Or how they really want everything anime to be identified with them and claim that most anime was always about their shit, but then strangely have to censor and "localize" every release coming from Japan to the level of it becoming a fanfiction that validates their worldview.

Because video games aren't a sexuality. I do not give a single frick if the character I am playing likes to suck dick or not.
The biggest issue is they keep treating being gay as a personality trait, not just in video games but in movies and comics too.
The vast majority of characters in the vast majority of games never get into a situation where their sexuality would even come up, let alone be expressed. This means in the vast majority of cases, the only way to know if they were being represented or not, just like the opposite, is if they were overtly and unmistakably stereotyped as such.
Why do LGTV people feel the need to be stereotyped before they can identify with or enjoy a character? Just because I'm a straight man doesn't mean I can't identify with anyone but Duke Nukem.
