What are the improvements?
I liked Remake's combat overall, but it really fricking pissed me off sometimes. Spells missed too easily for how little fricking mana you had and a number of enemies could just teleport away right before you cast a spell or used a skill. That fricking ghost in the train yard seemed to be scripted to always teleport whenever you tried to hit it with a skill.
more combo opportunities since some characters actually have launchers and you have actual air combos where you can also link up certain ability attacks.
holding down your attack button also does a different attack as well which you can mix up in your standard combo.
and like what the other anon mentioned, synergy attacks (basically attack with another character) can also be used in combos as well.
its no DMC or bayonetta but it definitely feels more actiony compared to Remake. it really is a substantial change.

Not him, but combat is a lot smoother in general, and there's a lot more to it like air combos and synergy attacks.
ive noticed that the enemy is tankier / does more damage as well so thats a plus
also ATB is slower to get, thats also a plus, it makes you use your ATB in a more smart way
>Cloud gets more moves >weaker elemental attacks but cost no MP, so if you need to apply pressure its there. Just having these also increases the damage of the real element >Synergy Attacks, which are offensive, defensive or support type things that cost no ATB >Synergy Abilities, which you can use after 2 characters both use 3 ATB slots. Think of it as a 2 person mini Limit Break that also applies a buff like unlimited MP or increase Limit Break level aka you can use higher ranks like Catastrophe at the start >movement in general is faster/more responsive >really good new materia to fill in gaps, like using items without ATB or auto-cast unique abilities aka Tifa will use Unbridled Strength automatically with atb or Barret will use Overchange
>And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
>Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
>Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
How many gays are there? Looks like that one article that everyone coped wasn't real turned out to be right.
And it's going to be really funny seeing people who tried to hype FF7 Rebirth as "anti-woke" just because of a mild bikini scene suddenly have to constantly defend stuff like this now.
Why is it whenever there's gay couples straight people are obligated to say "happy for you both!" or "I'm glad you found the one!"
What the frick is up with that? Always feels so forced.
Im convinced this game is going to have my friend die of the first ever autistic head explosion. I've never seen a guy have a full blown overwhelmed meltdown over a game havin an open field to explore. Not being in a hallway with yellow guidelines is too much for him
I guess you have to be used to japanese conventions or something, to understand what is supposed to have happened here. Sword goes into ground a dozen feet away from girl,
girl dies. It's like that first samurai movie where the sword shuffles awkwardly 3ft behind the dude and the blood sprays out
if you're referring to Kingdom Hearts, it in fact does NOT have multiverses. There are multiple worlds, but they aren't alternative worlds. There's time travel, but it's not a huge focus (mercifully).
It is absolutely convoluted though even without multiverses/much time travel, I'll admit that
japs became just as moronic as everyone else. no one is allowed to think and create freely, it always MUST be the "last thing be next thing"
and thats now even mentioning this whole shitshow was supposed to be remake of existing story, not repozzed fanfic made with characters stolen from the original
called it. why else would they put in the ghosts just to kill(?) them at the end of the first game. think i saw a screenshot of them coming back anyway
I get it's day time which doesn't do the place justice, but it wasn't supposed to just be George Jetson and his neighbors. I didn't like the changes to Midgar either. Other than Cloud and Zack's hair being less dramatic, they did nail all the characters though.
Same. Outside of some shoddy "use the meme trigger" moments and the stupid vacuuming mako shit it's been all great. Just seeing the characters more and fleshing them all out has been great. Kalm was kino.
Reeve having a change of heart after seeing everything go to shit was a huge part of his character dynamic. Changing it to where he was a good guy all along is bullshit.
i honestly hope the way they address how Cait Sith works is it's an actual team or his female assistant running the toy while he watches and manages from the sideline.
I know Reeve is on their side, just saying it'd make more sense if he is aware of the subterfuge that Shinra wants him to do with his toy and "team" but is probably having them go against the grain of upper management.
Any way of short hand explaining how this 'toy bot".
Tell me, where else do you see him either shown or mentioned in Remake aside from his reaction? Not as Reeve, but as Cait.

The context is the original. Which as I've stated, the devs expect you to have already played. It doesn't need further set up. They show a lot of things with no in game context because of the same reason. Who fricking cares? Besides even if you haven't played the original you're going to learn who he is later anyway. What is your complaint here? Why does it need set up? Nothing is being paid off.
Those 2 aren't mutually exclusive though? Why would he have a change of heart after seeing the effects of Shinra's actions if not for him being a good person inherently. That's not how that works.
I spoiled myself on the ending after I began to find the game was getting tedious and I was just not enjoying the mess of busywork. I am definitely not dumping a shitload of time into the game just to see that shitshow.
In six months time this game will be reviled as a symbol of everything wrong with AAA development, screencap this.
The more I see of Rebirth, the more I realize my biggest problem with XVI is it having a massive stick up it's ass and taking itself way too seriously.
Is anyone’s autism triggering with how janky the traversal actions are? For me it destroys my motivation to explore with how bad it looks. I can’t wrap my head around how a major studio put a pass on this. These animations look worse than an outsourced third world company.
Is it possible to level grind like I can in the old games like on the SNES or am I stuck just fighting enemies every 15 minutes after a bunch of walking around and story?
How does the dialogue options work. Is there always 1 best option that raises it a lot, 1 ok option that raises it a bit and one bad option that lowers it?
What does it matter, you can't even import your save from game to game. Literally nothing you do or whatever relationship you "deepen" will revert back to baseline in part 3. Useless bells and whistles.
I have nothing against PlayStationbros, I mean
I had to be a PSbro in the first place when I played FF7 on release, but I really hope this pedophile doesn't delay the Steam version further. Platform exclusivity is a lot easier to swallow than splitting up a single platform. I don't want this creep to have my info or use his shitty software.
Glad to hear the game is good. I was surprised how much I liked Remake even with the time jannies and blowing their Sephiroth load too much. I'm glad to hear the combat is even better because I already liked it despite being a huge "FF should be turn-based" gay for over 20 years now.
If you liked Remake you'll 100% like this since it's just that but better in every single way. Yes even the story. I think people on Ganker have goldfish memory to have already forgotten how fricking terrible the ending to part 1 was.
I want to kill the Jap homosexuals that thought Fort Condor was a great idea. I fricking hate minigames and I’m glad FFXVI didn’t have any of this worthless padding bullshit in FRICKING SIDEQUESTS.
I haven't played it yet. What's the plan for part 3 you think? Are there any hints for it? What happens when we get the Highwind? Are we gonna be able to pilot it or is it going to be FF10 style where it's basically just a hub world? Do you think Junon, Nibelheim, Fort Condor, Gold Saucer, all the shit (I assume) is in part 2 will still be accessible in part 3?
That battle music for the mythril golem was so good bro
it was pure fantasy, like it was made for undertale, FFXVI or even FFXIII
Nomura said that the biggest challenges for part 3 are implementing the highwind and the weapons, so its not like they will cut it or reducing it to a fast travel menu
>Before the thread goes deeper into moron territory, we gonna have to get something clear.
>At the end of the remake, the player had to kill the big time jannie. We dont know exactly if this completely destroys the jannies, it did destroy their influence and presence, we do know that this open the possibilities to some stuff changing, therefore the whispers wont have the same influence as before.
>What Hamaguchi says doesnt mean "yes, the whispers are back and they will do exactly the same as part 1". The whispers could be brought to discussion when discussing part 1 ending and the consequences behind it, and it will still fit with what hamaguchi says. In fact, the ultimania has a page destined to the whispers and "what was their true objective", meaning theres still some stuff the party doesnt know that we have to unravel. So expect some bugenhagen exposition like "oh so you fought the whispers, yes indeed, they are the cries of the planet, and they dod this and do that, the fact that they are dead could be mean this and that, please beware" and some stuff like this. Or even be part of the temple of the ancients lore and some other zack related stuff.
>However Ganker, being the overeacting morons they are, immediately think we are gonna see Dyne becoming good but being pushed by the jannies down the cliff or some shit.
>If we see the whispers acting the same as part 1, then we can officially say part 1 ending was terrible because it is a given that the ending fight meant nothing and it was just a big spectacle of nothing. Then, i will accept any overreaction. Until then, theres proof of literally nothing, and you homosexuals already act like the whispers are back just like that in part 1.

