I always check what weapons pawns use even if its gold forged. I get that some players think their being helpful putting end game weapons on low level pawns but if they use any ability it instantly drains their little stamina. sometimes those late game weapons are more of a pain than a help early game
He was talking about how weapons do have a level requirement. By around 50 you can use any weapon in the game without a stamina penalty, but before then it cost stamina to swing. I haven't run into it myself so I don't know how severe it is.
A dozen hours back in and I remember why, despite the great combat and satisfying pawn system, I have not touched it in years. I hope they fix some shit for the sequel. Maybe hire some writers, talented map designers and quest designers.
This. I recruit every pawn I see that has any of the DLC outfits. If you're wearing the queen's robes, nun attire, or the blonde guy knight's garb, you deserve brining. Absolutely fricking lazy, put more effort in, I respect coomer pawns more than yours.
>A dozen hours back in and I remember why, despite the great combat and satisfying pawn system, I have not touched it in years
Yeah, though i did like coming back in my second cycle and getting all that main game shit that i didnt get before, doing those main game quests, and getting dragon tears and wyrmking rings ect, killing the ur dragon and farming a billiion wakestones was all really fun. Maybe i was too harsh on the main game, though i did farm a few more runs on BBI.
I'm phone posting so no, but she's lvl 30, has the shitty starter longbow since i can't find another one; those curved daggers that look like a crescent moon; and i tried to make her look like Meryl from mgs
With magic imbalancer then. I only have sixfold because rngesus hates me and it feels like I'm not doing much even with a goldforge lv3 weapon. When climbing it also takes a bit and it also awful to climb on a dragon trying to get to the heart. Is there any trick for that too?
Tried playing it. Was going through the game, did some starting quests, went under the pawn guild and suddenly everything has fifty times more health.
Fantastic pacing.
On the one hand it's really cool to unwittingly stumble across an area that has you outmatched and you still pull off a win. On the other hand, frick that.
The ogre is supposed to be a high level surprise encounter you can try to throw him out of the ledge or run past him. The zombies have to be dealt with fire or holy damage, brute forcing them is a slog. I don't think there should be any more problems after that, really.
Is it normal that the game explains nothing though?
Like i get not wanting to hold someones hand. But it puts me right off knowing that it's going to turn into save scum the happening.
It is, you are supposed to explore and experiment, not follow a guide.
Besides this ogre will just kill himself if you just stand on a ledge far away. He just jumps towards you and to his death for some reason.
>you can try to throw him out of the ledge
I've beaten the game like 5 times so far and every time he just randomly jumps off the ledge. Even watched a friend play the game recently, fricker just jumped off, too.
Do you actually have to do something to make him kill himself? I always just assumed it's scripted.
I don't think it's scripted. I've only had him jump twice in a similar number of playthroughs. Although, the very first time I fought him I was climbing him and he leapt off, taking me all the way to the bottom without fall damage.
I wondered why he just walked off the ledge largely of his own volition. I had intended to kill him "legitimately" (spamming Arc of Deliverance while my pawns got brutalized).
Mine is pretty good at killing things, but still needs a little monster knowledge. Just killed BBI2 daimon with her and was surprised that they don't give any pawn knowledge or anything. Also got like 8 copies of that stupid lvl3 MA bow but never seen the lvl3 shortbow before. I really wish you could trade BBI gear :'(
Strong pawn would recommended rarely climb too. Gonna clear every bbi room with her.
https://streamable.com/z31tf1 jump poking gorecyclop's eye like a boss
Radical! It’s so cool to see my little buddy out there helping anons! Glad she’s done you well. I dunno if the talk about training pawns by doing shit is true or not, but I spent hours doing exactly that, wearing all the gear she’s got now, in the hopes she’d learn to do it too.
I also showed her how to jump and cut the tails off chimeras, and to knock flying enemies out of the air.
Thats a good thought, i should start gifting wakestones since i have over a hundred of them now due to spending so long in the everfall.
The only problem is that the only way that im getting a new pawn is if the old one dies permanently somehow. Ill have to be mindful to send pawns back.
Too bad nobody plays on the xbone.
Still, I never teach my pawns to play their vocation and just roll out like that, so I guess she wouldn't be good pawns.
So my my old Steam account basically became my son's steam account. I got a new Steam account months ago just so I can play stuff when he's on the other computer. I bought DDA again on this new Steam account (since it was on sale for five bucks) and I'm able to summon the endgame pawn from my old Steam account for free. Pretty cool right? Wrong. That pawn fricking sucks.
I don't know what I did wrong but she rarely attacks no matter what class I put her in. I stuck her as mage now so she busts off a heal every now and then, but usually she gets interrupted. Not even sitting her down at a table on the old account can fix her. What did I do, Ganker?
There's a brainwasher dude that sells tendency changeling elixirs for rc at the 1st encampment where you fought hydra. But you have to be in postgame and it only affects your main pawn
Anons hired my guy and gifted bbi cursed items, feels good man. Also, turns out there's a bug with grand brontide - if your pawn has it they will NEVER cast it.
I read it on wiki and confirmed it in-game, he casts levin on cyclops every time since he's utilitarian and he does cast brontide and high brontide on them if it's the only thunder spell available but if I only leave him with grand brontide and nothing else he will still not cast it.
I'd post my pawn but I'm away from my PC and she's levelled up since the last screenshot I posted.
If anyone has any short king red or yellow pawns (min height or close to it) around the 38-45 range please post them, finding pocket princes is getting harder the higher up the level brackets I go.
Please hire her, she's around lvl 120+ and he's a beast, she knows a lot of shit because I've been playing strider so she knows what to do.

I hired your pawn, OP. added you through steam too if you wann hire my high level warrior to stomp shit for you for free.
Also gave her a new wizard stick.
Oh shi, will do as I get back to pc. Your high level pawn will be extremely helpful in diminishing my exp gains so I can easily level vocations and not worry about sub-optimal levelups.
Oh shi, will do as I get back to pc. Your high level pawn will be extremely helpful in diminishing my exp gains so I can easily level vocations and not worry about sub-optimal levelups.
no worries yo. It's always handy having access to high level pawns for the reason you mentioned, or if you just wanna farm something.
Vocation levels and normal levels are different.
Vocation is just discipline points and skills you can use on different vocations. Normal level ups give you stats *based on your vocation*.
If you want to commit autism you can go calculate your perfect build here:
http://stackoverflow.github.io/dragons-dogma-stat-planner/
Get Resistance from MA and Intervention from Mage and forget about all debilitations, get Bastion from Warrior and Awareness from Sorcerer and gain virtual 30-50 hp for every hp you have, get Sanctuary from MK and reduce all physical damage to 1 when you have 30% hp
I had no problem with prefect blocking, that was until the LB on my gamepad started acting funny. But I'd rather re-solder a replacement bumper than waste and augment slot.
Or upgrade the launch skills so that you can press a different button to jump off your pawn / pole vault into the air yourself. Pawns are too dumb to use those skills for platforming and its a damn shame.
Just choose what you like and stick with it.
You literally can do no wrong unless you decide you want to be an optimised mage after you spent your whole playtrough as a warrior.
If you don't commit to the autism everything is fine.
MA still have kisses, you can reasonably output enough damage to constantly stagger the enemy so they won't have the chance to shake you off. This is actually how I play my MA, the bow is for utility mostly and all the real work is still done with the daggers
I made my pawn a healer e-girl wearing silk lingerie and the iron chestplate, the last few people who sent her back gave her a low appearance rating. Does this mean they spent their time staring at my pawn's ass and hated how young I made her look, then gave her a low rating?
Anyone ever used the augment Fortune, that makes enemies drop more RC? Is it a considerable amount? Usually when I do all of BBI I get maybe a bit more than 200k rc.
On PC it runs at 60FPS if your system is halfway decent while I don't think they've got that on PS4 even. But it's still fun on PS4 and I imagine it's fun on Switch as well.
Plus you can install the mod that changes the menu music into Into Free, and I like being able to use VSR to get super high res screenshots.
My only issue with waiting until postgame to do BBI is that I dislike leaving the spooky dismal atmosphere of BBI to come to the radioactive fartscape that is post-dragon Gransys. Looks like there's been a blowout.
Yeah I miss the sun in post-game and there'sa BBI mission you literally can't go when the everfall is open so I think you're actually supposed to do it throughout the main game. It's my first run through BBI though so I left it until last. Also not finding it fun so it will probably stay at the bottom of the list.
>and there'sa BBI mission you literally can't go when the everfall is open so I think you're actually supposed to do it throughout the main game
Literally did not know that, thanks! Will be sure to enter BBI at some point BEFORE hitting up Greg.
Confession time: Dragon's Dogma is one of my favourite games but I've not yet beaten BBI - I will this run through though
the mission is the only one in the game that doesn't fail across ng cycles so they obviously expected people to take my route and come to this realization that it should be done early. I'm the same way though, played on the OG on PS3 and bought all DA releases since but I never bothered with BBI. Now that I have I can confidently say it's shit.
>so I think you're actually supposed to do it throughout the main game
I fricked up then. I'm going to assume how it works is pre-gazer is something like 30-40 with pre-dark bishop being something like 50-60 and daimon himself being 70-80? Maybe, but I could still see periapt spam.

