you're a fricking moron. go play dmc3 special edition. I doubt you'll beat it
They should bring all the swords back and actually give them different movesets or properties that are balanced with eachother so there's more of a reason to actually keep using all of them other than cosmetics and you're not straight neutering yourself by using certain swords.
DMC5 was moronic and made DSD a straight upgrade that made reb and sparda irrelevant. Even if you ignore dsd, reb and sparda are still barely different, and sparda is still technically better than reb.
Dante should be able to use yamato too, and have his own full fledged moveset with it that's distinct from Vergil's yamato moveset or his normal rebellion moveset.
Or frick it. Just have one "sword" type da, have a shit load of moves for it you can swap in and out ala godhand, and bring all the other swords back as skins. Don't even need to design new moves, just let us mix Dante, Vergil, and Nero's sword movesets together.
I just want nero but with less autistic play style >keep holding down gun button to charge up >make sure you hit the exceed button after every attack >make sure to also push the arm button after every attack for double damage >the entire consumable devil arm system
red queen is fun but for me nero is ruined by everything else
Nero's designed to be easy for casuals to pick up and play so his complexity will always come from superfluous stuff like that. Also the bringer knuckle ability isn't worth using really, it's more for set-ups like cancelling knockbacks.
>>keep holding down gun button to charge up
Get a controller with a paddle, or even an addon. It's night and day difference when you can easily charge with Nero and hit the other face buttons. Also helps with V charging Griffon, and same with Dante. >>make sure you hit the exceed button after every attack
Not too hard after awhile, and you eventually get to where you are always hitting it and just doing crazy powerful exceed combos all the time. >make sure to also push the arm button after every attack for double damage
Because you end up throwing on a miss-timed hit, I mainly just do that one his big hits like forward + triangle charge attack or his back triangle launcher. >the entire consumable devil arm system
Just got to plan out the level, which reminds me of DMC3 where you were limited and needed to plan which weapons/style you use. I will say that the SSS trainer mod is nice and that it will let you devil breaker switch
But it's so easy to do all that, I don't get why it's annoying. I think it's great that he is easy to get into but has a high skill ceiling with exceeding and bringer knuckles. Having to know a mission and plan it out is rewarding, especially when there is multiple solutions to which devil bringers you choose.
You don't see how having to hold down the trigger the entire time to charge up bullets is annoying?

I have a paddle on my controller. Got one of those PS4 official ones from Sony that you can program for like $20. It's trivial. It's great not only for DMC, but other games. Like take something like the Souls game where you have a dodge button but also need to move the camera with the right stick, just bind the run/dodge button to one of the paddle buttons and can control the right stick no problem.

Needing a hardware solution to a gameplay problem isn't a solution at all. It's a bad mechanic and they need to get rid of it, or just stick with the Color Up concept and get rid of Charge.

The problem is really that all controllers should have paddles/triggers on them, not that they have the mechanic in the game. Controllers should have gone down the Genesis controller/OG Xbox controller of where they had six face buttons, that would help with some of the inputs as well in DMC where you're having to hit two buttons at the same time for some moves.
Also you can use a keyboard and with 5 fingers stuff like charging an attack isn't as bad, either. There's actually quite a few keyboard players out there that can do cuhrayzee combos

Even with paddles, having to have a button held down the entire time you're playing is just not good design. It needs to go.
>using bringer knuckle every attack
while i agree the others are a pain in the ass / hand, especially holding down the gun button or resetting breakers between missions, god knows why they didn't make breaker loadouts a saved preset instead of keeping whatever you had left over from a mission, i've never seen anyone use bringer knuckle on every attack
that shit sucks to do on top of exceed and can screw you over with an accidental buster or leaving the enemy hanging in the air when using split since it cancels knockback like
Nero's designed to be easy for casuals to pick up and play so his complexity will always come from superfluous stuff like that. Also the bringer knuckle ability isn't worth using really, it's more for set-ups like cancelling knockbacks.

