She's great and I wish she got more art. She's from a big franchise and literally running around in a skin-tight leotard and not much else, you'd think she'd get way more attention.
It was great and it shows how much FF games would benefit from a higher difficulty. It's the only one where I actually used buffs even during normal encounters, especially in the latter part of the game(tower of babil and lunar subterrane).
Same, especially if they kept the hard mode.
6 would especially benefit from it, since the entire game is never challenging after Atma Weapon
Second was already pretty bad since it basically did everything in its power to shit on BD1 and 2 is just underwhelming in every way while also looking like utter shit
Yeah I loved the original, and the PSP remake was excellent. The 3D versions look shitty to me, they should not have bothered until they had more powerful hardware.
And the pixel remaster is not only ugly, its uglier than the PSP version. They should have made all 6 with the same quality and style of the PSP. Now we probably have to wait about 10 more years for the next remake which doesnt look like dog poo. Square is lazy and cheap.
Umm, no, they do not. Not even. I am thinking you are either trolling, or you never actually played PSP final fantasy 4. it looks great.
By contrast the pixel remaster looks worse than most RPG maker titles. Looks like widescreen NES or something. More colors maybe, but the pixels themselves are huge and ugly.
>palom and porom are the same height as the rest of the party >rosa and rydia have the same exact giant sized punching fists as cecil and kain instead of the slightly smaller fists like in snes and PR
Yeah, it's soulless
The only things the Pixel Remaster has that are better than the original are the option to look at the map and turn off random encounters. But not including the extra content from the recent versions of the game is very moronic choice.
you can move diagonally
and the remastered soundtrack and higher resolution is appreciated.
there's also that nifty bestiary, and the world map displays useful information.
I dont even care about the extra content. the original games are fine. One thing they did fix was all the SNES bugs. They were especially bad in FF3 (FF6) and they never got fixed in later released that just copied over all the SNES data.
I did enjoy PSP version but 3D should also be great. Just watch AustinSV's video on YouTube for a competent comparison. Btw bonus dungeons are not really worth it unless you're a huge fan of the gameplay.
Reminds me of when I finally heard to correct way to say Dynasty Warriors names
This is why Wade-Giles is the superior romanization system for Chinese, rather than the Pinyin shit that is now standard and designed to make English speakers look stupid
>OC rydia recolours that are better at summoning than her >Soft implication the big bad has destroyed the other Nintendo-era FF worlds
Probably more, but it has been a while since I've gotten annoyed over the existence of The After Years
It was the first FF I "properly" played from start to finish as a kid. Today I am not that fond of the models, but in general it may still be my favorite version the game.
oh lmao, is that the angle you were going for? Nah, 'goon' is slang to refer to SA users - not the masturbatory definition it has taken on in recent years.
'you and your GOONs wrecked them up SOMETHING AWFUL' is like saying 'you ANONYMOUS wrecked them up FOUR-CHAN DOT ORG' in levels of self-referential moronism tbh

Yeah, I have, since I actually know the context of the discussion.
Nob Ogasawara was a translator that worked on nintendo localizations up until the ~2008; he posted under the alias Doug Dinsdale on the Something Awful forums.
Nob has also put SA references in Pokemon, too. Now you're going to cope about "NUHHH 'MY POKEMON IS FIGHT' ISN'T ACTUALLY A REFERENCE TO SOMETHING AWFUL"

the morons on this board have spontaneous orgasms whenever a game dev does that, anon. you should pick another example.
PR is the easiest version to pick up but they nerfed a lot of things that made the game much easier compared to other versions so it's not really a faithful way to experience the game if that's what you want
Difficulty just goes "frick it, I'm going to space" at the same time the plot does. Everything on the moon just hits like a truck and you're dead meat without the right augment setups.
They redesigned every boss fight with new mechanics and made them more aggresive. In a lot of cases, the changes were made specifically to troll people who played the original and tried the same old strategies.
The DS version requires you to make liberal use of buffs, debuffs, and the character specific abilities and augments that they added to the game.
Cool. I'll have to try it. I made it to what I think is the final dungeon in classic FF4 and my main issue with it is how easy it's been. The only fight I nearly lost was the dark mirror fight when Cecil becomes a paladin.
You will love the new final dungeon then.
Most encounters are deadly, but the enemies are also vulnerable to some statuses so it's a good idea to use the weapons inflicting them while buffing yourself. The difficulty drops if you manage to open the chests and get better armor or the powerful weapons though.