No, they don't act the same as in part 1. They never try and correct the timeline by stopping shit the way they did in the first game. The story shits the bed at the end but not because of the time jannies.
But they did. >Aerith used her Mystery Wiggas to stop him from stopping Aerith in the Sleeping Forest >They let Cloud in to see Aerith at the Forgotten Citu >Sephi used his Mystery homies to force Cloud to kill her >He breaks free, stops Sephi, but Sephi used world merging haxx so he wins
In part 1 they work specifically to keep the timeline in check. In part 2 they don't do that. What are you struggling to understand here?

It seemed really vibrant when I first stepped out of Kalm but everywhere else it seems kind of washed out or overexposed, I have a shit tv though. Not 4k
If I was you I wouldn't bother. This game wasn't made to reward skill it rewards grind. Titasn on the hardest is long and tedious and if you frick up like 3 times its over. If this game didn't have a homosexual break system then it would be better
there are two ways to handle fights in action games and a way to interact with the enemy: stagger system or hitstops
hitstops makes the action be more button mashy to keep the enemy stunned and more about juggling and making combos as fast as possible
Stagger system is more about tactics, to create a plan, execute it and capitalize on it. Thats why theres so many factors in order to pressure/stagger.
For a game like FF7r which is tactical based, stagger system works perfectly.
stagger system would be fine if bosses didn't have multiple phase changes that cancel it out every time, its just obnoxious and feels unrewarding
3 months ago
Anonymous
That annoyed the hell out of me in the Rufus fight in remake specifically. Not even a state change, got the dog staggered then the helicopter calls in.
>stagger system or hitstops
This game has both at times and both are cancer alone but together it's super cancer. Figure out another way to make battles not tedious, The system is terrible.
That's a nice story you have there
It would be a shame if...
it grinded to a total halt for 12 hours while you have to grind icons off of the map while doing menial tasks.
Im really interested in how cait sith plays but i dont own a PS5 so I have to wait. Can anyone explain his mechanics to me? Id also appreciate if anyone explained what new things the og 4 got and also how red xiii plays
Going through the Nibelheim flashback, right after a segment with Zack while the games aren't even bothering with the mystery surrounding Cloud feels so utterly bizarre.
i think its more about how the characters act and react rather than work around the twist, the conversation of tifa and aerith / cloud and tifa after the flashback is proof of it
I absolutely hate the ending. Holy shit what a downgrade. The only thing that's nice is Aerith's send off. Like what the frick was the point of Sephiroth missing and then just "lol it was a hologram" killing her anyway? Just constant interruptions that frick up the tone, Bizzarro Sephiroth for some fricking reason, Bahamut boss fight for some fricking reason, ANOTHER Sephiroth boss fight again for some fricking reason - all with drastically different music, bombastic party banter, and they cut Aerith's theme for the Jenova fight. Fricking abysmal direction. And the send off happens like three times. Aerith just can't say bye. It's fricking endlessly obnoxious, and it sucks. Bringing in multiverse shit is fine, whatever, but they removed the most impactful things. "Shut up. Aerith will never" etc, in favor of this overstimulated ADHD color vomit every five seconds because bigger and epicer is betterer.
The "Aerith will never..." speech happens, but Cloud represses it (represented by the glitches). Calm your breasts. All the stuff that's "missing" from these games are being saved for a more dramatic impact in Part 3 when Cloud fully loses his marbles and Tifa helps him re-find himself.
It's not how I would have done it, but I also wouldn't have made one game into three by padding everything out.
Still. Calm yourself. Cloud's speech, the water burial, the actual murder, and much more will be insanely impactful in Part 3. And Part 3 is almost definitely coming out in 2027 in time for the 30th anniversary.
This is one of the only sensible replies in any of the FF7 threads since this game dropped. The fricking morons don't realize that all of this is being done for a huge climax in Part 3.
And frankly if that doesn't happen, I'll eat my hat.

The lifestream is the literal deus ex machina from which Aerith casts Holy in the original game. It's almost its own character. It's incredibly important to the way things play out.
This conversation only proves that brainlets have never actually understood FF7. No wonder they dumbed it down.

And frankly if that doesn't happen, I'll eat my hat.
I am critical, but I also want the game and the sequel to succeed. Some things are worth pointed out though.
I mean, the game does have a good share of flaws, which honestly is to be expected because it's a pretty fricking massive game, especially considering it's part 2 of 3. Remake seemed a bit short in retrospect, but that also may have been because there was no real world map to wander about. That's something I'm really happy with in Rebirth.
It's an ambitious series, and I absolutely hope they don't drop the ball on the finale. The ball has been dropped WAY too many times in the recent history of Square-Enix, but they also have had some bangers (the conclusion of some of the storylines in FFXIV, for one.) Fingers crossed it all is going to be worth it.
Can i get combat tips? I just play as Cloud am I supposed to be switching to everyone? there's a lot of crap going on at once and idk if to use those team sync abilities or summons or limit breaks or magic or wtf do i even do
>I just play as Cloud am I supposed to be switching to everyone?
Yes; this isn't Kingdom Hearts, switching characters is how you make the most of their abilities.
Haven't played Rebirth yet but I'm sure it works like Remake; unless the enmy is stagered your normal attacks will cause borderline chip-damage, so you'll need to rely on abailities that consume ATB to either cause big damage or increase Stagger.
I'm constantly switching after using one or two ABT abilities; you get the hang of it in no time
They do if you use Auto-Cast, Auto-Cast Unique Ability or Auto-Cast Weapon Skills. The problem is the AI just sucks at being offensive and generates ATB slow
wtf is auto cast unique ability, like will Red actually do his defense gimmick and cast vengence+ drain fang or w/e it's called by himself?
Anonymous
Yes. They will auto-do their unique Triangle shit, but specifically also includes Tifa using ATB on Unbridled Strength. I am not sure if Aerith will warp around though, I would assume so but you would definitely need to place the ward yourself. There is auto cast weapon ability which should however place the ward automatically with ATB
This is LITERALLY the only reason why I play this game. Apparently full party control is something devs are scared of and they keep pussying out with "you only control one character" cope.
Yup. Left to their own devices they will just do basic attacks and block.
This game on the outside might look like Kingdom Hearts, FFXV, or Strangers of Paradise; but with FF7R the combat is built around you contsantly switching party member to make the most of their ATB bars, if you stick to one character you'r basically only using 1/3rd of your party's full potential
>Chadley is a cyborg connected to the internet, created his own AI >Hojo uploads himself to the internet before he dies which is how he was still around in DoC
They're going to do something with this aren't they
So will dynamic be harder than normal as long as I'm vaguely competent at video games? One of my biggest issues with Remake and XVI were how easy they both were.
I don't understand why the team is helping Chadly. He's Hojo's frickboi. Hojo literally uploads his mind into Weiss. It's obvious that he's going to become Chadley down the road.

>Cloud arrives first >Cloud THINKS he blocked Sephiroth's attack >Cloud THINKS Aerith is just passed out while he fights Jenova >The rest of the party members arrive and see a dead Aerith and Jenova, they fight with Cloud >All the crazy stuff involving Zack and Sephiroth happen inside Cloud's head >The party members AND Cloud also burry Aerith off screen >Cloud supresses this and is daydreaming all that nonsense >Aerith is in the final cutscenes while everyone is sad because she's dead, Cloud is seeing a dead person in his head. Red 13 only senses Aerith because his kind are closer to the Lifestream/Planet >When Cloud says farewell to ghost Aerith he thinks she's going back to pray for Holy at the pedestal where she died
It is poorly executed way of saying Cloud lost his mind like the original game. It's not complicated, Cloud is insane in OG FF7 and FF7 Remake, even Barret picks up on this in the ending of Remake Part 2 by sizing up Cloud's mental state before they take off in the Tiny Bronco.
Did you people not watch Advent Children where Ghost Aerith could communicate with Cloud, help him during the Sin Bahamut fight, heal him of Geostigma, and play with some kids at the end of the movie?

AC is how they see the story ending and it hasn't changed, the only thing they might change is defeating sephiroth for good, but that would prevent spinoffs.

There is no defeating Sephiroth for good, he and Aerith are intrinsic to the planet.
Could be both? Like, her ghost is there and Cloud thinks she's not a ghost. Considering what happens in disc 2, it makes more narrative sense for Cloud just to be a schizo, plus, force ghost Aerith that keeps popping up every ten minutes is moronic
The scene where she "wakes up" is set in an AU where she survives. The post-burial scene where Cloud sees her after a glitch is 50% schizo and 50% due to his supposed ability through realities.
>Actually, there isnt really a good explanation of why only he can see her. That's probably because he's an extension of sephiroth himself.
Cloud is seeing a lot of stuff he isnt supposed to, the lines in the sky are a good example of that.
The existence of lifestream means that afterlife exists, and no one ever really dies.