I've just never been a fan of "hardcore" shit and genuinely enjoyed DD's basegame. BBI hardly feels like DD, it's like some fan mod. I will say though it has some of the best blending of ARPG and Horror. I just don't care much for horror so I get a couple spooks then get annoyed.

Fair enough. I kind of like when dungeons have a horror vibe to them which BBI did with the corpse monsters, but I don't like how the scaling goes off a cliff because it's seemingly covering 100 levels at least.

>BBI >Horror
What? I know it's gorey but you'd have to be a 8 yo to get spooked in BBI. Hopefully you're just confusing it with "oh shit" moments.

It's just more combat and less running around. Didn't feel that different than going into the catacombs for example.

BBI is SAW/Texas Chainsaw Massacre horror. Don't mistake me for pissing myself, I just recognize aesthetics. >It's just more combat and less running around. Didn't feel that different than going into the catacombs for example.
of course it did. the catacombs is just sppoky skeletons which makes sense since you're in a crypt with necromancers. BBI is just a giant haunted house level.

Good thing your pawn was there to hold your hand bro.

Why did you have to be a schizo? I am just genuinely wondering what kind of bad experience could cause you to think BBI sucks so much, like did you try doing it at a low level on hard mode as a warrior while whining the whole time? I just went into it and had fun in a dungeon and that was it.

I genuinely don't think it's spooky, not even the zombies mumbling. To me it's just cool I guess. There were "oh shit" moments in the first playthrough but it's not something spooky enough to bother me, like how I'd feel in an actual good horror game.
I think the only time I got spooked in DD was the first time it got dark and some zombies spawned on a road near gran soren. I thought nights would be filled with random horrors and shit, but then I realized it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought kek, then I wasn't spooked anymore

I absolutely adore BBI, i think its genuinely 10/10 and the only minor problem with it is that both the levels and the gear earned rapidly outscales the player for anything they would encounter in the main game.
>Confession time: Dragon's Dogma is one of my favourite games but I've not yet beaten BBI - I will this run through though
BBI is really good, and gives some insanely powerful gear. I beat daimon 1 in my first cycle, but i pussied out at daimon 2 so i reset the world and got another daimon one kill before moving on to try and kill daimon 2.
Also i sent fornival to jail in my first cycle which meant i didnt have many periapts to nuke the shit out of daimon.

periapts are pretty much mandatory if you want to farm him without stress
>so I think you're actually supposed to do it throughout the main game
I fricked up then. I'm going to assume how it works is pre-gazer is something like 30-40 with pre-dark bishop being something like 50-60 and daimon himself being 70-80? Maybe, but I could still see periapt spam.
>My only issue with waiting until postgame to do BBI
The only problem with that is that the everfall is a better spot to recover from BBI than all of pre-dragon gransys. A single trip down the everfall gives like a dozen wakestones. And the kill on the ur dragon gives 20 wakestones.
Hopefully DD2 will have dungeons like BBI and the everfall but also more things to do throughout the game.
>do BBI after killing Greg?
Yeah, i think its a level 40 dungeon anyway.
The everfall gives you level 1 BBI gear, decent experience. and an insane amount of consumables and wakestones (millions of them).
Also the ur dragon drops high level holy weapons.
Anonymous
>skipped everfall besides grabbing 3 pieces of armor >only acquired my wakestones through online urdragon sometimes going into grace >first BBI run was pretty rough
Good to know.
The only mod ive found that does this also changes Warriors entire moveset and buffs them way too much. I would kill for a simple 6 skill warrior mod but cannot find one on Nexus.
My pawn at 200 is absolutely fricking moronic. 500 hours on this game and I never considered using the augment that makes you stronger without your pawn but I think it is high time.
my pawn is pretty useless as I made it and then never used it. Its a level 5 named e-girl named Mako and is wearing the immortal helm. I dont expect any summons really
>picked up Dragon's Dogma again after 6 years >I was getting regular hires during my first playthrough, but only 14 during those years
I still have 6 millions of rift crystals. Is this a lot or should I shill my pawn? just started BBI in NG+ at lvl 142 and gonna grind for lvl 3 weapons again because I only have a longbow, daggers and an archstaff for my pawn and I still need a shortbow
>only level 3 weapons I'm missing now are the warrior ones, mace for mystic knight, and yellow vocation weapons >the mace doesn't even matter because I'm a contrarian who runs sword on mystic
>remember everyone always making mage pawns back in the ps3 version >decide to make a tank pawn instead, grab a mage pawn, and have a flex spot for whatever I find >find only fighters with the occasional mage and absolutely no striders, rangers, sorcerors, or warriors
frick
What kind of skill setup is good for a sorcerer leaning more towards support on BBI? I know mages are the dedicated support class, but I need my spell synchs
>start new game after 5 years >get drowned in RC immediately after resting at the inn >load old backup save to see wtf my pawn was doing >trophy jacket
Well that explains a lot. Deleted the save right after though. The thought of all those Arisens fondling my pawns Rotten Ambrosial Meats over the years was too much to bear.
BBI is some peak megadungeon shit. If you're enjoying DD for the adventure feel and running all over Gransys I get it, but if you enjoy the combat and your brain gets happy when number goes up BBI is the tightest shit
Is it even possible to have a full 3 star bestiary? After 3 playthroughs my pawns still have 2 stars stuff like Goblins while 3 stars on almost every BBI monster
Any tips for new players?
I just reached Gran Soren and can now fast travel. I got several fast travel stones and a single portable fast travel placer. I am currently trying to do the escort missions but the people die along the way so right now I am travelling there and setting a fast travel point beforehand, it feels kind of like i am cheating.
Also I dont know how to level up my buddies, I am constantly reviving Rook. Personally, every fight feels like i am looking for cheeses. Throwing oil, throwing blast bombs, throwing enemies off cliffs, running away and ambushing them with rocks and barrels, etc
>I am currently trying to do the escort missions but the people die along the way so right now I am travelling there and setting a fast travel point beforehand, it feels kind of like i am cheating.
it's not cheating if you can't do it legitimately but they are aids to walk. no shame. >Also I dont know how to level up my buddies, I am constantly reviving Rook.
based but you're not supposed to keep them. you're supposed to cycle them. >Personally, every fight feels like i am looking for cheeses. Throwing oil, throwing blast bombs, throwing enemies off cliffs, running away and ambushing them with rocks and barrels, etc
you need to upgrade your gear but those tactics are part of the charm.
Hire a new pawn anon yeet rook He's literally just a introduction pawn
drop rook and get someone else's pawn
Assuming you aren't shitposting, you shouldn't still have Rook. Go to a rift stone and let him go. Get a higher level pawn.
Rook is the best pawn in the game. Don't drop him.
>Throwing oil, throwing blast bombs, throwing enemies off cliffs, running away and ambushing them with rocks and barrels, etc
Man I wish the game was hard enough to force me to do this stuff more often.
You can't level up pawns other than your main pawn. Chuck rook into the nearest body of water and get a better pawn at the rift.
i didn't know you were supposed to cycle pawns in and out. I thought based on the dev interview, you develop certain personal bonds with your pawns and treat them like friends.
I wasn't in the rift before, I got Rook and my personal Pawn right now. I'll see what I can do. I'll miss Rook.
Here is a screenshot of me actually getting gud and reaching Gran Soren for the first time
>I thought based on the dev interview, you develop certain personal bonds with your pawns and treat them like friends.
Yes, but only with your main pawn. Your main pawn is the good one and the rest of the pawns are cannonfodder or pack mules.
Minor spoilers but during the end credits it shows the pawns you spent the most time with. Chances are you'll stick with some of them for a while even if they're several levels below you if they can still keep up, just because it's kind of a hassle to pick out new ones (or you get attached to them)
>Throwing oil, throwing blast bombs, throwing enemies off cliffs, running away and ambushing them with rocks and barrels, etc

