Do you think the original Ore Barons were nice people - all things considered - or where they shitty people like Gomez except government appointed
If you never beat Gothic 2 NOTR as a pure archer pumping everything in DEX you didn't beat the game
this is the ultimate test of your skills (in the early game, the late game and killing the dragons is ridiculously easy once you're a bow pro)
>getting the gang together for that big mission was actually realistic considering how batshit everything was about it
even though the player did most of the saving as usual, I like how you could still get help with at least some of the undead
>the original Ore Barons
there were no original ore barons. there only ever was gomez and his compatriots who took control of the colony after the barrier was erected, THEY were the ones who called themselves the ore barons, due to their control of the prison population and the inability of the king to regain control since nobody would be willing to enter a prison they could never leave again, not to mention that most of his forces were engaged with the orcs.
they might have been prisoners, but as long as they stood at the top of the prison hierarchy they could demand an obeisance from the king for the continued delivery of the ore, which effectively made them sort of noblemen.
before the barrier it was a prison camp like any other, with someone in command of the prison and the mine, but whoever that was, he is never mentioned nor is there any reason to believe there was any sort of special accomodation for him, like the ore barons got, except that he most likely was nobility or at least gentry as well.
if you hold spacebar you can quickselect anything you have marked in your inventory while the game is paused, so the lackluster shortcuts of a game played with controller already are the inferior solution, but go on and tell us about the rest of these "improvements".
Sorry my bad, I concede and adopt your opinion that these games should not be made more available to players on other platforms so that you can gloat about being hot shit for playing retro games unlike the lowly plebs.
> I concede and adopt your opinion that these games should not be made more available to players on other platforms
now that is what you call childish conjecture in the face of being proven wrong, son.
nobody said anything about the game not being allowed on switch or any other console, only that the input limitations of a gamepad make it a worse version.
I could also have told you that the english version is also much worse than the german orignal, but unlike the triviality of getting a machine capable of playing gothic 1 and 2 if you can afford a switch, learning german to the proficiency of actually understanding gothic is not realistic, so I chose not to, because contrary to your kind insinuation, I am not a belligerent dick.
if you're having problems with the controls I can post a picture of the original pc box keyboard set up, only if you're too stupid to go into settings. btw I'm an American
If controls are your issue with Gothic, there's a mod that adds full controller support (real implementation, not just binding keyboard keys to the pad).
>beat up Scar, take his sword
After playing a certain Gothic 2 mod, I wished Scar had more of an impact in the story and maybe even survived and appeared in the sequels.
But yea, a mod doesn't make it canon.
One of the few positives with these games slowly going into the history books is that it separates the wheat from the chaff from all the wannabe video game critiques. All the, primarily US based "game journalist" unironically saying " Where did the Witcher come from!?", not realizing what an incredibly embarrassing statement that is.
I played G2 with the hd textures and skybox iirc on my old Vista 32 laptop, that game was a true gem, everywhere you turned and walked a few steps, there was actual role-playing
If you never beat Gothic 2 NOTR as a pure archer pumping everything in DEX you didn't beat the game
this is the ultimate test of your skills (in the early game, the late game and killing the dragons is ridiculously easy once you're a bow pro)
Finished this game recently. Playing this game with full freedom has been a dream ever since I discovered it in high school but I was too much of a poorgay until this year when I finally could quit my former job and play
Jesus Christ, the almost everything about this game is as good as I remembered, with the added bonus that I fricking finally cleared the Fog Tower without shitting my pants. Frick Xardas's tower for putting 50 undead in tight corridors, I put that off until I got enough aoe to nig them from a distance
I kinda dislike how Lester kinda fell off the importance chart following his focus stone help, he even got recycled voice lines in the english version.
Also wtf was that Sleeper Temple error with the crashes unless you disabled sound for that one room lmao
thank you but afaik I had the gog version so it was a matter of the game not finding a specific audio file for some reason, disabling the sound in the .ini worked
that was the first in a long time I fiddled with an .ini too, yet another dose of nostalgia
I'm cautiously optimistic about the remake after they scrapped the trailer. The podcast publicly derided that version and said they didn't even want to publish it which could be bullshit but hey at least they learned their lesson
I'm also amazed that Kai was like 18 when he did the G1 music and he's on the team for the remake too
>new camp / dragon hunter reporting in
I played New Camp in G1 but never did so in G2, I still remember how dissapointed Lee was for not joining the lads
the ini file is a long standing barrier to playing the game. you said you have the gog version?
Sleeper temple had a section where one was required to turn three slabs of stone so one of the undead orc priests came forth, every time I turned the third one the game crashed because the shaman was spawn sound effect was missing
they were kinda "realistic" by doing away with stereotypes like excessive screaming and gore, they even looked like they had left-over behaviour from sentience and hitting them made the sound of chopping the tough flesh of a corpse
Yeah I think the correct mood of G2 is that you're playing as some guy who is stretching his legs and fricks around until you feel like playing a Hero
game takes off way too slow for someone who wants action
becoming king snark the first is funny tho
I love most of Gothic I and most of Gothic II. Gothic I gets kinda bad near the end and the best parts of Gothic II are concentrated in the first half. It's kinda the same with a lot of PB games. They're great at making a world you wanna explore, they're great at filling it with characters you wanna do quests for. They're godawful at keeping their game interesting when you've met everyone and are working towards the climax. Somehow, Elex 1 is the only game of theirs I was actually really interested in through the entire game. Risen 2 to a lesser degree. They're both worse games than Gothic II overall but neither succumbed to what I call the PiranhaBytes churn where they just make their game climax a churn through a ton of enemies. Apparently Elex 2 has this BAD.
Mostly agree with you, I only finished G2 to see who I may bring along for the bullshit brigade
Had a laugh when I confronted Lares about not really giving a frick and he said he knew I'd be fine >verification not required
You've never played it, probably just watched le based YouTube man and trying to fit in with le based Ganker.
Show playtime.
>Show playtime.
What's that, Black person?