Actually, that's a tricky thing because from what we know everyone returns and becomes one with the planet in general, but then FF7 also sells the idea of a promised land, maybe the third game will elaborate more on that.
Anonymous
there is no Promised Land, it's a world without technology and humans that the Ancients lived in. Sephiroth wants to return to the "Promised Land" by destroying the planet with a giant meteor. then everyone returns to the Lifestream. Shinra don't know that and think it's some secret place with infinite Mako, it is, the planet already has Mako which they're sucking up. Aerith knows that because she's half Ancient

I do know, but i wont be surprised if they make that an actual place or setting/state at some point. Only special people like Aerith. Everyone else loses their sense of self, and becomes part of the lifestream hivemind.
You explained why Aerith is there, but that was never the question, what is happening with Cloud at the end of Rebirth is something that was never a thing in the og game. He wasnt seeing rifts between worlds in the sky.

the Lifestream is meant to be like Heaven, a place of infinite possibilities and timelines. it's where magic/materia comes from. the Remake series is an alternate timeline that expands on what exactly it is, a mindfrick basically
3 months ago

One thing i was thinking about is how in AC, nomura talks how it is not that aerith is appearing to cloud, or that he even feels her, but it is that she lives in him. And when we think how the lifestream is made of memories and that's what forms your existence in ff7's world, i think that maybe that's what's going on with the whole Zack thing.
Would also explain why the holy materia of our aerith became empty after the whispers stole her memories. The third game will go hard in this when we deal with the whole thing of Cloud's identity.
Anonymous
Yes, that's how it works, which is why Zack and Aerith finally leave at the end as he lets go of his guilt.
It's why Sephiroth was able to come back as well.
Anonymous
The issue is how things are a lot more complex this time, because Sephiroth is binded to Cloud to something beyond his current self, even after AC, when he defeats him, sephiroth can just return to a moment in the past where "a Cloud" will remember him. While any Cloud lives Sephiroth will always return.
That's why people who think things will end up the same are mistaken if i had to bet, because if they do nothing will change and this trilogy will be useless.

that's what the whole Cloud/Zack arc is about. Cloud in FF7 isn't Cloud, he's Zack but Hojo gave him Zack's memories. Cloud is finishing Zack's story thinking he's Zack even though Zack is dead in the OG. the whole series is "what if?"

My favourite thing about the Nibelheim flashback were all the moments you see the grunt that's clearly the real Cloud doing shit while the Cloud you're playing as is doing his cool Soldier shit.

I love how, in the original game, the start of the flashback has Sephiroth facing off to the side when he talks about it being your hometown, only for Cloud to enter the scene in a position that's very clearly not who Sephiroth was talking to.
It's a fantastic twist because there's so much shit you can only notice on the second playthrough. That simple aspect alone is better-executed than literally any of the embarrassing, melodramatic shit they've stapled on throughout the Compilation.

that's what makes Cloud who he is. he's some level 1 grunt and Zack is the super soldier, but Cloud became greater Zack just by caring about the planet and his team and hating Sephiroth for destroying his hometown. the fake identity became real

none of this probably makes sense to people who haven't played the OG or Crisis Core. it's a pretty simple story at the core of it

>or Crisis Core
Crisis Core doesn't really add anything to the actual characterization, though.
It's basically the proto-Remake. They took a short segment that didn't need expanding upon, and turned it into a 20-hour abomination of padding and fanfiction-tier additions.

Nomura can do whatever the frick he wants FF7 is his series since beginning.
You have it the other way round. The threads which you think of as "Ganker culture" are tourists looking to ragebait so they can screenshot and stick it on leddit/pisscord/shitter to brag about how many (you)s they got. You get caught up in these because you're low IQ, and mistake this for genuine posting.
I just got to the mythril mines and I'm sorta losing interest. I think the overworld so far just being "defeat this enemy intel, unlock this tower and tard wrangle some moogles" tired me out a bit
I like how they seem to meme Vincent a bit when he can't get the phone thingy to turn on and Cait Sith helps him. Wonder if they'll play up the "Vincent is a boomer because he's been sleeping for 30 years" angle much.
Yep, you have to beat him before he'll join you here. And he joins as a "guest" the way Red XIII did in Remake; AI-controlled only. It's why the game went out of its way to show Red XIII joining the party officially, to promote him to playable.
Can someone tell me if Cid mentions Sheva? Does Cid smoke off screen? Does Cid still curse? What's the in game reason Vincent won't fight as a party member? He's trying to recover his strength and stop from randomly transforming like his Limit Breaks in OG FF7?
I dont have the game so I can only tell from videos, but Cait can rack up stagger damage bonus more than anyone now, which in Remake was vital for nuking down bosses. So normally he'd be a part of the meta speedrun team.
However, it feels like this time around, staggering the hardest bosses isnt as easy as it was before, making it less viable? So he might just be medicore.
I just love how based Barret is. Like that quest where you have to fix Kalm's mako pipeline and he's still like "well maybe just stop using that fricking shit" instead of blindly accepting it like an NPC
She does, but in that scene Cloud was being an ass schizo thinking she's Jenova or some shit. Of course anyone would be mad if your childhood friend/love interest thinks you may be a shape shifting alien monster from outer space
This is the first time I've been on Ganker in a week. Maybe that's the case for the others, but I'm legitimately glad I didn't buy this. Dragon's Dogma 2 is going to be my PS5 game of the year so far.
That's fair, I just don't see how they deviate after going back to cetra joining the lifestream in this game. Part 3 would have to be an ungodly mess to change things now, which is far more depressing than giving a modernized retelling of OG's ending into AC's ending.
I'm having fun. Maybe because the map is small enough that it takes like 2 seconds to get from one point to the next and every activity is pretty short but for open world games and their busy work this is easily one of the best.
Part of it is alot of it leads into something else. The lifestream springs suck, but they lead to transmuter shit. The protorelic seems to be unique quests for each area. QB is great. Combat stuff is good.
OG ending. >Cloud is over his trauma and has accepted Aerith's death. All loose ends are wrapped up and meteor is defeated, The End
Advent Children > Actually, Cloud never got over anything, he's depressed over Aerith, now has Planet Aids, there's three weird maybe-spirit-clones or something it's never explained, who survived the crater some-fricking-how, they're all want Jenova who is still around somehow, and Rufus survived getting shot by a building sized energy beam from Diamond Weapon directly to the face without a single scratch because frick you.
Oh yeah...can't frickin' wait for them to steer this ship towards that iceberg
Cloud fully heals and gets over it in AC. Aerith is with Zack in the lifestream, Cloud is with Tifa and the family and he finally realizes he doesn't have to run away from love anymore due to guilt.
In og's ending Cloud was never accepting of Aerith's death. The party was just too focused on Sephiroth and Meteor to properly mourn. Eventually of course they moved on, but Cloud needs dilly shallying first.
That's not Cloud "getting over" her death
I think what anon meant is that at the end of the original game, Cloud is a much more optimistic character. Having emo Cloud afterwards feels like a total whiplash. The fact that he's portrayed like that in every media from KH afterwards doesn't help.
>at the end of the original game, Cloud is a much more optimistic character
He just got dopamine rush from omnislashing Sephiroth. Once it is done, Hollow starts playing.
In og's ending Cloud was never accepting of Aerith's death. The party was just too focused on Sephiroth and Meteor to properly mourn. Eventually of course they moved on, but Cloud needs dilly shallying first.
To be fair Cloud had more going on than just being sad about Aerith's death - people always overlook the part where he was, you know, sick and dying. Guy wasn't exactly in the best headspace.
>In og's ending Cloud was never accepting of Aerith's death.
He was, but after he contracted Space AIDs, couldn't find a cure for his adoptive shota on top of being on the road for deliveries with just him and his thoughts is what caused him to emo out.
>now has Planet Aids
Cloud with depression doesn't hurt me, I actually kinda like the "hero's epilogue where he has to grapple with the full extent of what it took to save the world."
But what fricks me up is AC basically writing a blank check for an infinite number of sequels, because now Jenova is functionally immortal and Sephiroth can keep reviving from a single atom of alien cum, despite the fact that we killed it at its heart.
>Sephiroth can keep reviving from a single atom of alien cum
It's especially hilarious when AC takes place after Holy ran a defrag on the entire planet, so the planet itself decided that Jenova and Sephiroth were worth keeping around.
Guys I just had a thought. After Elon Musk puts chips in all of our heads, when you’re swimming through the swamp area, you’ll be able to smell it too.
What? The tifa shitty beach costume spam didn't work? It's the "greatest jrpg in history", it has to sell a bazillion copies or it's a complete failure.
Remember in Advent Children how these scenes were artistic ways of expressing a character's internal monologue with himself?
No. No, now they're actually literally things that happen, where characters Doctor Who themselves through Dimension Tunnels to give Cloud a pep talk and then Frick off back to their 'Marvel What If' episode.
There's nothing about Advent Children I would've ever referred to as "artistic," even going back to the original cut.
It's a fanservice bukkake of action setpieces with no substance.
what is the canon reason that Tifa is in love with Cloud exactly in this game? She knows that Cloud is not telling the truth about his past, he is schizo as frick, he tries to kill her at least twice, and he refuses to show any sign of romantic affection towards her and Tifa also went into the lifestream and saw their childhood already.
He showed romantic affection towards her in the previous game for one. Two, he does show romantic affection towards her in this game. Three, she knows about his past.
>because they were childhood friends
It's more like they're two kids that grew up in the same town than being friends, really.
She's been pinning for him since they were kids. Never got over it, no matter how many times Cloud acts like a dangerous schizophrenic butthole.
You have to take account that every girl is out for his wiener. Somehow.