I really do hope they drop the "hold a button the entire time you're fighting" meta with Nero. I was so fricking happy when DMC5 seemed to get rid of it by sticking the powered shots, then his DT brought it back. "Buy and Elite controller or use a macro to map it" is not a solution.
You don't see how having to hold down the trigger the entire time to charge up bullets is annoying?
They did kind of fix it. Color Up has a higher DPS in DMC5 than Charge shot does. Shot 3 got heavily nerfed in 5 and constantly charging it isnt really that needed anymore.
>>keep holding down gun button to charge up
Not too hard to do, plus if you just want charged shots it's like a second of holding >>make sure you hit the exceed button after every attack
I've played Nero so much this is basically ingrained into me. It's also so much fun to actually use your exceed moveset >>make sure to also push the arm button after every attack for double damage
Just do it after every ability like payline, streak, calibur, you don't need to use it on every basic combo like its exceed >>the entire consumable devil arm system
Pick like 3 or so devil arms that you like and just loop between them, Gerbera, Punch Line, Overture. It's literally free damage, breaking them is for bosses only and they deal such insane levels of damage you're probably gonna go through like two of them before the boss is down.
Really don't even know how you Black folk have trouble using Nero and still complain about exceed, he's such a formulaic character that you can do a ton of cool shit with once you get past the very tiny skill floor. https://files.catbox.moe/4qtijt.webm
i'm gonna say it
after 5, 3 feels like shit even with free style, and almost all enemy types are fricking shit, i'll take 5s arena gameplay over open areas where half the time you're spent spamming trick to get close to them and 5 having so many more moves just makes it better, even in SM there's frick all in 3 and the only weapons that feel good are the first 3
frick all the guns
I appreciate the room variety difference that you get in DMC 3, like look at the third mission it street with awnings, a strip club with up stairs and a stage. Thing is, DMC5 starts off with that kind of good level design at the first half of the game when it's actually in the city, and only starts going into just open arena starting near the end. Also the only weapon that doesn't feel good is the Cerberus, though DMC5 fixed everything wrong with it. Nevan and Beowulf are both great. But you must be a shitter if you think all the guns suck. Spiral and Kalina Ann are both amazing and you can't beat DMD without them, shotgun has it's use vs a couple of bosses like Cerberus and the Leviathan Heart, and the pistols are always good for style and staying in the air. Only gun that isn't that good is the artemis, and that's mainly because you are forced to lock on while charging so you move around slow and can't free move.

There's some benefit to using the Rebellion/DSS in DMC5. First is you have that move where you throw out your sword to spin around an area which you can then switch out to another weapon for good style build up. Also the moves count as different on the style meter so you can dance macabre between them and build up style very fast. So they end up being ways to just get some more style. But overall DSD is an upgrade
>Enemy types
This is my issue with DMC3 as well. Almost every enemy in the game is a pain in the ass to fight and just feels awful to engage. DMC5 feels fantastic in comparison; every enemy is reactive and feels like there's an actual back and forth with them.
>DMC5 introduces Devil Sword Dante >a weapon that fused the Rebellion and Sparda that is the LITERAL manifestation of Dante's soul and will >homosexuals like OP still overdosing on copium thinking about a literal who weapon
The next story shouldn't focus on Dante, so there's no issue there. The game should be about Nero and Nico running DMC (with Kyrie cooking and giving moral support) and eventually a case brought to them gives them some kind of method of breaking Dante and Vergil out of Hell. Then like the last third of the game is Nero going into Hell to get them out.
Next game should be a Sparda prequel. With a KINOOOOO final battle where you fight demons until you die defending little Vergil and Dante if you kill enough demons you get a secret ending where he lives like in Crisis Core
I want DMC6 to star Nero and have him start building a Devil Arm collection like Dante but it'd be fricking cool if Alastor was his first proper Devil Arm.
Hope the bring back skating on enemies. Plus hope they bring back the stomp and shoot with the pistols. And hope they bring back the hook shot on the Kalina Ann.
Reuben and Dan not being a professional VAs is pure SOUL though. Reminds me of old anime and cartoons when they bring back retired 80 year olds to voice their characters out of respect for their legacy.
Also whoever they replace him with would probably sound even worse because Capcom refuses to pay union fees and hires so much garbage now
Voice acting clearly isnt their main gig though, theyre stuntmen primarily and thats how they got the job for DMC3. Theyre not exactly like Bosch who has a ton of voiced roles outside of DMC.
I dont think Capcom would want to let go of them because its much more easier to have them do voice acting and mocap rather than have separate people doing those roles differently
Just keep the homosexual out of Dante roles he wasn't meant to play and we dn't have a problem. UMVC3 Dante? Fine. Reuben. SMT Nocturne 2Dante? Frick off.
I do. Reuben shouldn't be snooping around in other people's junk.

