Should've made it a separate FF instead of a reboot with a convoluted story that isn't even original.

I wouldn't even call it a reboot. Shits involved with the Dissidia clusterfrick.

The Dissidia connection is titled "Different Future" and the "canon" is still Jack getting impaled by WoL. It's just a small fan service and also so they can also put Emperor in there cause why the frick not.

            Anonymous

It's not though, there's two endings, one Jack goes back to wait for the WoL and the other he goes to the Dissidia mobile game and makes the whole cast kneel.

              Anonymous

I didn't know anything about the mobile game. But the ending that's in the game is still Jack being killed by WoL so I take that as the canon.

only WoFF is above it in the Final Fantasy universal hierarchy

Best way to farm item level 300-400 and 500 ?

Really really good game that's extremely underrated in many aspects. If you want something with a similar combat vibe and sense of great action and build mechanics coming together but even more tools in your moveset to play with try Nioh, since who knows if it'll get a sequel. It deserves far more than it will ever get though.

Don't. The only difference higher level gear gets is in Job Affinity %s and if your item level scope is that wide then you don't need to be farming gear, you need to be just playing the game since gear comes naturally on progression and you got free sets to carry you. That said if you really want relic gear quickly then using the Rift chest trick will kit you out almost immediately, opening the chests in the hall, going to the world map then back refreshes the chests, dismantling the unidentified gear gives you arcanium to open more chests.

        Thank you very much!
By the way I am currently mainly focusing on the Spear and Axe, however I've read the Katana is supposed to be top-tier and I just can't figure out how to use it porperly as it feels rather sluggish and the combo's take forever to execute. Any tipps builds to better utilize it?

Every weapon is very strong and more than strong enough for everything, it's just a matter of learning how to use them, so don't be afraid to swap around constantly to experiment and practice. Katana's my favourite weapon and is probably the hardest to get used to to begin with but it's very satisfying when you do. The normal attacks are on the slower end so you want to make use of spacing, focus on punishing after parry or Soul Shield or cover it with Chain Cancelling into and out of it until you get more of a feel for when you can safely attack, though of course Chain Cancel is always important, many longer combo abilities have early Chain Cancel timings like Yuki Kemuri or Ouka.

Senshin stance is hard to actively make use of without Garo (which fits perfectly on After Parry), but you can also go into it if you hold the attack button after its rear attack though it's still a bit of a slow transition. Once you're in it, that's where the speed comes from and the attacks even act as parries. The abilities from it can be cancelled at any time back into attacks which lets you repeat the first ability so you can build your combo around that and parry anything that comes. The key to Senshin stance more than anything is just being brave enough to use it, the parry window is similar to the normal parry window, tight but not that tight.

I hate how the helpers make bosses stop targeting you so their attacks miss and you don't get the parry or soul guard.

Was good for a playthrough, but never got into the mood for the grind like I did with Nioh 1 and 2.
I do respect Jack‘s strength though.

The DLCs really dropped the ball, especially the first one where it's just "replay the old stages to grind but with some limitations. Enjoy this 2 new bosses but nothing else."
2nd and 3rd improved it by giving more things to do, but man, they really missed the mark for the first one.

You realize the first DLC also updated the movesets of every boss, added a new weapon with three jobs (one of which might as well be its own new weapon) and also added classes to change how every job can play further right? There was also all the side missions they brought in which were very appreciated at the time.

          Anonymous

I didn't know about the updated movesets, I guess by that you mean in the Bahamut difficulty? Okay that's a good one,
But for the side missions, ehhh I didn't appreciate it that much. It's all the old areas and bosses but revamped. It would be nice if we have like a string of new quests with new areas that leads to Bahamut fight instead of just replaying the old ones. I am talking as someone who already had all DLCs since buying it, so I guess I have a different perspective.
Second DLC is still the best one for me. So many stuff to do in there, it feels almost like the Nioh DLCs. I appreciate the third for giving a new area, new bosses, and I think they also added the chaos version of the fiends there, if I'm not mistaken.

            Anonymous

Yes, both Bahamut (DLC1) and Lufenia (DLC3) difficulties updated all the boss movesets in very intelligent ways. The sidemissions were old stuff but the game was lacking in particularly tough gauntlet missions at the time so they were great, especially the four fiends + Darkness Manifest one which needed to happen. New areas would always be welcome but I find people overvalue what new backgrounds would add and severely downplay just what all the other additions bring to the game. DLC2 was overall the best one but each one is intended to build upon the previous ones so there's not much point in such a comparison I find. Chaos fiends were also first added in DLC2.

              >t I find people overvalue what new backgrounds would add and severely downplay just what all the other additions bring to the game.
I respect your opinion but I gotta disagree. If the gameplay isn't as fun as it is, I would dropped the game at the DLCs. Nioh 2 sending you to new stories with all kinds of new environments, characters etc was really exciting to me. Meanwhile the repetition in SoP really dragged down my opinion of it, which is a shame cause the gameplay is great. I still enjoy the game very much, but if they brought more to the DLCs, I would give it a much, much higher score.

                Anonymous

Repetition is a player symptom in this case. If you're playing a game with 10 weapons and around 30 jobs each with 2 variations, all of which having the potential to be very powerful and you keep doing the exact same thing to the point it's hampering your enjoyment, then that's on you. Putting aside that there was new ongoing stories to each DLC, it's fully understandable to be a bit disappointed that there wasn't more new locations, but that doesn't warrant disregarding the fact that gameplay and system-wise it practically added even more than Nioh's DLCs did to make up for it. It's unfortunate to be in the position to have to choose and we all know who to blame for that, but for an action game, these things matter much more than new skyboxes and they made the most of what they got very well.

I’m a special case where I didn’t mind it as much with the Bahamut DLC cause I enjoyed getting the limit release upgrades for classes and the actual Bahamut fight but by Gilgamesh I was kinda just burnt out.

I like it, the grind to do the DLC sucks ass though. Had to replay at least like 20 missions grinding up some master ranks and item level before I even unlocked the bahamut fight and then went in and was still dealing like single pixel damage and getting almost oneshot through sentinel.

      Anonymous

I was expecting a similar style to Nioh DLCs, basically giving you a mini stories and multiple stages with new bosses. It's not like that at all, the DLCs are just to give you a reason to keep grinding. I still like the game + the DLCs, but I'm sure a lot of people are disappointed.
The main game is still great though, definitely worth it.

Replaying missions isn't particularly grinding, it's down to your mindset and how you're using the options provided. With the Anima Crystals you get you can upgrade the gear the game gives you as necessary which is more than enough, and setting up Master points give significant effects that if you wish you can supplement with gear. Though if you're capable in applying offense and managing MP it shouldn't be necessary.

Even beyond the memes the gameplay is just so unbelievably brilliant in how it mixes Dark Souls/Nioh with conventional Final Fantasy gameplay. I’d find a way to personally fund a sequel.