asked the canon reason and I answered.

Which one kicks a bomb and has their head blown off?
Why is Square so obsessed with tie-in media? XV crashed because of this shit, they tried to make a multi-media expanded universe before the game itself even fricking released.
They wouldn't have to raise the price of everything and churn out so much shit if they'd just stick to a reasonable budget and make good games within their limits. Or barring that, lower the prices on their own store, because every single fricking item on their merch store is so obscenely overpriced that I can't imagine even the most braindead normies falling for it.
Because it worked for the original FF7. They've been trying to do it again ever since.

No it didn't. They shut down the Compilation because it didn't move numbers in any respectable capacity. The sum total of all of the Compilation shit, between all of the games and books, didn't even reach the numbers of the mediocre mainline games like III and XII.
AC was at least accessible because it was 90 minutes of mindless action schlock. Before Crisis was locked to japanese phones and has basically disappeared from the face of the earth, Crisis Core is a retcon-filled mess that only KH secondaries care about, and Dirge of Cerberus is one of the most embarrassing games ever released by a AAA studio.
They threw this shit in the garbage for over a decade. The only reason they're trying to revive the Compilation is because they're completely and totally out of ideas. XV demolished the franchise's brand, KH3 killed any interest in Kingdom Hearts, and their publishing ventures almost exclusively bombed critically. Even their gacha are crashing and burning after the non-stop slew of EoS announcements that have scared off all of the whales.

>Crisis Core is a retcon-filled mess that only KH secondaries
Crisis Core is probably the most well received of the Compilation titles purely because almost everyone seems to love Zack to the point they're willing to put up with all the other nonsense in the game.

And yet it barely broke 2m sales and left no lasting impact, despite being attached to a property that practically reshaped the face of the industry.
FF7 is one of the most comically mismanaged properties in gaming. At least Silent Hill has the decency to publicly embarrass Konami; Square just keeps trucking in spite of this being their second failed attempt at making an expanded universe.

Yeah, I'd prefer to see Square keep making brand new things instead of whatever the frick they've been trying to do with FF7
>Now that i'm thinking about it, it will be funny to see how every time we play from Cloud's POV in the third game we'll see the sky all fricked up.
He will get more and more insane and the sky more and more fricked up.
I can't wait to see how Nomura pulls off the spectacle of Cloud's declining mental state in part 3. I can see it now - the UI glitching out, the game starting to look like Cruelty Squad but with 500x the budget. Kino to the max.
I was surprised by how violent they made him at the final sections of rebirth, the guy was unhinged and violent as frick, i cant imagine how he will act in the third game if he has no sense of reality left.
>I was surprised by how violent they made him at the final sections of rebirth, the guy was unhinged and violent as frick, i cant imagine how he will act in the third game if he has no sense of reality left.
The last hours of Rebirth are just Barret looking at Cloud with a baffled face.
At this point i wont be surprised if Cloud starts seeing dead wandering souls in general, people who died but cant return to the planet for obvious reasons.
So I was thinking of getting this game and playing it now after playing the remake, but when I was going to buy it, I saw they remade Crisis Core. I hadn't heard shit about it, so I had no idea they even remade it. Should I play through it first? Is it even good? I'm a little surprised I completely missed them remaking it.
>Zack and Aerith are about to get married >Cloud admits to Zack that he fricked Aerith >Zack takes it surprisingly well, and agrees to go in the cuckshed every Friday night
>The promised land means something different to each person. Described as a land of happiness means each person would have their own interpretation of its location. As told from Aerith's perspective in Hoshi o Meguru Otome, Sephiroth's promised land is the North Crater because he could become a god there, while the Cetra who worshiped the planet saw the lifestream as the promised land. Thus, the promised land may not be a specific location, but a state of mind to find "eternal happiness" wherever possible.
>usually hate open world games and their pointless busywork and planned on just doing the main story and nothing else >have spent the last 5 hours completely ignoring the main story and just dicking around in the world doing tasks
How did they do it?
turns out that you need good characters, music and good battle system to carry open world busy work
thats why games like assassins creed fail so much, they dont have any of that
To be fair the quests are also good, also the fact i give a shit about ff7's world also helps. I dont care about the world of any ubisoft open world game.
>FFXVI open world >you avoid the enemies because 1. they barely give you exp, they are extremely tanky and they barely give you items (theres barely items)
>FFVII rebirth open world >you fight every single enemy because get decent exp, ap for materias, crafting items for armor, mist potions and other good shit
>Did you see the part where Cloud starts breaking the demon wall with pure rage, lol >That dude is in defcon 5
Barret's reactions are so fricking funny
Aerith leaving the party to fix things by herself makes so much sense because you can see her despair when she sees Cloud getting crazier and crazier as things go on.
The original is more extreme because it goes from 0 to 100 out of nowhere. I think Rebirth does a better job in showcasing this slow progression of his insanity.
we needed rebirth to understand that aerith left the party at the temple of the ancients because cloud was getting crazier and crazier and aerith basically said "frick it, im doing this alone" to protect cloud from going crazy
in the og nobody figured that shit out and everyone was just like "she just left because she wantd to...die i guess?"
the changes to the combat is so fricking good.
Not him, but combat is a lot smoother in general, and there's a lot more to it like air combos and synergy attacks.
more combo opportunities since some characters actually have launchers and you have actual air combos where you can also link up certain ability attacks.
holding down your attack button also does a different attack as well which you can mix up in your standard combo.
and like what the other anon mentioned, synergy attacks (basically attack with another character) can also be used in combos as well.
its no DMC or bayonetta but it definitely feels more actiony compared to Remake. it really is a substantial change.
ive noticed that the enemy is tankier / does more damage as well so thats a plus
also ATB is slower to get, thats also a plus, it makes you use your ATB in a more smart way
There are m elemental abilities now so you're not forced to wait for blizzard to explode. They're weaker though since they don't use mp.
>Cloud gets more moves
>weaker elemental attacks but cost no MP, so if you need to apply pressure its there. Just having these also increases the damage of the real element
>Synergy Attacks, which are offensive, defensive or support type things that cost no ATB
>Synergy Abilities, which you can use after 2 characters both use 3 ATB slots. Think of it as a 2 person mini Limit Break that also applies a buff like unlimited MP or increase Limit Break level aka you can use higher ranks like Catastrophe at the start
>movement in general is faster/more responsive
>really good new materia to fill in gaps, like using items without ATB or auto-cast unique abilities aka Tifa will use Unbridled Strength automatically with atb or Barret will use Overchange
Couple hours in and i cant get into synergy attacks. Still playing it like remake but maining barret
It feels like worse KH.
I was already impressed by the team up moves but the quick synergy attacks are fricking dope. I love Barret just shooting bullets while Cloud bats em
It's worse than xv
I love the changes aswell! Im SO glad SE stands on the side of the LGBT community!

Seek Christ. Let go of your anger and hate. It's only a burden to you and stopping you from your potential and your happiness.
>Seek Christ.

