Tyranny is objectively better and a real damn shame it was B project that will nevet see a sequel. The story was getting really, really good and then the game ends.
Disagree. It has a nice, concise and closed story, which also isn't overly long and forced epic. It does leave room for a continuation per sequel though. This is the story of the conquest - or liberation and resistance, of the Tiers. Nothing more, nothing less. There is the overarching metaplot of Kyros' conquest though, of which this is either the final chapter, or the first chapter of rebellion against it and the start of a new war.
This is not a story about saving the whole world from certain doom, but just about deciding the fate of a region and by extension, that of the whole continent.
And you get such original and clever, yet deep and still focused stories in RPGs way too rarely these days. The fact that Tyranny doesn't overstretch itself in telling it, makes it that more enjoyable.
PoE probably has the worst/slowest start of all their games but it picks up later on. Worth playing if you can fight through the first act.
PoE2 is also decent enough.
PoE was decently fun but it kind of drags on too much and has too much combat
Tyranny has a pretty cool concept and a really fun magic system, but the game kind of starts limiting you and forcing you down certain paths halfway through, and it just keeps progressively getting worse towards the end, with a shitty really unsatisfying ending.
>but the game kind of starts limiting you and forcing you down certain paths halfway through
Sure, but there's at least three or four paths which change the whole game up from that halfway point. There's way more choices & consequences than most CRPGs.
It's been years since I've played, but I just remember that I've enjoyed the game a lot until that quest with the archon of stone. I don't remember the details, but I recall being mad that there were some obvious logical solutions to the problem, but the game forced you into one that I've found unsatisfying. And I remember that from around that point it felt like the game started limiting your options heavily in various quests.
That's more or less how it is. I ran into some game breaking bugs trying to get through it, but they've been fixed since. It's been years.
The characters are just awful but you can use something to make a party out of only your custom made dudes that don't talk.
player it a month ago, still janky
also the pacing is fricked
your partymembers barks in battle are what makes a game for me
i didn't hate the chars, they're just a tad lacking
Tyranny sounds unique and interesting but it's a huge letdown in almost all regards.
You aren't really the big bad's enforcer, you don't get to RP as a judge, the Legion and the Chorus (or what they're called) aren't shades of grey, one is LG and the other is CE, the ancient advanced civilization that's hinted at is never explored, the ending is the same whatever you do.
Companions are all meh.
Combat magic is nice but not very impactful overall, while the rest of the gameplay is pretty bland.
PoE is much more conventional but I enjoyed the atmosphere and the world building.
Combat is mostly fun, the big mistery isn't earth shattering but it's exciting to uncover, and the companions are great.
>visit Tunon's court >Hey, Tunon, what are the laws i'm supposed to be enforcing? >uhh, well, you see.....
plus you don't get to play as a straight shooter
Tunon always sends that *teleports behind u* assassin after you
you will always have a confrontation with him
you always become a rebel (i've heard that they added a DLC ending where you get to stay loyal but the game frankly wasn't worth going back to)
>You aren't really the big bad's enforcer
Depends on what you actually mean by this, but you absolutely can act like it in plenty of quests >you don't get to RP as a judge
Like half of all side quests are specifically focused on you being asked to settle some dispute due to your position as a fatebinder, there is at least one quest like that in every bigger location, the hell you're on about >one is LG
Have you missed the part where they're utterly disdainful towards anyone from different ethnic heritage, completely indifferent about civilian casualities, and totally uncaring about anything other than war (despite being expected to rule over the tiersmen who they consider subhumans after the war)? >the ancient advanced civilization that's hinted at is never explored
There's a little bit of that in the DLC, but in general I'd agree it's a valid complaint. I would like to see more worldbuilding in general, especially since what's in there is quite good >the ending is the same whatever you do
That's blatantly false, unless you mean like, a completely different final chapter, not just the resolution and cutscenes - then it's true, but I really don't think it's an issue especially since plenty of other things in the game can look quite differently depending on the choices >Companions are all meh
I quite like most of them, but that's a completely subjective thing, so whatever >you don't get to play as a straight shooter
But you can. You will always have a trial purely because you've became a threat to Kyros at this point, something that's unacceptable in a regime, but it is possible to succesfuly defend yourself and continue serving the overlord. Hell, you can even lose the trial, kill Tunon and then STILL choose an ending where you bend the knee to Kyros and he/she accepts it and makes you a vassal
Tyranny is really underrated, it has a really cool world, decent replayability, neat magic system and good, unconventional roleplaying opportunities. Also decent combat for a non-turn based isometric. Oldwalls were a fricking drag though
Pillars seemes okay, but a little too generic for my taste. Never got very far in them though due to unrelated reasons
Tyranny is the most frustrating game I've ever played
Because you can feel that it COULD have been a fantastic game, everything is there for it to have been one of Obsidian's defining games
And then it just ends right when things get interesting
It just oozes with wasted potential at every single point
Neither, wait for avowed if it ever comes out
>avowed
Damn I didn't even know about this. Thanks for the heads up.
Tyranny is objectively better and a real damn shame it was B project that will nevet see a sequel. The story was getting really, really good and then the game ends.
It really pissed me off. I'd have bought it if it didn't just cut off halfway through the game.
Disagree. It has a nice, concise and closed story, which also isn't overly long and forced epic. It does leave room for a continuation per sequel though. PoE is longer but Tyranny has a better story.
PoE probably has the worst/slowest start of all their games but it picks up later on. Worth playing if you can fight through the first act.
PoE2 is also decent enough.
Pillars. I like to play games based on order of release.
KOTOR 2 and that's it.
The rest are trash.
I don't have to play the first one?
The first one is better, absolutely play it.
just play kotor 2. it's way better than kotor 1
You should play both. It'll highlight 2's superiority even moreso.
PoE was decently fun but it kind of drags on too much and has too much combat

Tyranny has better premise, but ymmv on the actual gameplay. Play Kingmaker instead.
lmao no
kangmaker is good but you need to put up with way more jank and the charecters are worse than pillars2
That's more or less how it is. I ran into some game breaking bugs trying to get through it, but they've been fixed since. It's been years.

Pillars is better, Tiranny has one of the worst enemy variety ever seen in an rpg, you fight the same generic humans for 30 hours
Tyranny sounds unique and interesting but it's a huge letdown in almost all regards.

Anon, they're the Assyrian army, they are not good

Ny Vegas is shit. Tyranny is actually good. Pillars of Ethernity is trash.
t.guy that does not care what the discord trannies think
If you don't like new vegas your taste is just shit. Sorry.
What do you like about it?
Why? So you can shit on any aspect I bring up? Eat shit.
buy tyranny if you hate crpgs for being too long but also enjoy orgasm denial
buy poe if you enjoy commiefornian subversion
Neither of those. They're shit.
Both, also POE 2 is better than both of them even if it was a massive flop.
tyranny is good but unfinifshed
pillars are god awful

Go with PoE, the definitive edition with all DLC just became available for free on game pass
Imagine playing Obshitian games lmao
Just play Disco Elysium OP
>europoor trash
No thanks
