I Kill Trevor, Everytime

So why exactly is it Ganker loves him so much and considers him the pinnacle of video game storytelling and characterization?
He is objectively the worst character in GTA5 and arguably in the entire history of GTA.

Growing up is realizing every almost character in every Rockstar game is bad and their writing is terrible. This felt the most true with GTA V because they had to split the main character into 3 — and they made every one unlikable except for the Black person who was just boring

I’m boring IRL though so Franklin kinda worked as a self-insert.

yeah out of all the protags in GTA I still think Niko is the best, and I say that as a boomer that played the original on PS1 the week it came out

He’s over the top and can at least be entertaining in some way. Also you lose out on content if you kill him. If you like the game and want more game then you should keep him alive. If you are done after the credits roll then it doesn’t matter what you do really.

I never play as Michael or Trevor anyway. I instantly switch to Franklin whenever possible and only switch to Michael and Trevor in order to complete mandatory critical path storymissions you have to do as them.

i don't care for him either but i'm not going to kill him because some last minute villain in the game tells me too which is why i always pick the third way.

The FIB is telling you to, you are serving your country and your government. In addition you get an extra $30 million for Franklin and Michael since Trevor’s $60 million from the Union Depository heist gets split between them after his death.

Dumbass, you’re serving Haines’ interest, he gets Dave fired and shunned by pinning all of his own mistakes on the man after Ending A.

I replayed this recently and Trevor is my favourite. He honestly seems the most 'real'. He just is unhinged. Michael and Trevor are so boring (the retired criminal with family issues and the black trying to get out of the hood).

How does it feel being an idiot. Obviously it's not real in the real life sense but his character is the most true. Having a character who is a psychopath lorewise is more interesting than the other too.

I don’t like Trevor either, but Ending A is genuinely awful, and so is Ending B. They’re both half-baked endings that just exist for the “le multiple endings” fad that was everywhere ten years ago.

Deathwish needs to happen, or else Lamar can only hang out at night, and Michael cuts contact with Franklin, and Blaine County (Trevor’s backyard) turns empty with nothing to do.

Unironic social/criminal IQ rating of GTA characters:
    Trevor == Dave Norton
    Lester
    Lamar
    Amanda (Michael's Wife)
    Michael
    Franklin
    ...
    Wade & Ron

      Anonymous

      >Trevor above Lester
You serious? Lester dipped out of the North Yankton because he knew it was a honeypot, and because he wasn’t there to tardwrangle Trevor, the gang stole a secret prototype weapon that would’ve marked them for death by every single government on the planet during the Merryweather heist.
      >Lamar above Michael or even Franklin
Michael knows how to scope and plan heists, Franklin knows not to call for ransom from a fricking cellphone for when they kidnapped D who’s registered as an LSPD informant. Lamar also stole the Monroe which was, guess what, an obvious trap set by the LSPD to catch the gang for their notorious car theft spree.

The real criminal IQ structure would be:
      Lester
Michael (professional crime > gang/street crime)
      Trevor = Dave Norton
      Franklin
      Lamar
Wade & Ron (former can trace people with a fine tooth comb, latter can source gang hideouts and illicit cargo like guns and drugs)
Amanda (she’s just an ex-stripper who, at best, can do minor civvie crimes)

My criteria is who is best at managing their emotions, their manner of speaking (a speech impediment doesn't count, emphasizing objects and ideas when speaking does, Trevor emphasizes verbs revealing nothing), their discretion, and communicating effectively as criminals to other criminals, regular people or law enforcement.

Lamar is a dope head but he knows the game. His main issue is he has a gangsta hang up and identifies with it too strongly, if he got over it and learned about law enforcement he'd do great, but again, not in my criteria.

I'm talking about appreciating the social intelligence of the criminal character, not the efficacy of their committing of crimes. The things that can't be taught but people have to learn themselves.

Michael is more insane and terribly socially ignorant compared to Trevor, just less physically destructive. The FIB hate Michael because his bitterness while maintaining the businessman image makes him loose lipped. Trevor conceals everything with insanity, but has moments of galaxy brain social interactions.

Franklin is Michael's project of redemption. Michael is flailing about in anger, talking loosely and being an obvious ongoing problem for the corrupt FIB agents because he's trying to find closure for his criminal history and identity as a rich wash-up. Franklin is cool-headed and shows potential, I should've put him over Michael. Michael talks like an idiot constantly, saying way more with any one sentence than someone in his position should.

Amanda hired a yoga instructor to divorce Michael and she's a woman, and I should probably put her higher.
Street/gang vs professional crime is relevant to your criteria and I agree with you

Moving to your criteria, I think Franklin would manage professional crime better than Michael with a few years of experience, but would have greater trouble as a black guy keeping professional connections, where friends like Lamar (in your criteria) can be expected to bring him down.

        >michael: plays for the love of the world and the character growth from lowly hood to kingpin, he's a pastiche to claude/tommy
        >franklin: the Black, the players that loved the gang culture and the car modding from san andreas, obviously a pastiche of carl
        >trevor: the player that just loves to play the game for the violence and chaos, never attempted to beat any gta, pastiche of nobody

I understand the peak comfiness of GTA 5 overworld, though. Used to just use a trainer to spawn whatever vehicles I fancied this afternoon and pass hours just wandering in the overworld. It peak comfy.

Enjoyed the scooter brother easter egg, but I get what you're saying.

A cuck, a Black person and a psycho. I dislike all characters of GTA 5.

      Anonymous

      >cuck
He cheated on Amanda with a hooker, then cheated on him as retaliation, and instead of stopping it right then and there, they both went on a cheating war. Michael draws the line at doing it in their own house:
      >black man bad!
If it’s any conciliation, Franklin’s the worst type of black man; the self-hating and bootlicking kind. He gave up his friends and family and tight-knit community he knew from a young age just to live up in a lonely ass mansion next to neighbors who don’t care about him by asskissing two white dudes.
      >psycho
Trevor’s violent and socio, but not a psycho. Learn the difference, you ignorant dumb piece of shit /misc/cuck.