How many gays are there? Looks like that one article that everyone coped wasn't real turned out to be right.
And it's going to be really funny seeing people who tried to hype FF7 Rebirth as "anti-woke" just because of a mild bikini scene suddenly have to constantly defend stuff like this now.
With 16 and this game Square was trying to push ESG shit. Now Japan completely got rid of ESG so we'll see if Square keeps pushing it next game.
Apocalyptic late stage capitalist dystopia has lots of LGBTs. Checks out.
Weimar Germany ended in fire and death of its people. Same will happen to the people of our time who promote this.
I saw one of them use the word slay and immediately ran away.
Not being in a hallway with yellow guidelines is too much for him
The ending is about multiverses coming together like a Marvel film.
I'm not joking
It's moronic
it's hecking epic and wholesome chudley
This
The game is made for zoomers who liked the MCU movies
so incredibly moronic goddamn I hate japan and their subverting expectations trend
This is really stupid, just show her getting stabbed instead of this safe-violence shit
LMAOOO WHAT IS THIS SHIT
Why is she just sitting there? Is it a time freeze?
It was quite sudden in the original so I understood why she didn't move and Cloud didn't do anything
>original had impact because it was so sudden.
>waste ton of time and don't even show her being stabbed.
Frick off.
How can ANYONE claim to be a fan of FF7 while clapping at this relentless butchering of the most iconic moment in FF?
we're not, we hate the butchered story but this is the turd we're getting.
the only people applauding this homosexualry are redditors and youtubers
VGH, what a kinotastic reimagining of the classic scene...
People complain about rebuild , but i think this is even worse.
>so what if we made the scene longer
>and then wasted everyone's time by making her get stabbed anyway
>but we don't show the stab!
>nomura: brilliant
$70 well saved. Hopefully DD2 won't be terrible.
this scene is actually kind of better than the old
Sure, in bizarro earth
I guess you have to be used to japanese conventions or something, to understand what is supposed to have happened here. Sword goes into ground a dozen feet away from girl,
girl dies. It's like that first samurai movie where the sword shuffles awkwardly 3ft behind the dude and the blood sprays out
You missed the part where Sephiroth uses his jannies to switch reality
In the same way he pulls out Gilgamesh from another dimension
>marvel invented multiverses
Bro this is nomura
if you're referring to Kingdom Hearts, it in fact does NOT have multiverses.
ZackChads where you at?
I can’t believe the CLOUD YOU HAVE TO FRICK MY GIRLFRIEND memes came true
Did they bring the fricking flip phones from Advent Children back?
That's from Crisis Core which always had flip phones.
called it. why else would they put in the ghosts just to kill(?) them at the end of the first game. think i saw a screenshot of them coming back anyway
This has been Nomura's shtick for decades now, little bro.
That doesn't mean it's not moronic. In fact it also ruined kingdom hearts
That's so fricking annoying that they got rid of Birth of a God
No shit. The whole concept of Remake is to throw all the compilation shit together into one giant turd
if you expected any different after the events of Remake and especially Intergrade you're more moronic than any Nomura asspull
GATTO...
That's not really "Gold" Saucer in the background, right?
Kek youre right
Holy frick SE is so incompetent
I get it's day time which doesn't do the place justice, but it wasn't supposed to just be George Jetson and his neighbors. I didn't like the changes to Midgar either. Other than Cloud and Zack's hair being less dramatic, they did nail all the characters though.
Jrpg is such a dogshit genre, Jesus. I respect a lot japan for its arcade and gameplay-centric games, but not shit like this
Legit the best final fantasy game of all time
no. that title still belongs to strangers
of paradise.
no youre not
I'd pay 100k for Tifa haha
Same. Outside of some shoddy "use the meme trigger" moments and the stupid vacuuming mako shit it's been all great. Just seeing the characters more and fleshing them all out has been great. Kalm was kino.
Cait Sith fans finally getting to eat good for once!
Relatively, but I do wish they went in the direction of saying Cait is alive.
It's been 45 years, our boy is finally getting the respect he deserves. Maybe people will stop calling him cat Shit all the time.
Who should be the most hated character now? I'm going with Zack.
He changed the faces of Avalanche in the Shinra computers to make it harder to find them. He's a good guy from the start.
I know Reeve is on their side, just saying it'd make more sense if he is aware of the subterfuge that Shinra wants him to do with his toy and "team" but is probably having them go against the grain of upper management.
Any way of short hand explaining how this 'toy bot".
when Reeve is concentrating on a meeting in Midgar, Cait Sith loses concentration at the Temple of the Ancients.
Still wondering why they showed Cait in Remake just because of a reaction; rather than keeping it a surprise til Saucer.
Because they expect you to have already played the original moron.
And that's completely understandable. But, out of context, it's just a random ass cat that isn't connected to anything reacting to the plate drop.
But it's not out of context. That's a redundant statement.
CAT SHE is the correct pronounciation.
cool, im waiting for pc release
Can i pirate the 1st one? I have both on PS5 but want to see how much better on pc. I have a 3070ti and 12700
I don't know, can you?
I spoiled myself on the ending after I began to find the game was getting tedious and I was just not enjoying the mess of busywork. I am definitely not dumping a shitload of time into the game just to see that shitshow.
In six months time this game will be reviled as a symbol of everything wrong with AAA development, screencap this.
No. Nobody gives a frick what you think.
You replied quickly enough to suggest otherwise. Enjoy your crawling QTEs and tower chasing.
just post gato sexo ffs
Barely anyone is drawing any art of him. Maybe more will come once the game has been out longer.
Cait has like 4 good pictures, it's bizarre for a character this old to have such little good art.
The more I see of Rebirth, the more I realize my biggest problem with XVI is it having a massive stick up it's ass and taking itself way too seriously.
CUTE AND FUNNY CAT!!
Why are there multiple timelines?
Because Nomura is a fricking dipshit hack with zero talent
Is anyone’s autism triggering with how janky the traversal actions are? For me it destroys my motivation to explore with how bad it looks. I can’t wrap my head around how a major studio put a pass on this. These animations look worse than an outsourced third world company.
Is it possible to level grind like I can in the old games like on the SNES or am I stuck just fighting enemies every 15 minutes after a bunch of walking around and story?
REEEE pc version when?
October of next year
Yuffie's first kiss...
but ive kissed her multiple times before, shes my wife
who the frick is that kissing her?
How does the dialogue options work. Is there always 1 best option that raises it a lot, 1 ok option that raises it a bit and one bad option that lowers it?
pretty much
What does it matter, you can't even import your save from game to game. Literally nothing you do or whatever relationship you "deepen" will revert back to baseline in part 3. Useless bells and whistles.
>Literally nothing you do matters and whatever relationship you "deepen" will revert back to baseline in part 3.
Fixed.
Poor guy..
>playing demakes
GOTY for sure
So rufus will kill glenn in ever crisis gacha game?
Probably but Glenn was already wearing a black cape in that flashback so who knows. What a shitshow.
You posted this exact pic yesterday. I know because that one also had 'state of play' written on it.
Don't you have your own screenshots?
I fully expect most if not everything in this game to be explorable again in part 3.
Well, Ganker? Was she right?
>>If we see the whispers acting the same as part 1
well they werent
good discussion
But they did.
>Aerith used her Mystery Wiggas to stop him from stopping Aerith in the Sleeping Forest
>They let Cloud in to see Aerith at the Forgotten Citu
>Sephi used his Mystery homies to force Cloud to kill her
>He breaks free, stops Sephi, but Sephi used world merging haxx so he wins
>If we see the whispers acting the same as part 1
So not the same as part 1. Glad you agree.
Explain how they're not the same.
In part 1 they work specifically to keep the timeline in check. In part 2 they don't do that. What are you struggling to understand here?
Then why'd they only let Cloud through to see Aerith? Or why stop him chasing after her in the Sleeping Forest?
Have you even played the game?
I asked first.
Why'd they only let Cloud through to see Aerith? Or why stop him chasing after her in the Sleeping Forest?
So no is the answer I'm getting here. Next time don't get your information from out of context webms you see posted on Ganker and maybe you'll realize the game literally answers your questions for you. Fricking moron.
I'll take that as a concession.
Sure, you've made it clear enough that you're just a shitposter and not actually looking to discuss anything. Why would you think I'd give enough of a shit to argue with you?
>you've made it clear enough that you're just a shitposter
Ironic, Jimbo.

