I just realized while playing TOTK that I wasn't enjoying it as much, and decided to play Skyward Sword HD, which I had but didn't play at all, I completed it after a week and remembered how the original Zelda experience felt, and I prefer it over BOTW's and TOTK's approach; in these two games you kind of feel like you're dissociated from the story, which I don't like, the story in Skyward sword was one of my favorite things from the game, it was absolutely beautiful, and it feels wrong for it to be memories around the map that you are not participant of. And the gameplay approach is not of my liking either, Link has always been the hero with the sword and shield (and a lot of other convenient items for specific situations) and in TOTK specially this is ruined with the ultrahand, BOTW Is kind of here and there, but TOTK just doesn't feel like a Zelda, and that's probably what made me drop it, not only does it feel overwhelming, but spending most of the time farming and stuff just doesn't feel as good. I needed to express my opinion about the topic and it kind of saddens me that the BOTW formula is the one going to be used in the next games
Open world/Botw style Zelda sucks. It's really a shame.
older zeldas: wow , what an adventure
nu zeldas: wow, i can build a plane
>nu zeldas: wow, i can build a plane
At least for 30 seconds
Playing TotK
>"I wonder whats over there?"
>find a cave with branching paths, leading to treasure, unique items, boss battles and shrines containing gigantic multi-floored, multiroomed mini dungeon, offering unique puzzles/challenges/assault courses.
Playing other Zelda games
>"I wonder whats over there?"
>"oh I can't go over there"
>find a cave
which looks like 100 another caves
>"I wonder whats over there?"
i wonder what's next, im sure its not a copypase cave or boring shrine like in Totk
> unique items
stick which breakes after 3 hits
> boss battles
oh another reused miniboss how fun
>gigantic mini dungeon
lol
>unique puzzles
find a crystal and bring it here, repeat 20 times
>totk
>go far off the beaten path for meaningless trinkets like disposable weapons, arrows, rupees etc
>other zelda games
>the meaningless trinkets are on the main path, going off the beaten path gets you cool shit like heart containers and side quests
>BOTW formula is the one going to be used in the next games
There is always the possibility of spin off games and remasters/ remakes, but yes the BotW template has replaced the OoT template. I have hope that we may still get more traditional 2d titles. I like BotW/TotK though so the loss isn't huge for me. I still replay OoT almost every year.
I like BOTW and TOTK quite a bit as well aside from the korok seeds and durability, but if they do it again I'm not playing it. BOTW got away with it by being new for a Zelda game, and TOTK got away with it by expanding every aspect of BOTW, but that's where it ends. It can't be novel anymore, and they can't expand it.
hear me out. what if you can make weapons out of 3 parts and each korok has lost family members you have to find
Yeah, same. I am fine with those two games being the Zelda of the switch generation but they have to address the issues these games had earnestly with the next one or i wont buy
And people still pretend the Zelda Cycle isn't real.
Skyward Sword being praised for its structure is a trip
>150 shrines with garbage filler content
>80 instances of the sign guy
>50 wells to find with a chest/plants inside
>100 caves with a frog inside every time
>same camps with enemies dotted everywhere
>1000 korok seeds
>Depths are just reskinned enemies and zonaite
>Sky Islands all have the same green crystal puzzle
>MMO style farming for costume upgrade mats so you won't get oneshot
TOTK is the literal textbook definition of 6/10 Ubislop were the same 5-6 things are stamped around a map 100+ times with no progression in difficulty.
And the kicker is, they had 6 years to rethink the formula or at least tweak it and it's 90% the same core structure with a new gimmick meant for the roblox audience.
How did this get perfect 10/10s? I don't know, how did SS get perfect 10/10s?
Seething shitter lmao
>no rebuttal
As expected.
This pasta is getting pretty stale. Get new material
Sad facts.
you are all responding to a fricking reddit post, bravo OP
Thanks for leaving the username so I can go harass them
in surprised he wasnt downvoted
1000 people agree with that post
>I prefer Skyward Sword over BotW/TotK.
Jesus Christ OP.
TotK is the ultimate Zelda game.
I wish the next game tries to have real-time terada lines. I don't know if that's possible, all attempts at similar look too stiff.
Dead thread
Dead hype
>Shitward Sword
That garbage killed the series for good
Really? You're gonna pick skyward sword over ww or even mm? SS is so dogshit and not even having good dungeons saves it from the shitty backtracking, empty sky world, absense of towns and races, and bad motion control combat which feels worse without the Wiimote.
Playing BotW
>i can't wait to see what interesting puzzle that makes clever use of the runes awaits me in this shrine
Playing ToTK
>please be a rauru's blessing
Aonuma is just a weak puss. Skyward sword is mildly controversial: "oh no, i have to drastically overcorrect the series and get rid of almost everything that gave the games an actual structure"
Annoys me more than the games themselves
>Aonuma makes Wind Waker
>People wanted Oot 2 because of that sick demo, melee and new gen graphics
>Overcorrects to make Twilight Princess
>Aonuma Skyward Sword
>People complain about linearity and handholding and the new story
>Overcorrects to BotW, aping Minecraft and Skyrim with a really distant connection to the old games
>BotW sells so much they make BotW 1.5 fixing nothing just adding more Minecraft gmod shit for tiktok videos
>Zelda will now be like this forever
Aonuma is a spineless fricking hack and I have little respect for him. Zelda ended at Minish Cap for me.
I prefer linear experiences to open world simple as that
I played Minish Cap blind while waiting for BotW and loved it
Shut the frick up loser. SS is the third worst Zelda in history and the worst 3d Zelda by far. TOTK is the opposite end of the spectrum. Can and force your fun all you want with artificial wii soul all you want loser it doesn’t change facts.
Your speculation is as worthless as your taste and not worth addressing.
The last 3D Zelda, SS, was bad, and this new IP wearing Zelda's skin is gay and bad and the series has only declined over the past 20 years under Aonuma's incompetent homosexualry and Fujibayashi's clueless weebery.
A pasta because OP is too lazy to make content but he absolutely has to try and shit on the 10/10 game.
>A pasta
Just like the game.
BOTW was an interesting experiment and a very engaging game but it shouldn't be the future of Zelda.
I would have been fine with botw+ dungeons but lol clearly asscreed nromalgay audience cant handle that.
This
Instead of 150 of the shrines, they could have had 75 shrines and 8 real big dungeons that each took several hours to do or whatever
I didn't play any of the zelda games until TOTK.
The only reason I played it at all was because of the building system and the open world, which turned out to be just toddler grade systems and trash compared to other building games.
Naturally I didn't even buy the game, I pirated it and played it in an emulator.
Quit being such a nintendo homosexual.
Breath/Tears open approach to the story is bad. It's extra bad in Tears because it makes Link seem like a c**t if you've already found all the memories. Just let's Yunobo run after "Zelda" when Link knows she's a dragon by this point.
It's silly.
mmmmmmmm eyebrowsssss
I like how Botw/Totk handle story. You're essentially getting two. One from the past you get to put a puzzle together to understand fully. And the story in the present, which you get to take part in yourself and influence the world you've been exploring. That shit is awesome. That's the type of interactive story telling games need.
The problem is the story from the past is always more interesting. Maybe they could have mixed it up with totk and have you explore the past and collect visions of the future to prevent ruin, rather than memories from a long forgotten past.
That would have been a fun way for TotK to differentiate itself from BotW.
They wouldn't even need to change much about the gameplay. You could still have the sky island and depths and dungeons. The sheikah tech wouldn't wouldn't be invented yet. could have more freedom for dungeon locations. New characters. They could have looped it around and made Link and Zelda the ancient heroes from their past.
