sunbreak on the PC within an hour just by downloading a fitgirl repack, no effort needed
World requires a more intensive and longer download process and pirating it stops you from enjoying the multiplayer aspect which is easily one of its best features (and is the best Monster Hunter game thus far for MP quality) so nobody wants to do that
So naturally the Rise player count is going to tank a little when it's just a tiny morsel tier title that is better pirated than bought outright and nobody would suffer for doing so
>MH6 revealed at game awards >20th anniversary >World goes on a massive sale >Popular streamers pick it up, accelerating the hype
The same will happen to Rise after they're done with World, but on a smaller scale
Between Rise and the troony femhunters I see on World, I fear the franchise is close to losing it's original identity. It stops feeling like Monster Hunter when the monsters are Pokemon and the hunters are tranime weebs. Pray for Wilds.
i like both, I just wish wirebugs wasn't as strong and how every weapon has a god damn counter
Sunbreak is also a good expansion overall, follower system is really nice and for what it's worth, the switch skill set system let you do some DMC tier shit
isn't it a switch game that was ported to pc? so i'd imagine the scale is much smaller than world. that was the big thing about world. the series was locked onto handhelds for generations and then when we finally get a console game it's monster hunter tri for the wii. world was the series finally started to spread its wings. the devs should keep going in that direction and make an even bigger more unrestrained game. instead with rise they go back to a 'handheld'
>worldsperms still unable to grasp how the franchise works with the “main” and “portable” entries >worldsperms don’t realize most of Rise’s sales are on switch and the playerbase stuck to it >worldsperms using steam’s playercount (a single platform) as a metric when the game was exclusive to switch for an entire year and is now on every platform >worldsperms don’t realize that the majority of MonHun fans who wanted to play Rise got it on switch >worldsperms ruin MonHun with their consolewar shit >worldsperms are graphicprostitutes
It's a great game, it just doesn't have good graphics so the normies don't play it. Why is this news to you? How old are you? This is always how it's been in other franchises, the only reason people put up with shit graphics in MonHun is because it was handheld.
Rise is good, but world is still better
Also shitty endgame and primordial malzeno is "meh" Fatalis and Alatreon are more fun, and the MP is shit, just let me pick what SOS i can answer, no, its gonna be random you gonna hunt zinogre for the 158 time and you gonna like it, also 16 people room? No, the switch is gonna explote, put only 4 room
Nothing went wrong with Rise, its a good game.
World is just baby's first monhun and has GRAPHIX.
It also appeals to soulgays because it's less "anime".
>Well the multiplayer literally doesn’t fricking work
never had a single issue. world on the other hand was disconnect city for a solid 2 months. no, it's not my fiber internet that's the problem.
>I don’t understand what went wrong with Rise? It’s such a fun game to me.
nothing. it's just that median-aged zoomers have this moronic belief of >mainline good >portable bad
not understanding that monhun has basically 5 mainline games, and they were in diapers for 1 and 2, were children for tri, didn't play 4 because they were playing on ipads, then were old enough to play world. that's it. world is a good game. it's not in the top 5 best monhun games, but it's good. it's a game specifically made for americans, and that's why it's so boring compared to the rest of the franchise.
MHW is a purely cinematic casual movie game. Everything is centered around watching animations they've even turned auto attacks into a forced cinematic with bad controls. It's like if Elden Ring had no difficulty but required you to press 3 buttons to watch a weapons light attack string and then watch the boss pretend to fight you. It's a movie game using bad controls as a shield for criticism because the idiots who like watching the movie can't accept that there's no depth or difficulty or even a game to be played. It's built to waste your time and make morons feel good about killing big dinosaurs. If you disagree you're a moronic homosexual
>rise multiplayer >play with and rank up with friends >world multiplayer >every watches a cutscene separately >abandon quest >restart quest so you can all play together
actual moron.
While I appreciate a lot of the QoL additions to the game, including Palamutes, the combat itself is actually too easy and you actually have too many mobility options which makes the monsters feel significantly less threatening and undercuts the importance of a lot of the items you can craft and use..
Theres a lot in Rise I wouldn't want to give up but theres also stuff I'd prefer was rolled back.
Didn't play World at all so don't whine at me about that.
If you like it, then don't worry about it. Just enjoy it.

The entire series of MH until World proves you wrong, frick off newbie.
Yes
What's really wrong with it is that Capcom failed to implement the Gun Sword from Lost Planet 2 as a new weapon class
What's wrong with it? I bought it a few weeks back, first video game I've played in years and have +150 hours.

>Wirebug
>It's easy
>RNG end grinding shit
Honestly, it's a portable game so it is what it is.
Why are anons like this?
newbies, consolewarriors and Eric from /vg/ are obsessed with making everything about them shitflinging for whatever reason. Discussion of this series has been a headache since World much in the same way MMORPGs and even this site died culturally when they were never longer as niche.
Meds.
This image is true but replace love with hate and it would be more accurate.
good lord the nintroonydo falseflag
It’s funny because it’s true but not in the way you mean it, people want to talk about monster hunter including the latest mainline game, world, but you get screeching tendie cultists who started with 4U
I just thought that a lot of the changes made the game kind of boring. No more having to find monsters, they're all on the map already. You as a hunter are incredibly powerful and the monsters just can't keep up. Having multiple monsters at a time is actually a benefit rather than a detriment. Stuff like that.
How do i git gud with LS in world?
i only really want switch skills to come back
please god let gunlance keep blast dash i don't give a FRICK about charged shot
>i don't give a FRICK about charged shot
Nobody does. They need to make charged shells scalable
The aesthetics of base Rise probably don't appeal to most people, it was also very easy. Still, it sold 13M+ copies so that's hardly a bad thing.