Frick Nomura
Thats all I have to say.
Is it me or is the game oddly...I dunno, grey? Even the grasslands just seem oddly devoid of color.
It seemed really vibrant when I first stepped out of Kalm but everywhere else it seems kind of washed out or overexposed, I have a shit tv though. Not 4k
You probably drive a Ford Fiesta.
I've only watched some gameplay, but Chadley seems annoying as shit in this game. Unless he shuts the frick up at some point.
It's mainly the outdoor/old world map areas
I refuse to beat summons on anything but full might
and im at junon and i cant beat titan wtf hes so fricking strong
and i still need revive
If I was you I wouldn't bother. This game wasn't made to reward skill it rewards grind. Titasn on the hardest is long and tedious and if you frick up like 3 times its over. If this game didn't have a homosexual break system then it would be better
the reward is my own fun
>homosexual break system
stagger system is great though.
>the reward is my own fun
Its not fun
>stagger system is great though.
it's terrible meant to pad out battles
there are two ways to handle fights in action games and a way to interact with the enemy: stagger system or hitstops
hitstops makes the action be more button mashy to keep the enemy stunned and more about juggling and making combos as fast as possible

Going through the Nibelheim flashback, right after a segment with Zack while the games aren't even bothering with the mystery surrounding Cloud feels so utterly bizarre.
i think its more about how the characters act and react rather than work around the twist, the conversation of tifa and aerith / cloud and tifa after the flashback is proof of it
the game just assumes you played 7 and that's the entire conceit of the series
It assumes you've played everything with Intergrade having DoC shit and Rebirth with garbage from the Ever Crisis mobile game.
Who's the superboss in the game this time around? Is it Gilgamesh?
This post will contain spoilers.
Frick this game, frick Kitase, FRICK Nojima, and you know what? Frick Nomura for letting this happen.
>Source: trust me bro
This is one of the only sensible replies in any of the FF7 threads since this game dropped. The fricking morons don't realize that all of this is being done for a huge climax in Part 3.
And frankly if that doesn't happen, I'll eat my hat.
It's obvious to those of us who are intimately familiar with the 97 original. The hints are everywhere, all throughout Remake and now Rebirth
>but Cloud represses it
bro, your timelines?
Red herrings. Rebirth ends the multiple timelines. Pay attention.
sure
He's dead, bro. That's his afterlife and he's talking about reuniting with (also dead) Aerith. Have you not seen Advent Children?
I have. Didn't think I'd still see this 'it's lifestream' cope after this game, though.
The lifestream is the literal deus ex machina from which Aerith casts Holy in the original game. It's almost its own character. It's incredibly important to the way things play out.
This conversation only proves that brainlets have never actually understood FF7. No wonder they dumbed it down.
>original game
irrelevant
Fellowship of the Ring is also irrelevant to The Two Towers
That makes no sense
Remake trilogy is a sequel to the original game. Sequels are dependant on games they're following up on. Calling the original irrelevant is what makes no sense. Pay attention.
I know its an sequel that they changed the entire points of the original for no reason, whatever is defined in the original bear no relevance on what they can do now, they can pull lifestream is the true enemy for the third game
He's comparing trilogies, where the first movie is essentially set up while the second movie is more about dynamic moments.
Yeah but they remade what the OG is for the game by changing fundamental aspects on what happens and what kind of characters are in there
Remake is not a Remake. It's not "Final Fantasy 7 Remake". It's "Final Fantasy 7: Remake". They didn't "remake" anything. It's a SEQUEL to the original 1997 game.
Well its my last (you) to your baits, but its a remake and sequel of OG with time travelling sephiroth and mulltiple timelines that rewrote entire characters not because its a sequel but because they could
>not because its a sequel but because they could
More like it IS, AND because they could because it was their plan from the start.
>Yet even the most resilient worlds are doomed to fade. Nevertheless, their loss is not to be mourned.
>For it is not death, but a homecoming that awaits them. In the planet's embrace, all life is as one.
Sephiroth says the worlds die and go back to the lifestream but oh no they are already the lifestream itself? Makes no sense.
Sounds more like (you) aren't paying attention, anon.
>I believe everything Sephiroth tells me
Ok, Cloud. Now hurry up with that Black Materia
He hasn't lied yet.
fake memories corrupted by the lifestream
Lifestream don't make fake memories
I am critical, but I also want the game and the sequel to succeed. Some things are worth pointed out though.
I mean, the game does have a good share of flaws, which honestly is to be expected because it's a pretty fricking massive game, especially considering it's part 2 of 3. Remake seemed a bit short in retrospect, but that also may have been because there was no real world map to wander about. That's something I'm really happy with in Rebirth.
It's an ambitious series, and I absolutely hope they don't drop the ball on the finale. The ball has been dropped WAY too many times in the recent history of Square-Enix, but they also have had some bangers (the conclusion of some of the storylines in FFXIV, for one.) Fingers crossed it all is going to be worth it.
>but I also want the game and the sequel to succeed

>Just wait for part 3 bro!

Can i get combat tips? I just play as Cloud am I supposed to be switching to everyone? there's a lot of crap going on at once and idk if to use those team sync abilities or summons or limit breaks or magic or wtf do i even do
>I just play as Cloud am I supposed to be switching to everyone?
yes
>I just play as Cloud am I supposed to be switching to everyone?
Yes; this isn't Kingdom Hearts, switching characters is how you make the most of their abilities.
Haven't played Rebirth yet but I'm sure it works like Remake; unless the enmy is stagered your normal attacks will cause borderline chip-damage, so you'll need to rely on abailities that consume ATB to either cause big damage or increase Stagger.
I'm constantly switching after using one or two ABT abilities; you get the hang of it in no time
I don't get it do the other 2 party members just auto attack and nothing else unless YOU control them? I thought they did ATB attacks themselves?
Exactly. You're supposed to control the entire party.
They don't.
They do if you use Auto-Cast, Auto-Cast Unique Ability or Auto-Cast Weapon Skills. The problem is the AI just sucks at being offensive and generates ATB slow
Those materia make the game so much more fun to play and stop it from feeling like a one man show.
wtf is auto cast unique ability, like will Red actually do his defense gimmick and cast vengence+ drain fang or w/e it's called by himself?
Chadley has the unique ability one IIRC in junon
its a party based game, not a one characters + supports ARPG
use everyone at the same time, if that makes sense
This is LITERALLY the only reason why I play this game. Apparently full party control is something devs are scared of and they keep pussying out with "you only control one character" cope.
Yup. Left to their own devices they will just do basic attacks and block.
This game on the outside might look like Kingdom Hearts, FFXV, or Strangers of Paradise; but with FF7R the combat is built around you contsantly switching party member to make the most of their ATB bars, if you stick to one character you'r basically only using 1/3rd of your party's full potential
I never shidded and farded myself over AC's visuals when it came out. I always thought these characters looked awful. We're so much better off now.
Part 3's ending btw.

