man, I enjoyed speed running super metroid like 15 years ago when I found the video on old youtube of what was at the time the record. The games just so fun to play that I spent a good amount of time in the summer doing that, but eventually I went over to the metroid2002 forums and was honestly just put off by how psychotic they were that I eventually just stopped playing the game as much. Games still a blast though
That's one of the few games I could justify learning to speedrun, just for how deep the game is mechanically, how good it is even casually, and how many choices you have for different run types with different difficulties as you learn.
yeah even having cut myself from those communities years ago, I still play through the game every couple years. Sometimes running through relatively quickly and other times just taking my time through the world. I like the later metroid games but god damn super is something else

Agree on all points. A lot of great games in the Metroid series, but Super is just amazing and there will never be another one like it.