Keep that portcrystal on you and place it on adventures when you want to restock or learn skills and stuff, then port back to it and pick it back up. Really good way to circumvent the unfriendly travel (though making long expeditions away from the city then travelling back is intended and very fun imo)
Make sure to upgrade (by both replacing and enhancing) your equipment as much and as often as you can afford, as gear plays the biggest role in determining how much damage you'll do to enemies and will alleviate the cheese problem
Rook is a Pawn and the only pawn that will level with you is the main pawn you created. Hit up a riftstone and find two other pawns around your level, and keep cycling them in and out as you outgrow them and they begin to burden you (Like Rook always dying is doing right now)
Ignore the escort missions for the most part, they're kind of cancer.
There's a certain appeal to fighting with guerilla tactics like you're doing right now but it shouldn't be your main go-to unless you're really struggling. Throwing oil and then throwblasts or using fire is a great combination but you should just be able to hit goblins
Thank you for the advices.
The portcrystal "trick" is something I realized while I was doing the "pre-set fast travel for escort missions" cheese. I wish i got more of those portcrystals so I can actually use them as intended instead of quick-back-teleport cheese.
All my gear is from shops and I've never found anything worthwhile to loot in chests or from enemies so far. I am sure I can also upgrade my gear with materials but I think I haven't unlocked that feature yet. The guerilla tactics I employ against larger mobs like cyclops or ogres. The bandits or goblins I take out normally (although I still sometimes die to them)
>just started playing last week >decide to try one of the escort quest to see if they're worth doing >it was that one
I managed to savescum my way to victory but for the entire second half of the journey I was sorely tempted to just throw that c**t off a cliff and go do something else.
I only even attempt them with my chosen waifu at this point since you gain affinity on the road (and I'm a storygay) for the rest I just teleport. no harm no foul. still doing them all once on foot is quite the adventure.
I started playing this game twice, got about 10 hours each time, I liked it, but I kinda lost interest. I bought on sale and am gonna try playing it again.
It's pretty awful that you can just frick yourself mostly out of it. Grab a Succubus the first time you go through, and if that fails:
Magic Archer -> Frigor (or the ledge corner nearby), jump, double jump, sunburst, instant reset, sunburst should get you up there.
>pawn dies 3 times to same foe >kill it >"theres no way we could have lost to that"
Bruh
REMINDER TO ALL ANONS TO SIT YOUR PAWN DOWN IN THE CHAIR AT AN INN AND GIVE THEM SOME PERSONALITY
Thank you for the advices.

You will eventually collect a few more from specific locations, and they do unlock in a shop in NG+ (expensive though). If you're at Gran Soren you can enhance your equipment, talk to Caxton the armorer next to the inn (they're masterworks all, you can't go wrong). Ogres are pretty durable for your level, Cyclops you've got to hit the eye and if you can't reach it, get it to fall first.
>Every piece of equipment shows via highlight what classes can equip it
where does it show it? there was no text or explanation at all, just the "equip" text was black on my screen.
what do i do with equipment that neither me nor my pawn can use? can i give it to other characters that i might play later?
Oh you might be looking in the quick menu. Press start and open the equipment menu and look in the bottom right. Or check the weapon description/stats and it shows you a list.
Hang onto equipment in case you want to switch your class to something that can use it. Assassin gets a really good climbing sword attack and plays a lot like Strider
[...]
what am i supposed to do with equipment that neither i nor my pawn can use?

Unfortunately there's only one save file but you can get around that on PC. Seriously though don't be afraid to experiment with different classes, you can hop between all the physical classes without much issue to try them all out
>where does it show it?
picrel >what do i do with equipment that neither me nor my pawn can use? can i give it to other characters that i might play later?
You might or might not want to change your or your pawn's vocation later.
using symbols instead of text is counter productive bad, i thought the symbols where moves not classes
but thanks for the advice.
so there is no way to give items from one playthrough to another right? because i am not liking strider so much and think about restarting as warrior
You don't need to restart. Go to the inn in Gran Soren and switch to Warrior. Bam, you're a Warrior. Don't worry about "muh stats" like you may or may not have seen in this thread
It's just a random screenshot from google, actually it's not a screenshot even, it is a youtube thumbnail.
if you start a new game from the main menu you start from zero. you can change your vocation soon for discipline points, just have to reach the main city with the main quest.
The same symbols that always accompany your class name and are color coded based on the physical/magical damage tutorial from when you first get your pawns? The system is fine, you are just a goofball.
how the frick do you deal with armored cyclops?
My pawns make out like you can knock off the helmet but I've tried so I just fall back on antler tossing him up the taint till he dies.
lighting their head on fire makes them take their helmet off as well, and warrior charge attacks will literally strip the armor off their legs and arms while knocking them down.
Use powerful attacks to blow apart the armor. This includes throwblast, barrels, and many skills. Surprisingly, Tenfold Shot works almost better than Arc of Deliverance for tearing armor apart.
how the frick do you deal with armored cyclops?

Climb up on their backs--they'll either attempt to grab at you (jump away) and pull their helmet off themselves, or you can try attacking the strap that keeps it in but I don't know if that actually works

Other pawns are meant to be quick hires you swap out to fit situations or for variety. If you give them any equipment it gets lost and given as a gift.
Don't worry anon. Dragon's Dogma is one of those games that you can still appreciate even if it's been "spoiled" because of the good buildup that happens throughout the game and how it pays off.

yes and no. don't fall for the enb meme either.
>reload the checkpoint specifically but yeah.
Ok bear with me for being a bit of a moron but this confuses me, does it work or not?
Anonymous
in my personal experience it doesn't work and that seems to be the general consensus online, maybe the other guy has some secret tech under his belt but I'd ask for proof. Just try yourself
2 years ago
Anonymous
listen man, you've got one guy saying it doesn't work and one saying it does. in either case you will waste less time testing it yourself then hauling ass through BBI again.

Pretty sure BBI purifications are all pre-determined by some seed in your save file. You can change the results by changing vocations but you are always going to get the same results with the same vocations if that makes sense.

Anonymous
Ok so i do the following >save at the riftstone >beat daimon >get the chest >go see oira and purify it >if the result is not what i want i reload my save
Is that correct?