It's funny how everyone loves Alastor so much and Kamiya clearly has a preference for it, but lorewise it's not really anything special. It has no emotional significance to Dante. That's probably the entire reason why Rebellion exists.
Kamiya's also got kind of a mental dead-lock on Devil May Cry as an IP with DMC1, to the point of Dante's off-camera appearances in Bayonetta art being of him. Though it's also weird that Luka Redgrave is very blatantly based off of Itsuno era Dante, specifically he's based off of DMC4's Dante.
Kamiya does appreciate Itsuno's DMC, I think. From what I recall, he actually personally really liked DMC4 to the point that it influenced Bayonetta. So it's not as if he's ever shat on Itsuno's DMC. And you can tell that Kamiya has a lot of respect for Itsuno since he gets pissed whenever he sees someone blame Itsuno for DMC2.
Well yeah, capcom stole it from him and his team and the DMC 2 we got was shit. Whoever the original DMC 2 director was should have been fired or demoted
11 months ago
Anonymous
It's not his fault. Apparently what happened was that Capcom wanted another DMC game but I think Kamiya was busy with something else so they had someone else who wasn't doing anything at the time take the helm. But the team who was assigned never made a game like DMC before so they were kinda trying to figure things out as they went. Capcom realized its mistake and assigned Itsuno to try and salvage the project, which is why it's in a playable state at all. Itsuno didn't want to be known as the guy who ruined DMC though, so he made DMC3 to make up for it.

Fine, I’ll stop shitting on the unknow DMC 2 director. >But the team who was assigned never made a game like DMC before so they were kinda trying to figure things out as they went.
I believe the DMC 2 team was originally from the arcade division or something but I could be wrong. Still the fact capcom had to bring in Itusno shoes the poor OG DMC 2 screwed up to a degree. Also pretty sure Kamiya was working on Viewtiful Joe(which also came out in 2003). >Itsuno didn't want to be known as the guy who ruined DMC though, so he made DMC3 to make up for it.
I still find this part funny.
I always thought the Force Edge/Alastor shit in DMC1 was dumb.
>Heres Dante and his iconic sword >Nevermind he gets a cooler Electric sword like 5 minutes in and that old sword is totally useless since you cant upgrade it. >Nevermind his old sword actually just needed to unlock its TRUE potential >Nevermind it still kind of sucks and Alastor is still way better
I guess it makes sense storywise but mechanically it felt so dumb and redundant.
Rebellion is just an artifact of circumstance. I'm guessing they didn't use Alator in DMC2 because of the whole amulet system, and then they used it in DMC3 again because getting Force Edge was a huge part of the plot. Alastor should have come back in DMC4 but they decided to keep it consistent with DMC2 and so by the time DmC happened Rebellion was already accepted to be Dante's sword, despite the fact there was nothing special about it.
Thankfully DMC5 didn't halfass things so he got a new sword that actually has powers and looks demonic.
Even in DMC2, Rebellion was stated to be an heirloom from Sparda. As long as it exists, there's no reason for Dante to use another sword. Alastor's just a random Devil Arm to him, no different from the countless other Devil Arms he's picked up. Rebellion is a direct link to his father.
I like it. I liked how metal it looked in DMC4, and I like the symbolism behind the skulls. One side's human the other side's demonic. In contrast, DSD just looks like something you'd see in Monster Hunter or something. For being Sparda's successor, it has way less character.
That's all ornamental though. This whole discussion was about how people liked Alastor more, and the reason why is because Alastor has cool lightning abilities. DSD and Sparda also have their own gimmicks but Rebellion doesn't have much of anything.

