Zoomers got filtered by the time limit in 1, so they prefer the easier and slower sequel. Not that it's a bad game.

How do 1gays have this much trouble with a 30 day time limit? Nobody who isn't braindead has ever had trouble completing Pikmin 1 in 20 days let alone 30.

      I like the caves

caves are harder than anything in 1 (as long as you don't reset like a b***h)

but the caves are so FRICKING boring

I like the methodical nature of them

You don't like the same assets repeated over and over again?

they use a bunch of different assets in different caves, they're not all the same

      >muh time limit
the time limit is so fricking long it's a non issue

there's 30 days and you need 30 parts. As long as you get one a day you're fine.
And if you multitask at all even a little, you're bound to get several ship pieces on many of the days, making the time limit practically a non-issue.

The time limit in 1 is legitimately bad game design not because it's difficult, but because you don't KNOW it's difficult until you've already beaten the game.
The moment you learn there's a time limit you're going to try and go as fast as possible because you have no idea how strict the time limit is, so instead of getting to explore the cool "alien" world you're going to be too busy rushing yourself and then inevitably you'll beat the game on day 20 and then feel like you were making the game worse for nothing.

no one pretends the time limit is "epic and hardcore like dark souls" you 2gay moron, it's because the time limit propels the pace and momentum of the game. It's not a fricking boring slogfest like 2. That's what the time limit does.

it doesnt though and you are pretending it adds anything to the game besides flavor

          >it doesnt though
it does, because the entire game is built around the time limit. are you telling me pikmin 2 or 4 are paced better than 1 or 3? 2gays are delusional

            Anonymous

Are you really going to put 3's 'pacing' on a pedestal to shit on 2 and 4? 3 railroads you up until the very last minute and you only get to actually go at your own pace just before the game expects you to fight the final boss. You're better off just speedrunning everything up until that point. It goes against the open ended progression that both 1 and 2 have. You people who hate 2 are actually delusional.

            >pikmin 3
            >better paced than anything
            bait

The time limit is good because it forces the player to rush (literally dandori) and not turrle, it also makes the game incredibly unique.

if you fail the time limit in pikmin 1 you genuinely do not understand the game on the same level as the guy in that cuphead webm and it's the game's way of getting you to review the basics again. the time limit isn't even a significant factor for most children who play the game who don't huff glue. it's flavor. it sets the tone and nothing else, and that's fine because it is very effective

How do you even play these games in 2023 without going the most ghetto emulator routes?

      There are Switch ports.

Literally they are all on the Switch if you must play them on hardware. If you won't emulate them there's nothing stopping you from playing the first 3 + the new one.

I like Pikmin 2 more because I like Louie. EZ

    Pikmin 2:
    >Improved pathfinding over the total dogshit Pikmin AI from the original game
    >Two captain system ensures you're rarely waiting around with nothing to do
    >Space emails are funny melancholic and memorable.
    >Piklopedia is fricking amazing and soul incarnate.
    >Giving Yellow pikmin electricity endurance is a good idea.
    >White Pikmin are a good idea
    >Purple Pikmin are adorable fat boys
    >Treasures are beautifully modelled and always fun or interesting

It does SO much right for a sequel and yet none of that matters because the game is just CAVES CAVES CAVES CAVES AND MORE FRICKING CAVES. You spend more time doing these bullshit randomly generated dungeons than you do actually exploring the overworld and interacting with the world and solving puzzles like you did in Pikmin 1. The 15 floor caves and boss rush in the final area are just truly sadistic and the opposite of fun. Caves could have been an interesting side mechanic to pad out the game but unfortunately THEY ARE the game. More than half of the real levels are just recycled areas from Pikmin 1 too, even with some treasures in the exact same spot.

Why were Nintendo so fricking lazy? Pikmin 1 will always be the superior game, warts and all.

i grew up with both games, but I prefer Pikmin 2. It's the one I kept coming back to over the years. Yes, I find the caves fun. This is apparently another episode of Ganker forgetting that different people find different things fun. Kinda silly that I have to explain it, but I am genuinely believing some of you have a hard time grasping that concept at this point.

Ganker is full of autists who interpret people disagreeing with them as an insult, or that their own opinion is somehow being diminished just by virtue of somebody else having a different one.
I know because I'm autistic and I used to act like that.

    >It's a treasure hunt game, you don't know what you will find
    >The game has extremely memorable bosses like the riffle spider, the water wraith, titan dweevil and the lovable breadbug
    >The game is loonnnnng
    >Caves are actually threatening and the procedural part make them stay fresh even on successive replay
    >Louie is moronic
    >There's actual post game
    >The challenge mode is the cherry on the cake and make the game even longer

There's just nothing to hate. This game is my favorite GC game and make Pikmin 1 look like an appetizer.