reload the checkpoint specifically but yeah.
never played it. is it actually good? any mandatory mods?
>finally go to BBI >both the pawns I've hired are learning all about the new enemies >my pawn doesn't chime in when the others have learned something
knowing my pawn was good enough to take to at least the first part of this absolute fricking hellhole and not get sent brined is a point of pride for me, especially at fricking level 45 or something where I've been chilling for like 5 years
>that one room with a drake and red farts >think "Whatever, I'll just focus on the drake" >he does his wipe roar >gay red ghosts instantly rift 2 pawns
Learning the hard way
I'm pretty sure what's happening is a misunderstanding between acquiring a cursed item and actually purifying it
ACQUIRING a cursed item is a loot drop just like any other chest. If you save, open a chest, get something you don't want, then have a nice day and reload (Godsbane is great for this), you can re-open the chest and roll something different. A checkpoint save behind Daimon will function like this.
Purifying an item works on a seeded cycle that you're basically unable to manipulate. Purify a level 3 item and if it's not what you want for your class, you're fricked. The only thing you can change is that it will be a different item (and always that item) for a DIFFERENT class. It's determined by vocation color of you and your pawn, and this includes hybrid vocations.
If you want a sword, make you and your main pawn red, then purify. But if the cursed item you got doesn't purify to what you want, that's it. You need another one. But if you switch yourself and your pawn to yellow, you could get the right level 3 bow you want for your pawn instead. Or it could still be garbage.
Addendum that there's no need to refight Daimon for cursed item acquisition gambling: look up the chests you can get level 3 weapons from on the wiki and godsbane for them instead, it's much faster
My only question is why would the devs subject us to this gacha hell. My pawn has seen me suicide so many times she doesn't even comment anymore, just stands there like not this shit again
You only bring it on yourself. The weapons you can buy after clearing the quests are enough to beat everything in the game, everything else is just extra.
Stick to red-only vocations while you purify. If you want yellow weapons be on yellow vocations. Your post makes it sound like you're purifying only on mage/sorc and complaining that's it giving you staves which would be the whole idea, so I really hope that's not the case
Nope. I was purifying mystic knight/red pawn for a while. Those are the weapons I don't have because I haven't dipped into yellow, but I will when I start purifying for them. I was happy enough when it popped the regular staff since now I don't have to care about blue vocations.
you can look those up buy good look filling up your chikage slots with perfect OOS gems in less than a week. It took almost a month to get 3 23.6% nourishing for hms
I'm pretty sure the game tells you this the moment you create your character, your moniker is only used when someone enabled parental controls and shit.
how exactly does this work? what prevents someone from using the same censored name as the moniker? I did exactly that without a second thought years ago, but it's just a basic girl name. people posting monikers in pawn threads made me wonder what's that all about.
I'm pretty sure the game tells you this the moment you create your character, your moniker is only used when someone enabled parental controls and shit.
Bows and staves are probably better than daggers. All the multi shot shit, and the volley skills apply the ailments almost instantly and stacking slow, poison and petrification/curse/sleep in a huge cloud is nasty as frick. Spamming rusted sleep spells shuts down way more monsters than it has any right to and then it is just a pawn dog pile.
No it's fine, the amount of pawns that are both good and also have retained regular Anodyne is very small, so High Anodyne is a very easy and common concession to make so much that I don't think most people think about it
Sit your pawn down and talk to them, and you can change up their personality. Different ones say / do different shit in a bunch of different situations. I assume most just use inclination potions and forget about the actual pawn personally and just stick to the default.
wait WHAT THE FRICK. I was joking about the dab obviously but after i killed a mimic the pawn literally kneeled WHAT THE FRICK. I thought she was grabbing something.
>Brine response >Arrogant >Sure you've made a mistake or three
Fricking incredible
[...]
Eternal return, anon
You can either farm for BBI level 3 weapons, do another playthrough, or god forbid put the game down
So no credits, no cutscene, no anything? Even that girl and mustache guy refuse to say anything about it, he just fell dead and thats all, this is bullshit
what causes previously hired pawns to be listed with greyed out names in the rift, not being available for hire? the owners started a new game, "corrupted pawn data", or what?
Asking because I've never considered it. Does having a single lantern on affect if enemies will be aware of you easier? I haven't thought about it other than knowing Death will hyperfocus as soon as he sees a lantern.
>goldforged stamina hammer
>1000 strength less than 1 star bbi longsowrd
at least my moronic pawn has an actual function
I always check what weapons pawns use even if its gold forged. I get that some players think their being helpful putting end game weapons on low level pawns but if they use any ability it instantly drains their little stamina. sometimes those late game weapons are more of a pain than a help early game
wait what does stamina usage have to do with the weapon tier. The same moves cost the same stamina regardless of the weapon
He was talking about how weapons do have a level requirement. By around 50 you can use any weapon in the game without a stamina penalty, but before then it cost stamina to swing. I haven't run into it myself so I don't know how severe it is.
ahh I see ok.
A dozen hours back in and I remember why, despite the great combat and satisfying pawn system, I have not touched it in years. I hope they fix some shit for the sequel. Maybe hire some writers, talented map designers and quest designers.
literally all the first game was lacking during development as time.
hmm, needs brine correction.
post level, name, moniker and platform
>Level 20
>Llirianne
>Lillian
>Steam
Why brine pawns though?
They are gentle beings, teach them to be good
Probably a shazamgay
i dont know why i do what i do, all i know is that i must
So that's why it's called Warrior's Departure...
FLYING INTO FREEEEE
>how'd you get those bruises young lady, is there something we should know
>t-the WIND IS PUSHING MEEEE
if your pawn wears a princess dress it deserves to get brined
I took off t he Queen's clothes despite losing a lot of resists because i cant stand how boring it is.
She doesn't wear that shit.
She got the regen magic robe from bbi.
Look at the OP pic
that anon asked why brine pawns
>princess dress
>aquisitor inclination
>guardian inclination
all these are reasons to brine pawns
Ah
This. I recruit every pawn I see that has any of the DLC outfits. If you're wearing the queen's robes, nun attire, or the blonde guy knight's garb, you deserve brining. Absolutely fricking lazy, put more effort in, I respect coomer pawns more than yours.
Stop brining pawns you c**ts, you give the default 3 star rating every time you do that shit.
deserved
Wait till you run into a homosexual that hires pawns only to give them 1 star and send back
i will never stop brining princess pawns
you deserve it for giving your pawn that awful looking dress
>A dozen hours back in and I remember why, despite the great combat and satisfying pawn system, I have not touched it in years
Yeah, though i did like coming back in my second cycle and getting all that main game shit that i didnt get before, doing those main game quests, and getting dragon tears and wyrmking rings ect, killing the ur dragon and farming a billiion wakestones was all really fun. Maybe i was too harsh on the main game, though i did farm a few more runs on BBI.
Is there a way to change tendency at the beginning of the game?
change to hard mode
Should I change challenger to scather for the sorc?
scather/pioneer then change to utilitarian when you gain some bestiary knowledge
Vros why is no one using my pawn? Does nobody likes hunter pawns?
Post her
I'm phone posting so no, but she's lvl 30, has the shitty starter longbow since i can't find another one; those curved daggers that look like a crescent moon; and i tried to make her look like Meryl from mgs
How do you kill any dragon fast without periapts as MA?
Why would you need periapts when you have magic imbalancer
With magic imbalancer then. I only have sixfold because rngesus hates me and it feels like I'm not doing much even with a goldforge lv3 weapon. When climbing it also takes a bit and it also awful to climb on a dragon trying to get to the heart. Is there any trick for that too?
If you're tall enough you can just walk under a dragon and press grab
The downsides of playing e-girlrisen. If only my pawn wasn't shit she could do it.
Ninefolt Bolt on their hearts always works if I'm not mistaken. Haven't played it in years though.
The Everfall ogre is probably the only surprise like that, maybe the first wiener encounter also, but by that point you will be very strong
Wait the wiener was supposed to be strong? I was upset that the little shit flew away before I could kill it, but we were kicking it's ass pretty bad
>you can try to throw him out of the ledge
I've beaten the game like 5 times so far and every time he just randomly jumps off the ledge. Even watched a friend play the game recently, fricker just jumped off, too.
Do you actually have to do something to make him kill himself? I always just assumed it's scripted.
Big enemies sometimes just arbitrarily decide to end it all, saw a cyclops on the way to feminist fortress just straight up jump from the mountain
>go do lure of the abyss
>ogre charges head first into the everfall hole as soon as I tap him with my sword
ok
I don't think it's scripted. I've only had him jump twice in a similar number of playthroughs. Although, the very first time I fought him I was climbing him and he leapt off, taking me all the way to the bottom without fall damage.
>bbi bridge area on the way to black abbey
>random elder ogre spawns
>grabs me and jumps from the bridge
nice one b***ht8x8n
A small night storm blows
Saying 'falling is the essence of a flower'
Preceding those who hesitate
>fighting the zombies
>not grabbing them and yeeting them off the cliff for instant kill and teaching your pawn to be a grappler
Undead are insta-killed by holy and fire damage, and the ogre will kill himself reliably if you make him reel
I wondered why he just walked off the ledge largely of his own volition. I had intended to kill him "legitimately" (spamming Arc of Deliverance while my pawns got brutalized).
AAAAA
I'm not gonna stand idle now i've been asking for pawns I need sorc and ranger pawn post it here now
I mean, if you need a lvl 20 sorc
Sorry bro I need 40+ pawns
Also my pawn please hire her
no one hires my pawn
Post it here
I will if I can afford it. Post.
>tfw my beloved cool pawn gets hired for the first time
>get 200 RC and 1/1/2 rating
times are hard indeed...
Is this the Pawnbroker thread?
Mine is pretty good at killing things, but still needs a little monster knowledge. Just killed BBI2 daimon with her and was surprised that they don't give any pawn knowledge or anything. Also got like 8 copies of that stupid lvl3 MA bow but never seen the lvl3 shortbow before. I really wish you could trade BBI gear :'(
Frick she probably costs like 2 mil rc to recruit at lvl 20.
add him to friends. Steam friends make the pawn free, I got added once by a syrian dude that wanted my e-girl for free
BBI lvl3 weapons and armor are annoying to get, but the skill rings are MUCH worse
>skill rings
Man I spent days mugging the gore cyclops in BBI 1.0 until I had a sizeable amount of Gear lvl 3 to get all the rings I would ever want.
Strong pawn would recommended rarely climb too. Gonna clear every bbi room with her.
https://streamable.com/z31tf1 jump poking gorecyclop's eye like a boss

