Where do I even begin. Even like dedicated army painters get like 200-300 painted a year.

Start with the smaller and simpler ones, preferably of similar type.

Have you ever considered the idea that you are a loser and bought too many little statue toys for your shitty wargame?

I'm in the same boat as you. Been collecting models for 20+ years. I'm thinking I have to focus on what I'm currently gaming with at the moment.

Nah, like I have a problem but I'm a cheapskate. I buy miniatures from all sorts of places, mostly second hand.

Like I got Dreadball Extreme for £3 with like three extra teams, so suddenly that's an extra 50 miniatures on the pile.

Got board games like Star Saga for £25, Endure the Stars with another 50 models for like £17. Can't resist a bargain.

You think you got it bad. I painted 800 28mm samurai and made a bunch of terrain only to realize after I painted it all that I want to convert to 15mm because it's so much better for mass battle

Oof. At least you painted them lad, that's serious commitment and you might come back around to using them

Just sell 80% of it and paint the 20% you care about

      Not really

      >Two companies of Space Marines
      >Iron Warriors
      >Tau
      >various LotR, want to paint an "easy" Army of the Dead
      >Cyngar from old Warmahordes
      >Ghar from Beyond the Gates of Antares
      >Freeborn from Antares

      >several board games, from OG Heroquest to modern sci-fi like Star Saga

Then just all sorts of miniatures. Warzone, Bad Squiddo, Northumbrian Tin Soldier, Frostgrave, Oathmark, several Necromunda and Blood Bowl teams, Black Scorpion, Havok and Dreamblade prepaints, Reaper Bones. Newer Warhammer Underworlds and Warcry teams. Also loads of toys cars for Gaslands, which I have actually been working on.

I could make a cute warband for basically every Warhammer race at the least if not a 500-1000 point list of random stuff. All eras. Mostly just stuff picked up cheaply.

Why do you have 2500 unpainted minis?
How did you collect so many? What are they?
How do you get to even 100+ minis without attempting to paint one?

are they sorted? catlogued? still in boxes? off the sprue?

are they all for the same game? army? scale?

do you want them? will you ever use/play with them?

based on the answer there's then multiple way to approach this.

when I started getting into historical wargames, I joined a club where I was the only teenager and everyone else was 50-90 years old. as I grew older and those guys died a lot of them left me parts of their collections. over the years I've amassed more minis, both painted and unpainted, that I've no idea what to do with. The unpainted minis takes up over a dozen shelves on its own. I refuse to sell this stuff too because it seems wrong to sell something a dead friend left you. I have painted some of it but it'd be a life time before I can even make a dent in it, and I'm not even gonna bother trying to catalog it. Pic related is just 2 of the shelves. Each of those boxes is crammed full of plastic baggies full of metal minis.

are you still in the club?

if not can you join a new one or create a new one. amounts like yours are perfect to use a source of prizes for tournament, competitions, Xmas raffles, events etc...

nah the club has dwindled to a handful of guys who meet on occasion. Any attempt to get young folk into historical miniatures has been unfruitful, even with the offer of free minis, believe me I've tried

are there any miniatures that interest you? maybe trading them could work?

if you don't want to sell them I understand the difficulty

I always percieve myself as the laziest fricker I know. 3/4 times I paint a model, I loathe it.
And yet I have 2300 points of orks painted. I have zero unpainted models. Within 2 weeks of buying a model, I have it painted.

I'm genuinely disgusted by people who leave their models unpainted. What sort of lack of self control do you have to allow yourself to not paint your shit, let alone to not paint your shit and then buy more.

How do you hold on to your self respect?

Clean and assmble in batches of 20-30
Hand prime a single colour, bright
Give the model an overall wash
Paint some details, like 3 colours, flatly and cleanly
    Wash, base, varnish the model
You can do maybe a few hundred a month at this standard
Just aim for neat, bright and shaded