Based video game enjoyer. So far every game that vee told me was shit this year ended up being kino (yakuza 8, tekken, persona 3 remake, this). Funnily enough not a SINGLE ONE on the switch, really makes me think how it's a weird coincidence that all this games get super high scores and AINT on switch and the board shit posts them to hell. >All the crazy stuff involving Zack and Sephiroth happen inside Cloud's head
>The party members AND Cloud also burry Aerith off screen
>Cloud supresses this and is daydreaming all that nonsense
>Aerith is in the final cutscenes while everyone is sad because she's dead, Cloud is seeing a dead person in his head. Red 13 only senses Aerith because his kind are closer to the Lifestream/Planet
>When Cloud says farewell to ghost Aerith he thinks she's going back to pray for Holy at the pedestal where she died
He's talking to her soul. For all intents and purposes she's communicating from the promised land which is heaven.
Did you people not watch Advent Children where Ghost Aerith could communicate with Cloud, help him during the Sin Bahamut fight, heal him of Geostigma, and play with some kids at the end of the movie?
This is not the same thing, Cloud is talking to her like she's alive
I did not watch advent children
these games are a sequel to it
moron
>b-but the devs say
lol
he is right
Anon, he's right, this game confirmed AC is where we are headed. I hope we get Cloud's outfit from AC next game.
>this game confirmed [headcanon]
>lifestream ghost aerith
>cloud has aids and is talking to aerith's ghost
>tifa just wants him to come home
AC is how they see the story ending and it hasn't changed, the only thing they might change is defeating sephiroth for good, but that would prevent spinoffs.
There is no defeating Sephiroth for good, he and Aerith are intrinsic to the planet.
Not even remotely canon.
She is there in the lifestream but Cloud is also losing his mind, just look at how they treat him after the fight.
>The scene where she "wakes up" is set in [headcanon]
There is no AU where she survives, that's the whole point. Cloud is getting whiffs of lifestream and going schizo.
She returned to the Lifestream, Cloud can see her because he has Mako and Jenova cells flowing through him
same reason he can see Zack when fighting Sephiroth in the Lifestream who has the same
Actually, there isnt really a good explanation of why only he can see her. That's probably because he's an extension of sephiroth himself.
>Actually, there isnt really a good explanation of why only he can see her. That's probably because he's an extension of sephiroth himself.
Cloud is seeing a lot of stuff he isnt supposed to, the lines in the sky are a good example of that.
How is that a good explanation
the explanation is how the Lifestream works. at the end of OG FFVII Aerith saves the planet from the Lifestream because she's still "out there"
The existence of lifestream means that afterlife exists, and no one ever really dies.
What's not confirmed is whether your consciousness stay there as your own person or whether it merges with the others and eventually reincarnate.
>The existence of lifestream means that afterlife exists, and no one ever really dies.
Not if they get sucked up into a Mako Reactor and covered into energy for some dude to light his room
>The existence of lifestream means that afterlife exists, and no one ever really dies.
>What's not confirmed is whether your consciousness stay there as your own person or whether it merges with the others and eventually reincarnate.
Actually, that's a tricky thing because from what we know everyone returns and becomes one with the planet in general, but then FF7 also sells the idea of a promised land, maybe the third game will elaborate more on that.
there is no Promised Land, it's a world without technology and humans that the Ancients lived in.
Aerith literally says in FF7 at Cosmo Canyon that the Promised Land is returning to the planet
I do know, but i wont be surprised if they make that an actual place or setting/state at some point. Because that promised land shit is something they keep repeating for more than 20 years, and not even restricted to shinra's lies. But it keeps being repeated as a place where cloud would meet aerith again.
UUUUGH WHY COULDN'T THIS JUST BE FF17 INSTEAD TAINTING 7 WITH THIS BULLSHIT??
That was always part of FF7 moron
>FF7
>Having an afterlife society
Wrong.
Yes, that's how it works, which is why Zack and Aerith finally leave at the end as he lets go of his guilt.
It's why Sephiroth was able to come back as well.
He's not exactly Zack, but larping as what he thinks a cool hero/SOLDIER like Zack should act. Its a charade meant to mimic Jrpg players larping as the characters they play as.

He's trying to recover his strength and stop from randomly transforming like his Limit Breaks in OG FF7?
so what's the best party in this game. is cait sith actually good now?
I dont have the game so I can only tell from videos, but Cait can rack up stagger damage bonus more than anyone now, which in Remake was vital for nuking down bosses. So normally he'd be a part of the meta speedrun team.
However, it feels like this time around, staggering the hardest bosses isnt as easy as it was before, making it less viable? So he might just be medicore.
I hate these games so much. the remakes have absolutely zero confidence in themselves. it's pathetic.
I have never seen a gameplay webm posted of this game.
it came out 3 hours ago
>unfinished game - part 2
maybe if you are trans
I hope whoever came up with the idea for Queen's Blood gets AIDS. And that the AIDS then gets infected with cancer.
>too dumb for a baby board game
Shit's easy man. Also super fun.
I'm starting to wonder if I'm moronic. I can't beat any of the rank 3 people, and I'm seeing that 40% of players have the trophy.
Just push forward bro. You can easily win by just not giving them space to put anything down
Filtered
that took too many times
How do you respond, Ganker?
Is this the only place where she says that in the game? like, before the sleeping forest scene?
do i do english voices or japanese voices
writing is cringe either way
if you have to even ask this question then you should just play dubbed because you obviously aren't discerning
The Japanese voice acting is much better, but the game has dubtitles so you'll frequently find the subs not matching what's being said in Japnaese.
pity about the ending
Grasslands:
>Activate Tower
>win easy "challenges"
>Scan Crystals
>Scan Summon Crystals
>Stealth Chocobos
>Dig up chips
Junon:
>Activate Tower
>win easy "challenges"
>Scan Crystals
>Scan Summon Crystals
>Stealth Chocobos
>Dig up chips
Because it's fricking stupid to anyone above room temp IQ.
Nah your samegayging is obvious schizo. You literally word your posts the exact same way every single time too
I just love how based Barret is. Like that quest where you have to fix Kalm's mako pipeline and he's still like "well maybe just stop using that fricking shit" instead of blindly accepting it like an NPC
does Tifa love Cloud or not?
>aerith in remake
>don't fall in love with me because it's not real
Yes, Cloud loves Tifa, he's just a mess of mako and cetra bullshit.
Also, no shit Tifa loves Cloud but he's going crazy and acting like a c**t at times.
Tifa loves Johny, not cloud.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is going to be my PS5 game of the year so far.
this is literally the first time I see the webm yet you quoted me, have a nice day troony
Sony looking at all of Marvel post Endgame and going "*WE* should do a Multiverse too! No one could get tired of that!"
It's not even going to be multiverse like that, the whole point is that every timeline has fixed points that can't be changed.
>fate and destiny are no guarantee
>I know you’ll come and find me
You gays said this game would completely deviate after remake's ending.
So, when part 3 ends the same way AC does, don't get mad about it.
I won’t be, I just think it’s fun to theorize.
That's fair, I just don't see how they deviate after going back to cetra joining the lifestream in this game. Part 3 would have to be an ungodly mess to change things now, which is far more depressing than giving a modernized retelling of OG's ending into AC's ending.
Oh after this, it's a guarantee no one's going to bat for 7R anymore other than marketers and contrarians.
More than likely they came up with it in 2014-2016 when this stuff was still popular. Game development takes too long to keep up with trends.
They already did that with Dissidia back in 2008.
What the frick do I do with Barret? He just seems ass. I've been using just cloud red and tifa so far
I feel bad for the new generation of youth that have to grow up with all the shitty artwork of tifa's new outfit
This repetitive busy work bros....every map will be digging up chips, towers, capturing chocobos and gathering chips huh?
The duality of man
I'm having fun.
Combat stuff is good.
the side content is too good
I don't even know what I'm supposed to be doing in the main quest
Follow the blacked robe guys.. that’s kind of this whole game. But thanks to that characters themselves get a lot of opportunity to shine.
In every timelines and universes, Aerith is the most beautiful.
So true, i love my beautiful wife Aerith
canonically blacked
Are you and your wife waiting for marriage for sex?
Yes, just like god intended
Her name is Aeris.
You sure?
Even in the OG if you hack or glitch the game to skip the scene of her joining and thus don't name her, her name defaults to Aerith.
Sure, and Saber's name is Altria
It is, that's how it's always been romainzed in Japan. It's moronic but that doesn't mean it's incorrect.
KWAB
do clotigays really think this is a great love story?
>flashed breasts twice
>still got beaten
Why is Tifa like this?
Why would you think shippers care about anything other than the end result?
Love. It’s what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.
OG ending.
>Cloud is over his trauma and has accepted Aerith's death. All loose ends are wrapped up and meteor is defeated, The End
Advent Children
> Actually, Cloud never got over anything, he's depressed over Aerith, now has Planet Aids, there's three weird maybe-spirit-clones or something it's never explained, who survived the crater some-fricking-how, they're all want Jenova who is still around somehow, and Rufus survived getting shot by a building sized energy beam from Diamond Weapon directly to the face without a single scratch because frick you.
Oh yeah...can't frickin' wait for them to steer this ship towards that iceberg
Cloud fully heals and gets over it in AC. Aerith is with Zack in the lifestream, Cloud is with Tifa and the family and he finally realizes he doesn't have to run away from love anymore due to guilt.
getting over her death in less than a month was never realistic
I think what anon meant is that at the end of the original game, Cloud is a much more optimistic character. Having emo Cloud afterwards feels like a total whiplash. The fact that he's portrayed like that in every media from KH afterwards doesn't help.
>at the end of the original game, Cloud is a much more optimistic character
He just got dopamine rush from omnislashing Sephiroth. Once it is done, Hollow starts playing.
This is more what I meant. He may *miss* her, but he no longer blames himself, and has accepted that what she did was necessary.
Exactly, he was hanging out with Aerith's force ghost because he was waiting to die. He didn't want to be around the others as he died.
>Exactly, he was [headcanon]
>In og's ending Cloud was never accepting of Aerith's death.
He was, but after he contracted Space AIDs, couldn't find a cure for his adoptive shota on top of being on the road for deliveries with just him and his thoughts is what caused him to emo out.
That's not Cloud "getting over" her death
>now has Planet Aids
*kicks you*
Guys I just had a thought. After Elon Musk puts chips in all of our heads, when you’re swimming through the swamp area, you’ll be able to smell it too.
People are talking about "spoilers" this game is like two decades old. Are people moronic? I'm confused.
plot changed
So then it's shit. LOL why would you bother with a "remake" that literally changed the game. It's slop, onto the next.
Trying too hard
Seethe harder. Eat up the next product don't ask questions just consume.
kys homosexuals, i will NEVER buy any parts if the demake no matter how much you shill it
so when does the weird motorbyke enemy from outside of midgar? my guess is corel since machine and everything
but i swear i saw him in a card, called biker
When will we get Saving Aerith DLC?
Tifa loves Aerith.
She's devastated after her death.
I keep selling my items and gear to buy Queen's Blood cards
how was Barret able to overpower Cloud at the temple? what is the point of the super-soldier cells if Cloud cant beat Barret?
barret is fricking huge dude, his finger is thicker than cloud's wrist
JENOVA mako aids can only carry a midget twink so far
what do you guys mean? no way Barret would be able to knock down Sephiroth. Moreover, Cloud should be able to overpower Barret
why? Barret is genetically and athletically super gifted at a base level, mako shit doesn't make Cloud better than that
Septhroth is a genetic freak of nature born and bred to be the greatest living humanoid weapon to ever live
Cloud for a good part of his life was a literal village boy who just happen to get injected with super alien cells very recently
Cloud can slice skyscrapers in half.
Not canon
only when he's not a schizo
the main thing is he's a 5'7 dyel so that's not a great base for mako+jenova
Barret has a literal giga homie build anon
Cloud's strength is whatever the plot needs it to be in the moment
Are synergy attacks very context sensitive? It feels like they're never available.
which synergy ones? both are always available
What? The tifa shitty beach costume spam didn't work? It's the "greatest jrpg in history", it has to sell a bazillion copies or it's a complete failure.
Yet here you are. You fricking loser.
I'm sorry you parents gave birth to you with such crippling mental disabilities. Every day must be agony for you.
why is Barret the leader of the group when he is a blue-pilled failed normalgay?
Remember in Advent Children how these scenes were artistic ways of expressing a character's internal monologue with himself?
No. No, now they're actually literally things that happen, where characters Doctor Who themselves through Dimension Tunnels to give Cloud a pep talk and then Frick off back to their 'Marvel What If' episode.
Brilliant.
>Legit paid a ton of money for theatrical re-release just to hammer that point home to players a week later
S-E's too good for this world.
There's nothing about Advent Children I would've ever referred to as "artistic," even going back to the original cut.
It's a fanservice bukkake of action setpieces with no substance.
Which is exactly why it's being tied directly into this remake series.
its just barry spam.
Man got mindbroken.
what is the canon reason that Tifa is in love with Cloud exactly in this game? She knows that Cloud is not telling the truth about his past, he is schizo as frick, he tries to kill her at least twice, and he refuses to show any sign of romantic affection towards her and Tifa also went into the lifestream and saw their childhood already.
because they were childhood friends and she knows what Cloud went through and who Zack and Sephiroth are
>because they were childhood friends
It's more like they're two kids that grew up in the same town than being friends, really.
He showed romantic affection towards her in the previous game for one. Two, he does show romantic affection towards her in this game. Three, she knows about his past.
she doesnt know shit about Cloud lmao. they even made a point of it at the start of the game
She's been pinning for him since they were kids. Never got over it, no matter how many times Cloud acts like a dangerous schizophrenic butthole.
You have to take account that every girl is out for his wiener. Somehow.
>She's been pinning for him since they were kids
wrong
*blocks your path*
>a book no on read
Its canon with Remake and written by Nojima.
asked the canon reason and I answered.
>and written by Nojima
Not that I think it would've changed much but Crisis Core was on the PSP, I know I and everyone else I knew with one back then had theirs hacked and never bought games
If they could just stick to what made the original great instead of deviating into weird shit like ghost internet Hojo or eating hair
FFX and FF14 outsold any FF7 game
Yeah, I'd prefer to see Square keep making brand new things instead of whatever the frick they've been trying to do with FF7
tbh its not really a square thing, its more like a japanese thing to make shitloads of tie-in media and then never translate it
>Why is Square so obsessed with tie-in media?
Money
>Tifa: I CAN FIX HIM!
He's chad and hot
>Chad
>Aloof and autistic
>A complete schizo
>Is a manlet
>chad
Yeah? Chadley gave him the CHAD Module
Now that i'm thinking about it, it will be funny to see how every time we play from Cloud's POV in the third game we'll see the sky all fricked up.
Which is funny because Barret is usually the one to call cloud on his bullshit but he sees Cloud so insane that he doesnt know what to do.
heres my prediction
aerith becomes a summon in part 3
Frick off, homosexual.
Where are the bioweapons in this game?
I remembered they were supposed to awaken in disc 2
They never made it to the northern creator yet in rebirth so no WEAPONS
part 3 PS6 pre-order exclusive, pay up goy
>bioweapons
Probably saving them for disk 3.
we dont even make it into the meat of disc 2 content in this game, which really starts at icicle inn.
You're lucky praise of the game requires no explanation. Only criticism of it requires heavy scrutiny before inevitable dismissal.
At this point i wont be surprised if Cloud starts seeing dead wandering souls in general, people who died but cant return to the planet for obvious reasons.
>nanaki reduced to a blood hound for that quest at the farm
dog-lion bros... not like this
So I was thinking of getting this game and playing it now after playing the remake, but when I was going to buy it, I saw they remade Crisis Core. I hadn't heard shit about it, so I had no idea they even remade it. Should I play through it first? Is it even good? I'm a little surprised I completely missed them remaking it.
>Zack and Aerith are about to get married
>Cloud admits to Zack that he fricked Aerith
>Zack takes it surprisingly well, and agrees to go in the cuckshed every Friday night
Basically nirvana.