????
Oh shit, that looks like a really strong pawn, and i can recruit her without spending any RC.
Someone rated my pawn 5 stars today and gifted a wake stone shard
post your pawn.
I generally gift full wakestones, or rare curatives
I'm the OP.
Her personal info:
aight cool. I'll see if I can find her.
Is he a level 55 Fighter?
I'm op. She's a lvl 20 sorc
I'll hire her for a bit, though I am quite low level myself
yesterday I hired a pawn from here and gifted her silk panties and a godsbane blade
Still, I never teach my pawns to play their vocation and just roll out like that, so I guess she wouldn't be good pawns.
i play on the xone. post your pawn
It's her inclinations most likely, elixirs will somewhat fix it
Woah maybe check her spells or something? I'm sure other anons will help you about this
There's a brainwasher dude that sells tendency changeling elixirs for rc at the 1st encampment where you fought hydra. But you have to be in postgame and it only affects your main pawn
He sells them right after hydra, thank god for that
Oh shi, really? Wtf never found him
Gonna try that. Thanks
Anons hired my guy and gifted bbi cursed items, feels good man. Also, turns out there's a bug with grand brontide - if your pawn has it they will NEVER cast it.
Holy shit it's otacon
Damn, now that you mention it
me on the right
>brontide
You sure? Maybe it's just your pawn cancelling it by jumping around like a moron
I read it on wiki and confirmed it in-game, he casts levin on cyclops every time since he's utilitarian and he does cast brontide and high brontide on them if it's the only thunder spell available but if I only leave him with grand brontide and nothing else he will still not cast it.
well thanks, I'm gonna stop putting it on my pawn.
>EREEEEEEEEEEEN!!!!
My sorcerer pawn is always cranking her lightning whip on cyclopes.
Any ps4 bros please, she needs a job. Utilitarian/challenger and uses brain splitter fairly well.
Ps4? oh shit nice. If I hop on after work I'll give your pawn a summon.
Erin
PlayStation
Strider
Found her. Upgrade your pawn's gear man. Still gonna hire for a while though
Thanks,will do
I hired your pawn, OP. added you through steam too if you wann hire my high level warrior to stomp shit for you for free.
Also gave her a new wizard stick.
Oh shi, will do as I get back to pc. Your high level pawn will be extremely helpful in diminishing my exp gains so I can easily level vocations and not worry about sub-optimal levelups.
Thank you btw
no worries yo. It's always handy having access to high level pawns for the reason you mentioned, or if you just wanna farm something.
Hired her. Will run with her for a while.
I still remember getting chills when I fought my own character and pawn, It felt deep tbh.
I've maxed out the mysic khomie vocation. Should I level fighter now or something? It will grant me bonus stats, right?
Vocation levels and normal levels are different.
Vocation is just discipline points and skills you can use on different vocations. Normal level ups give you stats *based on your vocation*.
If you want to commit autism you can go calculate your perfect build here:
http://stackoverflow.github.io/dragons-dogma-stat-planner/
Huh, thanks. Would you happen to know if there's a meta augment list for each class?
Sadly no. But I'm doing 10 fighter/25 warrior/65 ranger/100 sorcerer JUST to have optimal stats for a mystic knight.
Saved for future reference, thanks.
If you don't already have it, the prescience augment makes perfect blocking way easier.
I had no problem with prefect blocking, that was until the LB on my gamepad started acting funny. But I'd rather re-solder a replacement bumper than waste and augment slot.
>game calls magic Magick
>doesn't call strength Strenckt.
Why even bother?
You mean Strenghckt
>try world difficulty mod
>All npcs get insta gibbed
I failed the shadow fort quest because the captain died instantly to goblins.
What books give the same kind of D&D party adventure feeling that Dragons Dogma does?
Dragonlance
Switched her to Sorcerer recently so she's not uber, but I could use some RC.
Forgot to mention: she's on Steam. Moniker is Syren.
I can't decide on a vocation help
I always end up as Magick Archer for versatility and double jump.
God I would fricking kill to have double jump or at least something for warrior and fighter.
They really should have given all the classes double jump, and just changed the animations to suit their style
Does Adhesion and Opportunism make for a good combo? I feel like it should.
Adhesion is a waste of a slot in my opinion, but opportunism is really nice
It's not that the wiener itself is strong, more like petrification is the strongest debilitation in the game
How so. Probably useful for any character that likes to climb that isn't strider. Which is what i do as MA.
I give one stars to any incel pawn
No, they are just homosexuals, like this
guy
Instead of getting mad you should spend your time creating good pawns like giant beefy half naked bara warriors.
>giant beefy half naked amazonian warriors.
Here, fixed this for you, you tremendous boy-molesting fruit.
I'd hardly call them "boys"
They are probably brown amazonian tomboy enjoyers but still need a healer
My prude shortstack mage has gotten only five-stars so far.
No matter how shit and ugly I gave them all 5 stars
I've heard people say skull splitter negates fall damage. Is that true? Because it certainly never worked for me.
Have to do it from the ground. If you jump first it doesn't work.
You can sprint towards and ledge and use it, the small hop from splitter will send you over the edge. Jumping and using it won't work.
What is the best class that isn't Magick Archer? I'm sick of it, but no other class is doing any damage to bosses in BBI.
mage 10/ full sorc
holy staff charged light attack spam
Assassin is the best class, if you amass an arsenal of magic weapons literally nothing will make you sweat
I feel like periapt holy focused bolt is way stronger than anything MA does but that also gets boring quickly.
Strider is the best vocation.
Anyone ever used the augment Fortune, that makes enemies drop more RC? Is it a considerable amount? Usually when I do all of BBI I get maybe a bit more than 200k rc.
Give me one reason to play this on PC
No, I don't think I will. Feel free to use PS4 or Switch
dinput8.dll hooks
So that you can hire my pawn.
can they go on a crusade?
I don't have any pics because I'm phone posting but he is dressed sort of knight-like. He's a lvl 29 warrior named Felix.
Sucks that pawns can't be hybrid, would love to have a paladin pawn
>Magic Knight Holy spec
Nude mods. The only reason to bother with ang game on PC. If you don't care about that, don't bother.
On PC it runs at 60FPS if your system is halfway decent while I don't think they've got that on PS4 even. But it's still fun on PS4 and I imagine it's fun on Switch as well.
Plus you can install the mod that changes the menu music into Into Free, and I like being able to use VSR to get super high res screenshots.
it's fun
Now that I have I can confidently say it's shit.
a gold and silver down where you meet that first ogre in the basement.
>Now that I have I can confidently say it's shit.
It's a clusterfrick gameplay wise. I gravitate between hating and loving it.
>BBI
>Horror
What? I know it's gorey but you'd have to be a 8 yo to get spooked in BBI. Hopefully you're just confusing it with "oh shit" moments.
>BBI hardly feels like DD
It's just more combat and less running around. Didn't feel that different than going into the catacombs for example.
>What? I know it's gorey but you'd have to be a 8 yo to get spooked in BBI.
>Don't mistake me for pissing myself
>"so I get a couple spooks"
Good thing your pawn was there to hold your hand bro.
>giant haunted house level.
I guess, but you're overblowing it way too much. it's a dungeon with more fun combat.
>it's the seething sperg again
BBI sucks and you are less than a loser. Simple as.
>BBI sucks
Filtered
nah
>muh v2
I'll get that picture too but v1 is all that really matters. stories over. v2 exposition says nothing of note.
>I'll get that picture too but *cope rambling*
filtered
one more to soothe your mindless seethe
We all have opinions but going on a rant that BBI is not DD because it's hard and moody just makes you seem like a coping moron who got filtered by an elder ogre sodomizing your ass.
Filtered.
okay one more I guess
>v2 exposition says nothing of note
Dragon daimon literally turns into a pawn and falls into the rift. How are you not seeing this?
Why did you have to be a schizo? I am just genuinely wondering what kind of bad experience could cause you to think BBI sucks so much, like did you try doing it at a low level on hard mode as a warrior while whining the whole time? I just went into it and had fun in a dungeon and that was it.
lmao I'm the schizo? you hop on my nuts every time I saw I don't like BBI bro. it's you sperging out, not me.
did you look at any of the environments? especially areas like the midnight helix, that shit is horrible in a good way
necrophage spawns are spooky too don’t lie
I genuinely don't think it's spooky, not even the zombies mumbling. To me it's just cool I guess. There were "oh shit" moments in the first playthrough but it's not something spooky enough to bother me, like how I'd feel in an actual good horror game.
I think the only time I got spooked in DD was the first time it got dark and some zombies spawned on a road near gran soren. I thought nights would be filled with random horrors and shit, but then I realized it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought kek, then I wasn't spooked anymore
>Going through devilfire Grove the first time
>It's starting to get pretty dark
>See something huge move in the trees
Game has its moments
Indeed, nights are pretty cool still, but I was expecting it to be more like berserk when the brand of sacrifice starts bleeding, and you'd just have to gtfo asap
Come on, that area before death's house is spooky.
>death's house
it has a house?
The forgotten Hall and the bloodless stockade I think are the areas in question and I do agree they're some of the more clenched areas in the island
Didn't do much for me honestly. I guess it has to do with the fact that it's the same levels still.
