      In my my mind, invulnerable = you can't be hurt, invincible is that + you can hurt others by touching them. I-Frames are invulnerability, Mario getting a star is invincibility.

    It stands for eye frames since they are frames where you can see your character but your character doesn't actually exist as a physical object and thus can't be hurt.

      That was my impression but invincible is definitely used more often and I don't think there is any kind of authoritative source on this.
