The farming system is fricking garbage. It's mobile game tier, having an ENERGY bar in a non online game? Like, what? to punish me for PLAYING? I can't fish, mine, farm, clean, etc. all in a single day?
The town is alive and comfy and at the same time empty and devoid of any actual interaction. Considering how little the game weights, npcs should have 9999999 more lines so you never get bored from interacting with them.
Instead they all have the same boring routines in the same boring village, nothing new or eventful ever happens, ah, of course, except for the events, who are the same EVERY SINGLE YEAR, so you finish a single year in the game and you have ZERO chance to keep playing.
And the cherry on the cake is that nobody seems to care about any of this. Nobody cares about gameplay, setting, or anything. It's like the only people who care for it, are lonely losers using it as a dating sim, despite the fact their dating sim has like 3 lines of dialogue.

The point is time management, you can't do everything in a single day you you have to plan around that limitation, prioritise and choose what you need to get done. Now I'm an ADHDbrained moron myself so that sounds like wiener and ball torture to me, but I still see why it would have appeal to other people.
Time management is loose as frick at that. Every in game day is like 20-25 irl minutes and a full year in game takes like 30 hours. How people can't function with this is a mystery

A huge chunk of events in Ridgeside are like this, basically mexican novelas with walls of text while the farmer sits there and occasionally emotes like a tard. The ones that immediately come to mind are the one with the mexican family in the Heaps shop and the arrival of the blond chick's parents in Year 2 or 3.

Played all the RFs, Stardew is better. The only area where RF excels is the anime dating sim aspect, and even then Stardew can offer that with mods. If RF4 ever got mods that weren't made by giant homos then it might stand a chance, but it hasn't.
