I like RE games but this didn't grab me even if camera is better than classic RE. Am i wrong for disliking it?

I vaguely remember enjoying Dino Crisis back in the day, but as a kid who loved the early Resident Evil titles, I agree, it certainly didn't hold my fascination like RE.
Dinosaurs are so childish. I can't help but associate them with 3 year olds who have plastic dinosaur toys. You can't make these cartoon ass creatures look scary or interesting.
That's actually why I enjoyed the demo so much as a kid. Kept playing to see all the different deaths. Yeah dinosaur, rip her to pieces!
What do you associate zombies with?
>You can't make these cartoon ass creatures look scary or interesting
Not even an Alien Isolation game but with a T-rex in a forest instead of a xenomorph?
>Dinosaurs are so childish.
This. There's a reason you don't see zombie-shaped chicken nuggets in the freezer section.
that would just be human-shaped nuggets and i think they exist.
Nope, Minions are as close as you get.
its a fricking kusoge like most survival horror really are.
I marathoned a bunch of RE games then played this. Ended up dropping it because the map is so fricking awful you can't really tell where the hell you're even at. The environments are too samey to memorize the areas. The combat was trash.
Correct me if I am wrong, last time I finished it was 20 year ago. Wasn't this feeling more like a action game? I remember amo being not a problem and you could actually grind for the cards.
>Am i wrong for disliking it?
Why are you asking such fricking dumb question?
Nah OP, I feel the same. I replay classic RE games every year but Dino Crisis never grabbed me, it lacks everything that made RE good.
That being said, do play DIno Crisis 2. It drops the horror pretentious and just goes for balls to the wall arcade shooting with great atmosphere, return to prerendered backgrounds (quite gorgeous too), there is now a points system and combos, strafe-dodging. Dino Crisis 2 is one of the most fun video games on the system.
Have you tried the second game?
They are pretty different to each other so maybe that strikes you fancy
>Am i wrong for disliking it?
nope, it's a shitty boring and bland RE clone but with Le dinosaurs (the reddit of extinct animals)
it's somehow even worse than Code Veronica and Zero
skip it and play 2 if you like action games (it's not a horror game)
>(the reddit of extinct animals)
i audibly kek'd
what is the Ganker of extinct animals?
Dodo bird
Why the Dodo and not the Baiji?
white people
Have you paid attention in your biology class at high School or college beyond 5 minutes? White people certainly not a social construct, but there's a difference between species and subspecies aka races.
wow thanks autism-kun, that was DEFINITELY a serious comment
I’m the same way. The sterile futuristic lab environments and lack of enemy variety doesn’t really do it for me. Dino Crisis was a one and done game for me.
Loved this game. I know a lot of RE fans didn't like it because zombies vs dinosaurs or whatever they say. But dinosaurs are cool. They'd chase you between rooms sometimes and ammo on normal mode was hard to come by for a good chunk of the game.
Dodging and using the mixing system was a must at least to make sleep darts to use since you couldn't find enough ammo. The DDK system wasn't my favorite and could probably be reworked a little.
REmake when?
The game is pretty demanding because it requires you to write down keycodes in notepad because the game doesn't store them and backtrack with low ammo. Not saying it's not worth playing.
>The game is pretty demanding because it requires you to write down keycodes in notepad because the game doesn't store them
ask me how i know you are an adhd brainlet, never play actual puzzle games.
I wouldn't know that you have to write down the key codes and match them together if I had not played and completed it at least once. I was saying the game is pretty demanding compared to PS1 games like Spyro where you can just explore and jump around. Or even compared to RE games from the same developers because those games sometimes tell you which keys open which doors and tells you to discard items you don't need and such.
I've only finished this one like 5 times, and mostly just for the different variations of the endings (there's like 3 or 4). Comparing that to RE1~3, which I've finished at least 20 times each... yeah, it didn't really click with me.
What did you think of the second game, that replaced resource management with action?
Dino Crisis is the culmination of the survival horror, there is no better game in this genre.
Pretty much. I also think having to fare against fricking dinosaurs is far more terrifying than zombies but I understand this doesn't translate well to 1st gen 3D graphics/engines unless you suspend your belief.
>SS1
>SS2
>Silent Hill 1 and Silent Hill 2
>Clocktower series
>Am i wrong for disliking it?
Yes. Dinosaurs > Zombies
This game takes survival horror to its logical conclusion and I love it.
man there just cannot be a discussion about any game without a thread devolving into everyone busting each other's balls
It's summergay kiddies as usual. Typically /vr/ is the most chill vidya board relatively speaking, but I noticed a distinct rise in autism/bait threads at the end of May/start of June.
Same goes for the unhinged contrarian replies to even the most benign enjoyment of any game.
Dinosaurs are too linked with Jurassic Park for me to take any game starring them as the enemies seriously.
its been a really long time since i saw it but aint Jurassic park a serious movie ? i remember it having a bit of a horror tone.
Original was serious but the sequels where goofy
Played this game january this year and had a blast. great atmosphere and combat, helps having a mixing chart...feel bad for all the ogs who went in blind.
