I hate timed missions in games.

I've brought Xzar and Montaron to Nashkel so the timer has stopped now and I can go do other quests and come back later and finish this or is the timer still running?

Do the mine quest so your weapons stop breaking every 5 minutes

I'm still only level 1 with Imoen, Neera, Xzar and Montaron, will I be able to beat the mines or should I go do side quests or farm? I kind of just rushed to Nashkel to stop the timer.

You didn't pick up Jaheira and Khalid?

Anyway I don't know why you care so much about Xzar and Montaron, unless you're doing an evil playthrough you probably won't need them anyway.

I left them at the Friendly Arms Inn so I could drop these guys off and then go back and get them. I just wanted the xp and whatever I could get from the X and M questline.

It's my first time playing the game so I'm still trying to figure it out.

You're being too precious with your party members.
Part of the fun is not knowing if they'll leave or kill another party member.

If you're trying to game XP, then don't feed it to characters you don't plan on keeping.

If I ask someone to join my party then remove them from the parry, can I ask them to join again later?

Usually no unless they're an ee party member. Also the paired ones stay or leave in pairs unless you get one killed.
No idea why that other anon is lying to you, maybe he's confused with BG2, which has a "go back to the inn" mechanic.

It's not very hard it's mostly just kobolds in there, make sure to pick up a tainted ore sample to give to a blacksmith in one of the towns.

Will this affect all blacksmiths or just the one I give it to?

All. It won't matter since you'll just buy the new weapons and never worry about breaking weapons again.

Cool. I'm usually carrying extra weapons because of the durability so this will free up some inventory space. Thanks Anon.

The timed missions don't matter, you have like 25 companions to choose from. If they ditch/attack you for taking too long, kill them and get another companion.

You have like 15 days to go Nashkel, there's no need to stress out so much. Besides, it doesn't matter, all it does is that they won't be your companions anymore and unless you play an evil character it's really for the better

I thought someone said that it was only 4 ingame days before they would leave

ditch Xzar and Montaron, they're gay.
Get the npc mod for BG1 and if you want
    >Waifu party
Get the Red outlined companions. Shar teel and Branwen are romanceble, same with the homie but I don't recommend
    >A comfy party of bros
    Get the blue outlined companions

I'm playing as a bard and want a team of waifus. Neera isn't on that list but I want to help her.

She's EE addition, so she's generally a shit companion. She also won't have much content (if you're using NPC) beyond what beamdog gave her, which is terribly written.

          She's not romancable? That sucks.

nah she is I think, but it's not very good from what I've heard. She's the only female in BG1 that's romanceble base game I'm pretty sure (because BG1 doesn't have much companion dialogue beyond the EE companions)

Wild surge is a pain in the ass, is there a way to remove it by advancing her quest or should I look to replace her?

Honestly man I'm not quite sure, I've never really played with her in BG1 beyond rescuing her.

No. Wild Surges are her thing and are there to stay. She only has two quests. One is the play a prank on a helpless merchant, which means polymorphing him into an umber hulk and killing him. Second one is finding another wild mage, which after some lolsorandumb writing just results in another Red Wizard hitsquad attacking you, similar to the group in her recruitment event. The latter does give you a belt that gives partial resistance to one specific wild surge result.

Yeah Adjantis eventually attacks him, but you can stop him then it's golden
