tried playing this game too for a few hours and it was just dogshit
But enough about Elden Ring
I think he meant zeldor.
saw my cousin play it, not interested
zelda games are also garbage
Surprising no one, you’ve got some pretty shit taste.
both are good though?

"Filtered" is a buzzword, just like "soul" and "fun", used by morons with rotten brains from spending too much time on Ganker.
"I fell for the meme" is a buzzword, just like "outdated mechanics", used by FILTERED ZOOMERS with rotten brains.
Lots of threads start with an OP like that but whatever, it's a new DD thread
Dragon's Dogma filtered me several times but once it 'clicked' it became one of favorite experiences in gaming
Is this a meme?
it happened to me too
I think it's actually true.
it happened to a lot of people i know.
I don't know what it is about it, but first time you play it might look/feel boring, but coming to it afterward it feels great.
Maybe it's just picking the class that fits you most.
It's a meme. Had the game when it was first came out on ps3 and even then it was only meh at best. This board is just filled with terminal coomers that only judge games on how much they can play dress up with women.
the game got ignored entirely because of skyrim and Ganker just copies whats on reddits front page of /r/gaming.
Then go back, you newbie piece of shit.
Wait, I can coom to it?
>"coomer"
KYS, troony.
It happened to me. Now I have ~600 hours and full 3 star pawn superstar.
Think it's some shit from a YouTuber who didn't care for the game
I gave up like 3 times and then I forced myself to play a longer play session and it clicked. It's just unfortunately one of those games that takes time to get into.
For me personally, I liked the game out the gate. As soon as I was able to pick up a goblin and throw it off a cliff, I was hooked. Though as I progressed, and learned the game's systems, I definitely reached a greater appreciation, so I'm not surprised a lot of people have this reaction.
I hated the demo when I played it years ago
I bought it for $20 on xbox and ended up loving it
DDA is an amazingly flawed game but god damn when it's good it's great
Same
I tried the original demo and just didn’t find it fun at all. Then after expansion came out I suddenly had this craving for a third person adventure game with day night cycle and shit to explore then remembered DD. Straight up bought it and had a great time.
same but it actually clicked in the post game so....
The game unironically clicked with me once I went into BBI after starting ng+. It's not a bad game by any stretch, but it didn't rise above a 6.5/10 until that point for me. Here's hoping 2 has more areas like that. Seems like they have an actual budget this time around. I'm genuinely hyped
I dropped this game before coming back and finally beating it.
Then I beat it 2 more times.
the game is good you just need to stop expecting miracles out of it. the game is clearly constrained by its own engine and console limitations. they really tried to do a lot with so little and it fumbles the game a bit but there's some gold to be dug up.
fun game gayet
It'll get good with 2 trust me.
I just finished that game today
Played it before ages ago but stopped after the dragon, now I actually beat the final boss
I gave up on Daimon though, BBI has way too many oneshots
Can't wait for 2
I remember seeing comments about some frickery to get it to even work on PC. How is that?
?? it runs perfectly
If you have Windows 10 N then you're kinda fricked since the game requires Windows Media Player for some reason and you can't install it normally on N.
What does the N stand for
It's a version of Windows that comes without a bunch of bloat such as Skype, voice recorder and a bunch of other Microsoft owned software.
Well, in that case if you have windows Black personBlack personBlack person I say you deserve it
Lol some jelly consolegay tricked you
There was some shit with getting control locked at character creation or during the tutorial because it didn't switch modes or whatever. I don't know if that's just when pirating though.
pretty sure that only happens if you have the dinput mod installed
You should have known all roads lead to Gran Soren anon. Listen to your pawns and you would have known you would not appreciate the journey. Likely, because you are a troony or some other ilk
There is no journey. The game takes you to nearly every place in the map and you can't miss anything unique.
how is that not a journey? and why are you phrasing it like it's a bad thing?
That's wrong, though.
>people kept telling how assassin is the go to boss killer
>was doing great until I reached bbi
dire gouge just isn't worth it when I can just use brain splitter or thousand kisses as strider, not to mention leaping stone works on death, which means brain splitter can actually kill him unlike suffering as assassin and doing jack shit to death
They lied, strider is the boss killer. But you made the mistake of not mentioning Fracture Dart.
>Fracture dart
my pawn spams it because I use a rusted bow for that torpor debuff
FD isn't that good at applying debuffs because you need to use it sub-optimally for the debuff to happen. FD is best used for damage and stagger/knockdown.
as I said, my pawn has a proper dmg bow to spam fd, I use fivefold flurry to apply torpor
Have you tried leaping stone + helmsplitter on your pawn? Mine rarely if ever follows up stone with splitter.