So you mean, do BBI after killing Greg?
>do BBI after killing Greg?
Yeah, i think its a level 40 dungeon anyway.
The everfall gives you level 1 BBI gear, decent experience. and an insane amount of consumables and wakestones (millions of them).
Also the ur dragon drops high level holy weapons.
>skipped everfall besides grabbing 3 pieces of armor
>only acquired my wakestones through online urdragon sometimes going into grace
>first BBI run was pretty rough
Good to know.
If you play Warrior you can give it an overhaul mod that also gives 6 skills by emulating an invisible shield.
The only mod ive found that does this also changes Warriors entire moveset and buffs them way too much. I would kill for a simple 6 skill warrior mod but cannot find one on Nexus.
what's the ur dragon status on ps4
4.3
>pawn with princess dress
>pawn with Julien armor
Took your pawn on a ride to BBI, she kept getting knocked out by Eliminators lol
I hope that will teach her to dodge better!
How do I stop my character from having super pronounced cheekbones, and a square jawline?
Try different facetypes?
My pawn at 200 is absolutely fricking moronic. 500 hours on this game and I never considered using the augment that makes you stronger without your pawn but I think it is high time.
So can you just not i-frame Daimon's grab? I know for sure I timed all my hindsight slashes well but got grabbed anyway.
You can pick up and hold rabbits in this game
can crush them with rocks too
>love seabirds, rabbits and boars
>notice board quest to kill like 50 rabbits
O-okay...
I do a rabbit genocide to level up vocations and not level my character
>pick up a rabbit
>cute
>try to release it
>accidentally double press the grab button
>yeet the rabbit
>it dies
>sad
for me it's giant spiders
You can pick up and throw pigs at your pawns
They throw them back
My pawn is trained to skullsplitter goblins I throw at her
BOARBALLCHADS WW@?
>Pawn has a busted face
I just don't know how to fix it
She cute
Damn. I'd love to summon the pawns in this thread on PS4 but I rolled a fresh save and am still level 30ish. every pawn in this thread is like 100+
post your pawn I’m on ps4 looking for someone to bring along in bbi
my pawn is pretty useless as I made it and then never used it. Its a level 5 named e-girl named Mako and is wearing the immortal helm. I dont expect any summons really
I got like 4 Pawns, all 120+
There I think I fixed her face
A-tier resting b***h face
Would hire
Give me a sorcerer pawn.
Anything goes but someone with (high) fulmination is better
arietty, level 9 mage pc
use her pls
Wow she's cute, good job
>picked up Dragon's Dogma again after 6 years
>I was getting regular hires during my first playthrough, but only 14 during those years
I still have 6 millions of rift crystals. Is this a lot or should I shill my pawn? just started BBI in NG+ at lvl 142 and gonna grind for lvl 3 weapons again because I only have a longbow, daggers and an archstaff for my pawn and I still need a shortbow
It's an old game anon.
The recent hype may give you more hires.
I suspect that after a certain point of absence your pawns stop appearing regularly.
Made for gobbin'.
I cant remember why I stopped playing
Because it's not much content and you eventually do everything the game has to offer and get bored?
>that background handwave
I want her to cast spells on me
Cute!
just need to get the fricking lv3 bow for my pawn and then I can start hiring and gifting lv3 bbi shit
please fake rng
Don't do it anon you have so much to live for
please
she'll do anything for rift crystals
xbox
i will use her
she isn't here
sleep in the inn and post her lvl
alright, still lvl 37
should be there now
It's time to kill Daimon
nice, thanks
feel free to use and abuse
>Want to shill my pawn cause she's actually very competent as a Fighter
>Refuse to make her equipment correct for her class
That modded feel
I WANT THE FRICKING LONGBOW WHAT IS THIS SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
I have now got five black wing bows.
>only level 3 weapons I'm missing now are the warrior ones, mace for mystic knight, and yellow vocation weapons
>the mace doesn't even matter because I'm a contrarian who runs sword on mystic
So only Ranger can kill death in one go?
<3 thanks for hiring her!
She's in the back doing her things
is there any point to minmaxing your stats? could i feasibly just play wathever i want and still do endgame content?
>is there any point to minmaxing your stats?
Autistic fun
>could i feasibly just play wathever i want and still do endgame content?
Absolutely
You should go to bbi when alodus sends you to the waycastle and kill daimon 1, return for second run right after dragon
for me low level BBI is peak fun, I go there soon as I defeat the first hydra
It's actually reasonable on hardmode, you get strong extremely fast this way, but it also trivialises pre-dragon gransys imo
Where the leaks with the mask and the single starting vocation debunked or confirmed?
>remember everyone always making mage pawns back in the ps3 version
>decide to make a tank pawn instead, grab a mage pawn, and have a flex spot for whatever I find
>find only fighters with the occasional mage and absolutely no striders, rangers, sorcerors, or warriors
frick
What kind of skill setup is good for a sorcerer leaning more towards support on BBI? I know mages are the dedicated support class, but I need my spell synchs
Voidspell is not worth it
>start new game after 5 years
>get drowned in RC immediately after resting at the inn
>load old backup save to see wtf my pawn was doing
>trophy jacket
Well that explains a lot. Deleted the save right after though. The thought of all those Arisens fondling my pawns Rotten Ambrosial Meats over the years was too much to bear.
>tfw your pawn returns with 2 4 4 stars from 2 reviewers.
I suppose being useful is better than being attractive.
BBI is some peak megadungeon shit. If you're enjoying DD for the adventure feel and running all over Gransys I get it, but if you enjoy the combat and your brain gets happy when number goes up BBI is the tightest shit
dragons dogma
dick arisen
Is it even possible to have a full 3 star bestiary? After 3 playthroughs my pawns still have 2 stars stuff like Goblins while 3 stars on almost every BBI monster
I did two daimon runs with suasion instead of clout because I forgot to swap it back after selling my shit.
Throwing oil, throwing blast bombs, throwing enemies off cliffs, running away and ambushing them with rocks and barrels, etc
you need to upgrade your gear but those tactics are part of the charm.
i didn't know you were supposed to cycle pawns in and out.
>I'll miss Rook.
we all do, brother.
>I'll miss Rook
I always favorite him.
>I'll miss Rook
Just make your own
https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Rook
>Just make your own
Sliders are kinda wrong on that page
Minor spoilers but during the end credits it shows the pawns you spent the most time with. Chances are you'll stick with some of them for a while even if they're several levels below you if they can still keep up, just because it's kind of a hassle to pick out new ones (or you get attached to them)
Hire a new pawn anon yeet rook He's literally just a introduction pawn
drop rook and get someone else's pawn
Assuming you aren't shitposting, you shouldn't still have Rook. Go to a rift stone and let him go. Get a higher level pawn.
Rook is the best pawn in the game. Don't drop him.
Oops, I brined him
Very funny. Now summon _me again.
Which one is your rook?
>Throwing oil, throwing blast bombs, throwing enemies off cliffs, running away and ambushing them with rocks and barrels, etc
Man I wish the game was hard enough to force me to do this stuff more often.
You can't level up pawns other than your main pawn. Chuck rook into the nearest body of water and get a better pawn at the rift.
The bandits or goblins I take out normally (although I still sometimes die to them)
>cheese
you keep saying that but this world is hell for these people. you can be manly or you can be smart but either is valid.
never had a playthrough where i could keep that stupid frick alive
I always put down my first port crystal at the shadow fort.
>just started playing last week
>decide to try one of the escort quest to see if they're worth doing
>it was that one
I managed to savescum my way to victory but for the entire second half of the journey I was sorely tempted to just throw that c**t off a cliff and go do something else.
I only even attempt them with my chosen waifu at this point since you gain affinity on the road (and I'm a storygay) for the rest I just teleport. no harm no foul. still doing them all once on foot is quite the adventure.
Why do all the lv200 that appear for me have shit as frick armor and not even a single forged piece of it or weapon?
Should I make the pawn that is pioneer and a acquisitor?
I hear it's fun a combo. Anyone tried it out?
Give me your lvl 50-55 pawns on PC
so glad there is a mod to get rid of stamina and carry weight. game is shocking without it
you not only didn't beat the game, you didn't even play the game.
I started playing this game twice, got about 10 hours each time, I liked it, but I kinda lost interest. I bought on sale and am gonna try playing it again.
Care to share some tips for a fun start?
If victory is elusive, seek new allies. Where that fails, seek new foes.
Wolves hunt in packs.
Strength in numbers
Don't listen to that gay
- even in numbers a weakling is weakling still!
That's it. I'm getting me horn
how to avoid making the game feel like it's enemies are bullet sponges
Upgrade your weapons
Get new weapons
Exploit elemental weaknesses
Buy damaging items (throwblasts etc)
>that one macabre statue that is hard as frick to get
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?
>WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?
somewhere between "frick you" and "lol u thought :^)"
It's pretty awful that you can just frick yourself mostly out of it. Grab a Succubus the first time you go through, and if that fails:
Magic Archer -> Frigor (or the ledge corner nearby), jump, double jump, sunburst, instant reset, sunburst should get you up there.
REMINDER TO ALL ANONS TO SIT YOUR PAWN DOWN IN THE CHAIR AT AN INN AND GIVE THEM SOME PERSONALITY