>We will never get another SNES FF because It's impossible to replicate the talent that was on SE during it's time >Not possible to replicate Uematsu peak, Amano peak and Sakaguchi peak nowadays >Any attempt at imitation quickly devolves into a much inferior forgery to the originals
It's literally impossible to make a newer 2D SNES FF.
Not possible.
>>We will never get another SNES FF because It's impossible to replicate the talent that was on SE during it's time
This was really evident when they added new Chrono Trigger content for the DS port. It felt totally out of place with the rest of the game. Talent is just gone.
CT ds port's extra content was so amateurishly done that I'm convinced any semi-motivated modder could've shit out something vastly superior with a week or two of work. I refuse to believe anyone playtested anything in that reptile zone and thought it was acceptable content for an otherwise excellent game
I'm still holding out hope Saga EB will mix SG god tier gameplay with a world that is more than a map. That's as close as we can get. But I think you can't really get that snes feel any more cause that was them pushing boundaries for the time. That forced them to be inventive when now you can cheat and so things easy.
rydia best final fantasy girl
Same also 3 remake as well
FF3 on the ds was my first and probably favorite final fantasy. Got it for Christmas in 2006. Good times.
I want to frick little Rydia
She's great and I wish she got more art. She's from a big franchise and literally running around in a skin-tight leotard and not much else, you'd think she'd get way more attention.
pedos
the ds remakes of 3 and 4 are so soulful
they are also much harder which is better than just spamming attack comands in the original 3&4
Based
Wish they did remakes in this style for all the 2D games, especially 1 and 2
mimonel's rydia is peak
god, i wish 5 and 6 got remakes in a similar style.
i wanna hear voice acted 6 so bad.
I remember the voice acting being surprisingly decent
>We could have FF5 and 6 remake in this style if 4 didn't flop
who was to blame for this?
gonna need a sauce on that info you're spoutin'.
where the hell does it say iv flopped?
IV didn't flop
The team just got to make their own series instead of remakes, which is where BD came from.
BD2 flopped though and now they're dead. Should have kept them on remakes.
I haven't played 2, is it really that bad? I still need to finish Bravely Second
Just one glance at the screenshots and it looks like some indie UE3 early access scam
Second was already pretty bad since it basically did everything in its power to shit on BD1 and 2 is just underwhelming in every way while also looking like utter shit
They're the same guys who make Octopath aren't they? They might still have some chance Octopath 2 was pretty good.
Should my first playthrough of FF4 be the 3D remake or the PSP version?
my first FF game ever was the DS version of IV, and I fell in love with the series from there. Definitely play the 3D version, however you can.
For challenge, 3D
For content, PSP
Both are worth playing
4 3D has my favorite piece of extra content
Stealing Dark Matter from Zeromus actually matters and lets you challenge an extra boss in NG+
Yeah I loved the original, and the PSP remake was excellent. The 3D versions look shitty to me, they should not have bothered until they had more powerful hardware.

>they should not have bothered until they had more powerful hardware.
They wouldn't have bothered because it would have cost more
I think the PSP versions all look like generic rpg maker slop, particularly in battle.

