What are your ideas for A990 and upwards, because just giving jawworm 3% more health per tier seems silly after a certain point and I'm unsure what you'd expect for something going to ridiculous lengths of scale.
SoTS had balance pretty down pat and so I'd want more of that rather then worse "infinite" content.
I have no idea how this series got so popular, the game looks like mobile trash from 10 years ago, the themes are equally bad, the deckbuilding aspect was neat but it's not like it was the first indie deckbuilding game ever
Had to do with being the best indie deckbuilding game ever, add on the intent system that was as revolutionary as FTL's node base. What do you mean by the themes being bad? Which themes are you referring too?
>Which themes are you referring too?
Just the premise in general, even with hypothetically better visuals, the characters, story, setting etc would be bland and uninspired.
It's the gameplay. There's a trillion deck builders but they don't really match the depth or elegance of StS's balance. StS was made by hardcore card game nerds who ran thousands of hours of testing and statistics and live tweaking to get it right, then did a ton more after the initial release to improve it. You can't just clone the concept and make something as good.
Inscryption proves him right? It didn't just clone STS, except where it did, it created it's own niche where it excels at and is a better game for that.
I enjoyed playing most sts clones more so than sts itself. Gameplay is really fricking bland i in sts and overbalancing is a major reason for that. I can't imagine ever playing sts, or sts 2 even judging by how shitty preview screenshots look, after lost branch of legends and chrono ark.
Judging by your two choices there, There is a STS modded character who is both anime and whose boobs grow bigger depending on how you build her. I'm assuming your vendigram is of anime, card battler and fappable.
cause its really well designed and balanced - which most roguelites fail at
and its also very easy to get into, starts really simple and then steadily unfolds and gets pretty complex and has enough depth and variety to keep you playing, again - its really well designed
art/presentation is weak but that doesn't matter when the game is good
it might be still the best deckbuilding SP game ever
I hope they don't ruin the fun by over nerfing everything in the month after release like they did the first game.
God, Ironclad in the first few weeks of release was so fricking fun to play as and thinning the deck down felt so much easier to do. Then they just kept nerfing and nerfing and adding shit and now I just don't give a frick. Barely played it after they added and then nerfed Defect right away.
I played it on tabletop sim once with a buddy, it was alright. A budget $30-$40 game if I was being generous. Anything more than $50 and you're getting scammed, easily.
I tried and didn't really like it, the main mechanic is that you have cards that let you move left and right and you can use those to dodge incoming attack and it made things super easy and dull, I didn't really bother to play a lot or go through the harder difficulties though
Also if you are a furry you might like the character design
I love sts but I don't want sts2, I wanted something new. Even if it's just as good as sts there'll be no reason to play one over the other (and since the content might be different going back between them would be annoying)
I agree. Love sts but they’ve been at work for years I wasn’t expecting the same relics and cards and heroes in the reveal trailer. Was hoping for a new experience. That said Spelunky 2 is basically a reskinned Spelunky and it’s one of my favorite games so we’ll see
I'm coping that the guys behind THE StS will know better than to make a game that's 95% identical to its predecessor.
I want to think that new mechanics + new enemies + new relics + new cards + new events + new bosses will make the experience feel fundamentally different despite sharing the same base mechanics.
Inhaling hopium like a motherfricker here.
I hope it's designed in a way to allow Ascension to scale to infinity, and have every seed be winnable
Those seem like impossible design constraints
Well how about A0-20, every seed is winnable, A21-9999999 scales forever and some seeds are winnable on every A(n)
What's the point of playing an unwinnable seed?
>I want it to be possibly even harder
>but I want it to be actually easy
Isn't every seed "winnable" in StS excluding very specific Silent scenarios?
Like 1 (as in fewer than 2) unwinnable A20 seeds have been found in STS. Is that not fine?

>FTL node base
barely played that game, what do you mean by that?

Inscryption proves you wrong, in fact Act 1's charm is in how absolutely busted it is
Inscryption proves him right? It didn't just clone STS, except where it did, it created it's own niche where it excels at and is a better game for that.
inscryption was ass after act 1

I genuinely don't get this at all.
cause its really well designed and balanced - which most roguelites fail at

If it was as well designed and balanced as people say, watcher wouldn't exist
It's just wankery to justify the game more bullshitty aspect
>no defect
Wake me up when they mod him in.
Same.
Why do people keep parroting this when there are defect cards in the trailer?
wouldn't it be funny if they brought him back as a dlc character?
I beat slay the spire in my very first run.
You killed the heart on your first run?
>first run
dont you need 4 runs to beat it?
I hope they don't ruin the fun by over nerfing everything in the month after release like they did the first game.

Isn’t the watcher not in? It’ll be harder without the free win character.
hows the board game?
they're charging 100-150 bucks for it.
I played it on tabletop sim once with a buddy, it was alright. A budget $30-$40 game if I was being generous. Anything more than $50 and you're getting scammed, easily.
>looks like the same exact game
>they removed defect
why the frick?
moron.
maybe they felt like the defect was too restrictive to design around.
it do be a weird meme character.
Glad it's a standalone game and not a giant DLC because the first game is literally perfect.
I wish more people played dawncaster which is a more fun game that doesn't kick you in the balls because you dared to pick a card with a random effect
the flow isn’t as good and roguelikes with a narrative can die
I kinda wish you could play a StS version with a narrative.
>phone only
rip
I hope it's moddable like the first one
i hope it releases out of early access after 2026 just so i can finally play it.
i hope this revives the modding scene but now it's on steroids
Why not Slay the Second Spire?
2lay The 2pire
No Defect = no buy
defect sucks i hope they just make it into an enemy or something
I just want it to be longer, I reached the heart way too easy in this fricking lame ass game every single time.
Is cobalt core good? I want to try it but might wait for a sale. I like ftl a bit but I like sts more
There's a thing called ascension you should try