You will eventually collect a few more from specific locations, and they do unlock in a shop in NG+ (expensive though). If you're at Gran Soren you can enhance your equipment, talk to Caxton the armorer next to the inn (they're masterworks all, you can't go wrong). Ogres are pretty durable for your level, Cyclops you've got to hit the eye and if you can't reach it, get it to fall first.
>pawn dies 3 times to same foe
>kill it
>"theres no way we could have lost to that"
Bruh
>low level pawns at daimon
>they just barely survive somehow
>say this line or some other wienery line
I like it.
>"What else did you expect with MY help?"
I play strider, I found a sword that is always on fire but I can't equip it. the game gives zero explanation for why
Striders can't use swords, only fighters, Mystic Knights, and Assassins can
Every piece of equipment shows via highlight what classes can equip it
>Every piece of equipment shows via highlight what classes can equip it
where does it show it? there was no text or explanation at all, just the "equip" text was black on my screen.
what do i do with equipment that neither me nor my pawn can use? can i give it to other characters that i might play later?
put it in your storage in case you want to change your vocation later. you can also just sell it
Oh you might be looking in the quick menu. Press start and open the equipment menu and look in the bottom right. Or check the weapon description/stats and it shows you a list.
Hang onto equipment in case you want to switch your class to something that can use it. Assassin gets a really good climbing sword attack and plays a lot like Strider
Unfortunately there's only one save file but you can get around that on PC. Seriously though don't be afraid to experiment with different classes, you can hop between all the physical classes without much issue to try them all out
>where does it show it?
picrel
>what do i do with equipment that neither me nor my pawn can use? can i give it to other characters that i might play later?
You might or might not want to change your or your pawn's vocation later.
>Gogurt
What does he look like anon i have to know
It's just a random screenshot from google, actually it's not a screenshot even, it is a youtube thumbnail.
using symbols instead of text is counter productive bad, i thought the symbols where moves not classes
but thanks for the advice.
so there is no way to give items from one playthrough to another right? because i am not liking strider so much and think about restarting as warrior
You don't need to restart. Go to the inn in Gran Soren and switch to Warrior. Bam, you're a Warrior. Don't worry about "muh stats" like you may or may not have seen in this thread
Ahh
The undershirt makes it pretty funny though
if you start a new game from the main menu you start from zero. you can change your vocation soon for discipline points, just have to reach the main city with the main quest.
>using symbols instead of text is counter productive bad
bro you having a moron moment doesn't mean the system is wrong and evil
Honestly there are so many things this game does not teach you I'll forgive not knowing just about anything
I will too but someone taking their own misstep and projecting it on the game is moronic is any scenario.
The same symbols that always accompany your class name and are color coded based on the physical/magical damage tutorial from when you first get your pawns? The system is fine, you are just a goofball.
Hire my unicorn healbawd, she's made me so much RC lately its insane. PC
around level 100 is crazy for RC
how the frick do you deal with armored cyclops?
My pawns make out like you can knock off the helmet but I've tried so I just fall back on antler tossing him up the taint till he dies.
lightning magic can stunlock him to death
climb up to its head, it'll try to grab you off and instead knock off the helmet
you do have to dodge the grab though
You can just climb to his neck to a spot where it triggers the grabbing but he can't actually grab you
Crank electric whip.
lighting their head on fire makes them take their helmet off as well, and warrior charge attacks will literally strip the armor off their legs and arms while knocking them down.
Use powerful attacks to blow apart the armor. This includes throwblast, barrels, and many skills. Surprisingly, Tenfold Shot works almost better than Arc of Deliverance for tearing armor apart.
so you only have on personal pawn?
so is equipment just meant to be kept for me and my own pawn since i can't give it to other peoples pawns?
Yes.
Correct, exactly
Climb up on their backs--they'll either attempt to grab at you (jump away) and pull their helmet off themselves, or you can try attacking the strap that keeps it in but I don't know if that actually works
what am i supposed to do with equipment that neither i nor my pawn can use?
is there a characters wide storage system for multiple replays?
where do i see iteam requirements?
yes
Other pawns are meant to be quick hires you swap out to fit situations or for variety. If you give them any equipment it gets lost and given as a gift.
Scripted griffins are lame.
Would appreciate some hires anons, venturing into BBI now so I'm actually beginning to need RC.
Moniker's Freja, level 46, PC.
Just got to Everfall after Gran Soren collapsed, and holy shit these enemies are no joke. I feel way too weak for this.
Frick I looked at the spoiler and I'm on my first playthrough. What was I THINKING
oh well
It's not like it makes sense out of context. Maybe Quina went nuclear after you never talked to her.
Don't worry anon. Dragon's Dogma is one of those games that you can still appreciate even if it's been "spoiled" because of the good buildup that happens throughout the game and how it pays off.
>Everyone's collective fricking face when chamber of fate first time
Good times
Is anyone on ps4 willing to hire some pawn?
yes, post
>Josepha
>lvl 177
>sorcerer
Thanks again
well shit I’m only level 70 in my current run
gimme a couple days lol
Post pawn. I'm gonna start postgame stuff tonight. Any other PS4 players with pawn under level 100?
I have a level 60 sorc named Dusk if anyone wants to throw her a hire as well
Alexandra
Level 75 strider
Cool, will be a few hours before I get on so if your pawn info changes might be best to leave your PSN ID so I can find it easier
Try my PSN Hubert_Halfwit
You sure he’s level 60? Can’t find him
I refuse to leave BBI until I get the savior ring and all the tier 3 weapons. Barroch and Death tried to warn me.
Dude i've been desperately trying to get just fricking virge of madness and all i got were devilsbanes
WHY
the riftstone right before daimon makes a checkpoint save. hit it, kill daimon, roll the gear. if it's not what you want reload the checkpoint and the weapons should reroll (after beating him again of course.)
Hold on, that means i have to leave BBI to get the weapon purified? Doesn't it save once you leave BBI to gop back tto oira?
he means the object, now what it purifies into
you can only roll the cursed item itself not the purification outcome
the item isn't seeded until it drops.
I tried, the outcome of the purification is always fixed, you can only get 3 different items depending on your vocation
yeah because they're seeded once they drop per vocation bro. I'm saying the checkpoint is before they even drop. do you think you have a shadow list of what you're getting per BB item next, or taht daimons loot is et the moment you step in the first room?
there is a pre-seeded list for your character
Not him but i understand, what i mean is how do i know which weapon it is so that i continue or not to roll? I have to purify it right?
can't know until you roll it, yes.
that is constantly shifting.
the only thing that shift is the outcome depending on your vocation, but even that is fixed
if it was completely fixed you could game it completely. the semi-fluctuation of it is what makes this possible. they couldn't get as "frick you" as they liked.
you can't game it
this
doesn't work
I tried many times
>this doesn't work I tried many times
>reload the checkpoint specifically but yeah.
Ok bear with me for being a bit of a moron but this confuses me, does it work or not?
in my personal experience it doesn't work and that seems to be the general consensus online, maybe the other guy has some secret tech under his belt but I'd ask for proof. Just try yourself
listen man, you've got one guy saying it doesn't work and one saying it does. in either case you will waste less time testing it yourself then hauling ass through BBI again.
Pretty sure BBI purifications are all pre-determined by some seed in your save file. You can change the results by changing vocations but you are always going to get the same results with the same vocations if that makes sense.
Ok so i do the following
>save at the riftstone
>beat daimon
>get the chest
>go see oira and purify it
>if the result is not what i want i reload my save
Is that correct?
reload the checkpoint specifically but yeah.
yes and no. don't fall for the enb meme either.
why do banshees have 1600 magick defense wtf???
I’m barely doing any damage with a dragonforged solar providence
>Solar providence
That's why, you're weapon sucks
Just use the instakill spell lol they barely move
Honestly I consider the elemental weapons a trap
Since enemy defense works subtractively splitting the damage between two types just means it's harder to get either type above the required amount
Have a mage pawn cast enchantments when you need elemental damage
>Solar Providence is neither an elemental weapon nor a physical weapon
Disregard this post I'm a moron
>Honestly I consider the elemental weapons a trap
They probably are. I just run cursed light because it's cool.
help me get through the boring first 6 hours, it just keeps me from getting into the game...
I just want to deal big damage as a warrior and nothing else, wat do
me and my pawn are finally ready, post yours and I'll try to give you rc
I can't rate pawns anymore. When I release them they immediately go away without the normal popups. I am online not offline, made sure.
never played it. is it actually good? any mandatory mods?
>finally go to BBI
>both the pawns I've hired are learning all about the new enemies
