Dwarves should be warriors or clerics, elves should be magic users or archers, and women should not be martials. What sense is there in purposefully making characters that suck, both mechanically and thematically?

while I agree with you, you can only play these race/class combos so often before they become boring
if you have veteran players trying out interesting character concepts, that's another thing, but these days you have so many new players who play moronic special snowflake multiclass bullshit for the sake of power gaming when they should just play something for type and stick with setting lore instead of injecting their homosexualry into everything. Halfling barbarians are disgusting, orc wizards are disgusting, enough with this nonsense.
You're a gay and you have bad opinions and taste.
My taste is a million times more consistent and sophisticated than whatever troglodyte nonsense of a character you manage to cook up every time you barely manage to get invited to a game. Let me guess, you play tieflings and other trite special snowflake donut steal oc's? You're not special, you're unfocused and trying too hard.
The difference is he can be fine with a classic dwarf while you're foaming from the mouth at his tiefling or whatever.

goes double for anyone who thinks they have something of value to reply with
>answer most questions with slight agree or disagree
>Based on your results, there's a strong probability that you are autistic
>Please pay 2250 quid if you want to be sure
Why does it even give a weighting if everything gives you autism points all the same?
Nah, eat shit.
>the kneecapper
>1d4+3 while on rage
5e doesn't have size penalties, and gnome barbarians are practically fricking invincible.
>Gnome Cunning gives you advantage on Int/Wis/Cha saves against magic
>Barbarian gives you Str and Con favored saves
>level two gives you Danger Sense, which gives you advantage on Dex saves you can see
>which gnome helps with because darkvision
>plus all the usual tanky Barbarian stuff
>plus rock gnome gives a +1 con
Gnomes or Halflings?
I can't tell, since 5e erased hairy feet halflings
This is why human characters are the best. You only need non-humans if you have no interesting story to tell. They don't have some moron sacred cow hat they need to wear and are limitless in possibility.
Dwarves should only be dwarves, Elves should only be Elves.
What sense is there in purposefully making threads that suck?

Okay, I forgive you.
>Being smallbrain and getting mad about it
lol
I like the idea of playing an out of type character if it comes from a place that personally drives them or lets me imagine some kind of unique history for that character. I don't mind being less effective for narrative fun as long as I'm not a complete fricking dead weight or a detriment in being able to find ways to contribute to the party's success.
If you need to play against type, you're probably playing the same game too much and should try different things altogether.
Terrible bait, 2/10
Dwarves are good thematically as rangers, though.

What do you care, you've never met a woman.
>STOP HAVING FUN THE WAY I DONT LIKE!!!!
Go frick yourself, pal.
>I-is that a dwarf, u-using a b-bow?!! NOOOO, HELP ME DIGGERMAN! I’M GOING INSANE!!!
You’re a slave to genre with no actual awareness for the complexity of a well designed culture, which shouldn’t be a monolith except in extreme cases. People who can’t see beyond those monolithic ideas are usually very autistic.
Based on what you have typed I'm going with:
Shut up, manlet
Dwarves should use strength bows.
None of those have any mechanical penalties to playing other things, though.
The point of playing a character is to play the exception, I only get annoyed if the exceptions are often enough that the type no longer applies. The vast majority of dwarves the players encounter should be warriors or clerics and so on, but if the player wants to play something different then fine. They will however be judged accordingly by others of their kind for not being a warrior or cleric and so on.