I'm so old now that this take wouldn't bother me. DMC1 is old and doesn't play anything like the post-DMC3 games.
Alastor is the first Devil Arm you get in DMC1 that unlocks Devil Trigger for you in that game.
Damn turning old makes you a beta. I'm gonna be young forever.
It does, I don't recommend it. Die when you're like 26 so you never have to get old.
>DMC1 doesn't play anything like the post-DMC3 games.
Oh shut the frick up.
Hope the bring back skating on enemies. Plus hope they bring back the stomp and shoot with the pistols. And hope they bring back the hook shot on the Kalina Ann.
frick off op you fricking moron
I miss good characters
Now this is kino
no it isn't who the frick is they moron
I've been playing totk and most of my food inventory is Hyrule pizza
>frick you b***h
the best thing about the original devil may cry is his pizza fetish.
Cowabunga dude!!!!!!!
gnarly
read and book, homosexual.
If it's not rainbow fish i'm not interested.
I also love trout
Sometimes i get chili cheese fries from sonic.
gay..sonic has no flavor
You can get them to add flavor. I make them put chocolate syrup in my coke.
I'd rather dink my own piss
I'd rather drink red bull.
why?
They have good marketing.
that's fricking gross dude
What about sour skittles?
every skittle is gross as frick
I like not being allergic to anything. especially peanut butter
at least my dick water has electrolytes
enjoy yours shit bland crap
Probably not but it would be cool if alastor came back as a boss
I hope the next DMC isnt directed by Itsuno, 5 felt a nice send off to his trilogy of games, also I dont want to wait 12 years for a sequel.
wishful thinking
I hope the next Dante isn't voiced by Reuben. I hate this guys voice.
pee wee Herman?
Huh never thought of it that way. Reuben kinda is a pee wee rip off.
I'd play another DMC game of Paul Rubenes voiced it
Tony Jay AI should voice Vergil
Tony jaa?
>I'm Dante foreal
Is this a kung pow reference?
blow
Reuben and Dan not being a professional VAs is pure SOUL though. Reminds me of old anime and cartoons when they bring back retired 80 year olds to voice their characters out of respect for their legacy.
Also whoever they replace him with would probably sound even worse because Capcom refuses to pay union fees and hires so much garbage now
Imo Dan and Reuben are about as professional as you can get in the area given their involvement with tokusatsu stuff
Voice acting clearly isnt their main gig though, theyre stuntmen primarily and thats how they got the job for DMC3. Theyre not exactly like Bosch who has a ton of voiced roles outside of DMC.
They can't retire soon enough.
I like campy games
I don't even care anymore. The VA can be a diversity hire and it'd be an improvement.
Frick off.
All the voice acting in Nocturne sucked. The whole style and atmosphere of that game wasnt made with it in mind.
Who cares about the actual DMC 2 dante.
I do. Reuben shouldn't be snooping around in other people's junk.
Unless you find Drew Coombs again and you're fine with him giving another Austin Powers reference, it's gonna be Reuben. Who's been Dante for the vast majority of the franchise's existence
#BringBackDrewCoombsDante
#ReubenStinks
Get it viral boys.
Maybe capcom should have not fricked over Drew Coombs from DMC 1
Capcom's motto is
>screw our good games
>insert coomer trans gays
I want to live in your reality where you're perpetually a victim and all video game companies have bowed down before (RANDOM IDPOL SCAPEGOAT)
not me
Capcom is dead. they literally have transvestites showcasing their games in north America. I think we should nuke Japan ahaib
>again
stiodj
I was about to post something very racist. kind of mad I didn't
are you drunk?
yes I'm stoned too
thank you for noticing
Reuben got replaced as Ken in SF6 after his tweets. He won't be Dante in the next game

Why should it? Dante already has a sword.
He gave his heart and swore eternal loyalty.
It's funny how everyone loves Alastor so much and Kamiya clearly has a preference for it, but lorewise it's not really anything special. It has no emotional significance to Dante. That's probably the entire reason why Rebellion exists.
devil may cry 2 is actually worse than dark souls 2, and that's saying something
Kamiya even likes the reboot. He's not throwing anyone under the bus.
He threw DMC2 under the bus.
DMC 2 was a bad game
Well yeah, capcom stole it from him and his team and the DMC 2 we got was shit. Whoever the original DMC 2 director was should have been fired or demoted
>Heres Dante and his iconic sword
>Nevermind he gets a cooler Electric sword like 5 minutes in and that old sword is totally useless since you cant upgrade it.
>Nevermind his old sword actually just needed to unlock its TRUE potential
>Nevermind it still kind of sucks and Alastor is still way better
I guess it makes sense storywise but mechanically it felt so dumb and redundant.
I don't think there is anything wrong with devil may cry. it's a fun game
Rolling to the side is faster than walking. I'm the master as rolling.
I never said the original was hard, it's just a fun game
Bet you never beat Hard New Game.
are we talking about the original or devil may cry 3 special edition?
oregano
I beat the frick out of it. that's why I was disappointed in part 2
I was dissapointed in 2 too but I grew to appreciate it a little more after the serious became reddit
I fricking hated it from the beginning. it was trying to be a resident evil clone with a second game but it was shit
It's a 6/10 at worst.
I hated 2 so much I think I threw my original copy into my trash
It's a 7/10 now. the scores gonna get higher dude.
not in my mind. it's a cage game for homosexuals
>it's a homosexual game for homosexuals
typo
8/10.
gay/10
9/10.
I remember seeing this one as a add in my comic books
I'm still pissed that I can't see women naked
shit only works half of the time
want to play a real devil may cry game? play 3 special edition United States version
you won't be laughing even your dead
12/10
>can I get some Cinnamon Toast with butter, b***h?
the original is really good and so is 3. that's my take
I gave the second disk to my sister. I think she threw it into a cornfield
Rolling to the side cancels the grenade launcher cycling. Feels good.
meet me at oot's Hyrule village
Yeah, but Rebellion is boring.
Starting from DMC4, its blade glows red when using Stinger and shit.
And pulling off quick drive and over drive was always neat
I miss them and Nevan
man you're moron. play the originals on every difficultly
>1 through 3
That's just Dante's energy.
NTA but I like both rebellion's skull and bones and Alastor's bat cross guard and lightning effects.
I use the MHW alastor mod for DSD
any moron who thinks capcom can make a good game after partnering with esg and dei is fricking moronic