I tried it but don't remember having good results, my pawn is using bow for the most time and it rarely goes into melee.
daily dragon's dogma seethe thread
Well yeah.
Any smart person knows there's a reason why it took a fricking decade to get a sequel. It was mid.
>finished it twice, completely. death farmed etc
>"how about starting a hard playthrough"
>its not fun at all
but I still wanna finish it now, goddammit
>meme difficulties have meme difficulty
shocking report. difficulties over "standard/normal" are just for jerking off in RPGs.
>"it gets good after Gran Soren bro"
Dafuq you talking about, homosexual OP?
Game is good from the start
I just started as a mage and the enemy targeting system sucks.
Dumb enemies fight dumb. Lots if maingame enemies exist somewhere on the “dopey frick” spectrum and Bitterblack Isle is where all the shit that actually likes killing people live.
Basically, your little combat can be easy epiphany is real.
Skill issue.
DD tested you to see if you can spot a gem and you failed. That’s your failure, not the game. We know the game is good. It’s you we should doubt OP.
I tried playing it but when I use a controller I can't call spells. The cast time is infinite.
I looked up this problem and some people got it at launch. It's a bug and no one knows how to fix it, I'm just shit out of luck.
Anon you can’t be missing something that obvious. I feel like telling you what you’re fricking up would just be rubbing salt on your wound.
You're a moron, it is nothing obvious. I looked this up extensively. You're probably one of the low IQ morons who think I am not releasing the button. b***h I have mashed and released all buttons and yet my character stays acting as if I was holding the cast button infinitely. Again it is a common and well documented bug.
Yes, if anything it is the opposite. The game blows its load at the beginning, but the more you play it the more you realize how flawed and repetitive it is.
>all classes are more or less the same, upgrades are marginal
>they had no excuse to make dozens of classes if they were gonna put so little effort into each one
>empty open world with copy pasted enemies (not like Elden Ring or TotK where no two enemy camps or bosses are the same, in Dragon's Dogma it is literally copy pasted enemy camps and bosses with zero variation)
The list goes on.
Only vocations I could enjoy was Strider or Assassin, and Ranger was sorta right after in enjoyment.
Original launch with 20k ferrystones and two whole port crystals was a massive pain. The only pre-placed one was the Gran Soren pawn guild, so the default town if you wanted to go back that far you had to drop a port crystal near there.
>was a massive pain
its part of what made me fall in love with the game tbh. once I got past the butthurt I found the fun in foot adventuring.
Foot adventuring is fine, but there is so few route or even shortcuts around that you run the same path too many times and it becomes grating. Like going through the quarry is a nice short cut, but if you were in Gran Soren and you needed to get to the Witchwood, there is only one way. I think Assassins double jump and that one ice move for sorcs are the only way up from that south side near the starter town
It's not like the game is long, especially on subsequent playthroughs, and the quarry specifically upgrades over time. gransys is a pretty good size for foot travel too. kingdoms of amalur is like the max possible for no mounts adventuring and gransys is a fraction of that game. I'm also in the minority who believes SOVL requires a bit of inconvenience though so there's that too.
>believing the hype
>trusting viral marketers being paid to push a narrative
>ignoring all the posts warning you that it's nothing special
Sucks to be you, anon.
wolves hunt in packs
I thought the game had good mechanics but was underbaked in terms of content. Bitterblack being the exception, loved that shit.
The best thing about Dragon's Dogma 2 being so similar to the first is that all the haters will either have to admit they were wrong and play it or skip the game and miss out.
The loot system and story immersion being broken by suspicious arousal fricking ruined it for me.
Those things just make game feel very half baked.
>suspicious arousal
The Duke's wife wants you to speak with her in private. She has her servant tell you to meet her at the bedchamber during night. Unsurprisingly the queen is a fricking shameless harlot. Duke begins strangling the queen while you're hidden. You either come out of hiding and stop the Duke from strangling her to death or just let nature takes it's course. If you save the queen she throws you under the bus and says you broke in. Duke throws you into prison. You whipped tortured for some time and eventually the queen comes to break you out. You literally can walk past the fricking guards in full view and out of the city like nothing happened. You go back and talk to the Duke and he acts like none of it ever happened.
don't know if it's in-game flavor or an out of game statement/theory but the duke can't really acknowledge anything about that night. he doesn't know how much you know. also cut content.
I got to Gran Soren, activated the Beholder thingie for the pawns and now every quest sends me to extremely far away without me knowing if I can take the enemies on the way plus I think I spent my only fast travel stone after doing the grimoire quest? Shit's rough, man.