>my pawn doesn't chime in when the others have learned something
knowing my pawn was good enough to take to at least the first part of this absolute fricking hellhole and not get sent brined is a point of pride for me, especially at fricking level 45 or something where I've been chilling for like 5 years
is having your pawn succ'd by daimon or just yeeted randomly equivalent to brine?
yes
uh oh sorry lmao
that's why I'm only beating daimon with only my pawn from now on
ye. all pawns that get RIFTED get 3 stars.
I thought you can stop that if you rehire them before you sleep.
maybe? I've never tried. that's just the way the cookie crumbles, baby.
Yes
yes
pass the DPS check if you're carrying pawns
>that one room with a drake and red farts
>think "Whatever, I'll just focus on the drake"
>he does his wipe roar
>gay red ghosts instantly rift 2 pawns
Learning the hard way
thanks for the info didnt even know that was a thing
Okay listen up you BBI rerolling fricks
Any questions?
Addendum that there's no need to refight Daimon for cursed item acquisition gambling: look up the chests you can get level 3 weapons from on the wiki and godsbane for them instead, it's much faster
>I'm pretty sure
The only part of my post I'm just "pretty sure" of is the reason we have a big back and forth on this subject
Everything after that is fact
Source: 9000+ hrs
but what if you get the same cursed weapon lv 3 every time you get a weapon lv 3 from that chest
Rng being rng son.
>Any questions?
Why is the 5 minute sprint back to Daimon part of the developer intention?
Because he's the capstone of the content and the final boss of the game, not some raid boss you're supposed to mindlessly bully for your gacha
You would think so but no, you want yellow since it's technically a bow
If you get the same weapon from different cursed items you're getting unlucky
You're two thirds of the way through
So if I'm running with Majick Archer do I switch to a pure blue class if I want a magic bow?
no you want yellow
no questions, I just refuse whiny nerds.
My only question is why would the devs subject us to this gacha hell. My pawn has seen me suicide so many times she doesn't even comment anymore, just stands there like not this shit again
Honestly once you get the full list of level 3 weapons you'll understand. Melting condemned gorecyclops and elder ogres is some unholy shit
Capcom rushed the game, so post-game was not very fleshed out unfortunately.
Not sure why they decided to do the exact same thing with BBI, though.
extend playtime, asian style
You only bring it on yourself. The weapons you can buy after clearing the quests are enough to beat everything in the game, everything else is just extra.
I feel like armor is way worse than weapons.
It is
There's 4x more individual armor pieces than there are weapons
TLDR
Boots will be boots and you and your pawns class chooses if its blue yellow or red
Essentially yes
I think I’m gonna get into the hobby of hiring noob pawns and torturing them through BBI. Sounds fun.
Guy on my friends list took my fresh new game pawn out on a BBI run and returned her with 1.5 million RC.
I just got past cursed dragon and necromancer how much mlre is there is bbi?
home stretch. it's almost empty the first time but total aids the second.
Alright, I'll power through it
That marks the end of 2nd wing. Don't forget to unlock the shortcut. Now you're on the last stretch
85% through, but you have to play through again with tougher enemies and upgraded final boss for the actual ending.
baby making sex with my pawn
The real question is, is it impossible to run certain weapons?
Weapon classes no, everything is viable. Specific weapons, well you're not beating up any dragons with a stick from the start of the game
base game? nah.
BBI? possible.
>impossible
Yes, the White Hawk Talon and Thousandlimbs
Other than that no, any weapon is technically feasible
>Thousandlimbs
>wear gryphic armor
>refuse to take off gryphic armor
>finally realize many hours later I just want griffith's armor
Virge of Madness, Devil's Nail, and every single yellow vocation weapon. I'm going to assume the mace is just really rare or I'm really unlucky.
I was happy enough when it popped the regular staff since now I don't have to care about blue vocations.
rng gacha drops huh?
let me tell you a thing or two
you can just look those up and go right to it at this point though. BBI has algorithms just to frick with you.
you can look those up buy good look filling up your chikage slots with perfect OOS gems in less than a week. It took almost a month to get 3 23.6% nourishing for hms
what exactly is the difference between Pawn's name and moniker. I have 200 hours into this game and still don't know.
moniker is for people with censored names
how exactly does this work? what prevents someone from using the same censored name as the moniker? I did exactly that without a second thought years ago, but it's just a basic girl name. people posting monikers in pawn threads made me wonder what's that all about.
There's a set list of monikers vs entering in your own name
>what prevents someone from using the same censored name as the moniker?
shithomosexualc**t isn't a moniker
ah, that's explains it, thanks. just came across the full list btw https://gist.github.com/the-jbutler/449c63022ea1aa286be925a2f010b695
I'm pretty sure the game tells you this the moment you create your character, your moniker is only used when someone enabled parental controls and shit.
Give your pawn a pair of rusty daggers fully upgraded.
That is all.
I will not. Fashion above all
rusted meta is gay as frick
I did't know how OP rusty weapons were for the longest time. Who would have thought that the starting weapons would actually be that damn strong.
It's only with the Bitterblack upgrades when they become good.
I've always understood this and I know I should at least try it but like
No
I want my pawn to hit and kill things not be a status bawd
I currently have a fighter and I'll probably end up giving her the Dragon's Roost but that's the closest I'll get I think
No. Tetanus isn't worth losing a shiny weapon at my side or my pawn's side. I just wish I could rareify Urdragon weapons beyond gold.
>unlocked High Anodyne on my main pawn
so nobody will hire her ever right?
do I just uninstall and wait for DD2?
Anodyne past a certain point is worthless anyways, just take it off once you get to bbi
No it's fine, the amount of pawns that are both good and also have retained regular Anodyne is very small, so High Anodyne is a very easy and common concession to make so much that I don't think most people think about it
Why have you come here?
*muffled and breathy SIC EM BOYS in the distance*
Here comes another Grand Seism
ebrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbr
They aeiou in quick succession!
>kill some bandits
>one of the pawns kneels down in prayer
what in the goddamn
I've never seen that before
LIAR
wait what the frick my pawn just dabbed
>summon anon's pawn
>he takes a piss on the spot where the enemy died
WTF
Sit your pawn down and talk to them, and you can change up their personality. Different ones say / do different shit in a bunch of different situations. I assume most just use inclination potions and forget about the actual pawn personally and just stick to the default.
>Retake the shadowfort
>Pawn starts Fortnite dancing
Fricking zoomer pawns
wait WHAT THE FRICK. I was joking about the dab obviously but after i killed a mimic the pawn literally kneeled WHAT THE FRICK. I thought she was grabbing something.
It’s related to this: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/626515-dragons-dogma/63477834
>Brine response
>Arrogant
>Sure you've made a mistake or three
Fricking incredible
Eternal return, anon
You can either farm for BBI level 3 weapons, do another playthrough, or god forbid put the game down
>swear I went full aggressive
>probably missed one or two
This won't do. I'll have to sit down at that chair many more times.
>"You battle, I'll take this..."
WE DO NOT USE THOSE WORDS IN THIS HOUSEHOLD, YOUNG LADY
She learned from you.
I love NG+ where I can wear whatever the frick I want and still be OP.
How do i make my Arisen's ass as big as yours?
It's all about the legs 9 baby
6 is great too if 9 is disproportionate
That's strange - 6 and 9 seems smaller to me than 11 (which i use)
6 IS BEST
I might have the numbers wrong, I'm sure of 6 but 9 seems low, thinkI meant 11
How to make screenshots like that?
That's a cutscene
Just take a screen shot during a story scene, and mod out the watermark.
Post favorite songs
They didn't need to make Corpse and Caster go so hard for a fricking midboss but by god they did
Golem theme is my fricking jam
iron golem theme is so out of place in witchwood
not gonna brag
level?
only 40
this is my second real save and i just loaded it up today
I've killed Daimon the second time, now what?
now kill him 10000 more times until you have all the lv3 weapons you need
So no credits, no cutscene, no anything? Even that girl and mustache guy refuse to say anything about it, he just fell dead and thats all, this is bullshit
You already got closure for dark arisen from the first kill and credits from beating big greg. Second form is just a bonus.
Oh, yeah, second form is really kind of unexplained. Shit just gets weird and beats you up and then it's over
Do speed run mode.
what causes previously hired pawns to be listed with greyed out names in the rift, not being available for hire? the owners started a new game, "corrupted pawn data", or what?
Maybe you can't afford them?
that's not it. I have millions of rift crystals and pawns with lvl 200 or ∞ are listed normally
Help my pawn getting knowledge, anons please.

Asking because I've never considered it. Does having a single lantern on affect if enemies will be aware of you easier? I haven't thought about it other than knowing Death will hyperfocus as soon as he sees a lantern.
post pc pawns for christ's sake
you know olra is a pawn because you can't bump into her
Can't imagine there are too many people interested in a level 200 pawn, but here's mine. She's cute and she spams Dragon's Maw.
Named A2 as a reference to Neir but also because it's a clever name for a pawn 🙂
