The glitch he was doing required autistic levels of timing (basically requires you're right at the apex of the jump, hitting an enemy, and then you can air jump again on a specific frame to double jump). Turns out the person who made the trick was watching, and even other people watching could tell something was off, and he tried to cheat with a moon jump code. Also his acting sells it (for a very hard to pull off trick, goes "I LIKE THAT JUMP" with 0 enthusiasm, and then doesn't react at all when he gets it right on his first try). As far as I know, his run wasn't even on pace to be a WR.
what gave it away was that the jump required every inch of mario’s upward momentum to reach a ledge and nothing is spared. but chibi landed on the ledge with some ‘air time’ for mario to ‘fall’
