They are slowly learning button + button inputs such as two handing in elden ring.
Hopefully in their next game we'll have a proper way to use spells instead of cycling through them with the dpad.

They desperately need a better control system. Sprint and dodge on the same button is absolutely archaic especially given the fact that other devs have figured out ways to avoid both that AND avoid claw gripping for free cam.

Monster Hunter's control scheme works excellently with even more actions, though I wish the radial menu was better in 5th gen.
Dragon's Dogma's control scheme is incredibly good with the obvious caveat being that it doesn't have items mapped to buttons.
Both Nioh games have excellent control schemes that allow for a huge amount of moves to be mapped to button combinations/combo enders, though those games do not have jumping and you still have to claw grip to freecam run.
Recently Granblue Relink's control scheme really impressed me with how natural it is.
All of those games have MORE actions than From games and are objectively more effective control schemes that could easily be retooled to fit. The main difference is that Capcom, TN, and Cygames aren't deathly afraid of button combinations like From is for whatever reason.
This isn’t a from thing, the entire industry is absolutely moronic when it comes to taking advantage of what a controller can do. Precisely because yeah they are all allergic to button combinations.

I quite like DaS2 armor sets and unique weapons like the spell that casts magic, i dont care much for ER/DS3 combat but the art direction is amazing, DaS1 excels at world and level design the most, etc.
