This. I had very little interest in the gameplay, and despite being a Byzaboo and Ottoboo with a massive interest in Constantinople it wasn't enough to hold my attention. I did love the story though, and the ending was great. The entire series should have just ended there before the abortion that was AC3.

        >AC3
you should give the remaster a try, it has some QoL improvements
people are realizing now that it actually was a nice game
Haytham is one of the best characters in the franchise
Combat is brutal and animations are top notch, they really nailed it with the sound effects as well, every strike has weight and speed

          >Haytham
Yeah, he was the only good thing about the game and he ain't in it enough to warrant AC3 a good game. The remaster is ugly.

Yeah, he was the only good thing about the game and he ain't in it enough to warrant AC3 a good game. The remaster is ugly.

Haytham is a cold-hearted, shithead hypocrite who spends the whole game insisting he's superior to everyone, including the Templars, while indulging in the same exact kool-aid
whether he's trying to be evil redcoat 007 or bargain-bin colonial Vader in a particular scene is irrelevant as he's insufferable for all of it to the point where Connor, who has the personality of cardboard, is somehow more engaging of a character

Haytham only goes full moron in the final part of the game. Also Connor cheated in the fight with him.

The problem with AC3 is that it's horribly paced, makes it feel like a chore to play. And Connor is just way too bland

Black Flag was very underwhelming to me. Much worse naval mechanics than 3 and yet you spend far more time with them. I actually liked 3 more and I could swear it had better graphics than 4.

I unironically liked the setting a lot. Used to walk around the game with hud off, it was comfy. Ask me anything about the missions/story on that game and I can't answer as I don't remember shit as it was forgettable.

Sure, Victorian London is great but then you have to play as two quip machines who suck any ounce of fun from the game.

Syndicate is the last og, play everything until that. I know this is /v but even Liberation is good with the outfit mechanic.

I've heard good things about the 2d ones, but I haven't played them.

    FRICK FRICK FRICK THIS SHIT

AC would have been so much better if it just played the historical fiction bit straight. What does the time travel memory bullshit add to the story? Nothing. Nobody gives a frick about desmond we give a frick about the badass assassin slitting throats. Why did they feel the need to add that?

      Anonymous

Because originally some of us thought Desmond learning to be a badass assassin slitting throats meant he was going to be a modern badass assassin slitting templar throats in skyscrapers. Not be given a stun baton because guns are hard, and then kill him with a bug zapper.

It was better how AC1 and 2 did it, suddenly ending as soon as the character reached the goal. It was so flippant.

i'll never forgive my fellow gamers for taking desmond for granted. deeply flawed character with nolan north charm replaced by mudshit rey palpatine. at least ubisoft realized their mistake and killed her off too.

Revelations was a kino game and Constantinople was a great setting. Also some of the best tomb style areas like Forum of the Ox and Hagia Sophia.

If the last AC I played was Black Flag (and all of them before it) and I'm about to start Valhalla because of it being in the PS+ subscription, have I missed anything significant?

      Anonymous

Valhalla is pretty underwhelming compared to Origins and especially Odyssey but since you have not played any of them maybe you'll enjoy it. It's barely an AC game now and more of a Witcher 3 with parkour but it has some enjoyable features. Of the older ones Rogue is a shorter Black Flag but very fun, you play as a templar. Unity has a great map but a lot of people hate it, I like it a lot. Syndicate I hated but other anons like it so there's not a consensus on that one.
The modern day story ingame went full moron after 3 so don't even bother trying to understand it, just play the normal game.