Also kinda getting bored of only spamming the same 2 dagger moves as Strider, but the cool shit for Assassin seems to be sword... I don't know what to do. Open games like this frick me up.
go to the shadowfort first. take mercedes' escort if you're feeling tough. also take an ice enchant on a caster pawn. thank me later.
Yeah, I got all the enchants on my main pawn because I figured it would pay off. Shadowfort, huh? Okay, will try that next.
no just one enchant or they'll just frick it up. ice is just useful on the path and somewhat in the fort. you can ask for help when your health is full like before battle to pre-buff (or even during battle.) I hope you picked up the portcrystal down at the bottom of the everfall but you should have an infinite ferrystone in the bank and useless DLC gear to sell.
at this point I have every spell, just keep 1 enchant on
> you should have an infinite ferrystone in the bank
oh
you should probably try to have a lightning spell of some kind too if you're doing the shadowfort
like have a pawn with levin and you're good
grab yourself a few qol mods from nexus and enjoy
Is the Warrior class really as shit as people say it is? I just got the game and I really want to clobber things with a big sword.
Yes it only has 3 skills. While other classes get 6 skills.
can't you just equip 3 anyway
>can't you just equip 3 anyway
no other classes can literally equip 6 skills
3 per weapon
+ up to 12 skills if you carry all weapons, it really isn't fair warrior gets 3
Ah, okay, I figured. For a hot minute thought I was moronic and could be walking around with 6 dagger skills all this time.
The 3 skills sounds kind of lame but I think I'll give it a go, Thanks fellas.
it's the only vocation I've never gotten tired of in 10 years.
>3 skills instead of 6 for using 1 weapon
>poor at dealing with fliers
>midtier climber
>comparably small variety of skills
>no physical bow (a disadvantage shared by most vocations though)
>its best moves are hard to use by pawns
>only 1 defensive skill versus the other vocations' multiple defensive skills/core abilities
Yeah, kinda shitty in general practice but still situationally great/amazing when it can be. You can still cover your weaknesses with pawns.
>Chad's Guide
>The voice is that of a fricking twink
I think that's how they call girls in Australia.
Silly anon, there are no Australians on the internet.
God, I wish.
It's shitty by comparison. It's a lot of fun on its own, but the problem is that all the other vocations simply overshadow it.
Cept mages, YUCK
Mages and warriors are overshadowed but still effective in their own rights. A mage that is more offensively inclined will still wreck shop with good gears and the right skills. It just needs halidom and anondyne for support, the rest can be offensive spells like comestion. It's still a pawn vocation while warrior is more of an arisen vocation.
A bit of a trap there though - for a mage pawn, don't upgrade the offensive spells beyond tier 1 or they will try to up-cast the whole spell rather than quick firing off spells. I have a level 29 hired pawn mage who casts comestion so fast and often that I'm often competing with her for killing.
stupid gay
it is good from lvl 1 if you do the BBI rush
>number goes up
>dopamine hit
>repeats
Singleplayer RPG game design still working
I fell for it as well. What a shitty game.
What do you actually do in this game, even? All I've ever seen of this game is people talking about their pawns and doing wacky stuff with them, but no one ever talks about the story or characters or the gameplay. What's the actual point of it?
>no one ever talks about the story or characters or the gameplay
moron.
Gameplay is going 4 striders with fracture dart through BBI while blasting Fortunate Son.
>I'm a bad enough dude to know I don't need a heart
>Tis a useless thing
Because most of the quests are MMO tier fetch quests.
objectively true
factually you don't need to do every single shitty quest board side-mission
Never trust Ganker. The board is full of MMO players, hispanics, etc.
The game world is so small. Just as it feels like you're getting going it's already over.
>been waiting for the DD2 footage to finally be released to shill this game because I knew it would look sick
>he thinks it looks pretty cool
>buys the game on sale and it's really enjoying the game, surprised it went under the radar
He even hired my pawn and I have a friend to joke about DD quotes with.
huh?
I only slept 3 hours today bros, I meant to say I waited for the trailer to drop so I could shill the game to a friend, this same friend bought ddda and is currently enjoying it a lot.
>he
Who is he?
I don't know how to approach BBI. I was around level 40 and I didn't have the materials to rarify my equipment when I went there so my damage wasn't enough. Then I got hasty and beat the game. I'd like to know the easiest way to go through the DLC if possible.
the easiest way is getting dragon weapons from grigori then going to BBI.
For a smooth, vanilla experience, you should be using at least Grigori/Everfall weapons by the time you tackle BBI but obviously there are ways around that
Beat the game and then go
Once you get a better idea of how it works is when you can start going earlier and earlier