>mmmm delicious $70 ReSlop! would you care to join me anon?
No
why is schizo sickness making Cloud a cuck?
>usually hate open world games and their pointless busywork and planned on just doing the main story and nothing else
>have spent the last 5 hours completely ignoring the main story and just dicking around in the world doing tasks
How did they do it?
turns out that you need good characters, music and good battle system to carry open world busy work
thats why games like assassins creed fail so much, they dont have any of that
To be fair the quests are also good, also the fact i give a shit about ff7's world also helps. I dont care about the world of any ubisoft open world game.
i wouldnt call them that good, but they are definitely more involved now
so much of this shit people are spewing seems like complete headcanon
>FFXVI open world
>you avoid the enemies because 1. they barely give you exp, they are extremely tanky and they barely give you items (theres barely items)
>FFVII rebirth open world
>you fight every single enemy because get decent exp, ap for materias, crafting items for armor, mist potions and other good shit
XVI wasn't open world.
If we're going that route neither is FF7
FF16's world is so fricking weird because they didnt succeed in making a full action game nor rpg. It is a weird mix that doesnt work.
Did you see the part where Cloud starts breaking the demon wall with pure rage, lol
That dude is in defcon 5
>Did you see the part where Cloud starts breaking the demon wall with pure rage, lol
>That dude is in defcon 5
Barret's reactions are so fricking funny
>Ay yo wtf this blond white boi is fricking crazy
Aerith leaving the party to fix things by herself makes so much sense because you can see her despair when she sees Cloud getting crazier and crazier as things go on.
In the original she left when he beat the shit out of her, so yeah, it makes sense.
The original is more extreme because it goes from 0 to 100 out of nowhere. I think Rebirth does a better job in showcasing this slow progression of his insanity.
I mean they've been building it up since part 1
Yeah, the og is my favorite game of all time, but there are things that can be better executed if you have more time.
Both Zack and Aerith are in the lifestream. They are both dead. There are no splits timeline.
>muh animal chips logo
collectors bait
how will Tifa save Cloud?
Aerith will unironically guide and protect her. It was a thing even in the og game but a lot of people didnt notice that.
Like in the original hopefully. We'll probably get the same thing but more moronic and amped to the max.
we needed rebirth to understand that aerith left the party at the temple of the ancients because cloud was getting crazier and crazier and aerith basically said "frick it, im doing this alone" to protect cloud from going crazy
in the og nobody figured that shit out and everyone was just like "she just left because she wantd to...die i guess?"
does anyone else get some serious "incel" vibes from Cloud?
So Jenova is the antagonist the entire time in Rebirth right? Larping as Seph?
Its Sephiroth using Jenova cells
Queen's Blood is kino.
Music is really good too
