I found a way to make RPG's much more reactive. So in Pendor every faction has this thing called "strength" and it determines their spawn rate. I thought it would be very cool if more RPG's adapted this thing on top of the regular faction relations.
Faction strength would determine stuff like amount of patrols, control of the cities, quests, endings, etc. It's very easy to implement and makes player feel like he did something.

sound pretty cool
you could even use it for monster spawns
Might be kinda annoying if I want to keep fighting them.
Hopefully their spawns only really slow down when you start clearing their lairs and such but if you only attack the roaming monsters it doesn't have a noticeable effect even if the system is still counting.
Elaborate
Ok, take fallout 2 for example. In Den you just have to kill Metzger to get a good in ending. In
my ideal game if Metzger is dead and raiders have high strength you will get a worst ending because they will become more brutal and violent
>Might be kinda annoying if I want to keep fighting them.
This mechanic was done specifically to prevent grinding and acquiring endless xp. Like in Undertale if you grind for long enough the zone will become a desolate wasteland.
But there can also be a secret questline if you befriend some weak and evil faction by grinding mobs for 5 hours like in Wow Classic with bloodsail pirates.
if this STRENGTH is dynamic it could also make factions more powerful or trigger their expansion especially against weakened ones
>player massacre bandits
>orcs, goblins and gnoll clans expand into area
This would be fantastic. Has oneone done that yet?
Now I get it. Yeah, should be standard and it's quite easy to implement.
Not really 'reactive', more like it further enhances the 'persistent world' aspect of the game. Pointless thread topic though, did you want a pat on the back or some shit? Frick off.
It's better than yet another Baldurs Gate 3 thread.

Kenshi has something like this, where certain factions will take control of cities if you kill the commander there. For example I think Shek Nation and United Cities can take over some Holy Nation cities
Sounds cool.