It’s tendies that can finally play a good RPG for once instead of xenoslop.
I've played all 3 Gothic games and Archolos one the most LudoKino mods I've played.
Playing the new Switch port and it's better than vanilla PC version. VERY comfy lads.
>it's better than vanilla PC version
how?
It has QoL features like shorcuts for potions and spells among other improvements.
if you hold spacebar you can quickselect anything you have marked in your inventory while the game is paused, so the lackluster shortcuts of a game played with controller already are the inferior solution, but go on and tell us about the rest of these "improvements".

How embarrassing.
But how's the controls are they actually "improved" from the PC version?

Le swanzye
>crashes
I love the first two chapters. The game devolves into generic fantasy slop afterwards sadly.
We know, Ivan
Never played Gothic 1. But I love Gothic 2. Such a comfy world
Gothic 2 is based off of how comfortable the original was.
Man I can clear the whole map before I even join any camp.
The only reasonable way to play. Walk past the guards inside the Old Camp's inner circle, beat up Scar, take his sword, proceed to clear out the map.
>beat up Scar, take his sword

me too. I liked smoking swamp weed in remote locations before I went experience hunting.
I played G2 with the hd textures and skybox iirc on my old Vista 32 laptop, that game was a true gem, everywhere you turned and walked a few steps, there was actual role-playing
if you have g2 gold you should play the free archolos mod. it was a free anniversary of Gothic 2 mod made by the original creators, and mod teams
it's an overhaul mod you can toggle
>new camp / dragon hunter reporting in
I'd rank Gothic 1&2, and homm3 in the same category of escapism.
If you never beat Gothic 2 NOTR as a pure archer pumping everything in DEX you didn't beat the game
this is the ultimate test of your skills (in the early game, the late game and killing the dragons is ridiculously easy once you're a bow pro)

you did not play the game, scrub.

if you're having trouble with the temple you should reload it, and patch it. no body is saying the original isn't jank

what exactly where you having problems with? was it with Y'Berion?

what operating system are you using?
Anons I got the game working just fine except for that one bit and the skeleton summon bug, I just posted the solution in case anyone else has that
windows 7 btw
that's your problem right there
you know you can't cripple win 10 if you aren't a fricking moron, right?
>can
there is an unofficial patch you should download
the patch isn't in steam
there is a link in the guides and a detailled description of how to install it.
if you dig enough some has already posted a link on the steam
good luck my friend
the ini file is a long standing barrier to playing the game. you said you have the gog version?
the tell it to gothic, not to us.
I got filtered by its horrendous graphics. Just can't get into it.
I remember creating this cringe video during the height of the corona pandemic.
What do you guys think?
Gothic is pure relaxation.
>discover Cavalorn's place
>music changes to pure relaxation
>wrinkles are gone
How the frick did they made the zombie so spooky? Despite their fights being piss easy I still shook every time I fight zombies
they were kinda "realistic" by doing away with stereotypes like excessive screaming and gore, they even looked like they had left-over behaviour from sentience and hitting them made the sound of chopping the tough flesh of a corpse
i played 1 and 2
quit 2 as it was too boring
