I like Sega!

Say something nice about Sega. Alternatively, say something mean about Sega.

Streets of rage, toe jam and earl, splatterhouse, phantasy star, Herzog swei, etc etc. I think the genesis has the best library of games but Nintendo, having less good games, just had the highest quality games available at the time.

Puggsy. Character design is kinda ugly but the game is rock solid, great soundtrack too.

A few others that come to mind are Beyond Oasis, Mega Turrican, and Bonaza Bros.

Sega is at this moment fricking up just as spectacularly as they did in the Dreamcast era with CA and Hyenas

Sega made a good system once, the genesis. All my favourite non-pinball arcade games were made by sega

thats because they let sega europe go unchecked for too long, they literally cancelled it because it was moronic and they realized it would be a massive flop and bankrupt the company.

I really like the Saturn. I am sad the Dreamcast died early. The Xbox being its reincarnation was kinda nice in hindsight but dudebros from the era were insufferable.

Can you explain that to me a bit? I always felt like the Gamecube looked and felt nore like a Dreamcast 2 but everhone says its the Xbox, just never got how

It's easy to model the PS2, the Gamecube, and the Xbox as Dreamcast successors in different ways. The Gamecube could be seen as absorbing Sega's stuff from the exit to the console war with a proper expanded port and sequel to Phantasy Star Online. The PS2 got Shinobi. The Xbox got the weird Sega games like Panzer Dragoon Orta, Gunvalkyrie, and Jet Set Radio Future. The PS2 and Gamecube "can't" be successors to the Dreamcast because they're successors to the PS1 and N64. The Xbox picks up where the Dreamcast left off by having those odd Sega games, an integrated network connection, and even a controller with six main face buttons like the Saturn. There's also that "Made for Windows CE" bit on the Dreamcast which might as well have foreshadowed the Xbox.

Not that Anon but TL;DR because it has stuff like Crazy Taxi 3, House of the Dead 3, Jet Set Radio Future, Outrun 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Sega GT 2002, Shenmue 2
Basically the GC has SA2 but the Xbox has Sega games that feel more Saturn and Dreamcast core

A lot of Sega fans moved on to Xbox because for many reasons, one was resentment towards Sony and Nintendo but also that they had no other console to go for after Sega exited the hardware business. Another one was the OG Xbox being similar to the Genesis days of Sega in a lot of ways (the ads for example were equally glorious, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hu_0GdXW904). There was also Sega supporting the Xbox probably the most heavily out of all the consoles even having Shenmue 2 not released in the US for Dreamcast in favor of an Xbox port. It also had built in online like the Dreamcast, and the DC hardware was also "close to PC to make ports easy" like the Xbox. Basically the Xbox was a DC spiritual successor in so many ways.
There were also rumours that Sega was in talks with Microsoft about making the Xbox compatible with the DC but it would've raised the console cost too much (MS was reportedly already losing $100 per each console sold, so adding more to that was too much).

Gamecube only really had Sonic Team support, and the PS2 mostly only got DC ports, RPGs and Virtua Fighter 4. Xbox had a shitload of original Sega games, chief among them Panzer Dragoon Orta which also had a custom xbox model made for it.

Sonic CD is hands down one of the worst 2D paltformers ever made. There is nothing intelligent about its design and its an exercise in frustration and futility until you play it so many times that you memorize its horrible level layouts and develop stockholm syndrome for investing so much time into it

Bimini run is a really, really fun game

OP posted a Sega -SG 1000 yet no body has even talked about playing one ITT. Back in 2017 I sat around and played most of the games for this thing. Definitely better than playing an Atari 2600, that's for sure.

I like Sega because Kibe likes Sega.
Their commercials were top-notch, Segata Sanshiro being not only a great idea, awesome pun but also a moral role model who advises children to put off playing Sega Saturn after the exam period. His theme song is catchy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wb7sN7axblc)
Sensing it's decline and fall Sega's Dreamcast ads (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_65I-AyktreHYi8Gf5OGZM_Y8z5V2-g7) acknowledged failure and accepted it.
