I got the 4070s and frame gen seems like such a scam. the picture looks exactly the same, but the performance is drastically improved. makes me think its just a "feature" that will force you to eventually upgrade

I don't get your sentiment. It did exactly what it was intended for. Yes it's a sad reality, that the now fully concentrate on all that AI shit but I think they are experiencing hard bottlenecks in making new cards that have more real raw power compared tho the last generation.

The thing with frame gen is that the picture will look smother but the input will feel the same as the lower frame rate.