Yeah, it's soulless
>Map vaguely resembles animals
>Revelation toward the end reveals it intentional
Your first playthrough should be Super Famicom, then DS if you decide to replay it. I have no clue why people hype up PSP so much.
lmao, the Pixel Remaster mogs the original on a fricking super nintendo.
The only things the Pixel Remaster has that are better than the original are the option to look at the map and turn off random encounters. But not including the extra content from the recent versions of the game is very moronic choice.

extra content was crap.
I dont even care about the extra content. the original games are fine. One thing they did fix was all the SNES bugs. They were especially bad in FF3 (FF6) and they never got fixed in later released that just copied over all the SNES data.
Pixel Remaster is easier than an already easy game.
same difficulty as the original american release
That is true. But some people really loved the extra challenge of the 3D versions. I honestly did not care.
>same difficulty as the inferior to sufami version
Wow.
>third worlder
nice.
Cope. Only good versions are sufami and 3D.
ESL
I accept your defeat.
where did this model of rosa come from?
DS
CG opening of DS
I played SNES, DS and PR and all were good times
God imagine if lazyprocrastinator made an animation with this model or Rydia's.
>patterned panty hose
>that exposed bit of her pelvis
the ds models are cute but its a shame that because of it ff4 will never get a remake with this style
It will get the same treatment as SO2R at the very best, but never something like 7R
Mogged
Isn't there a PC version of it?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/312750/Final_Fantasy_IV_3D_Remake/
I was wondering if it was as good as the other versions.
It's best for a 2nd playthrough since it's the hardest version and also pretty different. Just play the Japanese SNES version first.
Will do, thanks man.

I did enjoy PSP version but 3D should also be great. Just watch AustinSV's video on YouTube for a competent comparison. Btw bonus dungeons are not really worth it unless you're a huge fan of the gameplay.
ff4 on ds really was the best final fantasy of all time
im having a soul overload while watching this
the voice acting says "yong", but he'll always be "yang" in my heart
Reminds me of when I finally heard to correct way to say Dynasty Warriors names
Older DW gets them wrong too. I giggle everytime I hear a Cow Cow

that

>Cecil didn't adopt Rydia at the end
Are we really going to pretend that Rosa wouldn't be all for it?
At the end of the day Rydia's breasts will be bigger than hers, no deal, no way.
I mean, she was already adopted my THE Sea Dragon. Which is a reminder that marrying Rydia, is having Leviathan as a father in law.
in regards to FF4, TAY is an abortion of writing, and never should have been made
What's wrong with it?
>OC rydia recolours that are better at summoning than her
>Soft implication the big bad has destroyed the other Nintendo-era FF worlds
Probably more, but it has been a while since I've gotten annoyed over the existence of The After Years
I remember playing it when I was like 14 and getting angry at how stupid it was
It was the first FF I "properly" played from start to finish as a kid. Today I am not that fond of the models, but in general it may still be my favorite version the game.
Rydia paizuri
I liken it to FF4 if it got a remake on PS1 or N64, it's gnarly.
at least a PS version would have had really nice cutscenes. Or the N64 version would have rendered higher than 20 frames per second.
Really wish it had the post game of the GBA/PSP version instead of just two super bosses and the command ability mixup.
wtf, she is cuter here than on the SNES original
Why are the girls portraits in that game so bad, even dicky rydia is cuter than her adult version
>The GBA version forverially tainted by Something Awful goons interjecting references to their hella epic 10bux forum into the script
Wasn't that V or did IV also have it
is it literally just the word 'goon' you're complaining about?

Never trust a GBA recommender. While the sound restoration patch for FF4 gets much closer than the ones for FF5 and 6, it's still lacking.

wait shit, forgot tellah and yang
leddit saving me from having to dig the magazine out of a box
i like that tellah
Is that supposed to be Rydia between Rosa and Edge?
I like them all except Kain and the twins.
I just realized Cecil has no pants.
I think the artist must have understood that Kain was jealous over Rosa in the sense that he wanted to bang Cecil.
I'd have a beer with Cid seems like a good bloke.
That Cid is great.

Not that they were GOOD, but it's a chunk of content all other versions are missing.
everything beyond the base game itself is just bad. I'm impressed the after years even got 3d treatment.
it was excellent and pretty hard to boot, square/nintendo done good