World requires a more intensive and longer download process and pirating it stops you from enjoying the multiplayer aspect which is easily one of its best features (and is the best Monster Hunter game thus far for MP quality) so nobody wants to do that
So naturally the Rise player count is going to tank a little when it's just a tiny morsel tier title that is better pirated than bought outright and nobody would suffer for doing so
Base World was just as bad as base Rise. MR salvaged both games.
why did it increase in popularity all of a sudden?
>MH6 revealed at game awards
>20th anniversary
>World goes on a massive sale
>Popular streamers pick it up, accelerating the hype
The same will happen to Rise after they're done with World, but on a smaller scale
oh true I saw Asmon made several videos about it recently.
He picked up the game AFTER it hit like 150k concurrent, he is not the cause.
goes on a massive sale
I'm still pissed I didn't know this and missed it.
Asmongold.
Between Rise and the troony femhunters I see on World, I fear the franchise is close to losing it's original identity. It stops feeling like Monster Hunter when the monsters are Pokemon and the hunters are tranime weebs. Pray for Wilds.
>troony femhunters I see on World
QRD?
i like both, I just wish wirebugs wasn't as strong and how every weapon has a god damn counter
Sunbreak is also a good expansion overall, follower system is really nice and for what it's worth, the switch skill set system let you do some DMC tier shit
can you clutch claw spin attack with the hammer in rise?
isn't it a switch game that was ported to pc? so i'd imagine the scale is much smaller than world. that was the big thing about world. the series was locked onto handhelds for generations and then when we finally get a console game it's monster hunter tri for the wii. world was the series finally started to spread its wings. the devs should keep going in that direction and make an even bigger more unrestrained game. instead with rise they go back to a 'handheld'
Side game, on game pass, doesn't currently have a marketing campaign about returning to it
>worldsperms still unable to grasp how the franchise works with the “main” and “portable” entries
>worldsperms don’t realize most of Rise’s sales are on switch and the playerbase stuck to it
>worldsperms using steam’s playercount (a single platform) as a metric when the game was exclusive to switch for an entire year and is now on every platform
>worldsperms don’t realize that the majority of MonHun fans who wanted to play Rise got it on switch
>worldsperms ruin MonHun with their consolewar shit
>worldsperms are graphicprostitutes
It simply isn't as good as World.
asmongold hasn't stated my opinion yet so idk.
It's a great game, it just doesn't have good graphics so the normies don't play it. Why is this news to you? How old are you? This is always how it's been in other franchises, the only reason people put up with shit graphics in MonHun is because it was handheld.
Do we really need TWO of these?
Up until a few hours ago there were three monster hunter threads, all opening with steamcharts images. Very telling
Yes, Ganker need to have validation for their opinion. Also infinite amount of (you)s.
>16 people in one hunt
Holy casualgay.
It's 16-people rooms, not hunts.
90% of the player base is on Switch
It’s damn near impossible to play with a keyboard and mouse since the game is so much faster than World
Did we ever get numbers for this? How much of Rise's userbase is actually on Switch, and how big is the active userbase?
The game sold like 12 million copies and 10 million of those is on switch.
You can look up the global sales for MH Rise, it released on other platforms January 2022. Before that it sold 8 million copies exclusively on Switch
I played riseborne for 300 hours but it doesn't hit like a real mh game.
Gonna play the ICE mod for World until Wilds comes out.
No Kirin armor = no buy
It’s dumbed down to shit, piss easy.
People like to pretend rise is harder or has more challenging monsters I just laugh. Rise has wirebug which trivializes the game
I was liking it at first but when I heard the "My Queen, my queen." part of the story, I then realized that Capcom was cooking shite all along.
World and Rise are both just so fricking boring
you're just old anon
I'm old because I don't enjoy mindless button mashing?
You sound like previous titles were turn based.
They basically were
Rise is too easy. Simple as. Wirebugs were a mistake.
It's a shitty port that is inferior both graphically and gameplay-wise.
Nothing went wrong with Rise, its a good game.
World is just baby's first monhun and has GRAPHIX.
It also appeals to soulgays because it's less "anime".
Well the multiplayer literally doesn’t fricking work
>Well the multiplayer literally doesn’t fricking work
never had a single issue. world on the other hand was disconnect city for a solid 2 months. no, it's not my fiber internet that's the problem.
>I don’t understand what went wrong with Rise? It’s such a fun game to me.
nothing. it's just that median-aged zoomers have this moronic belief of
>mainline good
>portable bad
not understanding that monhun has basically 5 mainline games, and they were in diapers for 1 and 2, were children for tri, didn't play 4 because they were playing on ipads, then were old enough to play world. that's it. world is a good game. it's not in the top 5 best monhun games, but it's good. it's a game specifically made for americans, and that's why it's so boring compared to the rest of the franchise.
Rise graphics and online system sucks, its like a downgrade
>rise multiplayer
>play with and rank up with friends
>world multiplayer
>every watches a cutscene separately
>abandon quest
>restart quest so you can all play together
actual moron.
is the cutscene issue in the iceborne part too? im gonna play solo and then join a friend for his campaign because it might be better this way
still as bad, and there's even more cutscenes now.
frick... should i just tell him to get Rise instead and play MHW by myself? i wanted to get him into monhun and i only have experience with World
This moron only have switch
>16 players lobby
>Kulve taroth raid
>Graphics
>This moron only have switch
certified sir moment.
>There are three (3) of these threads up at this very moment
